My chicken enchilada came out in only a few minutes and had a good portion of chicken and cheese, the taco had plenty of beef and toppings and the rice and beans were warm and flavorful. Came here for the first time with friends. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Chips were a bit dry. They needed a little salt. But salsa was good. The service is fabulous. They were very welcoming and kind. The restaurant is very clean. It's beautiful and large. The food was good! Not the best Mexican food ever, but good! I do wish the chicken in the chimichanga was shredded. Would have been a game changer! I didn't really care for the salsa that was complimentary but since it was included, I didn't mind it. I would return for lunch again. Their lunch menu didn't have cheese enchiladas, and it was a pretty small selection compared to other restaurants that offer lunch specials. Came with rice and refried beans. Everything was hot and fresh. My wife had the shredded beef enchiladas, and again very tasty and hot. Decent prices as well. Actually larger than it appears. Hubby & I had dinner here last night for the first time. We arrived a little before 5:00 & were seated right away. The restaurant is nice on the outside. It reminds me of a Spanish style house. The inside is clean & has Mexican style decor. I love Mexican tiles, pots & colors. As usual hubby got a beer & I got Sangria. Both were good. The sangria is served without ice. I like mine with ice so I used some ice from my water. The chips are good. They are crispy and not greasy at all. Here comes the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars, the salsa. The salsa is fresh and chunky, but way too spicy for me. Hubby likes spice and he liked it. I liked the freshness and taste, but I couldn't handle the spice. Hubby got the combo sampler. It was a lot of food. It comes with a taco, mini chimi, mini tostada, tamela, enchilada, rolled taco, rice & beans with sour cream and guacamole. He ate it all. It was a great way for him to try multiple items & see what he liked & didn't like as well. I got the chicken breast chimichanga. It comes with rice & beans, sour cream and guacamole. The chimichanga was large & plump. The chicken had grill marks & was super tender. It had sliced green onions with a sauce that was very good. I appreciated that it was not greasy at all. The rice & beans were good as well. Service was good. Our food came out incredibly fast and was pipping hot. I do think the prices are a little higher than other Mexican restaurants, but I am fine with paying a little more for good, fresh food. Came here with a party of 12+ to celebrate a birthday party. The place is very spacious and clean, and immediately has that Mexican vibe. They have a separate room for large parties, but we were able to fit in the dining area. We sat at the bar top area and waited for the rest of our group, and they were quick and friendly there too. The bar top is kinda small and can only seat maybe 8 people. Service was quick and all the people that came by to help us were super friendly. It wasn't super busy but there were probably about 10 other tables full. I got the mango shrimp quesadilla and it was good. Nothing too amazing or spectacular, but definitely not bad. Overall it's a decent place for a special occasion but I wouldn't go out of my way to compete. read more

In short there was a (non-winged) bug crawling on my taco combo plate as the waiter placed it in front of me. He tried to say that it came from the table and said they would make it again. Everyone else started to eat and in about another 5 minutes the waiter returned with the plate. it looked identical... The shape of the beans and the shape of the rice was the same. I ignored this and started eating my tacos. As I started eating, I noticed three of the staff members, including our waiter in the back, Geo, were watching me, eat the tacos and laughing. I can guarantee you they just reposition the tacos to make it look like they had remade the meal. This place is not clean, the staff is dirty and grungy, and I can safely say I will never eat at another Mi Amigos ever again. What is happening in this world? What is wrong with people? read more

We were craving Mexican food tonight and my husband suggested Mi Amigos. I was very happy to see salt already on the table, I don't know if it was an oversight or not, but I sure appreciated not having to ask for it. We both had a margarita, mine was raspberry, his was strawberry, both were fruity and refreshing. We love coming here because their crispy tacos are always stuffed with lots of meat. We occasionally chose the same meal, and after some deliberation, my husband decided to join me with a Numero Tres. This dish has two crispy tacos, a cheese Enchilada in red sauce, mexican rice and beans. It did not disappoint! Every bite was absolutely fantastic!!! We both brought home some leftovers. :) The wait staff was on point. As people left, they swooped in, and thoroughly cleaned the empty booths. There was a steady flow of patrons the entire evening. At the bar, the playoffs were on a big screen TV, and once in a while we could head a 'whoop whoop' as a favorite team scored a TD. It was such a pleasant feeling of normalcy in these crazy times. I love mi amigos and always have! Ever since I was a kid I'd pick this place as my birthday dinner spot. I must say over the years though it has upped its spice game. My grandma isn't the biggest fan, but I have no issues with it. Sometimes the salsa can be a bit over powered by the spiciness, so my only suggestion would be to calm it down a little. I placed an order for pick up yesterday and the girl who helped me order was super nice and thorough! I wish I got her name because she got everything I asked for, including a little smiley face on the kids meal, and she helped carry it out to my grandmas car. Reserved the banquet room for our clubs final meeting. We paid the $50 non-refundable reservation fee for the room several weeks in advance but were not told that we had to have a MINIMUM of 20 people to have the buffet for our meeting, but would still be required to pay the 20% gratuity for using the room. We decided to go ahead and pay as if we would have 20 people (even though we would only have 16 that RSVP'd) which would leave leftovers to take home. The food was room temperature at best. The ONE SERVER assigned to the banquet room only came into the room 3 times max during the 1.5 hours we had reserved the room. Never cleared any plates, silverware, etc from the tables. We had asked to have the music volume for the banquet room lowered (which never happened) since we were passing out awards and had to maneuver around dishes left on the tables. The 20% tip was $76 which was definitely not earned at all. The manager, assistant manager, shift manager, etc. NEVER came in to check on on us either. We would recommend checking out other locations for your event before deciding to have it at Mi Amigos. read more

Had a good time at a birthday party for a dear friend, but was not impressed with the restaurant as a whole! The occaision was fun here and the attention was very good, but the food overall was not impressive. Having the opportunity to savor many of their offerings through the buffet served for our party from tortillas, beans, carnitas, enchiladas and more, we had a first run at the foods. Oof. Worst Mexican food I've had in a long time. Went as a party of 4, and all 4 of us agreed. The server, Shane, wasn't exactly the most inviting or personable server. Which turned me off from asking questions right from the start. I figured let's just get some simple tacos and make this easy since he didn't seem very friendly. He was OK...not bashing him...but we all just got a weird vibe. 3 of us ordered the street tacos. As someone who's lived in and spent a lot of time Mexico, I'm well versed in street tacos. I got the carnitas. The meat was actually pretty good. But who the hell puts a mount of lettuce and tomatoes and an avocado slice on street tacos?!?! All of us got our plates and looked down like WTF is this!? Oh, and flour tortillas none the less. I had to scrape everything off except the meat, just to have an actual street taco. Would have been nice to get REAL street tacos with onions and cilantro and a lime. But I don't know what the hell was served to us. Does the chef even know what Mexican food is, or have they ever been to Mexico before? Horrible. Def not coming back here again. Mi Amigo's has always been one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. I'm picky about my fajitas and this place has some of the best. Their meat is perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. Everything else on the menu is good, too. This is close to the Tex-Ex food I grew up on. This store is clean with good service (for a slow Tuesday night dinner). I'm sad that this is the only one left in the east valley. I certainly hope this store stays open or I will need some recommendations for fajita places. This place is amazing! I've been meaning to come in here some moving to mesa. I finally brought my family in today and Uriel M was an amazing server. He was super friendly and made sure we were happy till the time we left out of the front door. Everything is correctly priced for how fresh and good tasting the food is. This truly was the best Mexican food I've had in my short 28 years. For a family of four only 3 eating their own meal, we spent around 90$ total BUT we took left overs and nothing's was a disappointment. I will definitely return to mi amigos. TLDR; very very poor service...as if it were his first serving job. Food wasn't bad but not good either. To the server: Please worry about side work after you've taken care of your tables. The experience: My boyfriend and I usually go to the Downtown Phoenix location. We like the food. We were in Mesa and decided to come here. We got sat by a very sweet hostess who said "You came JUST in time...when it just stopped being busy!" I'm thinking "Okay cool. No rush any longer, we should get our things out in a decent amount of time"... then we were introduced to our server Joseph. And I was wrong for thinking we would even get good service. We were given our complementary chips and salsa. Our server grabbed us our waters. We browsed over the menu. I was going to get a margarita. My date was going to get a side of guacamole. Meanwhile, a table of 2 sat next to us. They had the same server as we did. He took their drink order, walked past us, did a quick take, and saw that we were done with our chips and salsa...and didn't take our order. He came back with chips and salsa. Dropped it on the table and still didn't take our order. We decided not to order the guacamole or the margarita respectively. Meanwhile, he is in the back doing side work. (I've worked in the restaurant business for a few years now, and believe me, I understand the importance of silverware and clean cups, but...it's absolutely never at the expense of taking your tables' orders). He finally takes our orders. We're both glad we didn't order the guacamole and margarita, because the next time we saw him was when he dropped off our food, which was not what we were used to. It was plated sloppily and looked like there was a rush to make it. He came by and refilled our waters (with the pour spout touching both my date's straw and the rim of my cup...which is unsanitary. Who knows who else's mouth has essentially touched that?) He spilled ice on the table and walked away in haste. Said nothing to us during that exchange. He filled up our waters again, didn't say anything then. He came back and dropped off salsa to the table...which we never asked for. Didn't ask us how our food was. Came to mi Amigos on a Friday night. First time. As we walked up they have a great patio at the entrance but, it was a little to cold on this night. We sat at the bar, ordered a cheese crisp The salsa is a sweet and not very hot. I asked the bartender, if she had something a little hotter with some kick. She brought back some red, that was hot! Had the pollo taco and carne taco. Each were on a soft shell. The chips were thin, like I prefer Very good for a chain restaurant. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. I've literally been going here forever and ever. It's always consistently good no matter what location I've been too everything tastes and is made the way I would expect it to be. I'm a huge fan of the cheese crisp. They have a pretty good happy hour too. Cheese enchiladas and tacos are usually my go tos. Naturally as a native Arizonian I can't pass up the chips and salsa that they'll keep coming until you're ready to burst. Been patronizing this place since the early 1980's when it was in the back Sw corner of the parking lot. My two boys grew up connecting their straws together to suck the salsa bowl dry. Always a good meal and attentive service. I think their chile relleno is the best in town and I have seldom ordered anything else. Today I had their number two combo. Very tasty and filling - served with smiling eyes. Probably teeth as well, but in this surgical mask political environment, it's anybody's guess. Service was great, the staff was really nice and the restaurant was clean, but wow I am barely giving this place a 2 based on that. The food was so awful that I'm genuinely shocked. Whatever crack pipe thought up the idea to not serve queso dip must have been the same one who decided to put the shrimp and mango quesadilla on the menu. The chips and queso were decent and the margarita was meh, it was obviously just a pre-mix with half a shot of tequila. The quesadilla though, that was offensive. First of all it's a Shrimp and MANGO quesadilla, which is a great idea. Sweet and savory, salt/fat/acid/heat and all that. Except they served it to me and it was canned peaches instead of mango??? I was so confused? Even more confusing was why there was barely 4-5 whole shrimp on the quesadilla, and the rest was awful semi-warm canned peach. Truly I've never seen such a simple recipe messed up so bad in my life. I felt like whoever made this menu was hoping that all of the dumb Americans wouldn't know anything about Hispanic food and would just drink enough shitty margaritas to not notice the wrong (canned) fruit in the food. Also, who doesn't serve queso at a Mexican restaurant? Anyways staff was great, the bartender was very sweet. The staff all wore masks and the place was very cleaned and sanitized.
