I finally made a stop to check this place out. I favored the salmon dish most, then the green corn tamale and the Molé enchilada. The queso blanco was a great starter and I enjoyed the chips and guac. Great customer service in a spacious dining room. Plenty of seating for small or large groups. They also have a banquet room for large party sizes.

Our first time at Rancho de Tia Rosa, purchased by the Lucas family in 2019. This beautiful hacienda-style restaurant has a beautiful patio and Mexican architecture. They serve Baja-style Mexican food, with fresh ingredients, hearty portions, and dishes like specialty enchiladas, burritos, nachos, and signature margaritas and cocktails. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We ordered off the lunch menu. My wife had a chicken burrito, enchilada style, and I went with the "3 rolled tacos" (Taquitos) and a cheese crisp from the Happy Hour menu. We really enjoyed everything--the decor, service, and authentic Mexican flavors. We plan to return when in Mesa.

This is the most average Mexican place. I went on a Monday so the margaritas were 99cents which was so fun! You get chips and salsa for free which I love, but the salsa was not good. Very sweet with no spice and it needs more salt for sure. I ordered churros with chocolate sauce and that was pretty average/underwhelming. They were a little hard, perhaps fried for a little too long. The service was fine. The restaurant is super cute inside, the vibes are great.

"Carne asada" plate with shredded beef not sliced as expected with carne asada.

I really wanted to like this place. We almost missed it twice because the sign on the street was not turned on and is covered by bushes. The pictures make it look fun place to eat. We came on a Friday afternoon and were the only ones there. That should have raised a red flag. The green sauce for the chips was sweet and the red had no heat. I ordered the carne asada plate as suggested by the server without any enthusiasm only to get machaca shredded beef not carne asada grilled steak We heard the microwave go off at least twice. She didn't know what vegetables came in the vegetarian burro. My husband's chimichanga tortilla was not crisp, but soggy straight from a the kitchen. The only good thing was the grilled vegetables. The rice was old and beans were not flavorful. The server came by once to see how things were when we were basically done eating. It took her almost 5 minutes to bring a box after being asked for one and still had to return with the bill. It is a shame. With the decor, this place could be nice, but the food quality and slow service is holding this place back. It must be the 99 cent margaritas that keep Ranch de Tia Rosa's doors open. It clearly is not the food based on my experience. Oh it is was warm inside which was nice in a chilly winter day, except for the restroom where the window was open, probably to keep it from smelling. The "hot" water never got warm when I washed my hands despite letting it run for a couple of minutes.

The ambiance inside and outside of the restaurant is great. They did a really good job decorating. However sadly, it seems like lately the quality of the food has gone down. It didn't seem as fresh as it was in the past. As I used to frequent Tia Rosa. The tamale and rolled tacos were both dry. The frijole burrito was alright. However the chips we received weren't even warm which again back to the freshness as I remember they always used to come out hot. Ambiance 8/10 Service 6/10 Flavor 4/10 Value 7/10 Cleanliness 6/10 Overall I don't think I would come back unless something changes. Which is disappointing as this used to be one of my favorite restaurants.

A Triumphant Comeback for Rancho de Tia Rosa - Don't Miss Out! For years, Rancho de Tia Rosa on McKellips Road was our go-to Mexican restaurant in Mesa, a vibrant spot for Baja-style flavors in a festive hacienda. Challenges like a fire, COVID, and ownership changes dimmed its shine, but if you've given up on Tia Rosa, give it another chance! Our visit today was mind-blowing, proving this Mesa gem is back in top form. The service was phenomenal. Our server, Jorge, was attentive, courteous, and hilarious, anticipating our needs with a warm smile. He made the meal unforgettable. Manager Heather was equally fantastic, sharing Tia Rosa's journey through tough times with passion. Her attentiveness made her a true ambassador for this spot. The food? Absolute perfection! The shrimp quesadilla, our old favorite, was a revelation--juicy shrimp, gooey cheese, crisp tortilla. The guacamole dip burst with freshness, paired with warm chips. Beans and rice were classic comfort, and the margarita--blended with a sugared rim--was a happy hour steal (2-6 PM, per their site). Everything arrived hot and generous, rivaling any Mesa Mexican spot. Prices are reasonable, especially compared to similar restaurants, The vibrant decor--Cuernavaca-inspired with colorful tiles--creates a perfect vibe for locals or visitors. If past visits disappointed, I promise you won't be let down now. Tia Rosa has reclaimed its crown as Mesa's premier Mexican destination. Thank you, Jorge and Heather, for an unforgettable experience. Go now for a fiesta of flavors!

We love Tia's and their margaritas are amazing, especially their blended raspberry dream with a sugar rim. You get pretty big portions as well. My only complaint is that the air never feels turned on in the restaurant, and that outside the mosquito population is insane, unfortunately out of anyone's control though. Otherwise, we love tia's! And they can make gluten free enchiladas!

This is such a cute place to eat. The staff was nice and helpful. I always place to go orderes and order the grande bean and cheese burrito. The tortillas are amazing and this is one of my favorite spots for this burrito. My husband ordered the rolled taqitos, not impressed with the presentation. The carmel churro was delicious! They also have some great weekday specials.

Food is just ok. Nothing spectacular at all. They used to have 99 cent margaritas, they do not do that anymore so no sense going .

Authentic Mexican food sounded perfect and I knew good things were in store when I arrived at 11:30am on a Friday and all of inside and outside tables were full. The inside is quaint but has quite a few tables. They also have tables out front in the shade (to call it patio seating may be a stretch, just simple tables and chairs on the exterior of the entrance). You order your food at the counter and I didn't study the menu ahead of time but the ladies taking my order were patient with me. I ordered a shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Nothing fancy for my first time as it's hard to golf on a full stomach! I found the only open table and then hit up the salsa bar. They have 4 or 5 different salsas/hot sauces and a few other goodies. I got a small cup of each sauce and all of them were quite good. My food was colorful, flavorful and just the right away to give me some energy without being lethargic. I could go on about a few other nice things but it seems most of East Mesa already knows about this place given the high scores on Yelp from a lot of reviewers. Nothing to prevent me from giving a 5* review at this time. I look forward to trying some more dishes in the future.

The parking lot outside was parking so we thought we may have to wait, but inside was not busy yet and we were seated immediately. I ordered the smoked chicken enchilada as I saw it was a Yelp favorite and it was delicious. I ended up taking half of it home since we all filled up on chips and salsa before our meal. This restaurant is decorated so cutely. I love how there is a Baja influence with all the surf boards but also southwest appeal. There is plenty of seating and tables for big groups. Even with other people yapping around us, the noise level was perfect to enjoy company. 10/10 would recommend.

There were heaters available if we needed them, as we sat outside. Our amazing and friendly server offered to turn the heaters on for us, but we didn't need them. Everything tasted amazing and was served fresh and in a timely manner. We will most certainly be back (and you should visit, too!)!
