Outstanding meal from this small, not much to look at (from the outside) restaurant. We asked a state park ranger for recommendations for local authentic Mexican food, and thank goodness we did. Only seeing the outside (which is easy to miss), I don't think we would have chosen Mi Casa. Inside was a quiet, comfortable atmosphere, and very small. Definitely a nice little "mom and pop shop." Service was outstanding, and since it appears that the primary employees are the chef and her husband, it is very easy to have questions answered and ask for recommendations or ingredients for food allergies. The food was very, very good. I won't claim to be a connoisseur of Mexican food, but it sure tasted good to our party of four. Being from Pennsylvania, and only traveling through, I'm not sure that I'll ever get back, but it's definitely on my list of places to get back to if I happen to be back in the area. read more

Yelpers led us to this little restaurant in Benson and they did NOT disappoint! We had a fantastic, authentic Mexican lunch of enchiladas, tacos, and flan. All were delicious and homemade, not to mention VERY filling. The service couldn't have been nicer. The carrot cake is awesome! Love the mom and pop feel. Chips are great, perfect salt and crispness. Portion size is perfect to leave room for dessert. You won't be let down. Went to Kartchner's Cavern and looked on yelp for a lunch spot. Great tips on location (next to rock shop) and what to eat (everything is great). My family gives this place 5 stars!!! The food was phenomenal! The kids even loved it and they are hard to please when there isn't chicken nuggets and french fries. We all ate everything on our plates plus dessert. The flan was soooo good, we could easily eat 5 of them and the carrot cake, OMG...no one likes carrot cake in my family and all of us gobbled it up! As mentioned in other reviews, a little hard to find as the restaurant is very small and set back from the road. And from the road it does not look very inviting, but the closer you get things improve quickly. Very cute inside and appears to be recently remodeled. But here's the best part, the food and service was outstanding! Four of us dined for lunch and we all had different dishes. Two of us are very particular about our Mexican food and we thought our dishes were great. The service was also outstanding. Allan, our server noticed a small gift that my wife received for her birthday that day, wished her a happy birthday and after the meal brought out a big piece of their fabulous carrot cake, on the house. I love carrot cake and my wife makes a great one, so I know of where I speak about carrot cake and believe this one was wonderful. So if you're in Bensen, don't miss this place! read more

Just went to Mi Casa for the first time, and am pleasantly surprised that there is such a great little gem in Benson. The special of the day, Shrimp Enchiladas were perfection. The presentation was well made, and the enchiladas were fresh and hot, with very well balanced flavors. The carrot cake is a huge hunk of carroty goodness, topped with a glaze and crushed walnuts. The glaze added sweetness without going overboard and was a nice alternative to the standard cream cheese. I am definitely going back! read more

We were avid to try this little restaurant based on the rave reviews on Yelp. Sadly, it was a rather lackluster experience for us. First of all, we weren't fond of the salsa served at the beginning with chips. For our main courses, we had the shrimp enchiladas and the enchiladas banderas. As opposed to numerous accolades here, we found the flavors ordinary, even bland. The carrot cake with rum sauce was also just ordinary. On the plus side, the wait staff was quite nice and attentive, and the presentation was impressive. I wish that were enough to entice us back, but it's a long drive for ordinary food, when there are other wonderful and much closer Mexican restaurants in the Tucson area. read more

The best taco salad of my life! We stayed the night in Benson, Az on our way back to Ontario, Canada, and we found this little Mexican restaurant around the corner from our RV park. I had the best taco salad I've ever had! My husband had a mixed platter. The portions were perfect! Not too much but certainly enough! The presentation was excellent! My husband took a photo, because he was so impressed! He never takes photos! He loved that they served each food item separately on the platter. Not only did it look stunning, it also looked so appetizing! It was a surprising little restaurant! Obviously a successful restaurant with a steady flow of people. Best place to eat in Benson. I ordered the chili relleno and tacos with rice and beans. My son had the peanut butter and jelly with rice and beans. My husband had the chimichanga with half steak and half chicken. All of us enjoyed our meals and will definitely come back on our next trip to Benson. It's very rare to find a full 5 star restaurant with over 100 reviews, but after eating a Mi Casa, I get it. This place is well worth the full 5. I stopped in for mid-week lunch with some co-workers and was very impressed. It is small and unassuming from the outside. Step inside, and yes it is still small but plenty of tables available when we arrived. After enjoying lunch, I'd gladly wait for a table on a busy day. Service was top notch... friendly, attentive, quick. The food was excellent. I had the enchilada sampler. I had one beef, one chicken, and one cheese enchilada. All 3 were savory and perfectly cooked. My favorite was the beef which had a green chile sauce that was tangy and just hot enough. Prices are reasonable, and portions are large. I'm not in Benson often, but when I'm back I'll be stopping by Mi Casa again! read more

If you are lucky enough to travel through when they are open, do yourself the favor of stopping for the best Mexican food I've had. They've been able to coax each ingredient into releasing its secrets. The Enchiladas Banditos let's you sample three different sauces, each stands alone but plays well with its counterparts. My wife had the shrimp tacos and enjoyed the freshness and textures along with it's mild chipotle sauce. This place is awesome. The chips and salsa they start you off with was very good. Was spicy then it was gone. Even people that cant handle spicy can eat this. I had a 3 item plate and everything on the plate was very tasty. The food presentation was great as well. We had the carrot cake for dessert and it was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. I'll start by sharing that my favorite Mexican food is Sonoran style probably because that's what I've eaten most of my life. That said, I found the food at this restaurant tasty and beautifully plated. I ordered the Burrito on the Run with ground beef, enchilada style with both the red and green sauces. I found the addition of shredded cabbage a nice touch to balance the other flavors. The sauces were more mild than I prefer but we're still very pleasing. My wife ordered the Popeye enchiladas, which as one might guess has spinach as the star but the corn adds a pleasant surprise to each bite. Finally, the carrot cake is a must try dessert. I don't associate a Mexican restaurant with carrot cake but this carrot cake was outstanding. It is incredibly moist, then topped with a sauce that puts it over the top in a satisfying way. Bottom line, I wouldn't make it my go to place for Mexican food because of my Sonoran style preference but I would definitely eat here again when traveling in the Benson area. read more

The best meal we had in Arizona. I'm used to good quality seafood, So even though i heard good things on yelp about the shrimp enchiladas I was still dubious. But they were really good. Good quality shrimp and a very tasty and light sauce. Everything was prepared so well that it stood up to bring reheated the next day! We also had a beef taco which was good. Good refried beans. Not spicy at all, like all the Mexican food we had in Arizona. An Anglo guy waited in us and seemed to be manager/owner. I don't understand the salsa they put out at the beginning of the meal though.
