Muy Malo. We saw this place was raided by ICE and the IRS from what we saw on the local news. What does that tell you? Don't waste your time here. Although the inside was clean looking, our experience was terrible. Shortly after watching that news story, this location shut their doors for months with out of business signs taped to the door. First time trying this little place. Good food and good service! I had the chile verde plate. Meat was tender and flavorful without being super spicy. Hubby had the shrimp enchiladas with verde or suiza sauce. He was very pleased with his as well. The rice was fluffy and beans had good flavor. My husband and I tried this place out since it was 10 minutes from home. We went on Monday about 2 pm. I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and he ordered a cheese enchilada and taco. The lunch special showed a chicken enchilada and beef taco for $12, but they wouldn't change the enchilada to cheese. So his meal cost $3 more. That was very strange. A cheese enchilada is cheaper than chicken. My husband was thrilled with his food, including beans. The chips and salsa were just okay. My chimi had good flavor, however it was way too spicy for me. I don't care for beans, so I had rice, which was probably a 2 out of 5. There were red peppers in the rice, which is one ingredient that I hate. I will order a la carte next time. Prices were high but portions were generous. Service was good. Atmosphere was pleasant and clean. Overall a decent experience. read more

The food was excellent and delicious for my husband and I. He had street tacos for Taco Tuesday and I had the fish tacos. We ordered a side of refried beans, which were delicious. To me, beans are the deal breaker for Mexican cooking. I would have given a five star except I had requested my pico on the side because of an issue I have with onions. We have stopped in twice for an early dinner the last couple of months and both times had a great experience. It is very close to our house, and we typically drive farther to another place that we have gone to for years but there prices have increased and portions decreased so we thought we would give Taco Giro a few more tries. They were quite busy, lots of take out/pick up orders and the dining room was busy. We were greeted warmly and they brought water and chips/salsa right away. They have a large menu to choose from but we tend to order certain dishes and this last visit was no exception. My husband got the mixed Fajitas which had tons of meat and super hearty and flavorful. My Chilaquiles were incredibly good as well. We actually both had Micheladas as well and I must say they do a GREAT Michelada (Modelo was our beer of choice.) They must do their own mix, as it was super robust and zesty. My husband got the one with shrimp and it was like a shrimp cocktail hybrid with BIG fresh shrimp. We found the ladies who were serving to be very friendly and attentive. While it seemed a smidge short staffed with all the take out/dine in (who isn't these days) they did a great job delivering great customer service. I know this place gets mixed reviews, but for us it will be our new close to home Mexican restaurant. read more

Went to Taco Giro in Vail yesterday for a friend's birthday party. I've been to many Mexican restaurants but this was hands down the best!! I ordered the mixed fajitas. The first plate to arrive was half refried beans and half rice then came the main dish.... Oh my! It was a huge heap of meat and vegetables. And so delicious!!! The waitress was super attentive and kept filling up drinks and water and bringing more chips for us to snack on. Then at the end they brought out some flan for the birthday boy. Home-made and SO GOOD! We asked the chef to come out so we could compliment him. Overall experience was wonderful. This place should be on your list of go-to's! read more

My wife and I had lunch today (Tuesday) and took advantage of the "taco Tuesday" specials. They serve street tacos for 1.99 which is quite the deal. These were not skimpy little tacos either! I'm extremely happy we have a Mexican restaurant in Vail (especially one with such a variety of seafood). Here's the thing, if you walk out of this establishment 'hungry' there's something really wrong because the portions are quite substantial. It's always exciting to get a new restaurant here in Vail. I've heard a lot of hype about Taco Giro. It seems a little odd to have a Mexican restaurant open up directly across from Fitos, especially with such high prices, but it looks like seafood is their specialty, so hopefully there's enough of a niche that both places can survive. The big sign out front says "take-out and delivery only" but the place is packed on a Friday at noon. Literally packed. There is no social distancing, and this place is small. They also don't currently offer online ordering, so I'm not sure if delivery is even a thing. Hopefully it will be, because that would be convenient. I entered, surrounded by people, and was given a full menu. I had to ask for a lunch special menu. They have very limited choices for lunch for 8.99. I decided to order from the main menu. Chile relleno + cheese enchilada + rice/beans for 11.99. I was told it would be a 20 min wait, so I sat outside. If you have Covid concerns, you definitely want to sit outside. This place is a Covid nightmare. There is no signage requiring masks, and one small bottle of sanitizer at the front, presumably for employee use. While i was there no one used it. Bare hands wrapped silverware. They have a small bar (six seats) and 10 tables, most seating four. Definitely not a place for groups. Besides Covid issues, the biggest problem I see is organization. They seem to have no system. After 15 min outside, many people cleared out, so I went in and sat at the bar. 2 closed containers of food were sitting at the food window, and no one looked at it. I realized that I hadn't paid, and they hadn't taken my name. I asked the bartender if I could pay. There was confusion and it took asking several servers before they find the one who took my order. She came over and I paid. She said it would be "ready soon", then went over to the window. Lo and behold! The remaining food that had been sitting for at least five minutes getting cold was mine! They do include chips and salsa with take out, so that's nice. The salsa is pretty good, freshly made. The beans had a canned taste, but good consistency. There was a weird sour flavor to them. The rice was fluffy, pretty average. The cheese enchilada wasn't too greasy, and was generous with the cheese filling. The sauce was mediocre. It tasted very Americanized. The relleno was really good. The batter was fluffy, lots of cheese filling. Really no complaints. Overall, it was definitely less greasy than most Mexican places, so that was nice. The food is about average. But the service needs some desperate help. read more
