I've been to many Colombian restaurants and eaten more recalentados than I should have but the one from Mi Casita Bakery is one of the, IF not the best one I've had (except for mine). The rice and beans, the arepa , eggs and chicken tasted so fresh with amazing flavor. Prior to that we ate a buñuelo and pan de polo and you tasted the ingredients, not the grease like you do at other locations. It's not the first and definitely the last time I eat here. Randomly stopped by after trying to go to the Mexican restaurant next door but there was no hostess or staff to be seen there, so came across this busy bakery. Ordered 3 items: Sancocho soup is superb with tender chunks of beef ribs and mixture of yuca, potatoes, plaintains was really satisfying. The whole fried fish was fresh and a great bargain at under $13. The bandeja paisa was huge and came with the typical options and was very delicious. Great place overall..although this is primarily a bakery, the space was packed and most customers also ordered non bakery foods. They only speak Spanish so be prepared to point at menu items if you don't. read more

I miss this place so much! When I was a Broward girl I would religiously come here almost on a weekly basis. This is my favorite Colombian restaurant. Coffee is the best! Empanadas are to die for! From their pan de bono (cheese bread) morcillas con papas (blood sausage with potatoes), choclo (corn cake with cheese on top), to their delicious chicken soup and pretty much everything else on the menu is fantastic. And you can't forget the Bandeja Paisa... The main characteristic of this dish is the generous amount and variety of food in a traditional bandeja paisa: red beans cooked with pork, white rice, chicharrón (fried pork rinds), steak, fried egg, platano maduro (plantain) and arepa. The only negative is their seating. It's such a small place and dining-in is always a game of musical chairs here but I usually take it to go. read more

I wanted to share my experience so customers know how the owner of this restaurant deals with human beings in need. After what I saw I will not be returning. You'll make your own decisions, but I've made mine. A homeless man was in the restaurant, a lady offered to pay for his food. The owner came up to him trying to discretely tell him to "get his s**t and leave." The woman walked back over to defend the man and the owner turned on her, raising his voice and saying "this is my store and until someone pays my rent I make the rules". He said the homeless man was annoying the customers but in reality (at least for me) I didn't notice him until the owner started making a scene. I'm not telling anyone not to go here I'm simply sharing my experience. As I said earlier, everyone makes their own decisions, but I will not be returning. read more

This bakery location was much needed, as there isn't anything worth it close by University Drive and Pines Blvd. They have many different types of pastries, empanadas, and other baked goods along with soups, and regular food. Don't be discouraged by the crowds when you walk in. The employees will take care of you fast. They have a number system, so make sure you grab your number when you walk in. The empanadas are delicious and topped with the picante, they are amazing. You'll want to order at least 3 of these. I also recommend the arepas con queso and the morcilla (blood sausage). The reason why I am giving it three stars is because this should be a takeout only place. They have two tables that only sits two people. The ladies were fast at taking our order and the food was good. I do feel that you can get more for your buck at other Colombian restaurants. The place is more of a cafe rather than a sit down restaurant. The location was clean and busy and the plaza can be a bit hard to find parking. We did enjoy the food, but felt that it was a bit overpriced. I just cannot pass a Colombian place and not go in and order from them. The ladies were very tending to see what we needed. I tried but I will probably not go out of my to go in here. There is so much competition with Colombian restaurants around this area, you can try something else and probably be the same. Located in the same plaza as Cafe Iguanas, My Tierra restaurant and Broward meat and fish market. This Colombian gem use to be ( and it still Kinda is) one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is not great most of them don't speak English but they will try to help you out, don't let that hold you back from giving this place a try. Most of the times you will think they are being rude because they really don't let you think about what you want and they will rush you into making the order quick but bare with them lol, it even hard for me to order from them and I am a native Spanish speaker. Food is great try the fritanga ( morcilla con papá o arepa,chorizo,chicharrón and empadnadas) they are great and you won't find a cheaper Colombo place around, always ask for aji, they won't give them to you unless you ask and lime as well.
