The food was good tonight. The service was fast and friendly. I had the Pollo Bandido which was very good. They have the best corn tortillas. One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Etown. My only complaint is there needs to be more lighting. When you're sitting in a booth it is too dark to read the menu. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for a long time and every single time I get the same meal. A chicken burrito with rice and beans. Every single time I tell them chicken they give me beef. There is a huge difference in a cow or a chicken. I do not like the fact that once I get home it is never the correct meat inside the burrito. I like how they offer an a la carte fajita quesadilla as I don't typically eat a full quesadilla and sides so I like the cheaper option that offers less waste. Not going on record calling their food "authentic" - but it's certainly better served than most (if not all) of the Mexirican / Amerixican places in Elizabethtown. Have eaten here about five dozen times with groups, plus takeaway 2 or 3 times...generally ordering differently for each visit, and trying friends' food, when it looked interesting. Given that, you're better off ordering their specialties (duh!) and more traditionally (or uniquely) described items than stock standard and boring Taco Bell-esque items. The location is more family oriented and nicer (in terms of décor, setting, intention, and service) than most of the fairly decrepit other similar options in town. The restaurant is filled with tables and booths featuring brightly colored carved wood, not tired out formica booths or banquet rental chairs. (ETA: this review was written when there was a difference.) They have a full liquor license, but there isn't a bar, so while they have happy hour type specials weekly, the setup with booths and tables lends itself to less...um...well, drunken awfulness. Service is ok - a little disjointed, even for a family restaurant. One recent meal for three involved an equal number of servers involved in food service (and we didn't have appetizers or dessert or adult beverages). It was just all a little "I hope someone already did whatever you needed, because I'm not even a little motivated to care, maybe someone else will deal with that, if not..." ETA: Service suffering lately (December 2016 onward) - individuals are trying hard and friendly, but they seem ill-trained and badly managed: for example, host leaving folks standing at the entrance without acknowledgment, for no real reason. This is not a 'quantity over quality' establishment. In this part of the state, that alone merits three stars. Normed to the area beyond local folks, this place is more of a 3.25 - 3.5. Don't make it a destination, but it's worth a try if you're in the mood and in the area. ETA: They have added a website that was fairly useless for awhile, but now appears to list the menu available at this location. Excellent for a quick lunch! Lunch specials. Great chips and salsa. Chicken soup is a must! Lots of options for lunch. Lots of seating inside and out. Located in a strip mall so parking can be tricky at times. Great prices and fast friendly service. We frequent this place for lunch each time we are pleased. Best Mexican in the area! Large selection, varied menu. Beautiful, bright colors in the decor-very cheerful. Friendly servers who accommodate any request. They bring you mild and hot salsa and delicious tortilla chips that do not have salt on them which is a great asset for those of us watching our salt intake. The owner is a delight! He helped me with an issue recently with a gift certificate and was absolutely amazing. I recommend this place highly. My favorite place to eat. The lunch menu has something for everyone. My girlfriend (who is very picky) found something she liked herself. The chips and salsa are fantastic. I really enjoyed this place over most local chains like el nopal and el Tarasco. Went here 07/10/18 with a large group which we had called ahead. Didn't wait very long for our tables to be ready. Then we waited for 45 minutes for anyone to come take our drink orders, By then everyone had gone through their chips and salsa. After another 25 minutes we finally placed our food order. Had a very hard time getting our ONE server to refill any drinks or chips/salsa. Then finally after another 45 minutes we received our food which I had a fajita and it didn't come sizzling like they always do and you could tell it had been sitting for a while. People were missing their food or it was wrong. So after two hours of finally waiting to eat I scraped my food into a to go box, paid and left. Definately our family's new "to go to" restaurant. When our family walked in the door we were pleasantly surprised by the festive and colorful surroundings that really put is in the mood for a good mexican dinner. No chicken mole (mid latinos know what I'm talkin bout) so I ordered camarones a la diabla, wow did the food come out fast , the rice being cooked already I understand but the shrimp were def not cooked to order, not to say it's a bad thing but your definitely getting precooked and peeled shrimp. I ate there recently on a Tuesday about 3 pm. There was only one table of customers when I arrived and table of six came in as I was leaving. The service was poor to nonexistent. Most of the time I was there, my server spent his time leaning against the cash register speaking Spanish to another server across the room who was leaning against an empty booth. To me, this created an uncomfortable atmosphere. I felt like I was intruding. My server did not offer to get me more salsa while I continued to wait for my food. I had to request tableware after my meal was delivered to my table. Another off putting thing was a hand written sign on the door as I entered. It requested customers to tip their servers because tips were not included in prices. I have eaten in all the Mexican restaurants in E'town but have never had such a poor experience nor bland food. read more

We stopped for a late lunch. The price was very good for lunch items. We had chicken fajitas for $6.95 and they were very good. The salsa doesn't look special but it has a good flavor. It just doesn't have chunks in it, it's like it was blended. But good flavor. We arrived at 2:30 and were the only ones here, so we had quick and friendly service.
