Talk about a nice surprise ... while on my way to a nice little aquatic shop we saw this place & decided to swing back by on our way home for lunch. What a great decision. It's in an older shopping center off of Academy & North Carefree. We were seated immediately (arrived kinda early) and were given some chips, salsa & delicious refried bean dip! Those beans!! Winner, winner!! They are so addictive & you can tell homemade in the traditional way. I knew we had to come back and bring my mom, she loves good homemade refried pinto beans. Hubbs ordered a modelo I had a mangonada - so good! We shared the molcajete and that was also very good. The corn tortillas also taste hand made. We thoroughly enjoyed our food & had a nice bit left to take home! SECOND TRIP IN WITH MOM FOR MOTHERS DAY A FEW DAYS LATER: We three shared the Parillada of grilled meats including short ribs (gotta say I've never seen short ribs in this dish) with veggies & it was amazing!! One of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. The restaurant was packed which was a good sign. They have a vast menu, almost too big. Pricing is adequate compared to other places. Had a delightful lunch with my brother. I ordered the "three little pigs" pork sampler and had delicious pork carnitas and other pork dishes (can't remember their names). Service was warm and friendly and very responsive. Serving sizes were huge. read more

This restaurant is charming and spacious on the inside. Staff were friendly and very prompt. I booked a large group of 12 for an event on a Thursday evening and everything turned out great! This was honestly one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. I specifically ordered a skinny margarita and made it very clear to the waiter that I did NOT want a regular margarita because I don't like the sugary mix. The whole point of ordering "skinny" is to avoid all the extra juice and syrup. He acted like he understood. What he brought was absolutely not a skinny margarita. It had orange juice and who knows what else in it. It was sweet and loaded with mixers. I didn't realize until later when I questioned him and he casually explained everything he had added. That completely defeats the purpose of ordering skinny. The taquitos appetizer was average at best. Nothing special. I didn't even finish it. I ordered sopapillas expecting actual sopapillas, but it was basically fluffy fried bread with honey. Very underwhelming. When I asked him to remake the margarita properly, thinking he would at least acknowledge the mistake, he brought out something that tasted like watered-down tequila. It barely resembled a margarita. At that point I was done. Now here's the part that really upset me: the bill. I was charged what appeared to be $25 for the margarita, then an additional charge of around $15 labeled for "skinny," plus $12 for a shot. A regular margarita is around $12. So somehow two badly made drinks and one shot came out to roughly $65. I may be slightly off on exact numbers because I don't have the receipt in front of me, but it was around that amount. There is absolutely no justification for that pricing. It felt like I was taken advantage of and overcharged. Especially after the drinks were made incorrectly. Instead of correcting the mistake, I was charged even more. I called the next day to speak to a manager. The person who answered said the manager wasn't there and told me to call back. I got busy and haven't had the chance to follow up, but at this point I want others to be aware. The place itself looks nice. The food is mediocre. But the drink pricing practices feel dishonest and predatory. Be very careful when ordering cocktails here and check your bill closely. I will not be returning. read more

My good friend and I love to go to Mi Mexico at happy hour and get some margaritas and a Mexican pizza! The owners, managers, employees, etc...are all fantastic to us and remember us every time! It's always kinda chilly inside, so bring a jacket or sweater. It's the one thing that makes me leave sooner than I want...I'm freezing! That's probably a personal thing, but my friend agrees. The service here was AMAZING...the food was Gringo version Mexican. I feel one can tell how good a Mexican place will be by the Salsa. The salsa here was watery. that was my first tip off. They also served the chips and salsa with refried beans. It was cool...but Gringo refried beans. I wasn't crazy hungry and got a chicken tostada. The chicken was cooked perfectly....but the tostada was a LOT of lettuce. This place has potential...I'd be willing to go back for the darned asada to really put them to the test. read more

We were looking for a new Mexican restaurant. We ordered take out and when I got home, just 10 minutes later, the food was cold. We were so disappointed. The guacamole was so sour, all you could taste was lime. My wife ordered a chimichanga and all it had was beef inside. I ordered a relleno, cheese enchilada and taco. I got a tamale instead of a taco. The relleno was soggy and had little flavor. We ordered refried beans but received flavorless pinto beans. This was my first visit to this restaurant. The restaurant was very clean, food was very good and the portion size was very large. My only issue was my server, he was not very attentive. He never refilled my drink and kept asking were we done, that was the only time I really saw him. Four of us went there on Mothers day and it was VERY busy. I was impressed at how well the servers handled such a stressful situation. It took longer than usual to get our food, but we expected that. As you walk in it seems like it will be authentic since it is decorated pretty well but it all honesty I ordered 3 pastor tacos and a flan. The tacos lacked meat, the tortillas were dull, the flavor was their but NO PINEAPPLE, now that threw me off, their salsa verde was bland too. Their flan was decent not amazing but decent consumable, they add way to much whipped cream on it that you can't see the flan but i managed but just removing some of to the end of the dish. BUT THE SERVER who took care of me was so honest that when I told her they were not really good and asked why no pineapple, she politely told me that though they have good reviews they aren't very authentic due to the regulars but she wrote the best locations in the area for good authentic Mexican food. When I came in the first time, I was a bit stressed by $6 for a taco, but quickly realized that was pretty normal for COS. The enchiladas divorciados were excellent'. The atmosphere with upbeat Mexican music made out meal great!! The staff were kind and friendly.

Cold food and carnitas burrito had rice and beans and a sliver of meat. Server messed up one of 4 meal orders. nice looking place.

Food is great and the amount for your dollar is absolutely worth it. Always have friendly service and open late.

I went there for lunch today.....been trying a lot of different Mexican Restaurants for the last four years.....This was a big disappointment. No one was friendly or smiling....took forever to get seated.....Menu looked good....lots of choices....got a Chile Relleno and Cheese Enchilada....plate was swimming into much sauce and runny refried beans....enchilada had no red sauce....everything covered with green chile.....overall taste was mediocre at best....one of the worst restaurants I've tried in the last two years.....sorry but that's the truth....will not go there again read more

We went to Mi Mexico being referred from someone else and seeing they had 4.5 stars. I know yesterday was Cinco de Mayo so we wanted to have a night out with friends. We put our names on the list and set in the bar area ordering margaritas. Went back to the hostess and asked where we were in line and we had two groups of two in front of us, told them we were in the bar area. They never came and got us and crossed are names off as leaving. Why would we leave being that close to being set. Went back up and they asked if we would be okay sitting on the patio we said yes since we had already been waiting. 30 minutes later with us having to go get our own waters no one waited on us. One guy waiting on 5 tables outside and 4 inside. We left and most likely will never try again. It's the busiest day of the year for you make sure you have enough people or don't sit anyone outside. read more

Against my better judgement. I tried Mi Mexico for lunch today. For me, the food was edible, but very bland. I like food with spice. I had the Chili Verde lunch special, it was just ok. The food quality appears good, but the pork (even in tomatillo sauce) was a bit dry, and again, there was no spiciness to this dish whatsoever. I will say, that the corn tortillas were on point. I typically judge Mexican food on the rice and beans. The beans were good, the rice not so much. I did notice that much of the clientele while I was there were senior citizens so maybe this is the reason for no spice? Just not my new favorite. read more

We have really liked this place. Food is good but have had a couple of problems when ordering to go. Last night they got our order wrong. Left off beans and rice, because they thought I ordered just a burrito. I was charged accordingly but ordered a chicken burrito rice and beans. They gave me red sauce when I asked for green chili on the side. The food was barely warm. We were told 20-25 minutes but when we got there within 20 there were very few cars in parking lot ‍. Plus there was no chips! They said we could come in the next day but.... didn't make it in, for the rice and beans?
