The rising inflation of tacos across NYC has been a thing now in the last few years and even one of my cheaper haunts in Mi Mexico Lindo could not escape it. First debuting at $1.50 a taco, Mi Mexico Lindo is now the standard $3 each for their regular lineup of tacos. More glamorous fillings like bucho, lengua, or tripita will run one at $3.50 each, but at the very least they stuff their tortillas quite full. They tend to bounce around a lot in the 80s along Roosevelt. Once a mainstay on 84th, I've seen the cart on 87th as well as 82nd, and usually a crowd of hungry taco lovers surrounding it. I've always appreciated their generous toppings laid out across their narrow counter, condiments of which allow folks to customize their taco however they like. For me, it was always plenty of salsa, a little crema, cilantro, lime, and healthy dollop of their salsa'd guacamole. Tacos aside, I also appreciated the fact the were among the few that would also rock tortas, flautas, and especially chalupas in their offerings. The spread of the frijol paste and the crispiness of the grilled masa was always a treat. Drown it all down with a jarritos of choice; it was really the perfect capper to a street feast. Taco carts are popping up everywhere with all sorts of unique spins of their own puebla inspired fare. I'm hoping Mi Mexico Lindo is able to last as the competition gets fierce. read more

The driest plainest chicken taco in my life. They didn't have any limes or guacamole. The sauces they did provide tasted watered down with a hint of fridge taste. The only thing that saved these tacos were the full cup of jalapeños they gave me that helped me swallow this down. read more

*3rd Stop on Jeff O's 2010 Roosevelt Avenue Food Crawl* A less than stellar taco cart on this stretch of Roosevelt Avenue. Our food crawl inundated the cart, and they never seemed able to recover. It took the longest time to order a carnitas taco ($2) with a Toronja Jarritos ($1). The grapefruit flavored soda was obviously good. The taco was surprisingly bad. The tortillas had an interesting texture, but that did not help much. The meat tasted slightly of flour and was kind of dry. The added ingredients of guacamole sauce, onions, and cilantro really failed to come together. I was debating whether or not I should finish it, but I ultimately stuck it out. For comparison, all of the other taco carts I tried along Roosevelt Avenue were considerably better. read more

Located on the corner of Gleane St. & Roosevelt Ave. in front of Sovereign Bank, two ladies serve a variety of tacos ($2), tortas ($4), tostadas ($2) and more. For my first visit, I ordered a Taco de Carnitas (roasted pork) ($2), Taco de Bistec (Beef) ($2), and Quesadilla de Bistec ($2). Ordering was a bit hard as they spoke mostly spanish with a few words of English. Since I haven't spoken Spanish for a while, I had some difficulties, but was able to order for the most part. For the tacos, they will serve your choice of meat on two taco shells and ask you if you want the other sides on top, including cilantro, guacamole, and raw diced onions. It took about 5 minutes for my order to be prepped. Located in front of the cart is a variety of sides that you can also add (green sauce, hot sauce, lime wedges, etc.). The food was served sizzling hot, almost too hot to handle. The taco de carnitas was fairly tasty but could have used a bit more seasoning. I also found the carnitas to be slightly on the dry side. The real highlight was the bistec (beef) which I ordered in Taco and Quesadilla fashion. The bistec was tender, juicy and very flavorful. I would have easily ordered 2 or 3 of these. I thought the Quesadilla version was a bit tastier, instead of two soft shell tacos, they serve it open faced on one taco shell with which I believe Oaxaca cheese is also sprinkled on top. Although the ingredients are pretty similar, I found it be so much more juicier and flavorful. If you're taking a stroll down Roosevelt Ave., definitely make a pitstop here. 3 stars but I am being generous. Hot or cold they are sitting inside. I admire those who have food trucks and food stands. Finding good tacos in NYC is not hard. Finding full menu Mexican restaurants is almost impossible. There are several good ones in Jersey one good one in The Bronx that I gave 5 stars to only for their menu selection but really if it was in LA it would get 3 stars. They are situated in front of bank across the street from other taco restaurants. So they must be doing something right. There is also a group of older Mexican men hanging out. Sometimes you are just a bit hungry, but just wanted a quick bite. Was hoping that taco would hit the spot. I ordered a carne taco ($2.50). Since all of my friends were ordering, it took a few minutes before my taco was ready. I think the flavor was pretty good, but the meat was on the dry side. I've only had the tacos here, but at only $2 a pop, they're delish! I most recommend the bistec, chicken and carnitas - in that order. Considering that I've been waking by this cart almost everyday for about 2 years, it's pretty shocking that I've only eaten from here twice (something that I totally plan on remedying) and today was the first time I checked in because I didn't even realize that this modest taco cart even HAD a Yelp check-in! My friend really likes their lengua tacos. I tried the lengua and carnitas tacos and didn't like them so much but the prices are very cheap and they are very generous with their meat. I just find the flavoring to be a bit more bland or not to my taste compared to say Los Tacos Numero Uno. To be honest my bar for tacos is really high because I'm from SoCal and the night I was there, they were out of the al pastor, which is what I like the most, so I may need to give this place another try, but I did see a lot of locals waiting for their orders. I don't know about "lindo," but these tacos are definitely sabroso. The carne enchilda and al pastor tacos had juicy, marinated meat, sweet in the latter case and spicy in the former, with sauteed diced onions and sprigs of cilantro. My friends seemed to enjoy the chicken, beef, and veggie tacos as well. I liked the condiments bar where you could add your own radishes, hot peppers, green, red, and avocado salsas, and fresh lime to taste. We were looking for the Tacos Guicho truck, but either it wasn't there that Sunday, or the address on Yelp is wrong. In any case, the tacos from Mi Mexico Lindo hit the spot. read more

Tacos here are AMAZING !!!! WAIT ! Not just the tacos but EVERYTHING !!!! If you are really hungry just eat outside the cart, But like me i either eat the food in my car or take it home because the 7 train is just right above this delicious cart of Mexican food heaven. Was a huge fan of the tacos but not their Tostadas have taken over my heart. Their delicious & everything here is less then 10 bucks if im not mistaken even less. Not going back! I asked for 2 quesadillas with cheese. The woman said "only cheese?" and I said "yes, just vegetarian", and she laughed at me! Who laughs at their customers? That wasn't too bad. Mi Mexico Lindo food truck is the best place to stop after you finished throwing up in the bathroom of a bar on a late Friday night. Stopping in for a torta or a hurrache is definitely a must and a Queens rite of passage for party goers! Located next to Sovereign Bank, you can recognize the place from the large crowds it draws at night. Be prepared for "philosophical" talks with drunk men and men dressed as women hitting on you, hinting they want you to take them home. Once you hop over these hurdles, make sure to get the grilled chicken torta. The chicken torta is basically round crunchy homemade bread stuffed with large chunks of marinated grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, and red peppers. Make sure to drench your sandwich with their homemade hot sauce and pickles they keep in the front on the truck. Wash it down with their tamarind soda in a glass bottle and you are set for the trip back home. The wait is long, due to the large number of people who go there and you might have to muscle your way to the front to place your order. It pays to be assertive here, but the food is worth the trip and the heart to heart conversations with the drunk. read more

They have a lot of menu items to choose from but they always seem to be out of stock of something. I want to try the flautas but each time I've asked they don't have! We came here to eat a midnight snack. The line wasn't very long at all, but the wait was forever!! I mean, I guess that's a good thing because it means they are making it fresh? But when you're with two hungry boys and there's really no place to sit and wait... or stand and wait without being in someone's way walking on the sidewalk... well.. it's enough to be turned off a little. And that's only waiting with two people ahead of us. They also got our order wrong... which is weird to me because.. there were only two people ahead of us! In any case, the tacos were pretty good. The chicken was a little dry, but the beef and pork were excellent. It's also mondo cheap so that's always a plus. Maybe if it wasn't to humid and hot out (yes.. even at midnight), I would've had more patience.. but not this time. For something taking that long to be made, it should've been exceptional... and it wasn't. =(... Maybe next time?? read more

I came here as a part of a Jackson Heights food tour that I did with some friends and I thoroughly enjoyed by $2 al pastor taco.
