I was so disappointed today on my order from Mi Pueblos on Bee Ridge road . I ordered Carne Asada to go and when I got home which I only live 3 minutes from restaurant the food was not hot it was warm . If im gonna spend $20 for food I expect it to be hot with tip and tax it was $25 and then I called and spoke to manager Carlos who said they can't cook it hot like they do at restaurant because it would melt the plastic container that they use . I don't by that excuse other places i order from use same container and food is hot . read more

I wish I could rate different parts of the experience because the service was EXCELLENT! They were putting chips and salsa on my table before my butt hit the seat. From the Especialidades de la Casa (House Specials) I ordered the Taco del Pastor. 3 great tasting soft corn tortillas filled with chorizo, beef, onions and cilantro. Served with Spanish rice and re-fried beans. The menu had many great Mexican dishes. The service was great. The dining looked Aztec with real Mexican paintings and decor, true culture. Disappointed fast food dinner. I failed to capture the lure to this restaurant. The nachos are good; however the red sauce is bland. Missing flavor but had bits of tomato. One of their menu option is pick two for $11.95. The pick 2 comes with rice and beans. I had the enchilada Suiza and the enchilada verde. The Suiza is chicken with cheese that was very tender and flavorful. The verde is beef with green sauce. The green sauce was not my favorite. The portions of the enchiladas were small and thin, about a quarter of the plate. The remainder was filled with dry rice that was pre-made and the remainder of the plate was filled with refried beans. The beans were good. There was a small portion of chopped lettuce and tomato. The other dish of pick two - was the enchilada Suiza and tamel. The tamel was layered in cheese and still in the husk, which made it difficult and very messy to eat. Same dry rice and refried beans. Road trips from my job had me discover this great place by accident. It's really, really good! Mostly a Tex-Mex menu like most of us gringos are used to, with a few authentic Mex stand-outs? Their lunch specials are fantastic, with large portions at a decent price. And once again, my baselines for judging ANY "Mex" food: both their simple table salsa and refried beans are excellent! Like the "Old El Paso" gringo-Mex fare my Mom made me when I was a kid, I will always love crispy corn tacos! Mi Pueblo's here are maybe the best I have ever had? They actually fry their own corn tortilla shells to cater to the gringo-taco-loving crowd. A bit misshapen, which I love, these are a creation of true, culinary beauty! Outside of what I learned to make at home now, I've never had any better! I'm always looking forward to my next road trip down South and hope I can squeeze another visit here into my travel plans! read more

I walked in and as soon as I sat down, a lady came by with the salsa and chips. I asked for some extra cilantro and they gave me a large cupful! I love their Margaritas. They are sweet and tart. I had one and they now serve it in a larger glass. I had the enchilada Verde, the enchilada suiza, and the pork tamale. I was so hungry I actually ate the whole thing! I was disappointed in this mi pueblo location. The salsa was not good. Not fresh and kind of sweet. The chips were not fresh or house made. Pretty much chips out of a bag with no salt. The menu is misleading. A menu should include every main component of a dish so that a customer can make exclusions based on taste or allergies. The Mexican rolls for example: the menu leads you to believe it is only beans beef and corn. In reality it seems to have lettuce, tomato, onion and perhaps some other ingredients. The enchilada suiza was decent, as were the chicken taquitos. Taco was as expected. Their shredded chicken is pretty good. I feel like the food isn't that fresh. When I asked for chicken in the Mexican rolls instead of beef the waitress told she needed to ask because the thought they were pre made. Our food came out ridiculously quick. I was especially unimpressed with the fried ice cream. It was pre fried and over frozen. The outside was not warm at all and it arrived to my table less than a minute after ordering it. It was obviously just sitting in a freezer the whole thing was frozen solid with some chocolate sauce and whipped cream on top. Regardless it was sugar and it tasted okay. Just not real. I've been to the venice location many times and had no problems so this location is a definate step down. On the plus side, staff is very friendly. read more

All we ordered was a chicken fajita burrito, take out. After tax and a tip of only 1$, it was 16$. We're excited for what must be amazing at that price and we're unpleasantly surprised to find the most basic burrito ever. YUM. This place is wonderful. Great ambiance, waiters and waitresses are decked out in cool themed outfits, chips and salsa were good, along with great, street-style tacos. Outside is deceiving, it's a gem! And to round off the fantastic meal--sopapillas! Not the fried, sandy, chip thing other places tout as a sopapilla. These soft pillows of dough are perfect for dipping in honey and are a lovely finish to a lovely authentic (ish) meal. (This is Florida after all, so I'm assuming a few things are contextualized to this audience). Sadly, because we hoped we had found a new spot, it was no bueno. The salsa was tomato paste based- so thick & sweet- and they pour it out of a plastic drink pitcher at the table- presentation goes a long way with food and this was not a good look. Also had the waiter try to sell us their coupon book 3x. This made me feel uncomfortable and stressed out my enjoyment of the meal. Once was enough, we don't need the spiel 3x. I'm sure the wait staff is in some kind of contest for who sells the most coupon booklets but I don't need that pressure after a long day of work and trying to eat quietly with my spouse. Chips were good. Light and crispy. The salsa was a bit bland. They do not allow any changes at all to their lunch menu so I was stuck ordering something I didn't really want. An option was to order from the dinner menu and pay a few dollars more. They also didn't have any a la cart items on their menu. (Not a very "friendly" menu.) I ended up with the chicken enchilada and crispy chicken taco with rice and beans. Chicken enchilada, which is what I really wanted, was disappointing. Like the salsa it was lacking flavor. The melted cheese on it was just that, plain cheese. The chicken taco...I wanted beef so it won't be fair to comment on something I don't really care for to start with. I ate the enchilada and left most of the rest. I'm not likely to be back. When I told the lady who asked me how it was, and she confirmed no menu changes at all, that I wouldn't be back she simply said she doesn't make the menu the owners do then hurried away. read more

Been to this Mi Pueblo location a bunch of times (once to the Venice MP where the food was better). The food here comes out CRAZY fast, which makes me suspect. It really makes you wonder if they have vats of stuff sitting pre-made, heated and/or ready to nuke. It does get insanely busy at times, with a line even when they are ready to open. Maybe that's why they want to push food out ASAP to turn tables quicker, I dunno. On my last couple of visits the food was definitely TOTALLY mediocre. Even though the staff is just about nearly all Mexican (unusually tall ones too) one would think the food would reflect that, but NOT so. I like that the restaurant is in a freestanding building even though it's located in a strip mall. The decor and layout is nice for this small chain. I would only probably go there for drinks or minimally priced apps if I ever got the chance again. You may want to do the same on future visits if you happen to order any initial entrees that don't float your boat. read more
