Had a lovely time at this Mexican restaurant. The waitress was very sweet and pleasant and efficient. I love chips and salsa and I was able to get seconds when I finished off the first bowl. My 3 enchiladas were very good & served with refried beans and something else delicious. The margaritas came in small and large and since I was going to be driving home afterwards the small one was perfect for me. The place was clean, and pleasant, and prices were reasonable. This was our first visit to Mi Tenampa, and we were pleasantly surprised! A friend recommended it after we recently moved to the area, and since my husband and I rarely pass up a chance for Mexican food, we had to check it out. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding--even the cook came around to check on everyone's experience. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the carne asada enchiladas, and my husband ordered the arroz con pollo--both dishes were a solid 10/10. We also shared a regular pitcher of margaritas on the rocks, which went down smooth like water. The chips and salsa were pretty standard, but do note that if you ask for a refill, it's $2.99. One of the servers explained it's due to people coming in just for chips, salsa, and water. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I totally get it. The only downside of the evening was the trio dip. It included queso, bean dip, and guacamole, but the guacamole was mostly lettuce--pretty disappointing. It's advertised as house-made, but I've rarely had guac served with so much filler, especially with lettuce making up the entire bottom. That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, the food and service were top-notch, and we'd definitely return. I can't say enough good things about this place! Right when you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile. The staff are friendly and quite literally make you feel like part of their family. You can tell they have regulars because they stopped and chatted with almost all of their guests about "how they'd been." This is always my favorite thing about a local restaurant. The set up of the place is really spacious and makes you feel like you're in a courtyard! Learned about this place via Fox59 and tried it out for a late Saturday lunch as it was near the route of a trip we were making. Typical booth and table offerings in addition to a bar for seating. The employees are EXTREMELY pleasant and attentive. Prices are higher than what you see on their website, but still very reasonable. Food is excellent. My son devoured his Fiesta de Fajitas Trio. My wife's Enchilada's Veracruz was awesome. My Lunch Tamale was very good and I really enjoyed the mashed potato side that it came with. Surprisingly bad food. Their cheese is just shredded colby. The chicken nachos had a smattering of mushy chicken draped in cold cheese. The small amount of guacamole was watery. The wait staff is very pleasant but the kitchen needs help. My sister and mother both had stomach problems thereafter, I didn't eat much. The menu prices are all whited out and hand written with obviously higher prices. When management spends more money doing this than actually replacing menus, that's a clue that money is tight and explains the poor food quality. I just ordered takeout and the menu online does not reflect the correct prices. I asked why was there such a difference, they said inflation. Basically we paid $72 fir about $50 worth of food. The fajitas came in some sort of sweet sauce. I would have never ordered. I came in here actually not really wanting to, as a co-worker had told me she'd eaten here 2-3 times and each time it was just meh. But I'm always in search of decent Mexican. In the end, this was decent Mexican. Not great, but better than I expected. I had the carnitas, which were served as small medallions of pork, with refried beans (no rice, can't stand it), guacamole, pico and lettuce, all on fresh, hot flour tortillas (you can ask for corn tortillas instead). I thought they were pretty good. Again, not the best I've ever had, but better than I expected. The beans, guac and salad were ok. The tortilla chips and salsa were quite good, but the salsa was served in small bowls and I had to ask for refills twice. Washed it all down with unsweetened iced tea. The service was good, and the prices are a reasonable despite the signs posted around the restaurant stating that the prices have been jacked up because of inflation and the cost of doing business. The owner, formerly a chef at Abuelo's, has continued to provide flavorful food that's the hallmark of his prior employer. The nacho chips are always fresh and hot while the salsa is authentic. The salsa has just enough kick but not too hot. I have dined both in and to go. Tonight I ordered fajitas carry out along with an order of Tamales. The tortillas were nice and warm and the trio of meat well seasoned. The tamales did not disappoint as they were full of chicken and the meat sauce was an unexpected plus. There were only two negative reviews regarding this visit: 1. the prices on the web hasn't been updated so you might want to confirm the cost of your order 2. I never would have eaten here had it not been a favorite go-to place for my colleagues at work. During the weekdays there is always an available table and it isn't ever noisy. Weekends are different and have more traffic. Their chips are my absolute favorite- thin and crispy. They provide each person with their own salsa bowl and it's mild and fresh. I think this place gets overlooked by a lot of people including me. They have the best chips and more importantly, it's not that same Mexican menu u see at 90% of the other Mexican places. They offer some unique dishes, and they have different side dishes than most.bthe regular beans and rice are available, but They have a great version of mashed potatoes. The food offerings are similar to other Mexican Restaurants in town. But they do have some very different foods on the menu. Such as Pureed Papas. These are similar to mashed potatoes with Mexican Cheese. Very Good I must add. Potatoes are a big food in Mexico so why not here. The flan is to die for.
