Me and my wife took trip to Santa Claus Indiana and yes it is a real place. We stop in Carrollton KY for lunch why you ask well they have the best Mexican lunch buffet and yes I said Mexican buffet. They the best food I have had from a Mexican restaurant in a while. The buffet is lunch only but the food is like dinner. Put your large pants on and fill up on steak or chicken fajitas. Wings and baked fish also on the bar and very tasty. They have hot queso and guacamole on the bar also. All of the food I ate that day was awesome. You step into a place that to me looks like something out of Texas. The men's bathroom even had a rustic look to it. Give them a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Slim pickings for food options in Carrollton. We tend to stop by this place when we are in town for my bf's annual family reunion. The restaurant is very spacious and can accommodate large groups. I've had the taco salad and a chicken entree. Portion sizes are huge and I'm pretty sure the cups can hold a liter of fluid!! The refried beans and rice are pretty good and so are the complimentary chips and salsa. Everything else I've had was mediocre, at best. Honestly, the kids menu portion size is more than enough for me. I'll probably order a la carte next time so I don't have to waste so much food since I can't take leftovers. read more

Great restaurant off the beaten path...but only a couple of miles. Excellent service and high quality food. Between Louisville and Cincy - great stop on I71, probably one of the best along the corridor. This is an excellent Mexican restaurant with authentic Mexican food. We enjoyed the beef chimichanga, coyote burrito and the spinach and mushroom enchilada. All of them where fantastic. Beware if you order the LARGE margarita it is gigantic, but excellent when u go with top shelf!! Last note is "Fabian" is a super nice young man. I don't believe that was his first name, but after having that "Large top shelf margarita" I think he was afraid I was stalking him". Anyway great place to eat after 12 hrs on the road!! read more

¡Muy Bien! This was a delightful surprise. Traveling in the area and decided to give it a shot for lunch. I had a taste for chili rellenos. They had them on the menu and the buffet. Not a big buffet guy. But for $8.99 it gave me a chance to get what I wanted and to try some other stuff. Had tastes of the quesadilla, enchilada, and chicken wings. All were great! Second visit to this restaurant while staying at Butler park, and it was wonderful yet again. The service was great, and fast. I had fajitas and they were sooooo good. Couldn't eat it all!! They came with beans, rice, and a little guacamole so I got all my favorites! And this visit, we came on a Monday night and I enjoyed a HUGE margarita! It was just the right amount of tequila and lime/tart. And with temperatures above 90, a refreshing and welcome cold beverage. All in all, another great meal and experience. Loved it. Really really love the food! Don't be fooled by the awesome description of "shrimp wrapped in bacon". I ordered it expecting shrimp wrapped in bacon (go figure) but it's shrimp covered in bacon pieces. Still completely delicious! Strawberry Margarita topped it off! read more

What a treat! On a road trip & chose to stop here because of the Yelp rating... We now concur! If you want authentic, here it is. Crunchy tortilla chips & just the right spiciness salsa were immediately served. The waiter was friendly, offered more water refills & occasionally made sure our needs were met. My chicken tortilla soup was fabulous! There were chunks of shredded chicken, tortillas, fresh avocado, cilantro & lime...all of my favorites. My husband had the beef chimichanga. He said it was served piping hot, was very flavorful and filled with lean shredded meat (no gristle). We recommend the stop even though it's about a mile off the exit. Two thumbs up! read more

I have a large family and have frequented this restaurant on many, many occasions. Because of the size of my family I easily spend more than $150 every time I go and we have easily went at least once a month for years. I usually get treated with some level of familiarity but I've never really felt that I was a "valued" customer. I have always attributed it to the fact that they are busy and in a small town they likely see many repeat customers. Because we are always relatively happy with the food quality, the staff's professionalism and the fact that there's not many other options locally I have continued to frequent this establishment and even recommend this restaurant to our friends. Tonight was a terribly disappointing experience that may have tipped the scales in favor of other restaurants in our area. It appears that they have started to make changes (tortillas, serving plates and accompanying food quantities, and even the food was bland and tasteless) Certainly not value-added changes. Couple that with the fact that the service was appalling tonight and I will probably give El Nopal or Acapulco in Florence another try next time I take the family out for Mexican food. What was really disappointing tonight was the fact that in trying to get part of my daughter's order (that was not delivered with the original serving of the tables' food), not only did we have to remind them 3 times, one of those times the request was made to, what I believe to be, the owner and he did not react with any more urgency than the others. It was finally delivered as everyone at the table was finishing their meal and despite the fact that a request for correction was made directly to him, there was never even a verbal apology for the delay. They were not as busy as I've seen them on multiple occasions so I can't even defend their poor performance. At this point, unless they start to understand guest experience is just as important as their food quality and acknowledge that they they really need to correct many issues, I think their bottom line will be impacted in the near future. A Long time fan is now a disappointed ex-customer. For the first time in my adult life, not only did I not leave more than a 25 percent gratuity. I left nothing. I still feel bad about that but I've written reviews only a handful of times and I hope that either the lack of gratuity or this review sends the message to the owner and his staff that their current direction and performance is unacceptable. read more

We were very pleased with our visit. Service was excellent - attentive, quick and courtious, making sure we didn't run out of chips & salsa. My meal of Pollo Monterrey was outstanding. The mixed veggies were grilled with a seasoning that was fantastic! Something close to a Blackened seasoning with a Mexican twist. The chicken smothered in cheese was also delicious! My husband had the Prime Rib Fajitas. The Prime Rib was large and very tender. You then cut it up to make your fajitas. The portions were large for a very reasonable price. I only wish we could have come on a day when margaritas were available... No beer or liquor on Sundays in Carrollton. The food was amazing, the service was great and it was wonderful to sit outside. I would have been more comfortable in regular chairs instead of the high barstool chairs. I had the chicken chimichanga ($10) and it was expertly fried to crispy perfection. We stopped here on our way out of General Butler State Park and it was a great welcome back to restaurant dining! The tortilla soup was perfect if a little heavy on the rice but still five stars! Lunch buffet was awesome too, free for my under-5's who will only devour beans and rice anyway, with enchilada options my 7-year-old raved about. Not to mention white nacho cheese and guacamole. Nachos supreme pleased my husband, too, along with the sweet tea and chips and salsa, the main reason he goes to Mexican restaurants. The salsa didn't upset his heartburn and the kids loved it too. This is probably the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at, the salsa was canned tomatoes With some cilantro throw in, refried beans right out of a can, the " shredded beef" had to be out of a can of Denison Stew, unbelievable anyone could enjoy this food.
