Mia Salon is a lovely space for pampering yourself in Victoria Gardens. Austin is a fabulous addition to their assembly of aesthetic artists. What I loved about working with him is that I was able to state in general what I wanted out of my hairstyle and then leave the creation of that style in his capable hands. I went here a 2-3 days ago spoke with a woman named Layla about Aveda products and she had no idea what she was talking about along with zero product knowledge so I went to another salon and spoke to a 23 y/o stylist who had more product knowledge than that manager!!!!!!!!! Was looking for a place that was open to cut my hair on a Sunday. I usually get a simple straight across trim but wanted something different so asked for long layers and face trim. Thought it looked good until I came home, washed it and flat ironed it. Come to realize I have a few random long strands of hair when I put it all in the back. Mia Aveda Salon in Victoria Gardens with Austin. I wanted my hair styled for a family wedding, and the result was bad. I have a bob with straight hair, and wanted it blow dry with wavy hair. For products he used 2 leave-in conditioners, an oil, a volumizer, and a hair spray. Probably the wash conditioner too (but can't confirm). He put all the products on my scalp (except hair spray), and a generous amount. Before he was finished with the blow dry I knew it was already going bad. Before I got to the hotel the curls were out, and hair flipped up at the ends. I couldn't keep the blow dry because my hair was waxy and greasy. I washed it and used a blow-dryer to try and fix it. I was so sad at the wedding because my hair looked weighed down and greasy. Till today that I went to get my roots colored the stylist used an Abundance Clarifying Shampoo (or close name). This product is great, but still need more time for my hair to be back to normal. I didn't stop him, or recommended products because I thought "maybe he knows what he's doing". I could have driven back to the salon, and showed the results. However, I had a wedding to go to. read more

I came in on Saturday last minute appointment, happy they took me in last minute I got my hair colored, washed and cut, styled, love the services. Gave it a second chance. The wash was fast, no massage or scrub on the scalp, I was not happy about that. Then I got a blow dry and the girl didn't style it, I had to take the blow dryer and do it myself. WTH! I called asking for a possibility of a last minute appointment and they were able to squeeze me in that same day! I was booked with Alexis and asked for a layered cut, also referring to inspo pictures I had saved. She started with a wash, cut, then styled it. The cut came out BEAUTIFUL!!! This review is being entered the day after the service. I want to star by saying the staff was super nice even the person who worked on my hair. However the work was awful. I asked for a lighter but warm peek-a-boo face framing color. This is what I got. I did not noticed in the moment as the way the hair was styled didn't give me the chance to notice then. It was when I made it to car and my house that I found out all this awfulness. There seemed to be problem with improper booking and the lady was attending me and another person at the same time. 275$ later this what I have. From 4 different tones of yellow and orange, to brassiness, poor toning, harsh lines, to recklessly applied color that gives the appearance of bald spots and also actual bald spots! And now I am on my way to spend another 300$ to correct this mess. read more

Had an appointment with Vianey for the first time. A walk in came in at the same time as she's shampooing my hair and proceeded to attempt to take care of both of us. Unacceptable! She cut my hair I showed her a picture guess what it wasn't like the picture. And then had someone else dry my hair while working on the walk in. She came back to me and thought she styled my hair and I told her it wasn't like the picture and I wanted her to fix it and she said she was done and walked away. She also gave me a complimentary blow dry (the stylist left my hair a bit oily and waxy but I've had worst ones, maybe because I have curly hair she didn't know what products would help ‍) with that service I got to pick out two out of three services I chose a mini facial and a simple neck, shoulder massage which both were amazing. I use going to the salon as my self care (a time to relax and take care of myself/my needs) so overall yes some need for improvement but a lot better than my last experience. Went in for an inch off of my son's hair to clean up his ends, some shaping and a little thinning. Clarified several times that minimal was to be done. Even got up twice to ensure my expectations were clear. I didn't want to hover over her and trusted that after that many times of clarifying what was to be done AND for her to do minimal thinning.. this is what the result was. Over half of his hair being thinned out. What took over 3 years to grow out, she ruined in 30 minutes. There are bigger problems in the world to worry about, but that doesn't make this ok and it can not be fixed. His hair needs another cut of about 5 inches to give it the illusion of being full and this will take years for it to fill out again. read more

I had a haircut booked at 3 with a stylist who unfortunately couldn't service me due to medical reasons. Luckily the front desk called me to offer to reschedule and was able to get someone else to cut my hair at the same time if I was flexible with an assistant doing possibly thr shampoo and the blow dry. I didn't mind that so I accepted the replacement. I'd like to point out that the best part of my experience was having the assistant wash and condition my hair. I didn't feel rushed and the attention to my scalp was phenomena. The tip I left I wish went straight to them. I felt rushed through my haircut. The front desk was asking the stylist about their dinner that they were going to in order for them to communicate with someone who possibly called the salon? Not entirely sure. Anyway, I had shown the stylist a reference photo of MY OWN hair in its natural state at the length that I wanted. We didn't achieve that. But I did leave with a service that was $15 more than the stylist I originally booked. And looking back at their reservations there is actually no one that starts off at the charge that I was given so I haven't a clue why my cut was so much. I also left with a massive amount of excess product in my hair. Serums and creams on my short hair that weren't even worked in enough. I have flakes of the product coming off my head. My blow dry was extremely rushed which is what caused my stylist to add so much more product on in order to tame it. A more precise brush and blow dry wouldn't have left my hair so "puffed up" as they said. A rough dry isn't really something that you should be doing on short hair but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Then, of course, I was offered product and the opportunity to rebook. I'm not sure what part of the experience they gave me would make me want to try the product they put too much of on my shortest pieces of hair or what part of them going back with different tools to different areas to clean up the same spots yet my hairline still doesn't look cleaned up would want me to rebook. I'll continue to look for a salon in this area or maybe just drive back to OC where I know a stylist cares about how my hair looks and makes me feel. The three stars are for kyra, who I originally booked with and was great about communication the assistant who gave me a lovely experience in the wash house And the front desk person who helped me in rescheduling the last minute change on the stylist's end (I am absolutely horrible with names so no I don't even have the name of the stylist who did end up cutting my hair. If it weren't for an email I had for my original booking I probably would've forgotten their name too) read more

Updating my review and it remains a solid 5 stars! I scheduled only a cut but when I checked in early, I asked if it was possible to do a color, too. Jacinda was so accommodating. I got a much-needed trim, a color, and a deep conditioning treatment per her recommendation. She perfectly interpreted my vague description of the red color I wanted and it looks EXACTLY how I envisioned it. I feel soooo much better after not going to a salon in a year and a half! Incredible place! Seriously, are these people fairy godmothers? I actually had an appointment at another salon, but that salon decided they 'didn't have time' and were very rude. I remembered walking by here the day before and I called them, actually sobbing over what had just happened at the other salon. They told me I could come in right away. When I got there, they offered me refreshments, asked what I wanted, and got right to work. I wanted my faded pink (it was orange now) to be lightened, that ideally, id want to go silver. I had Mia and she told me she'd get me as light as possible in one session. She got me to a platinum blonde/silver and my hair feels amazing. She did an incredible cut and the whole salon turned my horrid morning into a wonderful day. I walked out of there feeling SO GOOD I took myself out to dinner.
