Found this little gem on a search for breakfast places nearby. Had the "Cake & Eggs" breakfast plate and it was delicious! Cafe is the perfect designation for this place because diner indicates a "greasy spoon" and there was nothing greasy about this yummy breakfast. Only open now for breakfast and lunch, and only had breakfast. Everything was very good. Had to request their rock music be turned down at 9:00AM, but they complied and breakfast was ready fast, hot and good! Lunch menu looked great! Prices unbelievable!! read more

The staff was pleasant and you are seated quickly. We initially went for the breakfast, because we have been told it is pretty good. However, it was almost noon, so I decided to go with the daily special. Meatloaf had way too much sauce (ketchup), potatoes were instant, and the chicken clearly frozen and heated up. I was pretty disappointed. We will try the breakfast next time, because with the breakfast orders that I saw coming out absolutely did look amazing. When I think country cooking, this is just not why comes to mind, so it's just not what I expected. I had chicken and dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. All the sides were mushy and/or heatlamped. Chicken was serviceable. I had some cornbread that never arrived to the table. One star added for ridiculously low prices, and the people seem friendly. With so many options in Madison, I'd skip this for sure. read more

This place is good! Love the eggs benedict. The biscuits and gravy is good too. Great waiters. The two guys we have had have been super friendly and fun. Enjoy the atmosphere. My husband and I were trying to figure out where to eat today and ultimately decided on Mia's since it is close and I am so glad we did. I have been craving pancakes recently for some reason and we always end up at IHOP or somewhere similar...I ordered pancakes here, however, and I will probably stop craving pancakes because my body finally found what it was looking for. :) The pancakes were very good at Mia's and you get so much for your money. We ordered the meal that comes with eggs, meat, pancakes and one side...there was SO much food, I could only eat about half of it... for the same amount of money I would spend somewhere else. 5 18 2019. We are down here from Chicago relocating so we know nothing. We wanted breakfast . Breakfast stops at 2pm. I guess they have to return the eggs and toast and hash browns to the store from where they were bought. So my wife and myself ordered something else. I had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and black eyes peas and corn bread and banana pudding. Chopped steak very dry no real gravy to speak of. Jury still out on the mashed potatoes, WHY? I'm glad you asked. They Had some lumps in it, but they weren't made with butter and cream, more like with water. Black eyed peas were fresh from the can with no taste. My wife said the corn bread was good. The banana pudding I didnt like at all and neither did my wife. To be Honest that could of just been us. Never had banana pudding before. I am an old man and have been around MANY restaurants . for right now this place rates close to next to the last for me. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food we get at a reasonable price. They don't always have the same food though, it's different entrees and sides for different days of the week so if you are picky like me and want something like their dumplings you better have their schedule memorized. Also both times I went at least one of my sides was cold. I like my food hot and fresh so I had to take it home and heat it up in the microwave after. Their service was mediocre and seemed like one guy was doing all the work while several employees were sitting and eating at a table at dinner time, like 7 o'clock which was odd to me. However they do have a lot of my favorites like dumplings, collars greens, and hash brown casserole and they are very good and homemade tasting. Overall this place has earned a three from me. I went here first for breakfast. Everything I had was excellent. I had the Mia's country fried steak breakfast. I would give them 5 stars for the breakfast. When I went back for dinner not so good. I had the chick-n-dumplings. It was just ok. for one of the sides you can select the desert of the day. This day it was strawberry shortcake. I was looking forward to it. when it came it looked and tasted old. I would go back for breakfast, but never for dinner. read more

Overall okay- very spacious- the decor is simple but. Ice, the food doesn't blow you away but it is good. The servers seem to be on point. And that is nice. I had to ask what veggie of the day was. I had to ask for everything. Please don't ask me if I want more water when I am mid meal and mid chew. Just refill it. I would go back if I knew the service was going to be better. I asked for a togo box and he brought one but no containers for the liquid sides (like cabbage) so again I asked for that. I had to ask for more napkins. They served my catfish with Honey Mustard so I had to ask for tartar sauce. Pretty good food but good gosh on the service. It felt like work. The place is bigger on the inside than it looks, so we have never had to wait to be seated longer than it took someone to clean a table. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My wife wanted to substitute an item in her combo and Jesus recommended a way to order everything a la carte for less. And all the food was cooked exactly how we wanted. read more

Went back two days ago during lunch to check out the food... although it was good, ordered the cheese burger with fries with all the toppings and asked for my fries to be cooked "extra crispy." Upon arrival the burger was very good sized and nicely presented but the fries were limper than limp... At check out I mentioned it to our waiter who was very nice, and he indicated he wrote it on the slip (which I saw) and verbally told them in the kitchen... I guess it comes down to a language barrier perhaps in not understanding what "extra crispy" means. All in all it was a nice lunch and I will return. I throttled my original rating back from a 5 to a 4 as this shortcoming should not even have happened. I know it sounds petty, but if I'm paying for something I want it the way I ordered it. This place was very disappointing. I ordered pot roast and it was DISGUSTING. Inedible.It was tough and tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated then they whipped up some packaged brown gravy and put it over it. The potatoes were hard and cold. I ordered the hash brown casserole and broccoli casserole both were bland and blah. My husband got the ham sandwich which was nothing but a piece of ham thrown onto white bread. We ordered sandwiches. The Reuben sandwich was the size of the palm of my hand & the the few fries we got were about an inch long. (Also, they did not use rye bread!) We waited FOREVER for our food. They had the heat on high & it was stifling HOT in the restaurant. All the servers were talking very loudly to each other in Spanish. The hostess had zero personality & acted like she'd rather be elsewhere .Needless to say, we won't be going back.
