This place was very disappointing. I ordered pot roast and it was DISGUSTING. Inedible.It was tough and tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated then they whipped up some packaged brown gravy and put it over it. The potatoes were hard and cold. I ordered the hash brown casserole and broccoli casserole both were bland and blah. My husband got the ham sandwich which was nothing but a piece of ham thrown onto white bread. We ordered sandwiches. The Reuben sandwich was the size of the palm of my hand & the the few fries we got were about an inch long. (Also, they did not use rye bread!) We waited FOREVER for our food. They had the heat on high & it was stifling HOT in the restaurant. All the servers were talking very loudly to each other in Spanish. The hostess had zero personality & acted like she'd rather be elsewhere .Needless to say, we won't be going back. My first visit to Mia's Café today was a nice discovery of the menu which includes a choice of up to four (4) meats each day and a list of the sides available that day listed underneath the meats,. I chose chicken and dressing which reminded me of the recipe my family makes. Cranberry sauce was included on the plate, (didn't have to ask for it.), Broccoli casserole was very tasty as was the hash brown casserole. Some of the meats from other days of the week are chicken and dumplins, and meatloaf, Then there is a breakfast menu with all the usual items as well as country ham. Brand new place on county line, the décor is simple and clean. The servers are friendly and quite attentive and service is quick and efficient. We've only been for breakfast. We stopped here on our way out of Alabama to grab breakfast. Very crowded with the post-church crowd so I expected the kitchen to be a little chaotic. Our waiter was very friendly and made helpful suggestions, checked on us frequently, etc. I got a biscuit with my meal and it didn't come out until everyone else in my party was finished with their food, which didn't really bother me too much, but the manager actually handed us our tickets personally and gave us a 50% off discount as an apology for the slowness. I usually like Mia's, but this visit was pretty crappy. It was about 7:15 in the evening when I went to go eat there. One of the things that I did not like was when I came in and ordered a breakfast plate, they said they do not serve breakfast all-day. I was pretty mad because breakfast is the main thing that you get here. The guy that serves me was really nice and he offered us the dessert of the day, which was banana pudding. I really like banana pudding and the only other thing I could find on the menu that I wanted was a potato soup. So, I got my potato soup, a Coke, and some banana pudding. Our food cake out within about two minutes which really impressed me. I tried my Coke, and it was wonderful. Usually, people have Pepsi or some knock-off, but Mia's had actual, fresh, Coca-Cola. Anyway, after I tried that, I tried my room temperature potato soup. As you can probably tell from the way I described it, the potato soup was pretty bad. I immediately moved to the banana pudding, which looked disgusting, but I ate it anyway. I took one bite out of it and as soon as I did, I thought to myself that I needed to warm other people of how bad Mia's Café is at nighttime. read more

Was excited after reading all these great reviews. Not sure why my experience was so different, maybe they are having an off day. Eggs were cool, bacon so tough and chewy I couldn't eat it, hash browns were ok. Service was so slow took sometime before coffee was served. The server was very nice. May try lunch sometime to see if it's any better. As for breakfast I believe I'll stick with IHOP or Blueplate cafe. read more

Great little restaurant!! Visited this morning, eggs prepared right and still warm upon arrival. Hash browns excellent, pancakes some of the best I have had in Huntsville/Madison! Bologna was VERY thin (almost see through it) and salty.....I talked to Jose (formerly of Blue Plate Cafe) owner, about this and he said he was going to change vendors on the bologna very soon as others did not like it either. It was nice seeing a young man (Jose) open up a cafe.....I plan to return soon! read more

My wife and I have been to Mia's Café on several occasions for dinner and even breakfast. To date we have never had a bad meal and always experienced excellent service. The owner always takes time out to speak with us like we are part of the family. Located on the corner of HWY 72 and County Line Rd, Mia's Café is easy to access from either one. This is the worst "Southern" food I've ever had. I ordered chicken and dumplings. It was straight up chicken noodle soup. It was chicken in chicken broth with noodles. The corn and green beans were either right out of a can or simply cooked to taste exactly like it. I'm pretty sure the macaroni and cheese was Kraft Deluxe. The best part of the meal was the turnip greens that I soaked in my leftover chicken broth. read more

My husband and I went here for there breakfast. The staff was very friendly and the food got to our table quickly. My husband loved the hash brown casserole. I would say our only complaint would be how they cooked our eggs. My husband got scrambled eggs and they were over done, I got sunny side up eggs and they were super done on the bottom and not cooked at all on the top. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I'm a good Southern girl who grew up on the kind of home cooking served at Mia's, so I know my way around a plate of meat and vegetables. (And yes, I count macaroni and cheese as a vegetable.) The meat and three we had on a Friday night, even though it was well toward the end of the service day, was like having a posse of grandmas cook your meal. From the chicken and dumplings to the chicken fried steak to the M&C and the fried okra and the green beans and homemade mashed potatoes, every bite was delicious and savory and perfectly seasoned.
