This place is awesome! They were able to accommodate my daughter's graduation dinner on very short notice. We were able to get a room on a Sat from 3:30-5:30. The staff was very accommodating. This was my first time there so I tried the grilled salmon, green beans & Mac & cheese. You go to the counter, order, pay & they bring the food to you. Everything was delicious! The other guests ordered various entrées & they were equally pleased. The parking was easy. They have a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, but there's also a free parking garage across the street. I will definitely return. read more

An upbeat place that's great for families. I went with my family, there was 8 of us. Fortunately we did not have a problem finding a table after placing our order. You walk in to the counter and place your order. The menu has a variety from BBQ, Tacos, Burgers, Fried Shrimp to Chicken Fried Steak. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos, that came with a side of chips & queso (yum) I topped it off with a mango margarita. We also ordered the shrimp platter which I tried an onion ring. I could eat my weight in those... There was also a chicken fried steak ordered, brisket tacos, fish tacos and a burger. No complaints at our table, all delicious. They have self serve ice cream for dessert. My only complaint is they have a party room... I wish it had doors, it may have, if so they were open. This is a nice hidden little gem over by the Kirby area. Was not expecting this "southern " food to be so tasty! It does open at 11 am. And from there you are good to go. Wow, I seriously underestimated this place! I don't know why, but I always feel weird about places you walK up and order then sit down. I'm just very weird about it. We came on a Monday night and it was PACKED. That was a great sign. It was chilly out so nobody was sitting on the patio, so tables were filled fast inside. We had the chicken fried chicken and the pulled pork sandwich. Both were sooooo great. Almost drool worthy! We had Mac n cheese, mash potatoes, and cream corn for our sides. Pretty good. I really liked their strawberry lemonade, it was very sweet so I watered it down. Also, love the ice cream at rhe end but, parents beware, PLEASE watch your children. So I'm a little ashamed that I didnt visit the location near me 1st but this is the original and I'm glad I was invited here for lunch today and now I know why the one in my area is always so packed. I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish with dessert and I ate my dessert first it was Yumm!! You can see from the pic the meal portion was pretty hefty for lunch time. I was pleasantly surprised and certainly satisfied and now have a new restuarant to support and you should also their menu is a little for everyone! read more

I discovered Mia's Table on Favor in a desperate search for delectable fried chicken to satisfy my family's insatiable hunger! They have an awesome fried chicken family meal that we are OBSESSED with! It is the perfect meal for hungry and picky eaters which is a difficult demo to please. I have ordered about 80%+ of the menu at this point, and going strong to level up to 100%! Our favs include the chicken fried chicken, coleslaw (so fresh & light), mac & cheese (kids go insane for it), mon fam meal, jalepeno cream gravy (slather it on everything), and banana pudding. Since I get Mia's food delivered, I was impressed by the restaurant's handling of a recent mix up when our Favor driver ordered the wrong item . I tried to and left with a meal for 1 instead of for four. Favor's customer service was impossible to reach so I called the restaurant, and WOW, Brian handled it like a pro! It was as if it was a case study in Danny Meyer's Setting the Table but our own local version of it- Setting Mia's Table! One of the best restaurants that I had while visiting Houston. I'm in love with chicken fried chicken, and I found that it's somewhat hard to find. A lot of places offer chicken fried steak, but not that many offer chicken fried chicken. I have a restaurant that's my go to chicken fried chicken spot in Seattle, and I wanted to see if there was a better one in Houston. Every time I searched chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak recommendations always came up. I saw that Mia's Kitchen chicken fried steak had really good reviews, so I took a look at their menu to see what other options they offered. I surprisingly saw that chicken fried chicken was an option! I knew that I HAD to try this place before I left for my flight back to Seattle. My sister and I came here at around 12 PM, and the place was packed! There were no available parking spots in their small lot, so we had to street park. Although this is a restaurant, you order your food at the counter, they hand you a table tracker, and then they bring the food out to you. It was a nice day out, so my sister and I sat outside on the patio (which is dog friendly btw!) Food: The chicken fried chicken was delicious! The exterior was extremely crunchy, and the interior was moist. You get to pick two sides with the order, so I chose mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese. The mashed potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. The Mac and cheese was also pretty good. It's hard to mess up Mac and cheese in the first place though. The portion size of the chicken was HUGE, and I had to get a to-go box to take it with me on my flight! The jalapeño gravy was okay. I'm not a huge fan of country gravy, so I didn't care for it much. Service: Service was decent. Nothing terrible, nor extraordinary. Wait staff asked if we needed anything else when he brought our food out, and that was about it. Definitely one of my favorite casual restaurants in the area. I had baked half-chicken and I gotta say, it was probably the best baked chicken I've ever had! I finished everything, including the sides! It was perfectly seasoned, skin was crispy and flavorful, and the meat was very juicy. The sides, I had coleslaw and the potato salad. the coleslaw left a little to be desired but it was good nonetheless. The potato salad was probably some of the best I've ever had. Why 4 stars? Because we really enjoyed our experience. --- --- --- I was scouting out a restaurant near the city center of Houston that was good for both a pickier grandma and a 9-month old. Options were a bit limited to please everyone, but Mia's Table ended up being a home run for us. When I sent my wife a list of a few options, I knew she'd pick Mia's because chicken fried steak might be her favorite meal ever and that happened to be the #1 highlight at Mia's. So off we went! What I later learned is that there are three different locations in Houston, including one that's only about two miles from my parents house. Good to know for my next trip! I assume maybe this location was the original? And I also learned that it's under the Carrabba's family of restaurants. It turned out that my wife's chicken fried steak was everything that she hoped it would be. An easy 5-stars there. In addition to that, I was able to try... Was pretty good. This is an order-pay-and-eat, type of place. I didn't have much, there weren't extensive options for vegetarians but the Mac and cheese --- smashed it. Really didn't expect them to throw down on that Southern classic. The restaurant is diner style, take your number, pick your table and seat yourself, get your water, napkins and utensils. There are a vast amount of tables over a large open area. It is very clean, no crusty things in corners and no sticky chairs or tables. The crowd is very... 'Bellaire upper middle class family'. Lots of young children everywhere, but it's not at all helter smelter. Several tables were pushed together for small parties. It's a loud, but appropriately loud, considering the environment. And not a bother at all. Waitstaff were prompt and courteous. Often times they would give you a helping hand if you showed need. The food was quite good. I would definitely return for the food, but I would not go out of my way. Seasoning was on par, portions were large, temperature was perfect. Mostly a lot of fried foods, again the macaroni and cheese was wonderful. I can't speak on the fried meats, but the sides were pretty filling. Definitely come by if you are in the area. They are accommodating to families, kids run around and pay without feeling stifled. It appears large parties are easily accommodated. I love this place because the food is amazing and it's so laid back. It can be crowded during prime times so be aware. There is lots of patio and inside dining. When you are finished dining you can even get a free ice-cream! Parking - there is a garage across the street with plenty of parking if you can't find a spot in their lot. Order at the counter and they will give you a number. Find a seat and they will bring out your food. Enjoy burgers, salads, barbecue, pulled pork, tacos, seafood, they have it all! Mia's Table is such a southern comfort and hospitable restaurant. WE LOVE IT HERE! It's a pay before you eat establishment and I actually like that better sometimes. I had the chicken fried steak and it is some of the best I ha e ever had. Along with the steak I got the Mac n Cher's and mashed potatoes as a side. Overall, the meal was amazing. I came in for lunch. The set up of this restaurant is order first, choose your seats, then have your food delivered to you. You get your drinks, you get your to go boxes. Not sure what many people are seeing about this place, but you can absolutely make the same stuff at home. It seemed pretty basic to me. It wasn't even that crispy! Could be the gravy, but the corners that were not smothered, was not crisp. The gravy was bland, I would be okay with that if the chicken fried steak was over flavored. I feel like these flavors reminded me of cracker barrel but a higher price range. the mashed potatoes were good, but the mac n cheese was bland. There was no cheese!! Very similar to the kraft. If you ask me. The fish taco was good, fish was nicely cooked. I could definitely make this at home. Shrimp taco was okay. Peanut butter cookies here were delicious. I liked the amount of sugar in it and the texture. Service was good when ordering. When I asked for plates not knowing that it was in the area where we serve ourselves, he didn't say anything and shrugged when he dropped them off. It gets pretty packed during lunch. Mias was a fantastic choice for fueling my 4yo twin godbabies. The seating area out front with the picnic tables was the perfect place to harness their play while coming back for bites of chicken nugs and fries. The complementary ice cream cones are a nice touch for dining with kiddos. My dish (shrimp tacos) was just ok- certainly not bad but not crave-worthy either. Overall my meal was good I ordered the mixed 4 piece Southern Fried Chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and black eyed peas. The mash potatoes were nice and creamy and the black eyed peas were good but I wish I had more beans because my serving was quite liquidy. I ordered a side of fries for my friend but they waited to bring them out with my meal so they were kind of cold but still good. Now onto the chicken, the chicken came out FRESH out the grease I was burning my fingers trying to eat it but it was worth it. The batter was season well and the chicken was juicy. I love their sides of mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and green beans, and their chicken fried steak/chicken hits the spot perfectly every time. This is a quick in and out place. After tonight's experience I think it's time to speak up. I got the cheese burger and the meat was sooo salty it burned. Last visit I thought it a one off. Obviously not. Then my husband, who eats anything starts complaining how salty the fried chicken is. Somebody needs to get a grip!! Then they brought out ketchup squeeze bottles out. Do they think that's a COVID SAFE THING???? Really?? The one on the table next to us had ketchup oozing out the lid and the lady caught it with her finer and licked it off. I want to express how AMAZED I was about the incredible service my elderly mom and I received today at Uptown Mia's. There were not enough handicapped parking spots and as I was waiting to drop her off at door and go park, a dear young man named Alexander helped my mom out of the car and told us we could park in the ToGo spots, since there were not a lot of handicapped spots. When I came in, he was with another lovely young woman (didn't catch her name!) and my mom in waiting area, and they suggested we get a table then order. He THEN personally routed us around the crowd to the table section. I was amazed, as I've not experienced such ABOVE and BEYOND service from anyone anywhere in quite some time. This experience along with the food being good...as always...made for a delightful lunch for my mom and me. She thought it was a fun lunch and felt important, something many older people are not always made to feel in our culture. This place is very kid friendly. The food is great, and they give large portions for the price. The service was great as well. I was greeted when I walked in, and they checked on us frequently throughout the night. I was there to meet some friends for a Bible study group, and they let us sit in their party area where it was much quieter. I'd definitely recommend. read more
