Worst place to eat Mexican food not authentic at all and 27 dollars for 2 unflavored tacos with rice and beans is crazy never again

My daughter attends university in NYC and was home for Thanksgiving. She really wanted to come here for dinner before heading to the airport to take the red-eye back to NY. That kind of tells you what this place means to us - reliable, good comfort food. We always sit in the bar area when we come here so my husband can watch whatever game is playing and we always get great, welcoming service. This was the first time my daughter came here since she turned 21 so she had her first strawberry margarita! We had a nice evening spending time with her, as she enjoyed a cheese enchilada meal while we had our usual shrimp tacos, at one of her favorite places before she left Reno again. read more

We originally were planning on eating at a different restaurant during our visit to Reno, but we had to hit the so we could get home at a reasonable time, (if you call midnight reasonable), so we popped in here after calling ahead to find there was no wait time. I personally didn't look at the reviews, as we were there with some "locals" who recommended it. (I will read them after my post to see why it's only a 3 star according to other Yelpers.) We were promptly seated by friendly staff. It wasn't overly busy, but there was a decent amount of people there. Our drink order was taken and we were given the chips and salsa typical of Mexican restaurants. If I had to ding anything, I'd say this was a weak point. The chips and salsa were ok, but I'm pretty picky about my c&s. Did I still eat them? Yeah. Did everyone else at the table also eat them? Yep. Did we get another bowl of chips? Ha ... of course. One of our group had a strawberry margarita that she said was good. No. It wasn't me. I already mentioned we had a long drive hkme. (4.5 hours if you want the details.) I had a fully loaded with sugar and caffeine Coke. And a refill. I knew I'd need it to stay awake. It was pretty much an average Coke, but it was cold. Now why you are really here. Unless my review of the apparently delicious margarita was enough for you to just take my word on the 5 star review, you probably want to know about the food. Diner 1: Cheech and Chong Chimi He destroyed it. This Is a good thing in a review. He said be should have stopped halfway through it, but he didn't stop. Diner 2: Maybe it was the strawberry margarita talking, but she raves about her shrimp quesadilla. Diner 3, who happened to be my husband: I don't know why I can't tell you what he ordered, but he ate it all. (Destroyed it, to use my own words.) Now I didn't try any of their food, but I can s speak from personal experience on mine. I ordered the chili relleno a la carte. I had rice earlier and 4.5 hours in a car after a plate full of beans? I won't do that again after a trip to New Mexico a few years back. I digress ... So this thing was smothered in an epic amount of amazingly delicious cheese and green sauce. Like it was droolie-good. I took a nice close up of the amazing-ness for you to drool over. (Ok ... the close up is because I had eaten a fair chunk of it before remembering to take a picture, but it works either way.) Pros: Wait staff was efficient and friendly. The food was amazing. Cute atmosphere. Cons: Not really anything. Other than the chips and salsa, it was a positive experience. We went to Micasa Too for dinner, we went in. The bartender was at the cash register, no one at the hostess podium. The bartender looked at us, then looked away. We waited several minutes, then a lady came took a couple menus, we followed her to a table. She threw the menus on the table and left. My wife and I sat there for about 5-7 minutes, we got up and left! Service was obviously horrible! If someone is having a bad day! Don't come to work and take it out on customers! The bartender at the cashier could have seated us, but he didn't! Not going back! We ended up at Casa Grande on Robb dr. It was great! I went at lunch hour with my family on a Sunday All food options were covered in melted cheese . I would not call it fine dining definitely a fast food option Mexican food prepared in the American way. Not authentic Mexican cuisine. Food is definitely made with canned and processed food. I drove by this place a week ago and it looked like the sort of good Mexican Food place that we have looked for since moving to Reno. Wrong.... Couldn't be more wrong. First the good... the chips and salsa are good. Now the one star reasons. First, it is WAY over priced. The server was talking to another person in Spanish making comments about my wife and I. Surprise... others in the world speak Spanish that aren't Mexican. Second, the order was messed up, and in fact, got the opposite of what I ordered after making it clear 3 times. Third, the food that we did get was awful. The meat was bland, and the sauces were not tasty at all. The server didn't come back to check that everything was OK for 20 minutes. By then, I had eaten some of the food and my wife had picked out some of the chicken from her dish. Forth and lastly... it is WAY overpriced. I'm guessing they have a new boat or something to pay for. 2 people to order a simple Mexican dinner for $50 and no cocktails to me is over the top for Mexican Food. I know things have gone up, but really??? On top of all of this, we spent another $10 on the way home by driving through Del Taco so we wouldn't be hungry the rest of the night. I came here for my mother in law's birthday. I ordered a cheese enchilada. It came with rice and beans but it cost $10.00 for ONE enchilada. It wasn't anything spectacular. The plate was piping hot but the cheese had cooled already in the middle of the enchilada. The lighting wasn't lighting at all, it was so dark in there. There are definitely better Mexican restaurants in the Reno area. Just steer clear of this one. A plus though? The margarita was well made. read more

The prices at this place are Way Too Expensive for a mexsican...sorry...mexican restaurant! I went there to just get a bean and cheese burrito but they wanted $7.50 for one. I ended up getting their chili cheese burger with fries for $12.50...which was also overpriced. I failed to read that it was with Ortega chilis and not chili so said something and they put some kind of make shift chili from the back on it. I should've just went to Toxic Smell down the street and got a burrito. The staff is a little bothersome and the place was dead for a Friday night...go figure! read more

MiCassa Too has been one of Reno's best place to go for Mexican food for years. I've been eating there with my family before my kids could even walk. I'm not sure which I like better the food or the Margaritas, they are both great. Try lunch time for lower priced options. I also like the fact that the same people have been working there for years. MiCasa Too - Steak fajitas, #14 - Mexican Near Me - Reno, Nevada

A friend recommend this location saying it was one of the best spots for fajitas , well I can say that I was absolutely not disappointed , the service was amazing and the food is something that I can not wait to come back for some more. They also have more than 150 tequilas to choose from, I can say without a doubt I will be back. I really appreciated how all the servers were checking in on us our cups never went empty , and the attention to detail was something you just don't forget. I really loved it here and I'm going to be craving that vegetable quesadilla until I can come back and have some more. This will probably be a new regular spot for me whenever I visit Reno. Very sad, this was a GREAT restaurant my experience last night was terrible ! We had to seat ourselves because no one was at the front, I used the menu on my phone because no one brought us those, the chips were stale and the food tasted old, margaritas were good, but that's it, I honestly was afraid I might get sick due to food that had been obviously sitting around, the staff acts as if you're bugging them by being there, unfortunately I won't be back. It was a birthday dinner. My pops was there, my wife was there and I was there. It's been years since I stepped foot into MiCasa Too and I was anxious to try them for dinner. I have been there for lunch and they were okay. They do not take reservations. The person on the phone, when we called stated that the time we wanted to come in was not normally busy. That was right. We got there at 6:00 PM and it was empty. We were acknowledged and seated promptly. But something just felt wrong when you're in a restaurant and it's empty. That changed as our meal was being prepared, people started to come in. At first, a few couples, then a party of 4 followed by two large parties. Service was fair but mostly friendly. They may not have had enough employees, but after I ordered a beer, it took way to long for it to find its way to my table. But, it did eventually. I ordered the taco/chile relleno combo #5 for $14.45. It was huge, but I came with an appetite. It was plated nicely and smelled good. The taco was crispy and fresh. But the relleno was "okay". It was very breaddy. Not my style. But, nonetheless, I ate it. The environment was classic Hispanic decor and the tables and floor were clean. But, the reason why I gave it three stars is it was only okay. ---------------- Bottom Line I will not likely go here anytime soon. For $14.45 I expect some wow factor. Scheduled a rehearsal dinner at this place on a recommendation from a local. I worked with the owner for my party of 42 and he reassured me he could accommodate us. Although confused and inconsistent at times, I expected him to follow thru. We showed up and all they could do was a party of 32. My family was able to fix that problem without their help. We arrived at 530 and some guests including the bride and groom waited more than 90 minutes for their dinner as did many others. The food was served cold and some orders were incorrect. No one seemed to care. It was the worst Mexican food I have EVER tasted. Reached out to owner and as of this writing, Ricky hasn't responded. read more

Micasa Ewwww My mom and I went here today for lunch and it's the first time in years we've had to pay for a meal and just leave because the food was actually inedible. Let's start with service our waitress was nice and seated up promptly. The dinning room we were sat in appeared to be the only room in the building with no windows. I ordered the chicken taco and cheese enchilada and a Michelada. There was an older gentleman helping out possibly an owner who took our drink order. We waited about 10 min for him to bring what can only be described as one of the worst "Micheladas" I've been given in a restaurant I would say it is more accurately a red beer just beer and Clamato no spices. Chips and salsa was mediocre and honestly tasted stale. At this point we are realizing we f*cked up and shouldn't have tried a new place for lunch. About 10 min later our food comes out and that's where things get tough. The rice was cold and old, the beans were extremely runny and taste like a glue one might use in a school project. The tortilla on the cheese enchilada was so throughly soaked with grease it was all you could taste and the chicken taco was too scary to even attempt to try as the chicken looked suspicious at best. My mom's meal was just as disappointing and unappealing we sat for about five min contemplated our plan of action and decided we should just scrap lunch all together and asked for the bill. Here's where things get awkward, we were polite asked for the bill and weren't looking to be rude or even complain just get outta there the older gentleman asked what was wrong realizing we had taken two bites each and had no intention of taking anything with us to which my mom politely replied we just didn't enjoy the food at all. The gentleman was just quite and clearly a little irritated but left and silently dropped our bill of $50 and walked away without a word or giving us the opportunity to give him the card my mom had ready in her hand. Next came the original waitresses again asking us if we need a box we politely decline and she says " oh you didn't like the food " to which we politely responded no but no big deal we just want to pay so she says she will meet us up front. We walk to the front again here come the grumpy faced older gentleman to ring us out at this point we are both a little confused by his attitude as we have been polite and not once asked for a comp or anything but to pay and leave. He proceeds to silently check us out and our waitress calls out to him in Spanish that we didn't eat anything and he reply's very short and irritated no. I can understand that this is a small business but what I can't understand is the high price and poor quality of food and service they are offering here. to be frank I'm surprised they can stay open with such poor quality food and interpersonal skills while we were happy to just pay and leave the lack of effort to improve the experience was surprising and very much gave the vibe of this happens all the time and they are used to it and just happy with the current state of things. I believe our waiters name was Fernando.(and no we are not friends) His service was top notch. And he was also fun during our interaction. I eat out a lot. If I cold rate O I would. A friend and my self went there 1/3/22 at noon and I have never seen such horrible treatment to customers. We sat at the Bar and it took almost 10 min for someone to help us that is only because I went to the back room and told them we were there. So we ordered margaritas he was very irritated it seemed like with us we even asked him did we come in a bad time he said no he made us Margaritas didn't ask if we wanted them blended so we get these Margaritas that aren't blended and have salt so much salt that it was disgusting the drink was disgusting the service was disgusting . He seemed very upset that we were there so we left our drinks and walked out. I've never been treated so horrible by a restaurant in my life I willl never go back to that restaurant . The fajita burrito is huge and delicious so that helps. Great chips too... just wish there was a chunky salsa because their, I'm sure, house made salsas, are lacking a salsa vibe and flavor for me. After a night of serving over 350 homeless people, Feb and I ventured out to find a late night dinner. We came across My Casa Too. Located on fourth street, parking is a breeze because they have there own lot. Having been in business for over 30 years, I am amazed that this is our first visit. We were seated promptly and I ordered a pina colada. The drink was delicious, they definitely do not skimp on the booze. I ordered a combo for dinner, it included a taco, enchilada and chili rellano. The enchilada was fabulous, stuffed with chicken and cheese. The rellano and taco lacked flavor. I was really dissapointed. Hopefully I will be back to try another dish. read more

I have never been to this location, so I was looking forward to it. Located on 4th street, they have been in this location for over thirty years. To start off I ordered a margarita blended. When I received it it seemed like it was not blended, not slushy ice, just watered down and very little flavor. For dinner I ordered a combo of a taco and enchilada. The enchilada sauce was delicious, and the chicken was very tasty. The taco was OK, the chicken was a bit bland. Can not say I will be back. read more

I loved this place in the late 70s and early 80s. It's amazing it's still standing, given it's location and the proliferation of Mexican restaurants in Reno. Would I love it again in 2017? It was a mixed bag for the four of us. I enjoyed my beef burrito, chicken taco, and sopapillas. They weren't remarkable, bit they were fine. These used to be some of my favorites, along with the loaded nachos. Other dishes did not fare as well. My friend liked a small portion of his chile relleno but left most of it as the rest did not taste good. Another did not care much for his dish, either, while another found his acceptable. It was nearly abandoned at lunchtime. Kind of sad; it used to be so vibrant. I don't think the decor or furniture has changed at all. A little sprucing up wouldn't hurt, but the key is getting the quality and consistency back in the food. There's a good-sized parking lot. The restaurant is accessible. They're probably still be standing because of their bar. read more

Our server was attentive, but unfortunately, the management was not. We seated at a booth with no one around us and a family of six came in and they seated them at the booth directly behind us. All the other booths were open. A young child kicked the booth continuously during our entire meal. Finally had to get up and change sides just to get a little relief, although the drumming of his foot never stopped. You could hear his foot in the entire wing of our seating area. The food was rather bland but that could have been overlooked should we have had a peaceful meal. We talked to our waiter about it and then the manager. The manager seemed to be the owner. He asked if we were regular customers which we have been for a little over 25 years. They went ahead and charged our entire meal and then said they could not reverse any of the charges to compensate us for the issue. Definitely a desperate measure by the owner due to an almost empty restaurant to begin with. I would not recommend MiCasa2. Sad to say. read more

Just had dinner at Micah's too. How extremely disappointed I am I cannot stress. I do not recommend the chili Verde. However if you want a large meal then you should try it. 1st time dining here. Always drive by & see a full parking lot. Thought to give it a chance. Ordered 1 michelada, Caritas platter, carne asada platter. Food was bland, beans are definetly from a can, rice was not homemade or fresh. Carnitas were dry & had no flavor. Asada was a sirloin steak vs a skirt steak (also bland). Guacamole was browning as it was probably refrigerated for more than 24hrs. #NotAuthentic. Jack in the Box could serve more authentic Mexican food. (I would bet $ on that). Shouldve taken the hint when the only customer demographic was elderly light folk whom cannot handle many authentic spices or flavoring. I did not see 1 brown family in there & now I know why.
