This should not get a one star but a zero star. I have been going to Michaels for my frames for a long time now and even had them custom made but this time I will not be going back because they ruined my frame by drilling holes when I didn't even ask them to do this. All I wanted to do was put the back on it so that I could hang my picture on the wall and being that said they did a terrible job. No one called me to let me know that they couldn't put the frame on let alone they stole the glass of it right out of the frame and replaced it with plastic which is cracked at the bottom. What they did was put a paper backing on it with screws and to hang it with wire. This was the original frame and now I can't even use the frame anymore. They offered me my refund back and then they want me to come back and choose an inexpensive custom frame that I'm going to have to pay for. Ralph is manager of the frame department and this is what he had to offer me unlike Ryan who said that he was the manager which I found out he is the assistant manager and told me over the phone that all they could offer me was a refund and nothing else. I feel that this was done poorly to my frame and I have had better service when I have brought my frames to them in the past whether it was custom or not. No one bothered to call to notify me that they were not able to put the original back on so they took a perfectly original frame and decided to put a paper backing instead and drill holes to hold it in place plus drill two more holes for them to put a wire hanger so that I could hang it up on my wall. I can't use this frame because Michaels destroyed it and they didn't even try to fix the holes they just left it there. I will never go back to a Michaels again for what they did to this frame. If your going to have a frame done go somewhere else where if you are going to have it custom made and make sure that they treat you and the frame with respect. read more

An employee suggested I pull up a coupon for a higher priced item i was going to buy, come to find out it didn't qualify for a discount because it was an "everyday value price" which to me = bullshit. Expect to pay full price, unless your lucky enough to get something on sale because although the coupon says plus an additional 20% off entire purchase that is FALSE ADVERTISING. This weekend was super crazy because they had a holiday sale (which was a pretty awesome deal) and the workers were all doing their best to get people through the line as quick as possible. It's two weeks before Christmas and of course I knew it was going to be busy at ANY store, but I had to get an item framed for the holidays. I went here on a Sunday, December 15th about 2pm. Walked in and immediately spotted at least 50 people in the checkout line. Turned around right in the doorway and left. Never even made to the merchandise. There is no excuse for that. Did Michael's forget it is Christmas? I've been in retail over 40 years and I know you need to have proper staff for the holidays. Any retailer who expects me to wait behind 50 people to pay premium prices for their merchandise is our of their mind. Since I had never been to this location, I spent a little longer than I should've having to look for everything...since there were no employees to be found. Actually, correction** - there was one employee that I came across. I asked her where I could find the foam letter stickers and she looked at me confused and then quickly told me that they stopped selling them. In my head I was like, "now why the heck would they do that? That's a popular item for projects/decorating/scrapbooking." For some odd reason, I didn't believe her, so I ventured around and GUESS what?! I FOUND THEM. -_____- I was appalled at how lazy she was, she didn't even take the time to help me find it, instead she quickly shut me down and said they didn't have it anymore. I'm walking out of this store for the second time. These people here are incredibly unhelpful. But hey, thanks California for giving them $15 an hour. I came here a week ago and they were out of a specific 8x8 frame I was looking for. I asked one of the associates to help me, he grabbed his inventory gun and scanned what I was looking for saying they were out of stock. He told me to come back a week later and that'd have them in, "for sure". Well, I did, and guess what? They're still not in stock. I asked the 3 people for help here, "there's no one in the framing department?" they said. No s#%^ Sherlock, that's why I am asking you. The girl then paged someone even more useless to help me. I asked the "framing girl" do you have anymore 8x8s in stock? She replies, "If it's not on the shelf we don't have it." Then she walks away, no apology, didn't even bother using that stupid gun after the last guy told me a week before they'd be in stock. Wonderful. I work retail myself, and I demand I be treated with a little respect, ya know? Just a tad. Especially after dealing with s*itty people all day. At least even when people suck, I still have a smile on my face, offer a million apologies and try to do what I can to make that person happy. If you like crafts, Michael's is for you. I bought frames for posters and most recently craft pumpkins and a versatile (hot knife) after watching a video on YouTube. When I asked an employee about the hot knife she said they didn't have one and I should try Walmart. I figured she was new because it was featured in the video. I found it on my own but have been helped by employees many times in the past to find needed items. Warning for husbands, if you go with your wife she may take a long time looking around. They always have sales so make sure you check or ask an employee. Also make sure you check the clearance section, there is usually some cool stuff. read more

Ugh. Totally Frustrating. I usually get all of my mats and framing done at Aaron Brothers. However, this Michael's is close to my work and I only needed mats cut, so I figured I'd give them a try. Big mistake. I took my art in in Friday 12/9. I picked out my frames and took my art up to the counter. Placing my order took 30 minutes, mostly because the employees were chatting with each other while taking the measurements. Fine. They told me my mats would be ready the following Tuesday, 12/13. Fair enough. It's getting close to the holidays, so 4 days seemed reasonable. I then got a call on 12/13 saying my mats weren't ready and that they wouldn't be until late Friday, 12/16 or Saturday 12/17. Now I'm getting irritated. 8 days to cut 5 mats seems excessive, but at least they called. I wasn't able to get away from work to pick up my art until Tuesday 12/20. I thought about calling ahead of time just to make sure my order was complete, but why would it take 11 days to cut 5 mats?! Well, sure as s**t, I show up to pick up my art on the 20th and guess what! It's not ready. And here come the excuses: "We're really busy" (not my problem), "Sometimes these kinds of orders don't come up on our work list" (not my problem). The guy at the desk tells me they will upgrade my glass free of charge, but since there's really no way I can determine if they've actually done this or not, I'm suspecting that's just a line. I gave them two stars because they really do have a good selection of items. However, I suggest if you go here, that you bring along some lighter fluid and matches because you have to practically set yourself ablaze to get someone to help you. If you are lucky enough to find someone, there's a pretty good chance they can't or won't be willing to help you. I get my reading glasses there because they're inexpensive and I buy several pair at a time. Last time I went in, I set myself on fire to get a clerk's attention, and the conversation went like this: Me: Excuse me, do you know where the reading glasses have been moved to? There's no doubt that I really love Michael's. I go back there every time I could. Though today I'm a bit disappointed on what I got. My Mom and I bought 2 Black Studio Frame Home Collection online and we are very disappointed on what we got. The other frame was broken.. COMPLETELY BROKEN we haven't open it up from its bubble wrap yet but we could hear and feel the shattered glass already. My Mom and I went to the nearest Michael store and had a refund. We went home thinking the other frame was fine because when we tried to check it, it doesn't have a shattered glass. When we got home, we tried opening it. And here's the thing.. yes the glass isn't broken but then the border is! My Mom got so frustrated coz it's too late to go back again at Michaels plus it was heavy for us to bring it back. Good thing someone assisted us at Michaels on the first frame. Here's a tip.. DONT EVER BUY THINGS ONLINE AT MICHAELS esp frames. You wouldn't know whether it's broken or not but I could absolutely say whoever packed this item and shipped it was very irresponsible because there weren't enough air pillow in the packaging and the frame wasn't even assembled properly. read more

This is a great Michaels location. It's the same as the other Michaels in terms of what they sell and prices, etc. But this is the closest one to me and I'm satisfied with it. The customer service is great. Every time I've needed help finding something I can always quickly locate someone to help me and I get help in a quick and friendly manner. You'll find lots of cute items here that you wouldn't find elsewhere! I love when I find awesome home decor because I never come in here looking for any of that but I'll end up leaving with some of it. They have all the typical craft items but they don't have fabric, just like all of the other Michaels locations. Look online for coupons. There's always a coupon available and there always seems to be some sort of sale going on as well. They always hand me coupons when I'm in the store and checking out too. All in all it's a good Michaels. In terms of craft stores, I prefer Joann because there's so much more there but when I need a quick and common item I'll go to Michaels. read more

This is a pretty large craft store and I usually find what I'm looking for without a problem. The parking lot is huge and there's always available space, which makes this a convenient stop for when I'm in the area or shopping at the Buena Park Mall across the street. They have a very large selection of frames and the people that work in the framing department are really helpful. Oh, and there are always good Michael's coupons in the OC Register. It's clean, well organized, and the checkout line moves quickly even when it's long. So why only three stars? Whenever I can't find something or I have a question, I have the hardest time finding an employee to ask! I usually just give up..I don't know if they hide or if they're all just constantly moving around but I really hate that. In a store that large where most people are looking for a single particular item, there should be a larger amount of employees available to help. read more

After my local "Tall Mouse Craft Store" closed down my next option and go to craft store was this Michaels. And I'm glad to say I'm thoroughly pleased. The plaza it's in has PLENTY of parking. There is also a Dollar Tree in the same area which is AWESOME. This Michaels is really clean and well stocked. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I usually buy all my scrap booking and crochet supplies here. So many colorful and vibrant items makes it hard to choose just one and I end up spending way too much money. Went here because I did not feel like driving all the way to the Long Beach location. A little sad that I did not just suck it up and go. I went here specifically for jewelry needs. For whatever reason they did not really have as big as a selection as the Long Beach one. I was looking for a specific style of bracelet and found nothing. I did end up getting yarn and a few strings of beads. I would have probably given this store 3 stars but I was charged twice for one item and did not receive the discount that was advertised for a few of my items. I called the store and spoke to Ryan. WOW, he is excellent in customer service. He looked up on the computer to and found out that yes, the picture had been framed at their store! I explained that it had been accidentally knocked off the wall and it needed to be repaired. Since I am handicapped and in a wheelchair, he met me at my car and carried the frame into the store. Ryan was the BEST!!! We talked about fixing the frame or doing an entirely new frame. We both felt it was easier to redo the entire frame because the old frame was damaged. He honored my JoAnne's coupon for 50% off. It took him about 15 minutes to completely reframe the picture. Then I held the frame and he pushed me in the wheelchair out to my car. This is what you call superior customer service! Way to go Ryan! Keep the great customer service coming our way! The only thing that I would like to see is for them to have handicap carts because I would have liked to have done more shopping and it takes so long to wheel myself around in the store. Honestly would've given it 0 starts because I had a horrible experience with one of the cashiers. As I was paying for my items they asked me if I wanted to donate 0.57 cents to children in need. A boy be broke so I promptly responded no thank you, however this did not seem to sit well with the employee. For the rest of the time they continued to death stare me down despite my constant requests to stop. The final thing they said to me was "it's 57 cents you broke bitch" to which I responded with "man it's my money, tell them kids to get a job or something. if someone like you has one I don't see why they couldn't." Worst customer service ever I'm in this store buying crafting supplies weekly can in on Saturday and bought a craft cart they didn't offer to help me out with it as it is very heavy I asked if there was somebody that can help me carry it and I was told they're all customer service people are busy so I had to carry it out myself got it home realized that it is broke tried to return it and was told I could not return it because they didn't know if it was broke in store or if I did it at home being I only had it for less than 30 minutes I can guarantee it was broke in store I asked to talk to a manager and was told they were at lunch so I had to take the cart back home and now I have to live with it and I paid $80 for this broken cart I will never be back to the store after the way I was treated shame on you Michaels read more

I have not been to Michael's in years but I dropped by on a whim looking for an amethyst colored floral arrangement. I struggled a bit to find those colors but was greeted by Ryan, who politely asked if I needed help and he made my search a breeze. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very charismatic. His customer service was amazing and I plan to contact his supervisor as well to let them know how excellently he performs the duties of his job and how pleasant and courteous he is to the customer. read more
