I've been in customer service for 6 years. Granted, I don't consider myself an expert, but i'm a firm believer that if you walk into work hating being there, your day at work will suck. I called ahead of time because I wanted to confirm that they were open with normal hours because I was going to make a stop during Father's Day. My cousins graduation from UCSB was on Father's Day, so I wanted to purchase some ribbon to make him a few ribbon leis. I just called to simply confirm the hours and the employee that answered the phone gave me so much attitude. I get that you would be upset working on a major holiday...i've been there. I just don't understand what good comes out of being rude to a customer that has a simple question. Maybe I caught her in a minor bad moment, but I don't see that to be an excuse to be rude. Store itself wasn't the greatest. It just looked like things just get restocked, but nothing gets cleaned. I only went in for the ribbon, so I didn't really take the time to look around. I was able to grab everything I needed and I'm just glad that the cashier was a lot nicer then the woman that answered the phone. At least my cousin really enjoyed the leis that I made. read more

The associate that rang us up tells us that next time my daughter needs to use her own phone for the coupon or print it. I tell her she's 9 and does not have a phone. This store always makes a big deal about the coupons and it's always the same associate. I've never got questioned about coupons from any other associate. This is the WORST Michael's I've ever been too. It could easily be the WORST retail store that I have been to. And it all revolves around ONE person. I've reached out to the store manager and corporate and from reading reviews on here, I see some about him as well. ISSAC IS THE WORST "MANAGER" THAT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED! I LOVE Michael's and have been VERY loyal to them since Hobby Lobby as been around (that will be changing now) I just moved to this area about 4 months ago and I am in Michael's ALL the time. One of the first times I came into this store I was "lucky" enough to deal with Issac. I was checking out and using a 25% off coupon. The girl ringing me up told me that the coupon wouldn't work on what I was buying. I asked her why not and she said "it just won't work" I looked over the coupon and there was NOTHING excluding those items. NOTHING. I asked if she had a manager I could talk to and she called over Issac. I explained the situation and he told me "It won't work." I asked again why, wanting an explanation as the coupon said NOTHING about it and he continued to tell me "because it won't work." "it's out policy" I asked him to speak to the STORE MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS HIM!!!!! I left this day extremely unhappy with his lack of compassion and RUDENESS. A few weeks later, I sent my fiance in to pick something up for me. He again was going to use a coupon. The coupons we use are on our phones. When my fiance went to pull up the app, the screen went black (this is an issue that we constantly have with the Michael's app) My fiance showed the cashier and had him tap on the app so he could watch the screen showing that it was THEIR app that didn't work. The cashier said "my phone does that when I open the app ALL the time" He told my fiance to hold on and that he would get his manager, lucky us, it was Issac again. Issac told him that he couldn't honor the discount because he had to have the bar code which is COMPLETE BS. I can not even begin to count the times I have gone to a Michael's and my phone has been dead or I didn't know about the coupon and the cashier pulled out a printed coupon, scanned it, and gave me the discount. In fact, about a year ago, I was at a Michael's in Redlands and had no idea there was a coupon. I spent tons of money and in line, the cashier overheard me talking about the stuff I was buying for my wedding and just to be nice, gave me the discount. Issac still wouldn't give my fiance the discount and wouldn't even look at him while he was talking. He was actually talking to SOMEONE ELSE while talking to my fiance. We took the product, went to the Upland store (my old favorite store) and explained the situation. The price adjusted NO QUESTIONS ASKED. At that point, I am SO irritated. I call the Michael's store in Chino Hills and ask to talk to the Store Manager and of course, I can't get hold of her. This is now the THIRD TIME I asked for her. I talked to the "assistant manager" Patrick and explained the issues I was having. He ensured me he'd speak to him, but that is as far as it went. Later that day, there was a big Storage Event going on in the store. There were tons of things on sale on the website. NONE of what I looked at said "online only" I went into the store and asked a girl where the storage things were that were on sale. She took me to a fixture and told me there was more on an isle. I grabbed the ones that I wanted and went to go pay and of course, they didn't ring up as on sale. I showed her the sale on my phone and she called her manager, can anyone guess who it was? Yes, Issac. He started coming up to the register, took one look at me and walked away. He wouldn't even come speak to us. He was telling the girl over their headsets what to say to me. I told them over and over again that these indeed were on sale. They were the brands that the sale tag said were on sale. I mentioned that I saw them online and he told us to GO BUY THEM ONLINE THEN. After that I was DONE and promised I would NOT be back. I went to the store in Walnut and surprise surprise, they were on sale. I called corporate who then said a DM would get in touch with me. It took the Store Manager over a week to call me. She told me she "assumed" someone else had called to talk to me, even though it was HER store. Sunday I went to the Michael's in Walnut (as I will not shop at the Chino Hills one) and they told me they had something and they didn't have it. The ONLY store anywhere near where I was that had it was Chino Hills. I needed it then and couldn't order online so I had to go. When I got there of course Issac was there and to this day, I've never seen the Store Manager. I am starting to begin to wonder if she is even real. As I was checking out, I over heard him ARGUING WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER about a freaking coupon!! Seriously!!? Enough is enough!!! He was SO rude to her! So rude! And still wouldn't honor the coupon even though there was NO exclusion on it. read more

They have everything you need but not the best services. I always have a hard time finding someone to help me. The check out line is always long. At one point I waited over 10 minutes (being the next person in line I kept waiting) and they finally opened up a new line. When they did, someone cuts in line before me and the worker says, "don't worry you'll be next" as if I'm some little kid that needs to be reminded to be patient, after waiting more than 10-15 minutes! At that point the person in front of me already ditched her stuff and left. They really need to up their game on their customer service there! read more

I went here to speak to a specialist in regards to framing. I was greeted by the employees that worked there in a friendly way. While waiting for the individual that specializes in framing, an associate asked if I was finding everything ok and informed me the associate will be out right away. The framing specialist Alex was extremely nice and helpful. He helped me find a beautiful frame for my college degree and helped me save the most money I could. He even told me about a 75% off deal they are having and helped me with the price. Awesome and friendly service! read more

From all the Michaels I have been to, this is the one that has the best customer service so far. I took a decorating class and the store manager was very accommodating to make sure I had the right supplies and that we had the products necessary to finish the course. Also, she would kindly match prices or give discounts when we had an issue with some accessories. She definitely made be considered driving over 25 miles to get the best service possible. read more

Customer service is terrible, bought a picture frame brought it home and fell apart in my hands when I took the wrapper off. Took it back did not have the receipt and that's when it all goes to hell. We brought the same frame to the counter willing to pay for one and exchange the other. The person working the register couldn't figure it out thought I might have to provide a passport, drivers license and social security number just to exchange a lousy 20 dollar frame. Just had a wonderful craft party at this Michael's location for my daughter's birthday. Nancy and Lucy were wonderful: very sweet, helpful and patient helping five giggly tween girls make dream catchers. The girls had a great time. The room was set up very cute and went well with our theme. All in all we were very pleased and impressed with our party experience. It was nice to have a different option for a party than the standard pizza or bouncer place. Very fun and creative! read more

Does anyone else HATE the new setup of the store? It's horrible. I walk in and there's a horizontal-facing wall of stuff in my face and I can't even see the store. I tried to get used to it the last few months but I cannot. It's a hot mess and you can't get through many of the aisles with your cart. The flow is terrible. I don't get how the store/company thinks this is a good idea. That big wall blocks the view for customers and cashiers. I've never spent so little money in that store before. I usually walk in and I see and want everything. I was expecting to fall in love with a handmade wreath or some beautiful item, but no. Now there's nothing to see so I bought twizzlers & ribbon and left. Corp really needs to come out and fix this disaster. They are definitely losing sales with me. read more

There is tons of stuff here to create arts and craft projects and also decorating for the holidays. The frames here always seem to be on sale. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, so I would suggest asking them a few questions if you every get stuck on a project. read more

Monday Dec 10th. I was in a line of 22 people, and they had 2 cashiers working. Another employee walked up and a customer nicely asked if they could open another register. The employee cheerfully agreed and was getting ready to open a 3rd register. One of the other cashiers told her not to. She walked away. When I finally got up to the register I mentioned how long the line was. The cashier shrugged her shoulders and said, "it's the holidays". I was bothered because they were clearly not taking customer service into consideration and I could tell they knew they could do this. read more

Just another Michaels store. I frequent this one a lot. The staff there are friendly and it's easy to find someone if you have any questions to ask. If you have a smartphone, be sure to look for coupons as you'll likely find one that will save you at least 40% on an item, or print one out before you leave the house. A lot of the stuff there is slightly higher priced, almost as if they expect you to use the coupons. read more

Why they don't stock proper hanging kits for metal frames for sale, has me shaking my head in disbelief. They don't stock them, yet they will be happy to install them on your frame... Really!? I've spent a small fortune at this store over the years, because my daughter was an art student and it's the only game in town for that kind of stuff. Never liked going in, though, because the premises are dirty and cluttered, the mark-up on their merchandise is obscene, and when you finally find someone to ask a question they don't have a clue what the answer is. Now that my daughter's on her own I don't shop there as often as I used to, but lately I've noticed that every time I do go in, there's another customer getting the run-around about a discount. In fact, this store seems to LOOK for ways to avoid honoring their own discounts. This morning I was doing some last-minute holiday shopping, and one of the employees told me that there was going to be a 20% off sale -- everything in the store -- starting at 4:00. So I went home, waited until 4:00, and went back, only now they suddenly decided they needed a coupon to give the discount. I told them the guy earlier hadn't said anything about a coupon, but the cashier just kept her ridiculous "cheerful" grin plastered onto her face, running her well-rehearsed speech about not being able to give the discount without the coupon. The savings would only have been a few dollars, so in the end I paid it and left. Hope the $5 was worth it, Michael's, because I will never spend another dime at your store. read more

I will never shop at Michael's again!! I bought a spin art toy for my son yesterday. It worked 3 times and then stopped. I took it back to exchange it for another one today and the store manager gave me the biggest attitude about it. He finally agreed to exchange it, then he noticed that I purchased it with the 40% coupon. He said that he would return my item at the discounted price, then recharge the same item at full price! I said, it wasn't my fault, the product was defective, but he didn't care. I walked out and vowed I would never return. This is the only location so far that actually is helpful and is friendly. There are 2 young ladies that work there who are always smiling and actullay checks their inventory on the shelves if none are on the floor. They also seem to re-stock their shelves often, which is always good. read more

Every time when my daughter or my son do the school's project, I will rush here for all the items that will be needed and it never lets me down. The coupon is always available in its website and the associates are usually very helpful and give the good solution on how to do the best project at the lowest cost. The store provides free courses such as drawing, crafting and baking during the weekends. read more

I hate to do this, but it just has to be said as there may be a way to improve things at this store. It feels to me like there is a general air of either panic with the employees or arrogance at the other end of the spectrum that makes me dread going in there. Twice in two days the exact same thing happened I went into pick something up, one was an online order, one was locked in a cage with the other aerosols. Each time I asked an employee for help. Both told me to push a button and wait for help. I did what they asked. About 15 minutes later, the exact same employee who told me to push the button showed up to assist me. I've worked in retail and I get the fact that it's the holidays and it is no fun dealing with a bunch of lunatics trying to get their last minute shopping and decorations. But, you MUST use your head and get organized. This is a great store in terms of inventory. You have all the tools there to be successful. Corporate needs to send someone in to retrain these poor folks Because they are really having a hard time. read more

I was in Michaels last night at about 7:00 pm on 11/28/16. I went to Staples first and had a bag with my items that I purchased at Staples. The lady who worked on the floor was very nice. She had to stop what she was doing to unlock the bathroom door for my kids. The lady at the register was very nice. I left my Staples bag in the Michaels cart. Sure they have lots of nice stuff, that's great, However, I came in there with a really nice picture which needed a piece of glass 12 x 14. They wanted $42, $45 to install it. I won't be coming back any time soon. Had a piece of glass cut elsewhere and installed it myself for $3!!!! read more
