We're all doing our part to bring in some revenue to the local businesses. Yesterday morning I ordered some small, in stock items from here using the website. I was told I would be notified when it was ready for pick up, but did not get an email until early evening --- just before they closed. I went out there today to pick up the order, following instructions on the email I waited in my car. After sitting through their automated phone system, it starts to ring. After 3 rings it is picked up and then I am hung up on. Called back, same result. This went on for close to a dozen times. I finally go to the front of the store, and there was one woman bringing a bag out to a car. She could not have been more rude! Wouldn't even take names of people waiting. There were about 8-10 customers sitting out there in the cars, being treated like we were plague victims. We're going out of our way trying to keep local people employed and businesses afloat. This is the closest Michaels to me so I come here OFTEN. As in, 3-4x/week. I'm a crafter, own a small business and an "Etsy mom". This place is the WORST when it comes to lines. They are always understaffed and they are always out of merchandise. The associates are nice but I've had more than one employee tell me how management lacks in leadership and scheduling. I loooooooooove Michaels. I could spend hours in here like Hobby Lobby. I buy some of my bakery tools from here as they cost about the same on amazon and it's just more convenient for me if I need anything right away. The good thing about this place is they always have nice coupons like half off original price on an item or sometimes a certain percentage off your total. You can reuse coupons (just look them up on your phone). They have 'free' classes as well on certain days! I say 'free' because you sometimes have to buy the supplies but what I am interested in are those Saturday classes from I believe 10am-12pm for kids. They have some festive classes coming up for your little ones! Popular items go fast especially when they go on sale. I see other shoppers buying out all the items in stock as they are greedy and don't want to even give me one! I saw this cute pie box on sale for like $10 and this woman bought like 20 of them which was everything in stock... 4 stars. read more

Michaels has officially become my school supply store for Arts and Crafts. My 5 and 7 year old kids have school projects that require extra creativity. I can count on Michaels to deliver all the accessories and goods that are required. I can always find stickers, glitter, seasonal items, construction paper, and all the other art supplies you can think of. On my last visit I was looking for feathers and felt paper. This very nice gal, who was multitasking, found the time to help me find my items. When it came to the felt paper, she found a ladder and opened a couple of boxes to help me find my color. She totally rocked! Extra star for that effort. I will have to say one thing, if you are claustrophobic this store is not for you. The aisles are narrow and they stack items up high. I would not want to be here during an earthquake, bring a helmet. Make sure to look for coupons in the Sunday paper or the internet for some 40 to 50% off on your purchase. This is the worst Michaels I have ever been to. It has the worst customer service I've ever seen. I didn't think a Michaels could be this bad. Guess I was wrong. My mom saw Christmas lights for sale in another Michaels. She asked if they would honor the same price here in Chino, because my mom wanted to show them to me before she bought them and we live near Chino. An employee scoffed at us and said they were not on sale. The assistant store manager, Patrick, said they would give us the same price, but he said he needed to verify the price in his scanner. He also said a receipt from that store would prove this. I'm pretty sure his scanner was just for the store in Chino because it showed that the lights were full price. I called the Rancho Cucamonga store from the Chino store and they said they were 50% off so he basically lied to us. I didn't want to deal with him because him and employees were rude so we drove all the way back to the Rancho store from Chino, about a half hour drive. The lights were indeed 50% off. I don't know why Patrick didn't have the common sense to just call the Rancho store instead of just checking his store scanner. He probably just wanted the store to make more money and didn't want to give us the discount. We went back to the Chino store the next day because it's closer to us and there was a different holiday sale. We talked to Patrick and showed our receipt. He would not honor the price at the other Michaels. What a liar! I wish he would have kept his word. He made up some lame excuse about prices differing at each store and totally disregarded what he told us yesterday about honoring the prices at other Michaels. This Michaels is more expensive than others. Some of the smaller items are about $2-3 more expensive and sale items are 50% more expensive, like the Christmas lights. Like Patrick, most of the employees here are rude and unhelpful. Maybe it is the culture he leads. There was one older woman who was nicer. The employees don't know what is on sale and which coupons work with which items. The store itself is disorganized and items are all over the floor. A lot of the aisles are not labeled so it's hard to find stuff in the store. Also, as noted above, the prices are more expensive than other Michaels. The worst part is the assistant manager. I don't get why he can't be nice and provide good customer service. The aisles are not all wheelchair accessible because of the way the items are placed in the store. I wasn't able to go down the aisle by the cashier because it wasn't wheelchair accessible. Be sure to check sales papers for coupons. They usually have a 40% off one item in the paper. They also have coupons online and will honor them from your phone. Unfortunately, this is the closest Michaels to me but I will try my best to avoid this location. read more

Im sorry Michaels did not buy quality shopping carts so its very hard to push the carts from aisle to aisle. You described everything in my cart yet you did not apologize or offer to help me retrieve the items from my full cart. When I checked out, you like dropping my items into my cart really hard and give me a boo boo face. Whatever, due to lack of experience in customer service is probably why youre grown and work at Michaels. Big parking, but cramped store. Their layout can be kind of confusing. And during the holidays it gets packed and can be hard to maneuver around the isles. It's pretty quick check out and employees are nice. They never give me a hard time with coupons like some stores have in the past. read more

This definitely isn't the best Michaels I've been too but it's alright. I would have given it 4 stars but recently, I witnessed something really sad. There I was taking advantage of buy one get one free on sketchbooks, when I over hear this young girl talking to an associate about copic markers. She had a lot of questions about them because she was obviously new to the world of copic and prisma. She asked "Whats the difference between crayola and copic?" the associate replied "they're just better." that will not answer this poor girls question, she came here for some guidance and the associate just gave her short answers then rushed off after she could pick colors fast enough. I approached her and help her resolve all her questions, from copic, to which paper is best for pen art. And introduced her to cross hatching I found it absolutely horrible that a CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSOCIATE could not find the time of day to help this budding artist, if he didn't know he should have foud someone who did. I've worked retail for 4years and I would never walk away from a customer with questions unless I couldn't answer them then I would walk away to find someone who does. In the end I showed them the app to get the coupon so she was able to get her pack of markers, I gave her tips and tricks and youtubers to watch, and they walked away happy. I'm still pretty disappointed that no one had helped her. The Michael's I love always had associates who could help me and seemed genuine to want to help me. Hate is a strong word I know but I REALLY HATE this store and their coupon police policies. I've been to plenty of other stores where the "work with you". For example: I purchased a Valentines Day flag and decided that I'd rather have a St. Patrick's day flag. Same price neither we're on sale yet and they refused to exchange because its "seasonal". I also have to mention one register open at 6pm is a bit ridiculous as well. While waiting in the ridiculous line my cell phone died and was told I had to show 40% off coupon THAT I JUST USED minutes prior. When the customer behind me offered for me to use the coupon from their phone the cashier became very angry and shouted that "wasn't allowed" Get it together and work with your customers. My mom and I were in the seasonal decor area of the store where an elderly employee by the name of Linda was extremely rude to my mom and I. My mom was glancing at a few Christmas decorations when Linda threw an item into a cart my mom was standing by. The item Linda threw almost hit my mom. I've taken some time over the past few weeks to do holiday shopping and ventured to my Michaels here. If been shopping here for quite some time, and took the time to chat with the employees. Their staff is great and very helpful knowing where anything I needed was. I'm here to redeem the employees who have been falsified by other reviews. As of today I saw employees given dirty looks by people waking in who I overheard saying 'Oh so your the (employee name)' and the employee questioned what she meant, and she commented 'oh the nasty one on yelp' 85% of the CUSTOMERS that shop there have the nasty attitudes, don't understand what 'policy' means, and I too get rawled up waiting in line because of their incompetence. We went to the valentine slime craft today at 1 pm. Most of the fun and doing this type of craft involves actually mixing the slime. Maybe this event was different than I had anticipated. We went into the craft classroom which was hot and muggy and smelled foul. There were about 20 moms and kids crammed into the room when I arrive w my 2 children. I had no idea who the employee was or where she was but I could hear her. There was an elderly woman sitting down on a chair in the corner at the back of the room shouting at kids what not to do over and over. I finally figured out who the woman was and went over there. I must stress that this woman (Michaels employee) MUST address her hygiene and grooming. The smell was foul and her demeanor no better. She had ready-made jars of slime and asked us to choose the color that we wanted. She SLAPPED the slime into our hands and we went to the table to start mixing in the glitter. She admonished us not to put the slime down on the brown paper rather to use wax paper. But there was none for us to use. I asked her over and over for wax paper. She said there's some over there people are not using. But There was no room in the space to move around. She finally got up and slapped a wax paper in front of my face so that I could use it. So I did. Kids enjoyed their slime mixing for the 5 minutes I could tolerate the stench in that room. We got out of there quickly. And we wont return to do classes if that woman is working in the room. read more

Horrible way of managing customer service. There was a long a line today, and the cashier told us that, if we wanted to, we could go to the second line that was farther down. I was third in line, and since no one in front of me moved, I migrated to the next cashier, as was usual. Well, the woman that had stayed in the first line but didnt move started asking questions ("could they do returns?") and complaining. She was still in the original line. I was now next in line at the other cashier now. And then the first cashier told the one I was in line for to let the woman go in front of "the lady that cut". Hello? What the fuck? How the hell is that considered cutting, when you told us to "move over if you wanted to" and that woman obviously was originally intending to stay at the same line? And I was right after her? Seriously? If anything, SHE was the one intending to cut, and I do NOT believe that in terms of customer service, it is right to allow that. Also, she's doing a return, and I'm doing an actual purchase. Really? You want to piss off a customer that has yet to complete their purchase here? I usually try to buy retail to support local stores and because of the better customer service, but I obviously won't be doing that anymore, at least not here. Long line? It's ok, I'll wait. But unfortunately, one of the things I cannot stand includes being wrongly accused of something that I did not do, and of being taken advantage of. Customer service should be FAIR. I'm giving this Location a 1 star, because Yelp doesn't offer a negative star. My question is, why do the cashier's bother asking,"did you find everything ok?" AND you answer truthfully and they get upset. I asked the clerk if she could locate an item at another store, and the closing Manager, Alejandro, intervened. He said, no because the other local stores had already called looking for the same item. He then proceeded to pull the cashier to the next register and told her not to tell customers if there is still stock in any store this way you don't have to call!! What??? I can still hear you!!! Mind you, the are 4 cashiers and only 2 people in line. I work in retail and i never treat customers with such dismissiveness. Furthermore, being a strong leader means you set the example. OOoOOoo.... a Michael's with decent, friendly service? Don't believe? I never expect to get good service from Michaels. Nor do I expect for them to have what I'm looking for in stock. However, this particular location has proven me wrong multiple times. I guess this poor chain has been tainted by its old self when only grumpy, old ladies used to work there. On my last Michael's run I was on the hunt for picture frames to hang on my family room wall... they had all sorts of styles sizes and designs. One associate offered to assist me with frames, which was nice. So far this location has not let me down. Returns are easy as long as your item is returned within the correct amount of time that is on the receipt. Make sure you come here with either a 40% or 50 % off coupon. I asked for help figuring out pricing for 116 shirts and no one would take the time to assist me in purchasing a big order. I spoke to everyone there and each of them gave me a look of annoyance when they heard the number 116. Each gave a different excuse to why they weren't help me. I've been in customer service for 6 years. Granted, I don't consider myself an expert, but i'm a firm believer that if you walk into work hating being there, your day at work will suck. I called ahead of time because I wanted to confirm that they were open with normal hours because I was going to make a stop during Father's Day. My cousins graduation from UCSB was on Father's Day, so I wanted to purchase some ribbon to make him a few ribbon leis. I just called to simply confirm the hours and the employee that answered the phone gave me so much attitude. I get that you would be upset working on a major holiday...i've been there. I just don't understand what good comes out of being rude to a customer that has a simple question. Maybe I caught her in a minor bad moment, but I don't see that to be an excuse to be rude. Store itself wasn't the greatest. It just looked like things just get restocked, but nothing gets cleaned. I only went in for the ribbon, so I didn't really take the time to look around. I was able to grab everything I needed and I'm just glad that the cashier was a lot nicer then the woman that answered the phone. At least my cousin really enjoyed the leis that I made. read more
