This is a nice diner in the neighborhood. I've eaten here a few times. I've never had a problem with my order. It's one of the smallest diners I've seen. It can seem over crowded. I wouldn't recommend eating inside. It's not very comfortable. The food is hot and cooked fresh, you can see the chefs from your seat. Their prices are reasonable. I've also ordered through DoorDash and the prices weren't inflated much. I appreciate how they package to go orders. They include silverware and condiments for your meal. Let me start by saying that the customer service I receive when I go is always good. The ladies are pleasant and respectful. Today I ordered and waited for a breakfast sandwich. I drove 20 minutes to work only to find out that it is missing an item. I called and was told I can bring it back to get another made or pretty much deal with it. The owner doesn't credit of any kind. I liked this stop, convenient but I don't have time to stay and eat. You offer a service and when it inconveniences your customers you should at least appear to offer a realistic option. First time here, even though I lived up the street for a year and half. I always wanted to try it. Now that I moved I took my grandson on his first train/rapid ride, which he enjoyed. That's when I remembered Michael's was right by the tracks. It was busy. A Sunday home Browns game. So people were in a hurry and cut in front of me and my grandson. The hostess saw this and we were forced to the counter. My grandson is only 3. Getting ready to order and they went out of their way to move us to a booth. The manager/owner or whomever he's supposed to be has zero customer service skills and if you ever have an issue you'll see for yourself as he transforms into a loud mouth bully. I seen a frozen party placed on the flat top with a press but they did season it . It was ok for for 6 dollars with the lettuce tomato and onions. The breakfast menu looks killer lots of selection. Big dinner menu too , and appetizer menu. The staff is very nice old school decor inside nice place to grab a bite to eat they are quick too . They have the lottery set up in here too right next to the blue and green line train. They have specials everyday as well . Kudos great lunch read more

I've lived in this area for about 5 years. I'm within walking distance and will stop in occasionally before or after work. My boyfriend is actually new to the area and enjoys the breakfast/lunch items. The service is average, depending upon the day and time you order. We're on a first name basis with most of the staff. However, it's give and go. Simple, menial, tasks like a request for "NO CHEESE" seems to be overlooked almost every time we order. My boyfriend can't have dairy. Imagine ordering food to eat before work. Waiting an additional 10 minutes for said order although you called ahead. Bringing food home only to realize that it's incorrect AND there's not enough time to re-order, wait, pick up and WAIT again, EVEN WHEN IT'S SLOW. Few suggestions. While taking the order, how about typing it in or even writing it down to ensure it's correct. Not take 4 other orders then scramble to the register to figure it out. How about handling the customers in the order they call or come in. OR...how about hiring competent service workers or offering more hours to the ones that usually get it right. read more

Oh, Michael's. I'm glad that my longing for a NY-style diner experience can at last be satisfied. However, do keep in mind that it also resembles a typical NY diner in that there's nothing fancy. At all. The place is quite unassuming. It's contained in a glass box by the Shaker Square rapid station... Or, rather, the place -is- the station, occupying the space behind the westbound platform. So, naturally, the place is much longer lengthwise, and combined with the typical, humble diner-ish interior, it creates a very unassuming, down-to-earth atmosphere. (Also note: while not spotless, the bathroom is not terrifyingly dirty. Yay, extra points!) It feels much busier than it actually is--between the people waiting for the rapid just outside the diner (and around), those coming in to buy lottery tickets, and those just chatting it away with the people working here and/or each other. The menu is on the smaller side for a diner, but has almost everything that one would look for at a diner. The typical diner fares are far from disappointing, and the gyro meat that keeps being mentioned by other reviewers is, indeed, pretty impressive. And all of them are served in generous portions. The only thing missing is a fried food "sampler"--an option to have a little bit of each kind of deep-fried goodness... Maybe my college town's diner just spoiled me a lot. Not a huge issue, either way. Many of the dishes contain less vegetables than would be considered normal at other places, but you don't go to a diner for shredded iceberg lettuce, I suppose. Also, UNLIKE many NY diners, this place actually closes on weeknights. Open all night on weekends. This place is GREAT at what it does. Late night, cheap, breakfast food. Coming from NJ I miss the diner culture and didn't expect to find these kind of end of the night places here. Nothing is amazing, nor is it disappointing. I have been there for breakfast and lunch, and both were perfectly cromulent. I noticed that one of the previous reviewers was lamenting the elimination of the rotating gyro meat skewers and their replacement with pre-sliced gyro strips. Well, Sarah Z, I see your review was written in 2008, so I hope you know that Michae'ls has reintroduced the giant lumps of roasting gyro meat, and it's mighty tasty. In the three times I have been to Michael's the service has been consistently okay, and the server was always friendly. For you people watchers, it's fun to see the trains go through and see the people getting on and off on their way to someplace new. Go, try it, and see for yourself. I know I'll be back. read more

This place is also very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is simple very pleasant, especially for people who like watching the street: right in the middle of shaker square, situated right next to where the trains stop, this place practically IS the train station.
