I'm not surprised by the horrible reviews of this particular store. I had a bad experience with a cashier Michelle and the manager Daniel and Sergio. They treated me awful about a return and tried to jip me out of $10 and the cashier Michelle totally lied twice. The store is big and well stocked and everything, but anytime you need to find an associate to ask a question or to even get into the bathroom, they're nowhere to be found. It seems like they're always understaffed. It's a big store and sometimes things are grouped together in sections you wouldn't necessarily think would be together...hence questions need to be asked sometimes. Good luck trying to find someone to help you out! You can't get into the bathroom without an associate letting you in; so they have a button to push right by the bathrooms. That makes sense and all but after pushing the button, I waited almost 3 minutes and finally gave up and left because I didn't feel like going to the bathroom on their floor. read more

Love this location. It's fairly large, well-stocked and it's steps from Yogurtland! Demerits for awful parking (not enough parking spaces for such a large shopping center) and the fact that FOUR of their employees had no idea what a wood grain comb was. I found the perfect electric foam cutter that I needed and their online coupon for 40% off that tool was easy to use right from my smart phone. The store is what it is - lots of crafty stuff, very limited art supplies - my 6-year old likes it. Customer service is awful. I needed something out of a locked case, walked the entire store twice, and not a single employee on the floor. I asked a cashier, who used his radio, and then waited at the case for several minutes before giving up. Amazon it is. Also, no toilet paper in the bathroom. Insult to injury. read more

Because I love arts and crafts, this place was HEAVEN to me the first time I came to this location. I would give this store 5 stars for their wide selection, but -1 for the terribly long checkout line and lack of staff available around the store. The staff at the counter is usually friendly, but you can't get any help when you're trekking through the store looking for that one last thing you need for 20 minutes. I still love the amazing things you can find here, especially for DIY projects. I don't recommend coming during lunch time because parking is scarce. Definitely shop here if time permits! read more

Is there anywhere else besides Michaels for arts & craft supplies in the Tarzana area. I had a busy day today. Waiting in line wasn't fun. Usually I'm pretty patient but most of the time I go to Michaels there's only one lady at the register and she takes her time. Most of the time, they are really nice employees but sometimes I just can't get over who they hire. A few months back there was this young lady asking how much it would cost to frame a jersey. The guy at the frame counter responded, "I don't know". The guy stood there dumb founded. Now, I've had some jerseys framed for a gift at Aron Brothers and also at Michaels in Woodland Hills. It's not difficult. But this guy stood there and said, "I don't know how to do it." I told the lady how much I paid for it and suggested she called the Woodland Hills Michaels or just go to Aron Brothers (Which was more expensive but not by too much). He said he didn't have their number. She walked out. I was almost in shock. I wonder if they do any training at the store. Back to today. I was in line with 6 other people. I was 3rd in line and seemed like forever. Only after more people got in line did the customer service request help up front. This happens every time I go. But I go anyways because it still beats going all the way to Woodland Hills or Santa Monica. If you ever go and see a long line, just go up to the front and request them to bring in a second register. There's always someone cleaning up the isles. read more

I must have been there on an "Off" day. I walked into the store looking for a particular item but didn't know where it was so I looked around for a store employee. There were 2 employees at the register. I then went proceeded to walk around the whole store and went up and down each aisle looking for an employee. No luck. No employees to be found. I was in the store for almost an hour to no avail. I then tried to leave but the entrance would t let me so I had to brave a line of 11 or so to get out of the store. So much was bad about my visit that I don't think that I will be returning. Ever. read more

People that work here do not know what they're doing. Items are mislabeled and disorganized. Prices for items do not ring up as they are labeled in the aisles. Whenever you're looking for something it seems as though they never have it in stock. read more

While the location is good the parking sucks in this area. The store employees are very helpful and nice. Nice variety of merchandise at this location and I pretty much have been to them all in the Valley,and beyond. Had to go again today for more supplies and forgot my coupon from my last visit the nice cashier was able to help me and still Get me a discount YEA! LOVE employees who go the extra mile. Ok so 2 months ago I posted about having a magazine FRAMED ....when I come to pick, it up ...the frame was chipped and the magazine ,,,was wrinkled. So I get them a new magazine....so they said they would make right and get a new frame......been two months and looks the same. Even with bringing them a mint condition new magazine , they get a new frame and reframe wrinkled magazine..now they can't find the mint magazine to replace the wrinkled one..now it's to late to replace the magazine ..SO SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE...DONT EVER USE THEIR FRAMING DEPT read more

This Michael's location is pretty large, and finding parking is fairly easy because it is in a town center with other shops. The reason I took off some stars is because I called ahead of time to see if they had a certain size poster frame in stock. They told me over the phone that they did. I drove over there the next day and had to do some serious digging to find the frames, and when I did, they were all either broken or heavily scratched. I bought the frames anyways, because I did need them and I planned on spray painting them. After a couple weeks, I decided they weren't worth the price, so I returned them, completely unused. I thought they would give me a hard time returning them because they looked so beat up, but I let them know that's how they looked when i bought them, and they accepted the return. read more

Recently had a large photograph framed at MIchaels in Encino. While the staffing is terrific, unfortunately the framing was poorly done. I requested "D" rings for hanging, not a cord, which is what the "high end" framers put on heavy frames, however I was given a cord. In addition, the liner on the back of the piece was not centered and left buckled. This is the second time I've experienced inferior work from Michaels and would not recommend them or use them again. read more

Today just reminded me of why I strongly dislike this location. This location by far has the worst customer service I've ever experienced in a store period, not just Michaels. Today with my 11 month old daughter I stood near the bathroom door 5 minutes, rang the bell 4 times and NO ONE ever came. I went to the front, stopped the cashier who was NOT with a customer and said "Excuse me, does the bell for the restroom work?" She said "Yes."'I said "Oh, okay I was waiting 5 mi..." cuts me me off "You just have to wait." at this point I'm still confused and said "I rang the bell 4 times, and waited 5 minutes." She says "Yeah, it takes a while." At this point I'm furious, and disgusted and I guess she could tell by the look on my face she says "I can open it for you though." I responded "You don't have to if you don't want to!" Even writing this review I'm once again getting upset bc I cannot understand such behavior from an associate! Why are you attempting to argue with me girl? It's as simple as "Sometimes it takes a while, but I can open it for you!" You didn't even have to apologize! Had I not been persistent, she would have allowed me to go back and stand there and wait for someone to open the door. This store seriously needs to clean house! These associates clearly don't want to work there, and it's very apparent with how the store is ran! Terrible! It's a great store and all but the casheirs/workers are rude. Today I went to get a bath bomb set and the casier seemed annoyed of us. We weren't doing anything. She took about 20 minutes just to pay! I didn't catch her full name but all I know/ think it is, is that her name's junette or jen-something-ette. it started with a J and ended with a ette. DON'T GET YOUR FRAMING DONE HERE!!! It is 3 days before Christmas. I took a big personal Christmas present framing project in at the beginning of December and spent an hour waiting through a previous customer's order and then spent over an hour picking the mattes and layout. Seemed pricey but hey, it was a present. I was told to come back Dec 16 but didn't get by to pick it up until now. AND IT WASN'T DONE! The clerk told me the frame (a plain black slim square wood frame) was out of stock and didn't anyone phone me? No ANYONE didn't phone me. No apologies, no nothing. NO PRESENT! The most horrible customer service I have ever experienced. If I could give NO STARS I would... I went to ask one of your sales associates a question that was reading the paper in the framing department and I didn't even get a word out before he said "I am on my break and the framer is on lunch." I proceeded to ask him if there was anyone else that could help me and he stated "I have no idea. As I said I am on my break." So i decided to go to the cashier and ask her and he yells at me from across the store "What do you want me to do? Im on my break!" I asked the cashier and she told me the same thing "He is on his break..." I said "Ok does anyone else work here?" and she rolled her eyes and called over the radio for someone to help me. Please be careful when purchasing balloons at Michaels. I purchased some balloons for an adult event when each person was supposed to blow up their own balloon----but the balloons smell so horribly that they are toxic and no one wanted to even touch i!!!!!! These are the balloons with color and white polka dots imported from China. They are so toxic that even though I opened the bag to air them out the smell never went away-----I would suggest you never ever use these around children!!!!! I had to throw away the four bags of balloons and change my event because no one wanted to even "touch" them. SHAME ON YOU MICHAELS FOR SELLING SUCH TOXIC PRODUCTS read more

The worst store in the world! First it full of useless stuff, I am an artist and was never able to buy actual quality supplies, then the staff is super slow and dazed. I was very disappointed when I walked into the store and was treated like I was bothering an employee by asking a question. I was on my lunch looking for items to finish up getting items for my wedding and thought it would be easier to ask where the items were instead of walking around trying to find them. I will go back and get the employees name and report him to the manager but just didn't have the time since I was on my lunch hour. Plus they only had one check out person and ten people were standing in line. I have to say this store doesn't have what it takes to make your visit a pleasant one. This is why stores go out of business. Shame on management and shame on the employee for not doing his job. So so so disappointed. read more
