Today just reminded me of why I strongly dislike this location. This location by far has the worst customer service I've ever experienced in a store period, not just Michaels. Today with my 11 month old daughter I stood near the bathroom door 5 minutes, rang the bell 4 times and NO ONE ever came. I went to the front, stopped the cashier who was NOT with a customer and said "Excuse me, does the bell for the restroom work?" She said "Yes."'I said "Oh, okay I was waiting 5 mi..." cuts me me off "You just have to wait." at this point I'm still confused and said "I rang the bell 4 times, and waited 5 minutes." She says "Yeah, it takes a while." At this point I'm furious, and disgusted and I guess she could tell by the look on my face she says "I can open it for you though." I responded "You don't have to if you don't want to!" Even writing this review I'm once again getting upset bc I cannot understand such behavior from an associate! Why are you attempting to argue with me girl? It's as simple as "Sometimes it takes a while, but I can open it for you!" You didn't even have to apologize! Had I not been persistent, she would have allowed me to go back and stand there and wait for someone to open the door. This store seriously needs to clean house! These associates clearly don't want to work there, and it's very apparent with how the store is ran! Terrible! It's a great store and all but the casheirs/workers are rude. Today I went to get a bath bomb set and the casier seemed annoyed of us. We weren't doing anything. She took about 20 minutes just to pay! I didn't catch her full name but all I know/ think it is, is that her name's junette or jen-something-ette. it started with a J and ended with a ette. But u think the products work well and the store is great just beware of the rude employees! read more

I was very disappointed when I walked into the store and was treated like I was bothering an employee by asking a question. I was on my lunch looking for items to finish up getting items for my wedding and thought it would be easier to ask where the items were instead of walking around trying to find them. I will go back and get the employees name and report him to the manager but just didn't have the time since I was on my lunch hour. Plus they only had one check out person and ten people were standing in line. I have to say this store doesn't have what it takes to make your visit a pleasant one. This is why stores go out of business. Shame on management and shame on the employee for not doing his job. So so so disappointed. read more

The worst store in the world! First it full of useless stuff, I am an artist and was never able to buy actual quality supplies, then the staff is super slow and dazed. Maybe they are understaffed and workers are just exhausted, I don't know, but they are not helpful. Lastly, I wasted an hour looking for good deals to buy supplies for my kids kindergarten class, to finally go to pay and learn that those sale sings are no longer valid, they were just left hanging ?! Too lazy to take down? Trying to mislead customers? Don't know don't care! Won't ever go back again! read more

This store is much nicer than the old location that was in reseda. Good selection and lots of items on sale. Parking is a bit difficult at times, but it is free. read more

I told her "what if I don't have a computer" she says "we don't know the schedule"..huh???? Don't you offer the classes there, and you can't tell me the hours they are offered? Boo! MICHAEL'S CRAFT STORE in Encino!!! I walked out without being given $20 worth of my purchase. I called right away... 4 calls and a day later and they "reviewed" surveillance tape (which I am not allowed to see) only to conclude that I supposedly walked out with everything according to them. Why would I make up missing 12 of 18 frames I purchased and 2 bags of balloons? No offer to correct the issue even after talking to the General Manager. I hope the $20 was worth losing a loyal customer today! read more

I love arts and crafts etc. and it is soo much fun and Michaels is perfect for getting the supplies. But, for seasonal merchandise, they start selling it way too early and when it is that season, they stop selling the seasonal merchandise. Last week I went to Micheals expecting to find school supplies etc. and the whole place was decorated in fall and Halloween merchendise. They complexity stopped selling school stuff right when most school were starting which is a bummer because I love going to buy stuff from there. read more

i went to this michaels location and i was shocked. the bathroom was filthy! trash cans stuffed full, paper all over the floor, and fecal matter, yes fecal matter sprayed all over the toilet! there is no way that this bathroom gets cleaned according to the schedule on the door. it probably hasnt been cleaned in a few weeks. read more

Framing department. While the young lady who helped me pick out the frame/matting etc. was very nice, everything after that failed. Still don't have my framed item, going to be a week late, no correspondence from store, phones go unanswered in the framing department. Not cool. My fault though, the same thing happened to me at the Westlake Village, CA store last year for Christmas. SAME THING. read more

I won't come here ever again for framing. It took them three months to get my most recent order correct, and more attempts than I can count (three or four at least). The last two times the mistakes were made by the framing manager, despite the explicit directions noted on the reorder form. Do yourself a favor and use a local mom-and-pop store for framing. This place is expensive, the service is horrible, and the turnaround time is always two weeks or longer. Moreover, you must pay for your frame/mat up front, so you have no leverage if the order comes back wrong (like mine did, multiple times). I've found a framer that I love, with better quality materials, a faster turnaround time, and much more reasonable prices. read more

At last!!! Michael's has finally moved into a new location and is now, finally, a great looking store. And finally, there are employees who don't look like each day is their last day on earth and actually have an answer when I'm looking for something. One thing I don't understand, though, is that if Martha Stewart can talk about the craft of 'quilling' in her magazine and it has a big presence online, why doesn't Michael's carry anything at all to do with it? I would love to buy my quilling craft stuff at Michael's, but am forced to shop online. Other than that, the store is now, finally, great. read more

I just completed a needlework project and took it to Michaels for custom framing. My project is crewel embroidery on black linen. Not a run of the mill project for framing. It looks fantastic. First craft store I have seen with price checkers!! Gotta love this! Huge store. If you do beading or jewelry, this store has a gigantic selection. There is also an app now for michaels and you can just pull up the coupon on your phone and have it scanned. No more printing! They have several different types of carts (none of those long metal rods to keep them in the store). Staff has been friendly and very helpful each time I have been in. read more

I just called Michaels in Encino to schedule a birthday party for my daughter. Today is 9/17 and I asked for 10/12 but was told that date was not available. When I asked for 10/19, I was told I would have to call back on 10/1 to find out if that date is available. Really?!? I am going to wait until 10/1 to find out if the date I want is available? And what if it's not? I will have to scramble around to make another birthday plan. No thank you Michaels, I will plan my party elsewhere - there are plenty of places eager to take my money. Word of advice to the manager at this Michaels: Your event scheduling system does not make business sense. I am looking to plan an event at your location (an event that will make you money) but you tell me I have to wait for 2 weeks to even know if that event can happen?!? We go here frequently . The staff is exceptional. On one particular night we rode my motorcycle. The lock for our helmets wouldn't unlock them. So they were strapped together. The manager Sergio, not only didn't just dismiss us as he could have, but found a set of bolt cutters in the back. Thank you Sergio!!!! I am so happy that this Michael's moved to a better location. It was needed. Employees are helpful, but lack any sort of pep in their step. They know basic information, which is alright. They are helpful when you just need an opinion. Their aisles are somewhat clean but there is always a line. When I spoke to the manager about there always being a line, he replied with "We are always busy with many loyal customers". OK, I think these loyal customers need more employees staffed at every shift. I will surely call the next higher up manager. Go to BURBANK. Great employees there, and a manager who knows what he is doing. read more

I had an AWFUL experience at this store. I would give it zero stars if I could. As my two-year-old daughter was walking through the doorway yesterday afternoon, the sliding door closed on her. It appears the door, which was initially opened by another patron walking in, could not sense my toddler's 30-pound frame and began to close on her. I screamed as it neared her body, seeing the door's malfunction, and once it hit her it did not bounce off her immediately. The door forced her over to the door frame and after several moments of her screaming, finally released back open. I was horrified, and held my screaming daughter, whom I could not immediately tell if she was injured or just frightened. Once we both calmed down, we walked over to the register. I told the cashier that I wanted to file an incident report and explained what happened. I told him I was especially concerned because a lot of children walk in and out of these Michael's doors, and I thought there must be a mechanical problem with the door's sensors. The cashier did not inquire about my daughter or express any concern. He simply picked up his walkie-talkie and reported he had a customer who needed to file a report. I stepped to the side as motioned for the next customer and said, "Next." When another male worker came to take my report, I explained again what happened, and my concern for my daughter and other patrons. Again, he did not ask if my little girl standing next to me was ok, he simply looked annoyed that I was giving him any work to do. He coldly asked if there were marks on my daughter's body so loudly that she got frightened and started crying again. I answered his questions, but he didn't appear to even be writing anything down. My daughter was upset and potentially injured, I was being disrespected, and I doubted my report was even being taken properly. I left the store extremely disheartened and incredibly concerned. I contacted corporate through their website yesterday afternoon and have not heard anything back, but I am extremely disheartened by this experience. So many parents bring their kids to this craft store. How could their employees have no concern for their safety? I have been trying to spread the word to moms, especially, because this is not right. read more

I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo disappointed in this store! Not too long ago I went and purchased 3 large canvas letters and asked the doo-doo bird wearing the red vest if the paint that I chose would work because I have ZERO arts and crafts experience... she said yes so I continued my purchase, skipped home and started painting. 2/3 of the way of the FRONT of the letter I had gone through 1/2 of the little paint jar and it was very streaky. A couple days later went to the store to return it and was told that I couldn't returned used product. Well how am I supposed to know that I'm going to be dissatisfied before I use and/or open? That's not very nice Michaels. I've been going for a VERY VERY long time to that store... and now after that I will gladly drive all the way to Porter Ranch just to go to the big Jo-Anns... where their customer service is always on point, the employees are not bothered to help and actually seem to know what they are talking about! read more
