2 Saturdays in a row I was a Customer at this Michael's. Clearly the Staff would prefer to avoid Customer contact. They leave one cashier to encourage you to use self checkout. I prefer not to. Yesterday I was asking the clerk not to bend my scrapbook paper, she said she wasn't, though clearly my eyes saw clearl she was. I finally asked if she would just give me the paper directly. This pissed her off. The Manager came to the front and yelled for the long line of Customers to use self check out. The customer commented that the machine had an error code on it. No response. I repeated this to her directly. She said, I'll get to it and went the other way. If I had been in that back of the line I would have snorted my purchase. Now that Joann's is gone they assume they have upper hand. I am NOT a Karen but sure remember when customers were top priority. Not here. read more

This is absolutely the best Michaels store I have seen in the valley of the sun (Phoenix metro area). I used to like the one in Ahwatukee but after I moved to west valley I searched for Michaels stores near me. After one disappointing experience I stumbled upon this store. I was surprised to see how friendly and helpful their staff is. As an artist I really like their framing department. very helpful, efficient, and reasonably priced. They don't have as many products as I had seen in The AhwatuLee store. That store was good but I feel the service in the Bell Rd & 73rd Ave store is better. That's why I have recommended this store to my friends. read more

Aisles were neat and organized. Items were easy to find. It was easy to navigate through the store. Store associates were warm and friendly. We did not need any assistance, but it was nice to know the associates were available if we did. On a Monday morning, the store was not busy. There were only a couple of other customers. The shared parking lot offered plenty of parking. Michaels offers a rewards program. Earn points for every dollar spent. At the time I signed up, I received a $5 reward for doing so. Michael's in general have really tanked in my opinion. The customer service is horrible, you now have to check out yourself which I say you should give us a 20% discount because that's what employees are paid to do and now you're making your customers do it like Walmart. I just tried to return something that was on clearance unopened untouched with the receipt and I was told I couldn't return it because it was on clearance. I forced the issue and got the return but guess what Michael's you just lost a customer for life. read more

I mean, it's Michaels. Probably not my favorite location in the Valley simply due to the limited selection of everything. It's conveniently located though on Bell. Plenty of ample parking. Easy to get in and out of the parking lot with no major issues. My wife has been working a lot with yarn via loom and knitting with that method. We went to this location yesterday. She wasn't able to find anything she was looking for simply due to the limited selection of everything. I wanted a couple of new paint pens. Color selection was also extremely limited. We walked out with nothing. Wasted a trip. I think we as society are kind of in a catch-22 at the moment. Local businesses and our local economy want us to speak our money locally in our community. We need to stop ordering stuff online for sheer convenience. But the problem is these stores in our local community don't have anything in stock. The selection always blows goats. How can I spend money in our community when the businesses in our community don't have anything in stock? The businesses are losing business because more people are shopping online so they're keeping low overhead and low inventory which, in turn, causes shoppers like myself to continue resorting to online shopping - because nothing I want is ever at the store. I am so upset because I really love Michaels and will continue to shop here but this morning I went in with my daughter for her birthday and we got a few things she wanted and when I went to check out at self checkout I was excited to use my rewards that I had on my account when I selected yes I wanted to apply the cashier that was up there was SO RUDE and looked like she hated her job. She told me hold on someone else is coming which that took another 5 minutes I didn't mind waiting and when someone hadn't gotten there yet the Cashier that was up there finished with her customer I said very calmly and smiling I haven't scanned anything yet I can move over to you so you can help me she RUDELY said then why is it flashing for help and I said because I want to use my discount and she goes just press cancel and then WALKED AWAY! So when I completed scanning I ASSUMED it would of given me the discount because thats what she instructed and it did not. That womans attitude was so uncalled for especially for being a cashier in the front of the store I was so angry I didn't get her name or I would be reporting it. read more

The art framing department is not what you would expect. Firstly, if you look at the fine print, you will find that their liability is only $250. That means if you take a $1000 piece of art to have framed and they damage it, you will only get $250. Secondly, the store does not know how to float a piece of art on a board. Each time I have purchased framing services that include floating, The art has fallen off. that includes the piece that I purchased today. It fell off within one hour of taking it home.Thirdly,the frames that they sell have coatings on them that sometimes peel off. This has happened to me on more than five occasions. The lesson to be learned is do not go to Michael's to have any framing work done. spend the money and go to an expensive frame shop and hope they have a sale. read more

They get you in and out and I do appreciate the constant sales they have. 30% off fall decor was right up my alley. Only thing is I wish some of the employees were a bit nicer. I love shopping at Michaels stores for all my painting needs, HOWEVER, when I picked up my order today the chick that gave it to me told me I must wear a mask inside the store, I have asthma which the CDC clearly states people with breathing problems SHOULD NOT WEAR MASKS. So because I was born with a birth defect that has caused me multiple issues including loads of medical procedures, poking, prodding, needles, medications that are destroying my entire vascular system including my heart in order to keep BREATHING (something far too many of you take for granted) now you are telling me I cannot continue to enjoy my hobby that also makes me a considerable amount of $ to be able to afford the medications I NEED TO BREATHE so you can enforce some Nazi rule about wearing a mask that truly doesn't actually prevent an overly glorified flu? Maybe, just MAYBE you could take 2 minutes to do some research and see that children under 2, people with problems breathing (asthmatics!!!) and anyone who can not remove a mask on their own SHOULD NOT WEAR THEM. The entire world losing its mind is one thing but the fact that so many cannot even do the slightest amount of research to understand that not EVERYONE should be wearing masks is appalling. read more

I stopped in because I wanted to make some resin dog tags tonight and they wouldn't sell me the item that I pulled off of the shelf because it wasn't in the system yet, even though there was like 10 of them there. The employee was really nice but that wasn't the best customer service because instead of saying I can't sell you this product Because it's not in our system a better option would have been to figure out how to sell it to someone trying to spend their money at the store. Or even make any kind of effort to look like you were trying to sell it to me and that didn't happen so I will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

Dominica in framing is wonderful! Truth be told, every employee we came across was wonderful, but Dominica especially was fantastic. For some reason, one of the old paintings in our house decided it didn't like the wall it was hung on and fell to the floor. Thankfully the frame it was in didn't break and the painting itself was fine, but it popped out of the frame. We had no way of reattaching it, so at first we tried Joann's but they're having problems with their framing department, so we decided to head down the street and try this Michael's. Good thing we did. $21 to reinsert the painting into the frame and we were good to go. Dominica and everyone else was accommodating, patient, pleasant, and professional, even when the system they have to work with wasn't working correctly and was slowing everything down they all remained friendly and cheerful. Thank you for being opening during COVID! I've been in your store more times than I can count during this whole thing, and being able to shop for crafts to do with the kids at home has been the only thing keeping us all sane. Every time I've been in I've been able to find someone friendly and helpful. They require masks inside the store even if you have a medical exemption which shortens my trips and shopping sprees. They offered curbside pick up when everything was shut down so customers could still get things they needed. They still seem to have consistent stock of everything? I have not seen shortages or empty shelves anywhere, sales are still going on, and it's nice that a sense of normalcy was kept somewhere. They still brought in school supplies things and haven't drastically changed anything. They offer hand sanitizer by the doors and have someone wiping down carts for everyone. read more

It's Michaels so what do you say? Ha! I love crafting even though I am not very good at it. I give Michael's my business and not Joanne's usually. I lived closer to the location on Bell and 59th and loved that that store was so close to me. With that said, I like the new store too. It is much larger and has it all. The location closer to me was very small so it closed down and moved here. I give it three stars because three stars is good on Yelp and the store serves it's purpose. It is clean, new, and has a lot of stuff of course, since it is a larger store. It is very busy here. I have to say though I hate the new location. This area is ranked by statewide fact stats as being the busiest corner/areas in the entire state. It aggravates me to drive anywhere west on Bell but I guess a necessary evil. Luckily this strip mall is further east than all the other ten billion stores and strip malls in the Arrowhead area. There is never anyone walking around that I have ever seen when I have been here. I think it is because the store is too busy for that. All the workers are all on cashier. So know what you want ahead of time and be prepared for a wait if you need paint pens or anything in a locked cage. I have never had anyone be rude to me ever and they give a teacher discount with more ease and no hoop jumping like at Joanne's. Happy Crafting. read more

This location is new and it is pretty and quite clean because of the newness. However, the employees are RUDE! Two different visits and no more. One visit, I observed the cashier arguing with another customer about using a coupon. Really? So sad that untrained associates don't understand HOW to handle customers and resort to arguments, especially with a long ass line of other customers waiting to check out. We go here several times a month. My wife does crafts with my grandsons and this is a place to get crafts at a good price. I like going just to look around the store. There is a lot of crafts supplies, craft tools, Ideas for things you may be wanting to do. Also a great place to get frames pre-made ones or custom frames. Great place to buy your holiday supplies. It can be a little hard to sometimes find what you are looking for but there is usually someone from the store that fan help. read more

Called back...was told I wasn't hung up on then, hung up on again. Have over 20 minutes invested and still don't know the status of an order that was reported to have been picked up (that I did not pick up). I have shopped here many times. I recently bought a bunch of red frames online and one of them came BROKEN so i decided I would wait to go to return it and put up my other Christmas decorations (i.e. the other red frames I bought). When I finally come back to return they won't even take it. I can't believe these people. By this time I just wanted to exchange it for store credit. They wouldn't even do that. Went into this Michael's today just to return an item I purchased online. I can appreciate that all the staff are wearing mask and they have stickers on the floor to indicate where you should stand so we can social distance. All the things the state requires. However, this store could make more room for the customers while they are waiting for a cashier, if they really cared for the customers. Move the excess inventory into storage! They can also keep the line moving with a sense of urgency. It seemed as if the cashiers are working behind the counter not worried that customers are standing in line during this time of high virus transmission rate in the community! This Michael's is great... the lines are quick, there's always someone to help you, the manager Austin solves issues quickly. They closed the Michael's store that used to be on 59th/Bell and the lines were long, poor customer service, hard to find things... It's is completely different now. I love it. If you've ever done order pickup, it's so easy and quick here. If you've ever done it at Joann's down the street, it's a nightmare. Joann's makes you wait in their regular extremely long line while Michael's has you go straight to the framing section and simply press a button to pick up your order... no lines, no wait. The order pickup alone here makes me a loyal customer. I can shop from my computer, usually with better coupons, like 40% off your entire purchase. Then go to the store and it's all bagged up and ready for me without a wait. I wish Joann's would take a lesson from Michael's. I stopped shopping there just because of the lines. read more
