Great store and great location! I love that it is close to the freeway and it is easy to get to. This location is also close to home, making it my home base Michael's store. Every time I go here, I am able to find exactly what I'm looking for. Whenever I go in, I see the associates straightening up a display or restocking a shelf. I never see them stand idly around. This place is a little depressing, it always seems a little run down. I just feel the store has no flow, there are often empty spaces within aisles and the people that shop their are similar to Walmart crowd (me included!) The employees are usually really nice, and most of the time you find what you are looking for. Another bonus is you can often find on your smartphone or in the mail a %40 off coupon on 1 item! ONE OF MY FAVORITE MICHAEL'S STORES IN THE BAY AREA! No Joke! I'm a supper crafter and have been to almost all Michael's in the East Bay, South Bay and North Bay and hands down this one is a favorite! 1) They stock their items on a regular and if it's not there one week, the next week for sure it will be. 2) Always have a huge selection of Clarence items! 3) You can return seasonal items as long as you have a receipt. Other Michael's won't do this at all anymore. 4)Their staff is way more friendly & helpful than other Michael's I have been to. The younger one's don't seem to care, but I never bother approaching them for a question anyway. I'm familiar who the managers are and just ask them instead. 5) I only took a way a star because, my other favorite Michael's Coleman, stocks the new stuff first and doesn't seem to hit this location till maybe a month later or sometimes not at all. But still, most of my craft budget is spent at this location. I love this place! read more

The staff was somewhat friendly -- some knew what they were doing and some had no idea what you're talking about. What I found odd was there there was only one person working the cashier line. However this one staff member was very courteous! Especially this one guy named Chris! He was super helpful and I was able to get the product I needed! I called this place for some yarn one time.. they assured me they had it. I walked in and say hey I called about the yarn where will I find it. Just pointed "back corner" I walk back there. Search high and low. The yarn I asked for is not there. I walk back to the front and explain that. He goes nope I looked it's there. It's in the back corner. So I say can you seriously not just walk and show me then since you're so certain. So he does with a little attitude. Oh and the yarn wasn't there. They had sold out days prior. When I walked in I saw an employee right away. I told him what I needed and he said, "here, I'll show you" and walked me right to where I needed. WOW! This Michael's is so big! They had everything I was looking for and more! Customer service here is definitely lacking. I came in today to pick up a few things and I walked by/stood in the same aisle as 3 different employees. None of them acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. All I really expect is a dang "Hello" when I am shopping! I generally have a good experience with Michael's, but if it wasn't for the horrible customer service I had the past two days during my checkout I would've given them more stars. This particular young Filipina girl (Nicole) was so rude. Very sarcastic in every word that came outta her mouth and had a horrible immature attitude when I asked her to do me a favor and check other stores for an item. In fact for one of the items with her fake ass customer service voice she was like, "I highly doubt other stores would have this item cause it's in clearance" without checking (hella lazy). I brought a t-shirt in for custom express framing. It was a keepsake t-shirt my husband had for years and i wanted to have it framed for his birthday. I didn't think of the idea until 3 days before his birthday but Cindy in the custom framing department was such a great help. She was so patient with me as she showed me samples of different frames and as i changed my mind a few times. She had great ideas and suggestions and she made the whole process a really great experience. I was a little nervous how this t-shirt would fit in a frame and how it would end up looking but Cindy really made it happen and it turned out nicer than I could have ever expected! I even got teary eyed when i came to pick it up and she showed me how it turned out. My husband was really touched and he absolutely loved how it came out. He kept saying, this is just how I wanted it to look. Special thanks to Cindy in the Custom Framing department! You helped make this a very memorable birthday for my husband! read more

The most useless staff. I don't know if they're just being lazy or they think customers are stupid. Will never go to this one anymore. I went for copic markers. There are a few more of the cards that says "bring to the cashier" because the items cannot be displayed. Stayed in line, got to the cashier and was told I need to go back to the marker section to get the markers even when the cards specifically say "take this card to the cashier". Went back there and Leslie looked at us and said that the markers that we need (two types) are out of stock...without even checking anything. Why would they leave the cards there if they are out of stock. The cards are supposed to represent what they actually have. She said they were told to just make sure the cards are displayed even if it is out of stock. read more

Manager Ben on duty has been rude to me 2 times. First time I kindly asked him where the thumb tacks were. His response was short and with attitude and said........" The reason you cannot find them is because we don't carry them with." With as much sass and attitude ever. I said nothing because maybe he was just having a bad day. Second time I went to the store I asked him if I could use the restroom. He said that they were closed. 2 hrs before???? Your store closes at 10:00 pm per the holiday schedule, and according to Ally's Law anyone with a medical condition cannot be denied access. I have Chron's disease. So needless to say not only did I leave my shopping cart full of merchandise to run to the store next door, I never was able to make my purchase. 2 bad experiences with this guy. They had a bazillion different types of ribbons. Which caused me to have a minor melt down. But Shelley S was there to keep me focused on the task at hand. Buying bridal shower pariphanalia. Ultimatley it was kind of frustrating that they didn't have enough of certain things to get quite the look I wanted.....Then I realized that most of the favors will end up under the seat of someone's car, or in the trunk, or the bottom of a purse within an hour of when they leave the shower. We had a horrible experience in the framing department! Vicki could care less that we made a second visit for a custom frame and was not helpful at all! She didn't respect our price range, would not honor previous quotes, wasn't friendly, and was not customer centric whatsoever!!! For being a service store and service department, this was the worst experience at Michael's bar none! I wouldn't recommend their framing department, specifically their non-friendly employee Vicki. No greeting, no smiles, no courtesy, no manners, no service skills and I'm shocked that she is working there in a service friendly department store!! read more

I love the coupons in the mail, but I wouldn't come if I didn't have em. I did their Wilton cake decorating class, and the woman was very nice, but we didn't really have enough time to practice with the teacher and the "icing" recipe we had to use for every class is pretty much 75% shortening. Plus it's very expensive, (buying all the ingredients and the decorating tools you need) so I wouldn't recommend taking the class. Overall, the store is...A-OK. It's clean, and they recently re-organized the checkout line so it makes more sense to not-so-smart customers, and looks better. read more

Love doing crafts when I have spare time. This store is great. Has ribbon, baskets, frames, scapbooking needs, beads, paints, vases, fake flowers, books, classes. While here picking up some stuff to decorate tables for a few banquets, I remembered that I used to make ornaments for Christmas. Michael's is a great store to buy the basic art and scrapbooking supplies, but it doesn't always have the latest trends. Still, I love going to this store because it has so much selection!! From Xmas decorations to organizers, it offers competetive prices. Beware during their holiday sales though..they mail out 50% coupons that everyone and their mama seem to receive and come to use. If you're a crafty and artsy person, this is your second place away from home. I love finding supplies to create a costume, but the retailers are not really helpful with helping me find what I need. I asked two representatives for thin elastic and they had sent me to two wrong aisles. Wouldn't you find it annoying. Then this young lady that probably just started told me they sold fabric about 15 minutes later I discovered they didn't after walking all over the store. 5 stars for their Clearance section! Store seems to be more cleaned up and organized these past couple of months. And there seems to be more employees around, unless they stopped hiding somewhere. Whenever I see an employee they'll ask if I need help. Good job, Michaels! But, Lines TAKE FOREVER!! They usually only have 1 cashier and yeah, I know their lines are usually empty but once one person wants to check out... 4 others do too. I love Michael's sales...and if you want to purchase something not on sale they always have a coupon available. It is so worth it to get the App...suggest you download it. But what I love most about Michael's? They let me bring my dog inside. They may not be as cheap as your local discount store but they do sell almost everything. I came here to grab some jewelry making supplies and came home with so much stuff. Came to Michaels to get an idea of some wedding DIY things they have there. I was really wanting to check out their invitations and a wedding planning book or two. I wasn't overly impressed but since there isn't many book stores around anymore I can't really complain. They had several kits and things that gave me TONS of ideas but there wasn't anyone around to answer any questions. That was probably the biggest bummer, not to mention a lot of stock seemed to be missing (maybe they sold it all and I went to a bad day?). I had the most horrible shopping experience at this store. I had to get a few more items since they were on sale at 50% off. I had to wait in line for 15 to 20 minutes just to pay for my purchases. After paying for them, I noticed that none of the items I paid for were 50% off. I went back to the cashier, told her about my problem and she told me to get in line again. What kind of customer service was that? I asked for the manager, and here comes Erica, yeah that famous person here at Yelp! Another person complained about her. She didnt listen to me and she asked me to show her where I got the beads. After showing her, she told me to follow her to the cashier. It took her 30 minutes to figure how to correct the discount. She was wondering how come it was ringing 30-40% off instead of 50% as advertised. Imagine, the manager is wondering? She doesn't know? The sale ends today, now I wonder how many people got defrauded by this store! What kind of manager is she? Michaels should fire her pronto! She's not a good manager. She doesnt even have good customer service skills, she was rude, not apologetic to the store's error. What's more, after she corrected my purchases, she overcharged me again! So I had to wait another 15-20 minutes. This store should close. I'm reporting it to the Better Business Bureau for false advertisement. They're clearly committing fraud and who knows for how long. As long as that Erica stays a manager, that store will go down with her. She's bad news! I finally got out after 2 wasted hours with a big headache and high blood pressure after the treatment I got from them. I will not step inside that horrible store again. I love this place! Everytime i Wall in i feel like a kid in a candy store. They have everything I need everytime and the few times that they didn't they made sure they located it for me. I even took some cake decorating classes here and they help me develope my craft further. I really enjoyed the classes and I enjoy creating wonderful cakes with the beautiful things I learned to do. read more

Went to the framing dept to get a piece of artwork framed. I told her I wanted something reasonable and not too expensive. Mary showed me different frames and mat combinations. She explained the differences between the frames on the shelves and what she was offering. I ended up buying the custom frame as this artwork had been in my family for years. From the reviews on here saying that customer service is bad, it's not SO bad. I had called to ask if they had "shiny" or "metallic" tissue paper and they still knew what I was talking about. They put me on hold for 2 minutes or so to send a "runner" to check the floor. They said they did have some in stock but I would have to come in to check them out since they didn't know exactly what I was looking for, which was fair. I came in and I had no idea where the tissue paper was so I asked a young Filipino girl who was in the floral arrangement section where it was. She was pretty rude about it and just said aisle 58. I think her name was Nicole. I went to that aisle and there wasn't any shiny teal tissue paper. I went and showed her the red shiny one and asked if they had a blue or green one. She just stood there and said "If it's there it would be around the red one". She didn't care to even check the aisle or the back or if there was any in stock. I went to the cashier and asked if they had any. She actually checked for me and it said they had 9 in stock. Her name was Joyce. I would've stopped there but she went WAY out of her way and used a ladder to check the boxes above all the shelves. She dug through the boxes trying to find ONE. I headed to Michaels last weekend to pick up some bags, and they were all sold out. Not a big deal, the fact that there is a Michaels in that shopping center is a good thing. But seriously that place was so unorganized. They had four people up at the front of the store and only two were ringing up customers. One of the workers told me to go get rung up on the other side of the store. I get out of my second place in line and go over and there is a line over there, 5 people deep. I don't get it, I walked back to the girl that told me to switch lines and told her there is already a line over there why would you send me over there? She didn't say one word to me and just ignored me. What the hell, am I talking to myslef? So I apologize to the people in my old line since I am not giving up my old spot in line after being told to move. And one older lady told me to get at the end of the line. What does the worker do that started all this BS? NOTHING! I get rung up and the poor lady ringing me up is sweating because she is trying to ring up people fast since the lines were so long and the girl next to her that told me to move lines?
