This place is awesome! We ordered a handful of sushi rolls and miso soup, everything was nice and fresh and the presentation was excellent. Lovely atmosphere with lots of beautiful bamboo throughout. Very friendly staff as well, they even gave us ice cream on the house! I do agree with other reviewers that it was on the pricey side. However we were happy to support a new restaurant in the neighborhood. Their portions are also pretty generous and we left quite full, which isn't always the case at sushi restaurants. The inside is very well decorated and I loved the ceramic dishes they serve the food on. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. I had the lunch special (two rolls and miso soup) which I thought was a fair price that left me satiated. The chef also brought out a complimentary appetizer that was a lovely surprise. Wow wow wow. I am seriously so happy MiChi has come to Tigard. You will not find better sushi/Japanese cuisine in Oregon period. Honestly I think you'll have a hard time finding any restaurant with the quality / freshness MiChi consistently delivers on. Just from the first bite you can tell everything is extremely fresh and prepared with the highest quality of ingredients and attention to detail. I have tried a variety of dishes here already and think I plan on trying everything on the menu. Never have I ever truly wanted to try every single thing on a restaurants menu before. Takoyaki- I tried this for the first time in my life at mugen noodle bar down the street. It was ok, but nothing I would of ordered again. I went here with my mom and she wanted to try them, they were DELICIOUS. One of the best things I have ever tasted. Completely different in every aspect from what I tried from a different establishment. teriyaki steak- this dish is truly an experience, with the best cut of beef I have ever had in a teriyaki steak dish combined with a perfect rare cook and homemade teriyaki sauce this dish is AMAZING a huge portion and I love how it's served on a cast iron shovel head... very cute touch. Chicken yakisoba, again, everything being homemade so this isn't going to taste like any yakisoba you have ever had. Noodles are crunchy but still have a delicious chew to them, chicken juicy and well seasoned. Akami nigiri - WOW WOW WOW truly the BEST sushi I have ever had in my life... the fish is the best quality I have ever had the chance to enjoy. I could eat this as every meal for the rest of my life. There is a reason the sushi is "pricy", to be frank, for the quality you are receiving it's very fair priced if not a good deal. The fish here is truly an experience you won't get anywhere else. I can't wait to get a hot date and try the omakase with her :). While eating this sushi it truly takes you out of this world and is a rollercoaster of flavor... never have I made so many enjoyment noises while eating... You can't go wrong with anything you order here. You really cant, order with confidence. Service is solid as well, for a newer restaurant I am floored by how Efficient and smooth they are operating. The service here definitely matches the food. My server Minyi is 10/10. Has great recommendations is very soft spoken nice and attentive. If your debating on coming here or not, just go. This was the first time my husband and I tried MiChi Japan and had a good experience. Upon arrival, the first thing you'll notice is the ambiance. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very welcoming and brightened by the light wood fixtures, and small white lights hanging from the ceiling. We were greeted by a friendly server and sat promptly. It was a Sunday evening so it wasn't too busy. The menu offered a good array of food to choose from. For some reason, they said they weren't serving alcohol when we were there (6pm). I'm not sure if it was they just didn't serve alcohol on that day of the week or if they were out, they didn't say. The food was good but the portions were on the smaller side and they didn't serve all the food at once. This is always unfortunate because you don't want to hold someone up from eating but then they're half way done eating by the time you get your meal. The tempura rolls take a very long time to get, it was well over 20 minutes after all the rolls were served before it came. I think they may have forgotten about it but am not sure. I finally asked if we could just cancel the roll because we were ready to leave. They apologized and boxed it up for us as we were leaving and didn't end up charging us for it so that was nice but because it was tempura, by the time we got home, it was pretty soggy. Overall though, the service was nice, the place was clean and the food was good. Definitely worth a try! read more

Hubby and I are so happy that this gem came to Tigard. I had the lobster ramen and he had chicken curry ramen. Both broths were delicious and very flavorful. Lots of noodles and my lobster tail was a good size. We also had the best salmon skin salad I've ever had and the delicious Michi roll. It was more food than we needed but wanted to try a few things. Food is pretty good, but nothing amazing. We tried the calamari, yellowtail roll, avocado salad, tuna belly roll, California roll, and Alaska roll. They were all good, not particularly impressive. The last time I got the small sashimi plate, they just put the cheapest fish like salmon/tuna/hamachi/albacore, and albacore tasted pretty old so I spit it back out. The price isn't that cheap either I dined in couple of times and each time I spent $200 for two. Good ramen but COLD restaurant! Went on Christmas eve based on the good reviews of the restaurant and the ramen. The ramen did not disappoint. Lobster ramen had a nice flavor and a big lobster tail that was served in a split-shell. This was a great way to show you how much lobster you were getting but great for the eating experience when you are given a pair of chop sticks and 1 napkin. (Extra napkins were provided when requested.) For me, the lobster ramen would have been better served with chunks of lobster mean in the broth. But, others will like it better as is. The tonkotsu ramen was great. Very flavorful broth and the pork was perfectly cooked and delicious. At half the price, if I ever go back I will just get an extra tonkotsu over the lobster. I said if I ever go back because the restaurant was COLD. We sat in a booth a little away from the front door but it felt like the cold was coming down from the ceiling and we go an extra blast every time the door opened. The temperature was more noticeable because the ramen took a while to be served. At most ramen restaurants where I order ramen, it is usually a dish that is served rather quickly, since the broth is prepared well in advance. MiChi was so cold inside and the ramen took so long to be served that we were about to cancel the order and leave - right before the soup was served. read more

While it was clean with a nice setup, the food was not worth the cost. appetizer: Tempura shrimp This included 2 TINY pieces of fried shrimp and 3-4 pieces of fried vegetables. If you think I'm exaggerating just go there and see for yourself. It was laughable that this cost $12 when in reality it's true value was maybe stretching $2. Main dish: Chicken ramen For my main dish I had the chicken ramen. The noodles were good, but the chicken tasted like the lowest grade you could get. It was chewy, fatty, and nothing I'd like to have again. All in all it cost me nearly $40 for this food (just for myself to have an appetizer + one meal). Food is good as is the service and ambience. Though I only have done takeout. The pricing is high so docking 1 star for that. Some of the lunch meals are a bit better of a value, but most of the sushi is the same price or more than bamboo or Yuubi, but does not match the quality of these Beaverton sushi restaurants. Either way this is a great addition to the whole foods area. Before we had a burgerville here, so a huge step up. I came here for the first time for dinner yesterday and went back for lunch today that's how amazing this place was!! I eat a lot of sushi and it is by far the best sushi I've ever had in my life! The service was amazing, every employee was so kind and the chef personally came to say hello to me since they recognized me from the day before. This was also the first time I had real authentic ramen and it was so incredible. I couldn't have better things to say about this place! We were gifted free appetizers and personally welcomed by the owner and chef. The food was delicious, and prepared in the traditional way. I'm really excited to have MiChi Japan in Tigard. The server was attentive and checked back in often. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen which comes with a fried onion topping. I like my tonkatsu to lead with the star, the pork. This version led with the onion, and was 4/5 stars in for my taste . I probably could've doctored it up with a condiment, but I wanted to know what the base recipe tasted like. It was full of flavor, great broth, just the right amount of toppings. I couldn't finish the whole thing, so good portion size. I had hot tea to drink, which was lovely because MiChi Japan actually offers loose leaf tea! Yum!!My only issue here was that I don't prefer texture to my tea. Some people do, it's just not my thing. So be warned, no strainer in the pot. Just let the tea leaves settle and you're all good. Easy fix. Ambiance was very nice. It's a clean space with light music in the background. I will come back for sure because they have a spicy pork on the menu calling my name! read more

It's a bit pricey but the fall in love roll is so unique and addicting. It's worth it! I have only gotten DoorDash so I can't imagine how everything is in person. I love that roll, the salmon avocado roll is a great basic, and the salmon sake nigiri is delicious. I'll preface this by saying that I'm visiting from California, where I've been spoiled between the Bay and LA with amazing asian food my whole life. I'm always skeptical going out for Asian food in Oregon; that being said, the food here was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by the Tonkotsu ramen; its very rare that I find a ramen that I enjoy so much outside of specialty shops, and this one was perfectly balanced with a deep flavor without being too heavy. We also got a smattering of rolls, the standout one being the amazing tuna roll. Service was pleasant, food came out quick (we were there at 4:30pm though, so it wasn't busy), and the water tasted super clean. We'll definitely be back every time we visit now! read more

We tried this place out for lunch. Husband ordered the lunch set with 2 rolls (negihama roll and salmon skin roll) and miso soup for $15. I got the Lemon Tree roll and Sea Hawks roll which were a lot more pricy (I think almost $20 each). The two rolls that came with my husband's lunch set were fresh and delicious. My lemon tree roll was good, but I didn't like the Sea Hawks roll (the flavor felt off, too much fatty fish inside, would have tasted better with something crunchy added in the middle). I wish they used real wasabi instead of the obviously artificial wasabi. Their miso soup was pretty good, flavor without being too salty. Ambience was good, inside was clean with cute minimalist decor. Overall, we would go back again for the sushi lunch set. read more
