Really the only spot for food down by the gates accept a bagel place. It is a neat little venue with a very open area for seating and a full bar. They serve micro brews and supposedly craft cocktails... I didn't have alcohol... maybe I should have. The menu shows upscale selections however the service was poor and in the end the food sub par. The waiter kept coming over and interrupting while I was obviously on the phone! At least three times he came to the table and asked if I was ready when I obviously wasn't! Once he even proceeded to tap the menu while I was waving him off... very very rude! Then at the end of the meal he never even brought the bill. I had to finally flag him down and just give him my card without ever knowing what the total was. Typical airport food... very pricey. The food was "eh"... combinations that were supposed to be "trendy" and upscale, but once prepared and served were anything but upscale. It was obvious to me that this location could stand some competition! Then just maybe they might get to what they are trying to be... but for now... they are the only game in the terminal unless you want to walk back to the security area. Michelle was my server. I questioned my chicken salad being deep fried and was immediately mocked and told that I was stupid loud in front the other customers. She wqs more interested to make an alpha point about her show of dominance than help her customer. Apparently the chicken was put on a frier with all the other nasty burnt oils here, just as I suspected. My grilled chicken Cesar salad had fried chicken. But hey your ego is more important than my experience. As if I don't known the look, taste and smell of fried chicken. As I proceeded to finish my experience here, Michelle decided to help every other customer making me wait. There's not a whole lot of options in this terminal and luckily this turned out to a pretty tasty option. The bartender was a jolly guy who was having a good time, making jokes and going a little above and beyond. Small menu but solid. We split the meat lover's pizza. Depending how hungry you are, 1 order per person. I was filling up with delicious beer so the size was fine by me to share it. His friend chomped down on a burger and fries, no complaints there. Great beer listed with a handful of locals pointed out. Lots of different seating options- at the bar, at a booth, tall top tables with some under a skylight. There was a wait on a Thursday night, and we were in the bagel shop next door. I asked a female bartender working at the Tap Room if I could order food to go, in which he told me you have to walk up to the bar. The female bartender attacked me even before I had a chance to speak and said I AM HELPING A TON OF OTHER PEOPLE THERE IS A WAIT. To which I said ok I'm trying to just order food to go. She then preceded with THANK YOU BYE BYE. It was so bizarre, and everyone heard because she was saying it at the top of her lungs. I have never been treated that way for asking for food to go. LOL. My boyfriend and I decided to get to the airport really early, and we must have hung out at this place for like 2 hours. Our server was spot on, always checking on us and making sure we didn't need anything. We got the pork nachos, and a couple of beers, and I was very pleasantly surprised with our food and service. Options are pretty limited after security at GRR. That said, this is probably the best of what's there. Staff is friendly and does a good job of keeping up with a pretty large amount of seating. Food menu is limited pub grub with a solid selection of microbrews on tap. If you are in a hurry the staff can help speed things up if you loop them in. There are some faster to prepare food options and they can take care of the check when they drop the food. Personally I think the old Bells pub had better food, but happy to see they kept a pub post remodel. read more

My flight has been delayed going into Austin out of Gerald Ford Airport so I decided to grab a drink. This was the closest to my gate or gate B8 for American Airlines. So I needed a stiff beer my beer of choice is a stout they happen to have a stout called The Poet made by New Holland. I tried it ... was not bad actually tried it again so that tells you the story right away. So I paid so I wouldn't get arrested and miss my flight. Not many options in the Grand Rapids airport and this was severely overpriced for a very limited menu. If there was a better option I would have taken it. Food was meh at best. Service was decent though, which is why I have it two stars rather than one. read more

Can I give 0 stars?! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE. Actually service isn't even a word when it comes to this place. I understand being short staffed, but you should still be acknowledging customers even if you cant be with them right away.we literally had to bus our own table and then even after that I asked the waitress if she could come by as we only wanted to get drinks...her response was that I should "try the bar since I only want drinks". Service sucked. The 2 guys running the place acted like divas when we asked them if they could change the channel to sports on a very slow Sunday afternoon. Both kept gossiping to eachother about their uninterest in the The game so other customers and ourselves could here. Never once did they check to see if we needed anything, food or drink, also purposely made us wait for the bill. Customer service is key and they lack this miserably. I travel every week. And there are a lot of great people that work here and provide great service. But I will say there are a core of people that have zero clue or desire to provide good service. Specifically a few that seem to make you feel lucky if they serve you. They are loud, arrogant and inconsistent. Again there are many who provide great service. But I am sitting here now and they are disorganized, arrogant and really not here to serve. Disappointing as they taint the view of all the good ones who work there. The food was surprisingly good for an airport (black bean and feta burger and French fries). The service was great. There were only two guys serving the whole restaurant, and the place was packed. They were hustling and kept good attitudes. My only critique... For a place called Tap Room, I would expect more than four beers on draft. I'd love to see an interesting Pilsner or lager on draft.
