This is my favorite store by far. I love this store, I can explore and check out anything that has recently came out. The prices aren't bad too. There are always deals, just check online. You can also order for pickup which is great. I've gotten many of my computer parts here. I've also gotten many client computer parts here. I would recommend you to go here if it's your first time building a computer and you don't know what parts to choose, these people will guide you. The employees are very nice and willing to help. Confusing layout, despite having humongous signs. No staff to be reached. I felt boneheaded when I was standing behind a couple by the Knowledge bar. For some strange reason, I assumed that the knowledge bar was the checkout counter as well. This went on for a good five minutes of my life, which I may never retrieve. Very excited this store finally opened up in the area! No more driving all the way to LI! The location that it's in is perfect. It's by the Gowanus and by a bunch of warehouses. What a great use of space and a perfect location for Micro Center! There is a big parking lot and the store is pretty big. The air condition was not working the day I went so I hope they will have AC in the future, especially during the upcoming summer. My review gets one less star because I asked one of the computer guys working there how they got the list to mail out the $20 tablet coupons to and the two people that I asked weren't very nice when I asked. It's not like I was asking them to give me a coupon. If you are going to have promos like that, you can bet people will ask about the coupon. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get a coupon. Everyone on line had a tablet in their hand. I was buying something else and the line took forever for me to pay. The no AC factor didn't help either. What a scam this place is running. I thought their technicians were supposed to be knowledgable of every facet of a computer, apparently not. They wanted to charge me $1200 to fix my screen, "undetected hard drive," and recover my data- for a MacBook Pro that's worth about a grand to begin with. Thankfully I went with my gut on this one and I didn't through Micro Center. I took my computer into the Genius Bar at Apple in SoHo soon thereafter. And you'll never guess what! Apple fixed a small cable inside my computer (all of my data was still on my laptop) and replaced my screen THE SAME DAY FOR $350. From $1200 to $350... screw Micro Center. I will never ever go back to that place again. Scam. read more

1 star for a Micro Ceter finally moving into Brooklyn. 0 stars for their customer service and their cashiers that put almost $2,000 on hold on my cards that they couldn't remove since they don't know how to work the register. I visited the Brooklyn Micro Center on a Monday at around 6 PM with my boyfriend to purchase a laptop they had on sale for my dad. There wasn't a lot of staff on the floor so I had to wait a while to get someone to help me. During this wait time my boyfriend decided to also pick up a Macbook Air that was on sale. When we finally got helped after the wait the sales person was nice and helped us with everything. The sales manager Dan also came up to us several times to apologize for the long wait which I thought was excellent customer service and had redeemed the wait time but I had no idea what I was in store for in the next hour. When we went to check out with our stuff we were met with an exceptionally long and was reaching into the store. I was informed by the employee helping us it was because almost everyone in the line was purchasing $20 tablets because the store was having a sale. Turns out with a special like this Micro Center only had 2 registers opened which seems like really poor planning to me. If you have a new store and are running a special to get people to come into the store wouldn't you want customers to have a great experience? Not leave thinking, wow I got this great deal on the tablet but I had to wait in such a long line for it not to mention the regular customers not purchasing the tablet. The wait in line was over 20 minutes to purchase the merchandise. While we were approaching the front of the line one of the other managers overheard me expressing my frustration to my boyfriend in having to wait almost 20 minutes in line to purchase $2,000 worth of merchandise. At this point instead of apologizing for the wait he butted in to tell me there was nothing they could do they only had 2 cashiers and people had to leave because they were sick etc etc and made several other excuses. All while he stood there doing nothing and just watching the line. Finally we got up to the register to checkout our transaction. The initial checkout process itself took over 5 minutes because we had a person that did not know how to run the register checking us out. While she was very nice she had to stop several times to ask the manager questions and originally mischarged us for one of the items. Finally it was time for me to swipe my card which I did but at this point she had misrung one of the Microsoft Office gift cards so it had not been activated. This caused the transaction to error out in the register. Instead of waiting for someone to come over to help her she backed out of the transaction to do the whole thing again. However since my card had already been swiped the $2,000 total had already been put on hold with my card to get the hold off my card I had to call my credit card company. At this point another manager came over to help. He proceeded to tell me they couldn't refund me the money because they hadn't taken it and seemed to be accusing me of doing something wrong. Like I was making it up about the money being on hold because their employee didn't know how to run the register. The only way to get the money off hold at this point was to call my credit card company which I begrudgingly did because I had come all the way out here and at this point just wanted to get my stuff. I called the company who was willing to release the charge but they had to call and speak to someone in the store. Great! I thought only to be informed by a manager that could barely give me the time of day that Microcenter in Brooklyn has no phone. If the credit card company attempts to call the store they get the headquarter office and there's no way to reach the store specifically to get the charge released. It took over a week for the charge to finally be released off my card. At this point I hadn't received one apology for the whole check out situation and since I was pretty much fed up and it didn't seem like anyone really wanted to help me we just decided to leave without purchasing anything. As I was walking out I saw the line had only grown in length through the store. I was barely even acknowledged as I was leaving. This was a highly disappointing experience for me. I was really excited to have a Micro Center in Brooklyn since a trip all the way out to Westbury isn't really that close to Brooklyn and that had always stopped me from purchasing from Micro Center in the past. When I came into the store at first I thought it was awesome. A lot of space seemed like it would be great for Brooklyn. I understood they were still working out some kinks in the wait to get my merchandise and things like that but I can't excuse what happened to me at the register. read more

I went to get my MacBook repaired and as of today I haven't heard anything from the repair tech. I called the store and they said that the technician will get back to me and he never did. I'm getting really frustrated and I will most likely go to this store to retrieve my laptop and take it somewhere else to get it serviced. I paid 43 dollars for a diagnostic and they guaranteed a 1-4 day time period to get it done, but they can't even update you. If they are backed up, then they need to be professional and tell the truth. Stop lying to your customers. Based on the lazy and poor communication alone, I wouldn't recommend this place, even though it's Apple Certified. read more

Came here over a year ago to get my laptop repaired, though I thought it was worth leaving a review. Waitline for the bar fluctuates depending if the people ahead of you want to be difficult or not, whole visit should be quick though if you're not one of these people. I had gone to another repair store in Manhattan before this place and experienced horrible service that ended in a month of waiting and no diagnosis beyond "can't be done." By comparison the microcenter was awesome, even though ultimately my laptop couldn't be fixed (something in several places were burnt and they explained replacing all the parts would cost more than the laptop was worth). When I came there to pick up, the supervisor came out and everything to shake my hand and apologize even though it wasn't anyone's fault, and even offered a discount if I wanted to buy a new laptop from them. Luckily all my data was able to be backed up to an external hard drive, which they did for me right away for something around 170$ including the 1tb drive. I can't remember how much it cost just for the diagnosis, though it couldn't have been much (or maybe anything at all?). The whole process took about a week longer than expected, though they updated me every step of the way with online updates, and even gave me a call when it was ready to get picked up. Definitely would come back for future tech problems, so glad there are smart professionals with excellent customer service out there! read more

A godsend for PC enthusiasts. Yes, it gets crowded sometimes and you need to wait, but the people are nice and knowledgeable. Best to go on off hours. Lots of parking. Most of the staff is knowledgeable but the Knowledge Bar was beyond horrible. I bought a desktop PowerSpec PC with a SSD and separately extra Internal Hard Drive and asked Knowledge Bar department to install it inside the PC. After waiting 1 hour they brought the closed box with PC and I went home. I opened up the box at home to see the PC and noticed a lot of noise inside the PC while I unpack it. I opened the side panel of computer and saw both hard drives hanging on the wires without any support, without being attached to the metal hardware walls of computer. So all that means that they could not properly install the extra Internal Hard Drive but also detached the existing Solid State Drive inside the computer. Only insane or totally irresponsible people could do that much damage. read more

I was trying to walk in 3 mins after 9 which is after they closed the door and the usually never allow costumers after closing hours, however the security guard on the door was very polite to ask the manager to let me make a quick bye, manager comes in and I have explained to him how important the item Iam trying to buy for work. Hey was very understanding and helped me out getting what I needed in the middle of thousands of items they got in there, over all I was very satisfied with the service and how polite and understanding their team is, definitely goin back in case I needed electronics. read more

After having researched the internet where to get a certain cable I found that it was stocked at Micro Center. Just to make sure I also made sure to call them before I went there and they confirmed that they had that actual cable. First of all I have to say that the store has a lot of different departments - however the one with all the cables was a MESS. I tried to look for the cable and was approached by one employee who offered to help, but even he couldn't find the cable and didn't really seem to know - "Yeah maybe we don't have that cable" he said. I told him that I checked online and called ahead but his reply was something like "um, yeah I don't know, maybe you can check the apple aisle" - Ok, so I went there and was approached by another employee who was trying to look through their messy shelf with cables. He did not find the cable I was looking for and said "Well maybe we don't have it". Again I repeated myself and told him that the store should carry the item since I checked the stock online and his response was "Well maybe if we just carry one item that item might not be here". No you fool! That wasn't even what I said! He touched some of the cables and mumbles something in the style of "yeah, I don't know this is what we have" and then he just left. I thought that maybe he left to ask someone about the cable, check their back of house or the computer at least for it, but no: HE JUST LEFT! So rude! After looking for the cable for another 5 minutes I found it. Without any help from the employees. On the positive note - the cashier was very friendly and had at least some customer service. And there is a huge parking lot outside. Probably won't come back here again. Just not worth my time - might as well order my stuff online. read more

Just like Michael H, I've been building computers for decades (damn I'm getting old). Microcenter moving into Brooklyn was a blessing as I'm always upgrading or replacing something in my house. I've been here a few times since opening day and things just get better. The store is big and fairly easy to navigate. Friendly staff helps you if you're looking for something specific. Lots of great parts and accessories that aren't easy to find. They price matched Amazon on a SSD I recently purchased without any hassle. Sometimes checking out can take a while (especially when they run $20 tablet promotions) but overall, it was quick. Huge parking lot and subway nearby makes this a tech paradise. A Samsung Tablet that had gone on sale on November 25th was not available anywhere in the store(s) or online by the 27th and oh, yeah we can sell you the beaten up floor model but you must include the extended warranty even if we can't offer a box, stylus or charger. Due to a friend's recommendation I went to this amazing place. I purchased basic necessities​, a phone charger USB and a wall charger. The price was phenomenal AND the electronics are superb!!! I was catching a flight for work last week and decided to quickly pop into Micro Center to get a video card. There was a group of guys ahead of me. Stephen the sales rep was helping these guys first. He retrieved their video cards for them and I guess ushered them towards the cashier to pay. On his way back from helping those guys, I asked him if he'd be able to retrieve a video card for me(they're locked up). As we were walking to the back, where the video cards were, he asked me what I planned on using it for. I told him live streaming and apparently he didn't like my answer. He aggressively told me I don't need need this for live streaming and then accused me of purchasing for someone else. I was completely confused by what the heck he was saying or why he was acting this way with me.. he then began to ask me about my CPU and I asked him why am I being interrogated?. He replied,"we aren't in a dark room so this isn't an interrogation. Okkk...He then condescendingly began to tell me that he knows I have no clue about computers and I have no business buying this video card. He began walking 4feet ahead of me towards the register (which mind you is a long walk)and loudly continued his line of questioning. He wanted to know what I was live streaming, what kind of computer I have, what I did for work. I mentally shut down and told him it was none of his business. At this point, I was embarrassed at everyone staring at us. He then slams the video card down at the register and tells the Cashier, "make sure you give her a full background check!" and walks away. What does that even mean???? The cashier looks at me confused and sees that I'm visibly upset. The cashier calmed me down and told me that about 3hrs ago a group of kids came in and wanted to buy video cards and it was apparently a hot commodity so they were limiting them. I told the cashier that it's not my problem and that has nothing to do with me and doesn't justify why Stephen was treating me so grossly. I told cashier I saw Stephen helping a group of guys in front of me and did not see him act aggressively towards them or give them the third degree. Is he treating me this way because I'm lacking male genitalia and therefore couldn't possibly know anything about computers? Why was I singled out? Why didn't he treat those guys that way. Why was he biased towards me?. What did I do to provoke him? The cashier was really wonderful and helped to calm me down because I was on the verge of tears. This experience left me shaking because I really felt like Stephen was treating me like some kind of thief or a liar. The WORST part of this whole ordeal was I still proceeded with the $1000 purchase after being treated this way. I really was in a state of shock and just wanted to run out of there. I came in expecting to quickly purchase a video card and be on my way instead I left humiliated, embarrassed and feeling completely powerless. Never ever will I return or let another human being unjustly treat me in this manner. My business is obviously not wanted or valued by the Micro Center. read more

Very satisfied with my first experience with Micro Center. I took in my MacBook to check out a horrible sound it was making. Turns out a pebble somehow got lodged in the fan (wtf?). The repair was covered under the $40 diagnostic fee, and my laptop is working just fine now. Also impressed that the manager came out, introduced himself, and shook my hand. Felt very much that they really were working for my business. While I was there I also picked up a mouse and a VGA cable for an exterior monitor. The staff were very helpful in finding what I needed. This place is much more convenient for me that the Genius Bars in Manhattan. And when you walk out, you catch a nice breeze off the water. Nothing better! read more

I had a great experience at your Brooklyn location starting from the moment I walked into your store. The security guard Wilfredo (I might have the name wrong but he has a full head of white hair and wears glasses) was very helpful, friendly and pointed me in the right direction. Your sales rep. Fransisco saved my experience (which I brought to the attention of his manager Joe during my visit). He made a mental check list of the items I had in hand and pointed out a very important fact. I was purchasing item 572693, Winbook 8CH + 4CAM kit, and would have, most likely, left the store without a hard drive, that is not included with the kit and indicated as such, as Francisco pointed out, in VERY SMALL print on the box. Along with providing me with a compatible and superior hard drive, he waited for me to compare my intial choice with another model that was maginally less than the kit/hardrive combo he suggested but only offered 500GB vs the 1TB of the aforementioned necessary hard drive. He then returned to help provide me with an economical wireless headphone solution (which to no fault of his, I am dissappointed with. The bluetooth headphones are faulty. They do not charge or connect.), I was not about to pay hundreds of dollars for something I will barely use. At the end of my visit the cashier Christine was extremely patient as well. She allowed me time to put myself together, was very courteous and helped protect my purchase with a two year insurance policy for the surveillance system. I would have purchased one for the hard drive but it comes with three years from the manufactuer. As a person who worked in retail for many years (I am a Logistics Director and I am currently on a consulting project for a retail logistics store), I would say this was almost a perfect purchasing experience. If I would have been able to easily find or been assisted in finding, by a sales rep whose name I didn't get, the economical VGA cable I finally located after ten minutes of searching through the wall of extremely over priced VGA cables, this would have been a perfect shopping experience. That being said, give all three people involved a significant raise. Many companies forget that the most important investment is not in your marketing or your branding. It is in your people. He also brought his colleagues in and they googled my computer to make sure I was getting the right RAM. The knowledge bar is a great innovation that I use a lot, as well as the build it yourself geek spot in the rear. Their 3 year warranty is easy to claim when you need it. After having bought a laptop at Micro Center in the summer of 2016, the motherboard crashed in December 2017. Having purchased the extended warranty, they did honor it and gave us a store credit for the price of the laptop minus the tax. However, when we attempted to have them transfer everything to the new computer, we ran into some issues. Without going into all the details, suffice it to say we had a very frustrating and stressful experience at the Knowledge Bar. We had to go back a second time and this time couldn't have had a more positive experience...which was due to the Knowledge Bar Expert we were assigned...his name was George and he was beyond amazing! He took the time to work with the computer and to explain things to us in simple language all the while being personable, pleasant and professional. We can't thank him enough! read more

They seemed to have a fairly decent selection of electronics from what I could see on the day the I stopped in to have a look see. The sales help didn't seem particularly outgoing but one guy I spoke to was nice enough. The check out area seemed a bit oddly set up, but I didn't buy anything. I will think of them if I need something in a hurry, since they are in my neighborhood. They should think about giving the inside a bit of a sprucing up as it seemed sort of dark and outdated in design. read more

The wait to checkout is ridiculous! There is only one person in front of me which is at the cash register. They use a prehistoric register system. The cashier has to type information into the cash register even if you decline to give your information. I actually had enough time to write this while I was online. read more
