There is no way to talk to a live person.. no phone number listed anywhere. Only number is for their tech support which I gave up after waiting on hold for 15 minutes. Same with chat.. had to wait over 20 min for a live agent. Still couldn't get a solid answer. This is beyond ridicuolus. Obviously their goal is to cut down on sales staff and force the customer to go into their store, and are too dumb to realize how many potential clients are being lost due to lack of speedy communication channels. This has been the best experience buying a computer from any retail store I've ever purchased from... Kevin Moon was the Representative that helped me out. Right off the bat, he showed me all the options that were available and NOT available, just in case I wanted something that was not in stock. He took his time to explain and show be the best value for the money. Over an hour, no pressure. Just lots of great information. I bought a computer, then a few days I wanted something more powerful. Kevin was even helpful post purchase. Easy to communicate with. He showed a computer for me with a 5090RTX that was not in stock, but would call me when it came back in stock. He kept me informed every few days until it came and he took care of the exchange. That's how a great sales rep should do! I've owned many high end computers in a span of over 15 years. This store has a lot of computer parts and gaming peripherals, lots of other fun tech like 3D printers, also a big section with monitors. It's nice to be able to see things like PC cases in-person. On my first visit here I came to talk to the knowledge center about the cost of PC parts installation, and purchase a new monitor. The knowledge center technician provided a quote after a short 15 min or so wait, and recommended I bring in the system to see if parts would fit before committing to installation. However I had trouble finding an associate to help me with the monitors, it's also hard to see some of them up close due to them being on high shelves, so I ended up not purchasing anything. On my second visit I made an appointment an hour before closing time to get help with a CPU installation. My CPU cooler was very stuck and I had tried everything (hairdryer, running it with no fans). I had to wait a little bit after my appointment time but the technician, Cody C., was super polite, friendly, and helpful once I was seen. For no charge he helped to get the CPU cooler and CPU off with no damage! All this right before closing time. I was absolutely thrilled with his service and it really improved my opinion of this Microcenter. I'm planning to return to hopefully get that monitor and I'll be recommending the knowledge bar to my gamer friend who plans to upgrade soon. Thank you again Cody! read more

Disneyland for those missing the in store computer configuring / building experience with everything moving to Amazon today. It's easy to lose track of time exploring all the accessories, fans, cabinets, laptops, and oh so much hardware. Lots of staff so there's always someone knowledgeable to discuss and help out. So glad this exists. Much more lively than Best Buy. Parking can be a challenge despite plenty of space. Taking away 1* star since checkout or return can be a pain on busy days as staff seems to prioritize in store experience over the checkout. read more

I live 1 hour away and was told that I can return and rebuy a laptop under a new credit card that was on the way(for a signup bonus). I picked up the laptop on 12/29 and I was aware of their 15 return policy and the operations manager Alan informed me that it will be fine if I came back after the 15 days, since technically, I'm keeping the laptop. I went in today and was denied the return and rebuy. This was upsetting because I wasted two hours driving back and forth. Had I been informed that this type request was not possible, I would have been fine and didn't need to waste my time today. Customer service also wasn't very helpful at the physical store too. read more

So I am very mixed on this place. They had a grand opening sale of 40% select computers. I wanted one of these select computers but could not go opening weekend. I asked the online chat customer service agent, as there is no store phone number (a super annoying policy) if there would be any change in price if I went the following week. The agent said nope sale is for 2 weeks. Great. Monday I refresh the item listing page and price went from $600 to $700. That was upsetting. Contacted the online chat customer support again. They have no record so they will contact the store manager and he will call me. To his credit he did call me. He then said we will honor the $600 if you have proof. Dummy me, I did not screen shot or take a pic or nothing, I truly thought it would not change. I said fair enough i'll just pay the $700. Drive all the way up there. I am in Monterey area. Pay the $700 and drive home. Then less than one month later they add the 10% sale back on to compete with Amazon Prime week and call it Tech Week or something dumb like that. Well unfortunately rather than calculate the 40% off the list of $1,000 they calculate the 30% off making it $700 then 10% off additional making it $630 so still not the $600 I originally saw but still $70 cheaper. So my 5th time about talking to online chat support. They do offer price protection guarantee but I have to drive to the store to get the refund of the difference!!!!! Are you kidding me!!! I am super pissed. Luckily my wife was leaving from San Jose Airport so I drove her and got the refund but this store has several policies that upset me greatly. Policy 1. They do not track sales. The store manager assured me the price of that SKU item never changed. I do not think he lied. I think the Sale (% discount) changed not the list price so he genuinely did not see the price change. I should have asked if the store had record of any they sold on the first two days of opening and what the purchase price was. Anyways my mistake for not asking the write question and for trusting online customer support. Policy 2. No direct store phone number. Policy 3. You have to be in the store to receive the price protection refund. These 3 policies cost this store 2 starts. I give them a 3. The PC was still far cheaper than anywhere else it was just not what I expected. That said I will reserve making a judgement until I have more interactions with this store. read more

Horrible customer service. I went to the store for a quote to repair a laptop screen. I signed up for the waitlist where I was the only customer. There are 3-4 employees working the area who appear to be browsing their phones. I decided to browse the store while I wait for their call. I browsed the store for more than 30 minutes and still no call. I walk back near the front desk to find them still playing on their phones. I am writing this review at the 40 minutes mark without no help from them. This is funny to me because there are few customers inside the store beside myself. Moreover, I was able to get a quote within 3 minutes over the phone with Central Computers while browsing Microcenter. What a joke! Update - They finally called after more than 2 hours. Too bad I already left after 1 hrs at their store. Definitely reminds me of the iconic, horrible Fry's Electronic experience where the employees dont want to help you in-store and ask for your business after you left the store. Good job Microcenter! While I do appreciate a brick-and-mortar store offering good inventory and competitive prices, I can't give this Micro Center more than 1 star, because they are SHADY AF! I walked in, knowing exactly what I want. I found my item, picked it up and started to walk to the register. Out of nowhere, this sales person comes up and slaps their sticker on my item - presumably for their commission or credit. I pulled the sticker off. Sorry, you did not assist me in any way. You don't get free credit, let alone commission. At the register, I was asked if I had an account - I did not. Of course they asked if I wanted to start one - I did not. Then I was told because the item was on sale, I was required to create an account. FINE, but you're just getting fake information. I'm sure they were graded on how many accounts they created. Two different employees exhibiting terrible business ethics does not seem like a coincidence. I have to conclude the store management much encourage or condone this behavior. Why can't we have a simple and honest transaction? You sell me an item that I want, I give you money for it. That's it. Major Fail. read more

Went during the soft opening during Memorial Day. The store had a little bit of everything for you average computer geek. Unifi network rack check (though limited stock on their more interesting gear imo). Various monitors, computers, laptops, etc. check. Hardware tools (soldering, wires, etc.) check. Computer accessories, cables, check. Hobbyist gear check. DIY check (actually had a good amount of 50 series card in stock). How far do they go into each niche. Custom Keyboards was a bit weak imo. Akko and keychron was the most niche brands. No Owlabs or QK customs. Gaming gear is whatever (steelseries, razer, etc.). They only had 1 DP 80 cable that is 3ft. Associates in that area didn't really know much about it or what VESA certification was. As mentioned, unifi gear was available and had a display but no associate dared to stand around there. I assume most were not trained in networking gear. PC cases, to my surprised, had a nice variety on display that covered even the SFF niche (signage even helping to guide you to find parts). Everything is nicely organized by brand. If I had to suggest, also suborganize by motherboard size (e.g. ATX, mATX, ITX). Its just brand then random placement of boards. There was a good amount of RTX 50 series card available though the highly sought out Asus Astral was gone shortly after I arrived. During my visit, I picked up a GPU and Monitor. The GPU was a quick grab and I was helped by an associate Joe. For GPU, it must be brought up to the front and during checkout you can then pay and take home. Can't be carried around the store for good reason I bet. Though, there was a lot of confusion when I went to check out as they thought I had a mobile order and I kept telling them I went into the store and associate Joe said he'd leave it up front and just mention my name and their name. There's a promo that during 30ds of grand opening, monitors are 20% off. You can purchase early and come back to get cash on the difference as suggested by their associate Kevin in the PC department. Lastly, I did not receive my 125GB flashdrive. 3 Different associates told me entirely different things on what is required. This is either just misadvertisement as the website mentioned just email sign up was required or employees apply shady practices for some commission/bonus. Keven had mentioned all I needed to do was apply to pre-qualify for the credit card which I found odd but sure as I didn't really want the card but would do it for free stuff. Then an associate upfront mentioned I needed to actually have the card in hand with a temporary number (so hard credit check) to get the flash drive. Then, the Cashier Nicholas mentioned it was just account sign up/register. I ended up bailing as there was no consistent story and felt shady and never received the flashdrive. In fact, as soon as I mentioned I was uninterested, the associate handling the processing tone change as if I was wasting his time which gave off the vibe that this was commission/bonus involved. Throughout the process, they assured there's no pressure and whatever. While I gave no care, this tactic would definitely work on certain individuals to sign up for such a card. Took off a star for this shady interaction with 3 different employees on this. Every store associate when purchasing will mention this protection plan. I was uninterested but asked for the pricing anyways to see if it made sense. There's so heavy guilt tripping citing generalities without specific sources. For example, GPU catching on fire is a general problem with 5090s and the 12VHPWR cable. So, a lot of handwaving but no source cited and their main claim was computer engineering degree/student (wasn't sure which). Again, the average person that comes into this store would likely be purchase something due to fear mongering tactics that I didn't really appreciate. tl;dr: Great to have a computer hardware store back in South Bay. Associates could do some research in their general area but if you know what you want no need to deal with them. read more

The good - large store with almost as much gadgets as Fry's Electronics in its hay day. The Bad - most product is locked up even though there's a security guard twiddling his fingers in the vestibule. The Ugly - it wasn't very busy on Tuesday and even though I walked every inch of the store and walked by multiple employees including ones with ties that looked like managers, no one greeted me, said hello or "welcome to Micro Center". For a new store you should have someone sales leading or at least greeting and directing guest in your new store. In the past I ran some of the biggest retailers on Steven's Creek and my staff knew all tasks came second to a customer within 10 feet. Good Luck read more

I purchased an open box monitor and attempted to return it because it was defective. They declined the return because I didn't have the original box. They said they couldn't scan the SKU to confirm it was legit, even though my receipt clearly listed the SKU and serial number, which they confirmed matched the monitor. Then they said they couldn't take it back without the box because they wouldn't be able to resell it, even though the monitor was defective and not resellable anyway. Next, they claimed they couldn't return it to the manufacturer without the box, so they'd lose money if they accepted the return. After I explained that their loss isn't the customer's responsibility, they told me that buying an open box item means taking the risk that it might not work, and they can't just accept a return for a broken product. I asked, hypothetically, if the same would apply had the item been purchased new. They had no answer. I then asked how the return policy differs between open box and new items, and they confirmed there is no difference. I referenced their return policy, which makes no mention of requiring original packaging. The manager admitted they weren't familiar with the return policy and refused to read it when I asked. I refuted every excuse they gave. They refused to escalate the situation and told me there were other customers waiting who would take priority over me. Extremely disappointed with the customer service. They refused to honor their own return policy for inconsistent reasons, and made it clear that helping customers is not their priority. P.S. This monitor was only $60. read more

Spent nearly $900 on a Sim-Lab racing rig, picked up at the end of May. When opening the boxes, I noticed the L-brackets to mount the wheel deck were missing. Not a huge deal to pack everything back up and return it, but I figured I'd call support first. I found out that Microcenter doesn't expose their store's direct number, at least for the Santa Clara store -- just general phone support. They assured me that they would leave a message for a manager to call me back. Cool. The manager did call back, and things were looking promising. He said it wasn't a big deal and that I could go ahead and continue building the sim rig. He'd pull the part from existing inventory, and I mentioned that online stock looked low according to the site. He reassured me saying that worst case, he'd do a store transfer and call me back. Awesome. I waited a few days and didn't hear back. Not a big deal -- it's a new store, probably super busy with the opening. I managed to get in touch with the same manager again, but unfortunately, the part was out of stock and they weren't able to do a store transfer. Instead, he said he'd reach out to Sim-Lab directly for a replacement. Nice. I waited another week with no updates or callbacks. Now I'm sweating a bit because now the rig is built as far as it can go so returning it is no longer an option. To get back into contact with the manager that helped me I tried: - Phone calls to customer service -- They promised to leave messages at the store like the first time around, got no callbacks. - Visiting in person -- an employee checked stock but because the rig is OOS, nothing they can really do. They said they'd leave a message and I'd get a callback. Still nothing. - Multiple emails via a support ticket -- reps said they passed along messages to the store, but again, no callbacks. Eventually, even support stopped replying when I mentioned I still haven't heard from a manager. So now I have a partially completed racing sim rig, no way to return it and no recourse thanks to empty promises. If this had been any other store, I would've returned the whole thing the same day but between the manager's reassurance, Micro Center's reputation for customer care and the good memories I had from the old location, I genuinely thought they'd handle it. Lesson learned. TL;DR: Picked up a nearly $900 sim rig on May 27 during the soft opening that was missing critical parts. Nearly a month later after a bunch of empty promises, I'm stuck with an unusable racing rig and no way to return it. Trying my luck with Sim Lab directly now and it's looking they're going to do what Microcenter won't. read more

I recently started getting back into gaming over the past year, so I decided to finally get a PC build. Before coming into the store, I was a little intimidated to buy a PC because I know nothing about computers. But once I walked in, Joe M. greeted me and was very friendly and helpful while creating the PC build of my dreams! He explained things in a way that made sense to me and went above and beyond to match the inspiration picture I showed him. He pulled all the parts for me and then escorted me to the building center where he introduced me to Jason Y. Jason Y is a literal magician and made my dream into a reality! There were some issues with faulty parts (from shipping issues, not because of Jason) and Jason was in constant communication with me about everything he was doing and what needed to be replaced. When I came to pick up the PC, David helped me check out and was just amazing with handling all the changes to make sure it all was attached to my protection plan properly. Unfortunately, I had picked a GPU and CPU that were not strong enough to handle the games I play, so I came back to Jason to ask if I could upgrade. Jason was able to recommend the best options and was quickly able to replace the new parts in the computer and now it's running everything on the highest quality graphics settings!! The PC Jason built for me was even better than I could have dreamed and I'm just over the moon! Micro Center is my new favorite store specifically because Jason and David went above and beyond for me and because of them, I'm a forever customer! read more

Went in to pick up the latest Magic: The Gathering booster box the other day for a friend out of state and I was helped by an associate (who's name I didn't get, sorry) who immediately saw me hanging around the TCG impulse section near the registers and asked me what I needed. As soon as I showed him the listing on my phone and he knew exactly what I was there for and asked me how many I needed (only needed 1 box) and he stood in line with me as we waited for the next available cashier. Chatted about how crazy the TCG market is and how most card stores just overprice their inventory now. When I checked out, I was surprised I wasn't in their system even though I get their email blasts and text message offers, so I thought I had signed up before. Anyways, filling out my customer information was quick and easy and finished the transaction, got my receipt and I was on my way. At the end of it all, I didn't expect to get something not computer or electronic related at Micro Center, but it's good their prices are better for TCG packs than the comic book store next door or any other local game store in the area. 5 stars, highly recommended for PC parts and TCG packs. read more

Drove down to santa clara this morning and checked out the new Micro Center re-opening. Lots of latest and over-priced products, lots of employees standing around in groups, but no way to tell who is available to assist or answer a question. The checkout line was a mile-long. The silicon valley geeksters now have a new spot to geek out at. Wonder if all those people have jobs and took today off or they live in their parents' basements or garages. I left empty-handed. Beware. Going to Santa Clara Micro Center to fix my laptop ended up being a waste of money and time that didn't solve anything. I had accidentally burnt a component on my motherboard while upgrading RAM, which left the laptop usable only when plugged into AC and with the battery removed. I even bought a second battery to verify that the issue wasn't the battery itself. Because I needed the laptop for day-to-day work, I looked for a place that could replace the damaged component locally - ideally without mailing it out for weeks. Micro Center seemed promising. I paid $80 for an "advanced diagnosis." After being without my laptop for two days, the diagnosis came back repeating the same conclusion I gave them when I dropped it off - except less accurate. Their report claimed the laptop would not power on even with AC, which is simply false. I'm writing this review on that machine. They pushed for a full motherboard replacement for $350 + $100 labor. With the $80 already sunk and no better local options, I agreed. I was told the motherboard would arrive in 2-3 weeks. Three weeks passed without updates. When I finally checked in, I was told it was "being shipped." After pointing out that it should already be there, they suddenly "noticed" it had been held up, and said they had now ordered a new one from a different supplier and would update me every other day. Another week passed with zero updates. Eventually, someone contacted me saying they had discovered that no one had actually ordered my motherboard, and suggested I consider buying a new laptop instead. Ironically, this is the person I'm the most grateful for in this the whole process - thanks to that message, I managed to buy a new machine elsewhere about 90 minutes before Black Friday deals ended. I returned to Micro Center, waited, and finally got my $350 back. But by then I had already missed the Amazon return window for the, now unnecessary, extra RAM and battery I bought earlier. In the end, going to Micro Center cost me ~$230 (redundant diagnosis + missed Amazon return window) + gas spent on three long round-trip drives to the Santa Clara store, a lot of time and stress. Ultimately, I had to buy a new laptop anyway - something I could have done a month ago without ever going to Micro Center. read more

Typical experience-stuck in line with a simple question about shelf status for an item shown as in-stock, while the dork working at the register was attempting to make sweet love to a completely clueless woman building a PC from scratch...for 30 GD minutes. Here's a hint, geniuses: create a way to prioritize and sort customer inquiries. Eventually, my guy simply left his computer unattended (and unlocked!) so he could follow this woman around the store like a little puppy dog, so I searched the inventory system myself. I guess I should have also given myself some complimentary items but I didn't think of it at the time. Oh well. I'd rather go to funky little Central Computer, or, failing that, just buy ish on (shudder) Amazon if really desperate. Love the idea of mini frys open in the area, actually bought few things when they opened up. Ordered mac mini pro that they had open box they said it was thoroughly tested, paid for it, opened the box while in store and it's a cracked case, the case it self had marks of being opened and messed with, I went back to the cashier and showed her and she said they must of mixed it, it's impossible to miss a cracked case, and then another employee behind the scenes said or it's that one. They could've notified me and gave me a heads up before showing up. Of course they accepted return no questions asked. But seriously I doubt that thing would even turn on it's beaten up so bad, and I doubt it has original parts. I'm sure no one tested it or turned it on. read more

At long last Micro Center returns to Silicon Valley! How can we call ourselves the tech capital of the US without a Micro Center? The Good: lots of keyboards on display, and even some niche brands like Keychron or Glorious. Definitely catering to the modern day gamer/streamer. Not as much console gear. The Bad: Return policy is a bit shorter than others, and some of the employees don't seem that knowledgeable about the goods sold. Regular PC gear selection a bit lacking, but its the best they can fit in a retail store. The only reason I haven't bought from them is because I already have all the gear I need. Also, special kudos to them for investigating the RTX supplier issue after a customer found their graphics card purchase to be missing. Buy with confidence here! read more

Tons of gadgets, tech toys, accessories, etc. Some neat things for kids too, but overall not super kid-friendly in terms of setup or vibe. The store layout was confusing--felt like I was just wandering around trying to find things with not much signage to help. Not super intuitive. What really brought the rating down for me was the staff. Got approached while I was browsing when I didn't really need help, and then when I did ask questions, the info I got was either wrong or not helpful at all. Later stood in line at the IT/service area, and the people at the desk were just plain rude when my husband asked for assistance. Kinda frustrating. I brought in my laptop for repair due to a malfunctioning built-in monitor. The device itself worked perfectly when connected to an external display. I informed the technician that the monitor was flashing a pattern of 7 white and 2 yellow lights, which typically indicates a monitor error. However, the initial diagnostic report inaccurately stated that the screen was displaying green lines--something I never observed or mentioned. After a week, I was told the repair cost would be too high, so I opted to retrieve the laptop and continue using it with a second monitor. Unfortunately, upon pickup, the laptop no longer powered on at all. I returned to the repair center to address this issue, but the staff was dismissive and unhelpful. Their explanation was that the motherboard must have failed after I picked it up, which felt like a convenient deflection rather than a genuine investigation. Throughout the process, the technician showed little empathy or professionalism, and I left feeling frustrated and unsupported. I went to parking lot on the grand opening . It was insanely overcrowded no parking as a massive crowd was gathered for the ribbon cutting - whatsoever so I had lunch across the street and came back so the traffic died down a little . Scored a scrunched up spot in the back side of the shopping center next to the Bank of America atm kiosk. From the moment entering it was like going thru a Time Machine to the 90s 2000s of a brick and mortar electronics store . Total FRYS electronics vibe RIP Fry's by the way . This place had everything you need except video games which was odd. The prices are fair too. Just outside the entry door was a huge stack of boxed MICROCENTER coffee mugs which was paper labeled free take one. I got mine since I didn't buy anything and drove all the way from SR. No cafe or magazine section like fry's but everything else resembled it. I glad this opened and will not mind the drive . It is clean and super organized. Management is doing a great job can't believe how they hired these many people and can stay competitive with Amazon and online. Christmas time is gonna be nuts here for sure. Places ordered online to pick up, a really good deal for unit. Into was damaged. Return reps aid just order online, but item was not available at their store anymore, other locations would not ship and store manager would not order to replace damaged unit. no effort to correct the issue. read more
