Not The Best.....Not The Worst..... would have to be my assessment of Mid- Hudson Chinese Buffet. If your in the mood to just throw your diet out the window for a day....this is the place. Certainly not the best I've ever had....nor did I expect it to be. IT'S A BUFFET.....Unless your in Las Vegas....don't expect ANY buffet To be a TOP NOTCH CULINARY EXPERIENCE. It's just not a platform built for that. However, In my experience with this restaurant, I have found the Staff to be friendly and attentive enough and the food....Hot,Tasty and Plentiful. There is a huge selection of Chinese, Japanese and American foods. We've eaten there dozens of times over the last decade or so and have always enjoyed the experience (for what it is) and never got sick or had to complain about any of the dishes being offered. With your expectations properly adjusted....go and enjoy a perfectly acceptable and plentiful meal at this restaurant at a very fair price. read more

Hey for a cheap chinese buffet, its certainly the best in the area, but the food still is one step below eating fresh roadkill....obviously plenty of dishes, most of them taste all the same the place is kept clean however if you have to use the bathroom, youre better off going outside....they are GROSS!!!!!! there is the mongolian bbq where they cook what you bring them, but still ehhhhh they water down the sauces....neevr saw duck sauce so thin read more

Honestly, I don't go to many buffets but I think this one is like, decent? The food is consistent, the staff is friendly, but the bathrooms are literally horrendous. This place is friggin lit. Minimum i eat 4 plates of food. Two of those are crab legs at least. Ive eaten every type of food here just about, my only qualms are with the jello. I think they add Elmer's glue to it or something. Soft serve ice cream? Dope AF. "American" food is awful but what can you expect, its a chinese boofay. Cant beat the eats here. Horrible experience! Food is certainly sub par. Worst part was the service. The waitress was rude and hurried us out of the restaurant. I'm sorry I have to write a bad review for this place, it's close to my house and I could walk over whenever I'm in the mood. The other budget Kingston buffet on 9W is one of the best I've ever had, this one is not even close, maybe one of the worst. One item on the menu, the mongolian beef with ginger and garlic, I tried a small portion and really liked it, then when I went back and got more, it was way overspiced with black pepper. My friend who was with me just wanted some shrimp and lobster and he was sorry too, was bland without butter and almost cold. Not good, not even fair, I hope they can improve. read more

As a college student, I go to buffets often. The mid Hudson buffet is pretty good. There is a good variety of food, both Chinese and "American." They have a large selection of seafood, ranging from shrimp to salmon. The Mongolian Barbecue is included in the buffet, which can be a nice change from their regular food, as you can customize your meal. I love that they have soft serve ice cream, but you should skip the small bowls and go straight for the soup bowls. The best deal is the lunch menu, which is cheaper (but you can't eat the carved meats). That lasts until 3:30. When you're there, give their pepper chicken a try! read more

The food is great. service is great. The owners sandy and Mike are great people and the prices are decent. The food is always fresh. Always many options to choose from with 3 steam tables, sushi, Mongolian and hibachi grill. Lots of salad options,desserts and ice cream. Great family dinning and food choices for everyone. Went to dinner here last week with a male "friend" and they were not busy, lots of empty tables, but they put me and my friend in the back room because of how we were dressed with the two overweight people in their pajamas and after a few minutes the busload of "special needs" people. I have gone to his place at least 2 times a month for the past 15 years spending on average $80 each time. Best Chinese Buffet in the area. Selections are plenty and they keep a close eye on trays that are low so if they do run out, it's just a short wait. Very clean and fresh. Staff is attentive. I disagree with the four or five star reviewers. In my opinion, this place would only receive a half a star it is that bad. They put a lot of salt and sauce in their food to hide the taste of their food. When I see that, I know that they do not use good or fresh food. I too also got sick from eating there. The health department should investigate this place. The only two cities that have good Chinese food is San Franceso's Chinatown and New York City's Chinatown. I was on a bus tour upstate that took us to Mid Hudson Buffet for lunch. Right as the bus was pulling in the mall where Mid Hudson is located, I didn't like the looks of the place, very cheap looking storefront. I said to myself, get ready, this is going to be bad.....and was I right!! This had to be the worst food (IF it was even food) that I have ever had in my entire life. First few bites I knew that if I ate more I would throw up (and I noticed the words "throw up" in several of these reviews. Some of the stuff didn't even taste like food. For the life of me, I cannot understand WHY the place was so crowded. Must be because the price of the buffet was so low. There is no way in the world I can give this place a good review. The Health Department should go there and check the food out, it's really that bad. Read some of the other reviews on this place--they are telling the truth. read more

This is one of the BEST buffets we have been to!! A lot of food for a great price! Not only is the food fresh, it is delicious! We are very impressed at the constant cleaning of the buffet, the frequent changing of serving utensils, and the food trays being refilled. The service at the Mogolian grill was horrible today and management was just as bad. I selected the food that I wanted to have cooked and went over to the grill, but no one was there so I stood there thinking they would come out the back room soon. I waited about five minutes and then asked a person that was putting the food out if she knew where the cook was? Not sure if she understood me so I pointed to my food and then toward the grill and she told me to leave the food sitting there and take a number so I would get called when it was done. I left it there but did not feel good about leaving my food out in the opening like that so I just kept an eye on it while I picked up some other food close by. Still no one appeared to cook the food and now it's been about ten minutes. I went back to my table and told my wife that no one it there and my food is sitting out in the opening. I got back up and the cook (I think) came out of the back but he had his smart phone in his hand and was typing away. He walked over to one area, put one glove on, but never went toward my food, I just stood there and watched him. I finally gone tired put my beeper down, went to my wife and told her I will be waiting in the car. I did stop by and tell management what happen but he didn't didn't seem to concern about it, so I walked out the door. When my wife came out I asked if they charge her for the food that I did eat which was crab legs and a soda? She told me that they did and that I misunderstood what was going on at the Mogolian grill. She was told that the cook had put the chicken on the stick on the grill and not the rest of the food because they had to be cooked separate from the other food and I just assumed that he wasn't cooking. Well I explain to my wife what happened again and then I got out of my car went back into the buffet, talked to and explain what happened again to management and they told me that I was wrong, and ever tho they were not there told me what happened. I was not suppose to believe my lying eyes. I have been to this place more times then I can remember, but this was the last time that I will ever step foot in this place. I realize that my little bit of money does not do much to hurt their pocketbook, but it's my money and now I will spend it somewhere else.
