I googled local bike repair shops, and google showed me to be closer to another shop on Pico... Mike's bike shop. I went there first, and the owner was arrogant and rude to me and basically refused to fix a flat in the same day (this was around 2:30pm), so I went to Sound Cycle which was the second closest instead. It's a hole in the wall shop... I walked right by it at first. But don't judge a book by its cover either. This was the best decision I made all day! Wes, the owner, fixed my flat in under 20 minutes, and he was personable the whole time. In addition to repairing bikes, he collects CDs and vinyl records which are on display in his shop, and he'll gladly chat with you about them while he's fixing your bike. I even learned that he saw David Bowie live twice! While this has nothing to do with repairing bikes, it definitely added to the coolness factor. Considering I had just left another bike repair shop where the owner was a total a**hole to me, coolness was somehow important to me. He fixed my bike when another bike shop owner wouldn't, and he was a decent human being. I would definitely go back. Moral of this story: treat people decently. Help a woman in need. I…read morecalled the Beverly Hills store ahead of time to confirm they had a 20x4 inner tube in stock, explicitly mentioning that I was riding a heavy e-bike. The staff confirmed they had the part, so I walked my heavy, disabled e-bike a mile to the shop in 98-degree heat, arriving on the verge of heat exhaustion. Upon arrival, the technician barely looked at me or the bike. He nonchalantly stated he had other customers and asked me to leave the bike overnight, which I agreed to do. Three hours later, I received a phone call from the technician stating he had "bad news." He claimed that due to my bike's suspension setup, he lacked the "specialized tools" required to remove the rear wheel without damaging it. As an experienced rider, I knew this was completely false. The rear wheel drops off cleanly using standard hand tools without ever touching the suspension. When I returned to the shop to retrieve my bike, my suspicions were confirmed by the unprofessional attitude of the staff: * The employee at the door mocked my situation, condescendingly telling me, "Well, have fun with that," when I pointed out the fix was simple. * The cashier completely shrugged me off, stating he "didn't know" why the tech refused the work, showing absolute indifference to the fact that they were turning away business. Because of their refusal to perform a basic tire change, I was forced to drag my heavy e-bike another 2 miles to the train station in 90-degree weather. When I finally got the bike home, I successfully removed the rear wheel and replaced the tube myself in less than 30 minutes using a standard wrench and an Allen key. The technician lied about needing specialized equipment. The staff's dismissive, mocking, and unhelpful behavior leaves me to believe that I was either turned away out of sheer laziness or straight-up discrimination. No customer should be humiliated, lied to, and left stranded in a dangerous heatwave by representatives of the Trek brand.

This shop is amazing and so is Christopher…read more We walked in on a Saturday morning (the day before Ciclavia) with a bike that arrived with a twisted chain when we pulled it out of the box to assemble it. I was worried they would be too busy the day before Ciclavia to do a same day repair service, but that was definitely not the case. The moment I walked in, Christopher greeted me with a friendly smile and asked how he could help me. I told him about the twisted bike chain on my brand new bike, and he said he could fix it immediately! He said "I need 5 minutes and is $20 ok?" I was thrilled! I ran out to get my bike, rolled it back in, and Christopher fixed my issue in about 3 minutes. He was amazing! The shop is well stocked with all kinds of brand new bikes, from road bikes to e-bikes. They also sell helmets (kids to adults), Kryptonite locks, seats, seat covers, and pretty much anything you could need for your biking adventure. They even do bike tours of LA! This is such a cool shop with a great team, excellent, knowledgeable service, and experienced bike technicians. I will be back for anything we need for our bikes, or, hopefully to book a bike tour of LA the next time we have friends in town. They're also the bike shop in Weho that opens the earliest on weekends - they open at 9am on Saturdays. Thank you for saving the day for us before Ciclavia, Christopher!

My wife and I have been going to Wheel World for about 10 years now. Bought both bikes and…read moreaccessories there. Had tune ups done there. Sometimes they are understaffed, which makes service a bit slow, but they were always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - so when I decided to buy and e-bike, they were of course my first choice. Unfortunately, they did not have the model I wanted so I ordered directly from the manufacturer and had it shipped to Wheel World for assembly and delivery. Very, very different experience so far. I called them twice. Just twice. Over a period of 3 days. I first called to confirm they had received the bike (I received a delivery estimate, but no tracking number from the manufacturer). Instead of a "yes, we have it," I was met with a defensive and condescending diatribe about how they're very busy and it takes time to assemble a bike. I politely clarified that I just wanted to make sure they got it because I had no tracking number, and was told "that's what happens when you order directly from the manufacturer." He then, reluctantly looked it up and told me yes, they had received it, but they are very busy so it probably wouldn't be ready until the next day. I would get a phone call when it was ready. Given my rather long history with Wheel World, I hope that this was abherent behavior and that he was just having a bad day or something. I didn't get a phone call then next day, so I followed up the day after that (2 days after the first phone call) to get an ETA. Spoke to a different person, who started with "As my colleague told you..." then proceeded to give me the same defensive and condescending behavior, but did at least tell me they were charging the battery and downloading software updates, so the bike will be ready "today or tomorrow." So, apparently not abherent behavior - at least when it comes to bikes ordered online and shipped to them for assembly and delivery. My current theory is that they don't like playing this role because the bike wasn't bought from them. They're entitled to their feelings, but it's more than a little unprofessional of them to share them with a customer this way. This is a $6,000 e-bike. If they wanted me to buy it from them, they should have had it in stock. Since they didn't, they needed to exercise a little impulse control and not express their hurt feelings to a retail customer who had called them exactly TWICE in 3 days. The second time ONLY because it wasn't ready on the day they said it would be the first time I called. Now, instead of feeling excited about getting my new bike, I'm nervous about the kind of delivery experience I will have. They get 1 star so far. I'll update this review after I pick up the bike. UPDATE: Delivery experience was mostly excellent. Store was mostly empty (Super Bowl Sunday). Manager helped me and he was friendly and professional. I did share my telephone experience with him and he did listen and did apologize for my experience, but I have a feeling nobody else at Wheel World will ever hear about it. Still, the experience was at least pleasant, so I gave them 2 additional stars for that.

Overall the work was good but it pains me to see staff treated so poorly. The other thing that was a disappointment was I was told my bike would be ready on a specific day. When I arrived one day later to get it the owner had zero memory of me and, of course, had not even touched the bike. I got the sense that this is incredibly common at this shop as the staff privately asked me who told me it would be ready and then rolled their eyes when I said who as if this is so common. Lucky I took a photo of the receipt (only once I could produce it did my bike appear).

I think his name was Kim- he worked on tightening my brakes for probably a good 20 minutes. He initially was baffled in trying to determine what was preventing them from working. I felt grateful this man seemed genuinely concerned & thorough, considering he was providing a free service to me. After realizing he couldn't fix whatever the problem was, he asked his helper to take a look. After about 5 minutes, the helper said the the replacement arm or brake was broken. It wasn't broken when I brought it to them. They wish they would've done the right thing and told me they accidentally broke it and would honor a repair. But they didn't. I said thank you for trying and thank you for your time, left them a tip and rode away. I didn't know it was broken until I closely inspected it after riding off. They seemed friendly and helpful, however I felt duped and deceived.
