Bought a used hybrid Trek bike, tuned up and in excellent shape for $200. Amazing deal

Poor attention to work. PROS: The people who work there are friendly and very laidback, in terms of attitude they do have a very welcoming and easy-going vibe. Another pro is the price because they charge $10 to change a tube for a bike, but here's where I get to my cons... CONS: Service is POOR. As stated, I came to get a tube replaced for my back tire for $10. Not bad, or so I thought. A day later my back tire is flat again. I returned to get it fixed and they wanted to charge me again for the tube. Of course I refused, and when they took a look again they realized they had given me a faulty tube and that it was their fault. So they changed the tube again, no charge. Two days later, guess what happened?? Flat tire again! And also they changed my gear from free wheel to fixed without even telling me (I should have double checked about that one at the shop). Of course, I naturally decided to go to another shop, and it was them who told me the problem was I needed a new tire and that the tube that was placed was old. That means this shop didn't even notice that the tire was the problem. LOCATION: This bike shop is located in mid city. Theres no immediate parking for the shop, but there is metered street parking. Safe to say I wont be coming back here, shame because it's so close to where I live but the service was terrible. read more

I'm confused about the negative ratings for this shop and I'm not certain if those ratings apply to this business.. This is a one-man operation and the guys name is Chito... If you are in the shop and she Chito is not there it means you are not in the right shop... this guy has a passion for bicycles and so far proven to be very knowledgeable ...when it comes to repairs you can tell he is experienced and can fix pretty much anything...He is kind ,patient and friendly I highly recommend it read more

Walked in and asked for a quick question about seats covers... and before I finished my question I got cut off with "no" .. didn't even bother to offer at least a seat. The person inside was no help at all. read more

We took our bikes which haven't been ridden in years to Mid Town and couldn't be happier. They were so nice and gave our bikes a new life. The price was amazing and less than a hundred. I would gladly recommend this great shop in Mid City. read more

So I mistook this bike shop as a metal recycling center. After some time, I decided to take my son's bike for a rear derailleur fix. In the middle of fixing it, the shop owner decided he wanted to sell me a bike. I declined. Then he went onto fiddling around with the bike until he was delivered with a message from the depths unknown to sacrifice this bike to the metal recycling demons. However, I remained on my spiritual goal to give life back to this bike! I gently carried the bike back to my home. It was given an oil bath of WD40 and tickled with screw drivers to keep it happily tuned for laughter. In thanks, this bike gave my son another two years of blissful bicycling journeys before it was adopted by another family. The bike is doing well and making many more fond memories for another boy. Moral of this story...Recycle cans and bottles, Not bicycles. Bi means two. And this bicycle is only on its 2nd cycle. read more

I highly advise that anyone who actually cares about their bike to not go here. I went there to install a bottom bracket on my bike. NJS Sugino 75. I had the bottom bracket greased and partially installed. All they needed to do was to finish the install with the correct tool that I personally don't own. The staff member takes my bike and puts it on the repair stand. Begins to tighten the lock ring without tightening the cup first. What happens when install a bottom bracket incorrectly? You got a lot of play in the spindle. This is bad. He then returns the bike to me saying it's ready. I checked his work and the spindle has about a 1/2 inch of play. He also rounded the notches on my lock ring! While installing the lock ring, the wrench slipped out of his hands and rounded the notches on the lock ring. This should have been my red flag and I should have walked out of there immediately. It gets worse. After showing him the play, he takes it back to the repair stand. Now the owner comes over and looks at the bottom bracket install. The owner removes the lock ring, tightens the cup by hand but doesn't have the correct size tool to properly install the cup. He then attempts to install the cup with needle nose pliers. Then he installs the lock ring and tightens it. He hands me back the bike and I check it. There is still play in the spindle because the cup is not properly installed. After I tell him there's still play, he tells me that's the way it's supposed to be. Um, no. Finally, I've had enough - I demand my bike back before they damage it anymore and I leave. If you have quality components and care about your bike, take my sad experience as a warning. Run! Go a few blocks up to Rolling Cowboys Bike Shop. They're expensive but you apparently get what you pay for. I told Dan I needed my bottom bracket properly installed. He takes a quick look at the spindle and states that it's not installed correctly. There's too much play. That's what I get for trying to save 20 bucks. Never again, Mid-town Bicycle Shop. I hope other LA cyclists heed my warning. read more

Because this is a neighborhood establishment, I walked 2 miles with my bike needing repaie. The young lady stated that the main person was not in and she would not keep the bike for repairs because of spaxe. Her solution was to take a photo of the needed part and she would Calle to bring my bike back in for the repairs. No call was ever recieved. I would.like to.givr less than 1 star read more

Never had a problem ever and the main guy who works there is super nice and helpful. I've been 3x. 1x to get tire fixed before burning man and the bike checked. 1x to see if he had a part for a bicycle trailer (which he did and just gave it to me) and the last time was to fix the small front tire on my baby's jogger stroller. Sucks for the other people who wrote bad reviews cause it's a great little bike shop. read more

Excellent hole in the wall bike shop. A wide selection of bikes. The owner is very flexible and will accommodate any request. He is humble yet highly knowledgable in bikes. We felt comfortable almost immediately after discussing bike components. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but don't let the looks or reviews fool you. Give this guy a chance. I came in here to get a flat fixed after I ended up with on in the middle of a ride. Simple, right? They were rude, condescending and the best part was that they used a tube with too short of a stem so as soon as I hit a bump on my bike the next day I got a pressure flat. I wouldn't recommend going here if you're looking for professionalism or decent repairs. Their bike prices are okay but I wouldn't trust the quality of any refurbished bikes seeing as they didn't even bother to get the right tube in my bike. read more

I got a flat tire and decided to get a full workup/tuneup as it had been a while since I had it done - and wow the bike has NEVER ridden as well as it does now. It looks and feels like a whole new bike! And the price is totally reasonable. read more

Its tough to give a review when they never seem to be open, even with hours posted on the door. I see that others have had the same problem. There is only metered parking out front (3-4 spaces). Otherwise, you'll have to park at Lower and walk your bike over. read more

I went to the place with my bike at 10:30 AM but they were not open. Yet online and even in their window it said they were open at 10:00 AM. So I called the number on the window and the man on the other line said that they were running late because of traffic. So I went to the nearby coffee shop and waited so that they can come and open the place. I came back at 11:00 AM and they were open. I started explaining the problem with my bike and in the middle of my explanation he picked up his cell phone and called someone. He had the person on speaker. He was talking to me angrily and talking to other person on the other line at the same time. He got of the phone after he realized how rude he was being but he did not stop being rude. He was also very condescending. As if I was stupid for not knowing about bicycles. When that is the whole reason why I came to his bicycle shop. I asked them if I they could check if something was wrong with my back wheel and the man said angrily that he would charge me $4 to check. I asked him if it was easy to check for myself and he said yes but if I wanted to check I would have to go outside and do it. He didn't even care about being rude in front of my grandmother who was patiently waiting outside. In the end, I told him I would come back and he said "ok, whatever." I never came back to this place and I would never recommended to someone else. read more
