These guys are very honest. I took my car in because my back windows would not unlock and my front side mirrors would not work. I thought that I had an electrical short or mechanical problem and was expecting to pay well over a thousand dollars to repair my BMW. The gentleman at the counter looked at the window and pulled out his screwdriver. In less than two minutes, he pulled out a piece of metal trim that got lodged under the power window control device. Everything worked again. The Midas mechanic then looked at my engine and checked the transmission because I had complained about abrupt shifting from a stopping position to first gear. He took the car for a drive and said that everything was OK and that I should come back in 6 months to a year when I need to replace my oil and other fluids. He also said that my tires were fine and did not need to to be rotated just yet. Total cost, zero dollars, and the mechanic refused to take any money. My BMW repair shop would have kept my car in for days and charged me thousands. This Midas repair shop is honest. My wife has been coming here for two years and is always happy with the service and cost. I will now be coming here too. read more

Very bad experience with my last oil change. Left my 2015 Audi Q5 on a Saturday morning for a routine oil change then went to work. Picked up the car before the shop closed. Before I got home the oil filter popped and my whole engine block was covered in hot oil that messed up my serpentine belt and almost ruined my pistons. Turns out the used 2 oil filter seals instead of the required 1. Had to get the car towed to another shop since there do not operate on weekends. They asked me to come over for a payment reversal of $94 and that the owner will soon contact me to help me out with the cost from the other shop yet 3 weeks after charges still remained. I called them several times to follow up and I keep getting empty promises. Contacted my bank to cancel credit card charges. I definitely do not recommend this place. I think if you can't get a simple oil change right, you should not be in business. read more

The worst experience, I will never use Beverly Hills Midas again. Yesterday I went to the Midas Store in Beverly Hills to fix a tire punctured by a small nail. The receptionist, very rude and the person who attended, tried to force me to buy a tire when all I needed was a patch. They invoked the law of tires (?) And could not make that arrangement (only solution: buy, their expensive tires). I had to leave and they charged me a high sum for just changing the tire, my tire never fixed it. Finally, I found another store nearby, where they fixed everything for only $ 20 and always very friendly. Midas of Breverly Hills always presses you to buy additional services and inventing extra charges that are not necessary or required. The worst experience, is like an expensive trap go there. read more

I took my car here for squeaky brakes and was quoted $758 for new pads, rotors in the front and resurfacing of the rotors in the rear. I wanted to get a second opinion because this seemed outrageous...and I was right. I took it to another mechanic and he quoted me $160 for parts and labor and said I didn't need new rotors! I will NEVER take my car to Midas again. And you shouldn't either. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I took my 2003 VW Jetta here because it was leaking power steering fluid. The guys checked it out and told me that my power steering pump AND hose were leaking and needed to be replaced, which was going to cost $1,100.00. I then took it to the VW dealership immediately afterward to get a second opinion because I did not trust the man I spoke to. After the VW dealership looked at it, it was determined that the power steer switch needed to be replaced, NOTHING was leaking. I do not understand how Midas tried to fool me into thinking that something was leaking. Anyways, Midas tried to lie to me about something being wrong on my car that was never wrong just to charge me more money. These places should be put out of business. read more

Charged me $100 to replace the socket in my headlight, which according to them meant taking apart the entire assembly, thus the $100. Actually, they just clipped the wires on the socket,popped a new one in ( maybe not sure, as you will see) and spliced the wires together. Weren't too friendly when I asked them about this either. Well, this fix lasted about 3 months, before it started flickering. I played with the wires and fixed if for another couple months. Finally it went out. I took it to real mechanic, who fixed it for me in a few minutes and did it for FREE. He said that a connector was cracked, which was probably the problem the whole time. read more

When I checked my car out of the body shop, the manager told me my oil pan gasket was leaking and needed replacement. I passed that on to the guys at Midas and they told me they couldn't cconfirm the leak until I got my engine steam cleaned, which I did. ($60!). Took it back and they told me to bring it back in a week and the location of the leak would be obvious. I waited 2 weeks, during which time my car continued to visibly leak. Took the car back and guess what? They told me I needed to have my engine steam cleaned AGAIN so they could locate te leak. If you have ever hard of this kind of diagnostics, I guess you will want to take you car to Midas. read more

This was probably the worst car repair experience I've ever had. I spent about $1400 on repair work. A few days later I had to come back to replace the part they put in. The replacement still didn't resolve the issue, and I discovered later when getting new tires at a different shop that this Midas forgot to put my wheel locks back on. When I told them I was 12 miles away because that's where I live, they asked me when I would be by to pick it up. They offered to mail them to me when I objected to driving over to get them. Then when I did come over, the owner asked why I didn't just pay to have them replace my tires. Disclaimer: The owner did credit me $100 for his staff not putting the locks back on. That did make for odd timing, though, to ask me to give them a positive review on Yelp. A few weeks later, the replacement part still wasn't working. The owner promised to put in a factory part instead, but he had to order it. I told him that I wanted the box the part came in, after speaking with a dealer service rep about what problems I had been facing. I didn't hear from the owner or his staff for a week, in spite of my calling and leaving messages. Finally, when the part arrived, it was a rebuilt part, not a new factory part. When I complained because that's not what I was promised, the owner said it was a perfectly good part. I finally just gave up. The part is still not working right, and I just don't have the energy to deal with these people any more. read more

Had a great experience here... after checking many places for prices for brakes, I chose Midas, they did an awesome job, up the initial check of the brakes, they said I didn't even need new brakes, and just needed to clean and re adjust rear brakes, balance and rotate tires and a new air filter! I know nothing about the inner-workings of my Toyota, but I do know that my Toyota dealer quoted me an outrageous price for a repair, so for poops and giggles I called this Midas, as it's close to my house. The guys laughed and said it probably didn't need to cost that much, so I brought it in. I was fully prepared for them to say something like "Oh, yeah, but your kernner-flarning is busted so it's going to cost more," but they fixed it for a fraction of my other quote, and did it in half the time they estimated. I went there to have my oil changed b/c I had a cupon from the mail. When I got there I was told it would take them about 45 mins to have it done. I agreed on the timeframe and they pulled my car in right away so I didn't think it would take that long. It took them a total of 1hr and 45 mins to have my car completed and yes this was just for an oil change. The one thing that was good about them was that they were very accurate durning the vehicle inspection and pointed out the things that I need to have fixed. They were very curtious and took the time to explain everything to me I just wish it didn't take so long. read more

I took my car here for a oil and brake change - i have a lifetime warranty on brake pads - and during the brake change they told me i need to resurface the front and rear rotors. It ended up costing the same if i had got new brake pads only, it felt like they were scamming me. Frankly i don't plan on going back to this place or using the lifetime warranty on brakes ever again. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. My car had a break replacement warning light go off, so I brought my car here. I was told the breaks are fine but my battery needed to be replaced, they quoted me at almost $500 for them to replace my battery. I said no, and took my car to a mechanic who specializes in my make of car. This mechanic told me my battery was perfectly fine. The people at Midas were fully trying to take advantage of me. More than anything, they're just nice and honest people. I got my kia optima services, cost me $34 (and then there was a coupon to make it even less). Most car places try to charge you more, my car cost the exact price I was quoted. I even asked if I needed new tires because my car has 40,000 miles, they said no and there was no point for new tires. I was prepared to purchase new tires and they were just totally honest. Midas is a good value for an oil change, but you can do much better than their Beverly HIlls location. Sullen staff, always pushing the up-sell, frequently understaffed with long wait times. I recently started going to their Figueroa St. location just south of downtown, and I think it's much better. In terms of service itself, I think they've been perfectly fine. Definitely better than Jiffy Lube. I just think there are better Midas franchises within LA. read more

(I have no idea what Michael A gripe is about because $140 is the going rate for an alignment at the dealership so $110 is a deal for a Mercedes. Most other cars cost $60-$80 bucks.) I have been bringing my car here to Joel for a few years now and I have to say without question they are the best place! I discovered them a few years ago when I had a car issue and found Joel who has been the most fair, honest, and knowledgeable person I have found. Joel always explains what needs to be done and even shows me and my husband the parts that need to be replaced and what the issues are if I have any. I have sent many customers to them and they have been extremely happy with their service too. My last car I had Joel found a serious problem that the dealership missed and by him finding the issue it actually saved my life. It was a gas pedal problem. I came to Midas today after the urgent care at Cedars across the street. I noticed that my car was leaking oil (after an oil change 2 weeks ago). I think it was Rolando who first topped off my oil then they put my car on the lift with my sick mother in it because I didn't want to take her out of the car. They established that the drain plug was loose and sent me on my way no charge. It was very sweet and I recommend them for that. read more

Since going to Midas, I thought I was always getting the best service, and getting honest quotes regarding my car. Never did I think I was being over charged/work being done to my car was shabby work. Beginning March 2, I had my brakes and battery replaced. Even though I let things ride (my car not being finished in the period of time quoted, and wasn't worked on until I sat there watching them that my began to finally be finished, however I thought I am getting the best job done, and they will not try to take advantage of me. So after spending $700+ for that, my car stops 3 days later in beverly hills at 5pm. Being a female, Im freaking out because I just had a diagnostics, and replaced what was needed. I then had it towed again to midas, and they had it for another day to then tell me its the Alternator. Shocked, because I would think they will know if that needed to be replaced 3 days ago. At this moment, its not about the money, its the face that I need my car for work. However being a loyal customer I said, please go ahead. That was another $700+. I then get my car back and noticed when pulling it out of midas it was making this loud noise. I didn't think much of it until the second day. I drove back to Midas and Joel and I drove for 10 seconds and he goes- oh it sounds like the power steering. I said, what?? He said bring it back, and well do another diagnostics to see if this is the problem. I brought it back on Saturday, and while raising it- Joel and a short mechanic look at it for 3 minutes and come back and say its the power steering. I asked: How come you didn't tell me about this last time I was here??? It was making that noise when I left??? He said, "We didn't lift the car." Pathetic excuse. I asked how much? He goes $1625+. Im becoming fed up with how they approach this, I left and took it to the Lexus dealership, and spent an extra $2500 to get multiple hose replaced that were ripped due to their alternator work. So today- April 11, my car stops. My friend who knows about cars states it may be the starter. I am livid because when doing the alternator, if there is an issue with the starter, this should have been replaced with the alternator, as from what Lexus Dealership stated. They tie together. I called and spoke to kelly thinking maybe they will cut me some slack on the price knowing how much I spent and replaced- but no- it will be an extra $500+ with a $30 discount. Sadly, I believe I'm done with this place. Their mechanics are not experienced enough to replace or diagnose issues with all cars. Also, the alternator and power steering hose, after this I may have to report since I have the write up from the Lexus dealership. read more
