Do not go to this location. They fixed my car and the same thing broke and when I went back to them. They said that it's normal for it to break and that they needed to fix it again (mind you; I'd be charged) and that I also needed "other" things and they kept trying to force an oil change. Totally not trusting. I'm a woman and I truly felt taken advantage of. The guy at the front desk seemed so offended when I said that the same issue had happened again. He started saying well we recommended this and that and "you" denied it. He didn't ask me. He told me. I never denied anything. I wasn't told about anything else that needed to be done. He wasn't even there before it was a nice lady but he just kept saying the same thing over and over again. It was uncomfortable and awkward. He was so unhelpful and very untrusting. I was being kind and calm the whole time and he was on the defense as soon as I said the problem seemed like the same thing that they fixed before. I took my car and left and told him that I'm not paying again for something they fixed before. Why would I do that. So, it could break again. Not a good location and you'd think it would be because it's in Beverly Hills. Nope! I told all my co-workers & boss who makes tons of money; to never go there and it's sad because it's so close to our job. read more

Joel was the person at the front desk when I walked in today. He was on his cell phone I believe and very nonchalant when I walked in. It was a little more than an hour before close, and I arrived to get an oil change. I mentioned that I wanted to use a coupon from their website. He stated that it had to be printed out because his manager collects them. I said, you guys don't accept the copy from the website (electronic wallet)? He said, no. I said okay. I proceeded to walk back to my car to call a different location in order to confirm the validity of the claim. Was this a one off situation or is this a rule across the board? The person who answered at the other location said they indeed accept electronic copies that can be scanned, and that the paper copy is not necessary as long as you have the code from the coupon. He said, though each Midas is independently owned, the requirement for the paper copy sounds absured since they only need the code from the coupon. With this information, I walked back in to inform Joel of what I learned and asked if the requirement is specific to this location. He stumbled over his words and began to say what other locations accept without answering if that was truly the rule for this location. Especially since the code is all that is needed in order to process the coupon. He eventually, said "yea." I told him that was rather inconvenient in 2019, but his attitude was response confirmed he did not care. I think he just didnt want to accept the coupon. The only reason I went to this location is because it's less than 10mins from my job and I was unable to make it to the one closes to my house before they close. Not a good experience. Now that I'm posting this on Yelp, I see that it says Kelly is the manager. So, Kelly, is what Joel said, true? You require a hard copy in order to use coupons at your location? Please inform. I went in for an oil change with not even 18,000 miles on my car and Kelly somehow conned me into purchasing 4 new tires. Needless to say my husband was furious when he heard about it, and went on to tell me that he gone into the same Midas twice previously, each time getting a hard sell for 4 new tires. Wisely, he got a second opinion at a reputable tire store, each time hearing from the tire professionals that tires were definitely not needed. When my husband went back to confront her, reminding her about the two previous times that she was wrong about him needing tires, and asking her why she pushed his wife into buying 4 new tires, when they had less than 18,000 miles, Kelly showed absolutely no remorse. In short, a long history of trying to cheat, finally scoring on me that knows just about nothing about cars. read more

I regret not reading the reviews until after I had already left my car there for service. I asked them to replace my running light, they did not. It cost me $70 for my oil change. I will not be returning. They're not forthcoming about their prices and do not explain things fully until after you sign. They will take advantage of you if you are a female. Had an appointment but still had super slow service , & so many cars ahead of me. The employees there had the worst customer service! They act like they are doing you a favor when you ask them something. They had customers without masks during a global pandemic inside their office & they did not even tell them to put on a mask so much for safety! My experiences here have always been pretty dicey. I had this review drafted for months but never posted until now (reason? See "UPDATE" section below). I take my car here for regular oil changes because of the convenience of the location from my apartment and that these oil changes include tire rotation and a detailed checklist of all courtesy inspections (under hood, under vehicle, fluids, etc.) First time, they reported back that I needed to replace my cracked tires and that I desperately needed a brake flush due to the high ppm level reading. Tires they were right, needed to be replaced...though I found MUCH better deals elsewhere so I ended up declining their offer. What's odd is that the brake flush that they said was extremely urgent (and would cost $$$ because they also recommended alignment, etc.) I decided to neglect until the next oil change. At that oil change, no call-out about the brake flush. 3rd oil change most recently, still no call-out. Well, my brake warning light went on. Annoyed that I was not alerted at my last oil change a month ago of any issues with the brakes that I should be careful of, I still took my car into Midas for their "45-point brake inspection" (which costs 20 bucks). I was looking at about $1000 to get the things they said I needed to have done! Deciding I wanted a 2nd opinion, I signed for AAA on the spot and got my car towed to another mechanic, who quoted half the cost, specified what truly needed to be done (i.e. no rotor replacement that Midas had recommended)...and did an amazing job. Just be careful taking a car here for repairs. UPDATE Found out this weekend by a service center that my engine is in dire condition. Just had an oil change at Midas a couple of weeks ago...shouldn't this have been flagged by the courtesy checklist they are supposed to run through with each oil change?? I swear they just love checking all the green boxes as quickly as possible and moving on... I will NOT be returning. read more

I called in and asked for a quote. I needed four tires, an oil change, front and rear brakes to be serviced, windshield wipers, and whatever services they recommended as for my vehicle just hit 100k miles. I was told I would receive a call back after the gentleman asked me the year make model of my vehicle etc. I waited for a couple hours and never received a call back. The following day I still haven't received a call back I found American tire depot in Hollywood on sunset. I wish I had found it sooner. I was able to get all these services done within my budget and very fast I recommend anyone who needs to service their vehicle to give American tire depot in Hollywood a call very good and professional service and someone who cares and helps keep you in your budget. read more

Honestly didn't want to have to write this review because typically I do receive great customer service but after the last experience I don't plan on returning.... Unfortunately back in 9/2017, I had my front brakes fully replaced on my 2012 Honda Civic (brand new front brake pads, brand new front rotors, brake system flushed & had new fluid replaced & rear brakes cleaned) leaving Midas paying them right under $600.00. I was told this would cover lifetime warranty since I got them replaced at Midas. Today, 11 months later, I take my car in saying my brakes are squeaking very bad and I wasn't sure why since I just had a huge maintenance done not even a year ago. I was told by Joel that I needed new brake pads, rotors had to be resurfaced and back brakes had to be cleaned/adjusted again. Once I asked what was covered under warranty he said just parts, no labor. The total fee was going to be $229.00. I drove only 9,000 miles since my last brake job (9/2017)-- after reading reviews, on average new brakes last a minimum of 25,000 miles, most last longer than that. When I called and spoke with them about the low mileage, they said its due to the area I live in (Los Angeles) so my brakes will go out. Doesn't seem accurate that brand new brakes don't even last a year after paying $600.00 and then the warranty for labor only lasts up to 3 months after the initial repair.... Not worth going through their 'lifetime warranty' when brakes don't last even a year. I would never recommend getting brakes done at Midas-- the quality of work/parts is pretty poor and unreliable. Staff is very nice at this location but the quality of work is not realistic nor safe. read more

My Range Rover went in for oil change. They destroyed the plug/ cap and all the oil leaked out in my garage that night. Very bad. Had to have it towed to dealer. Another time they said they topped up a fluid on my 12 cyl MBZ The following week on way to Santa Barbara the coolant light came on. I stopped in Thousand oaks and dealer said there was no leak and filled the coolant. Sloppy work by habit. Keep your nice cars away from them. read more

Whoever I spoke to on the phone told me it would be a $25 inspection fee, but when I arrived, Greg simply had me turn on my car so he could hear it start. Do NOT go to this Midas. Went in for an oil change and asked that my tire pressure get checked as well. After payment I was told that a myriad of issues needed to be fixed with my car, a Honda civic. The first thing that jumped at me was that my belt needed to be replaced, which is funny because my civic has a timing chain not a timing belt which does not need to be replaced. Then I was told over numerous other fixes that needed to be made and they did not hesitate in telling me a price as well. The following day my tire pressure light comes on. My after visit paperwork stated this was checked and this was also my personal request initially. The tires reflected 20 PSI each, but it was checked off saying that it was inspected. DO. NOT. COME. Didn't even apologize to six people waiting that she was late (and someone else was obviously late too since no other employees were there). Needed a Battery swap, super simple. Called on a Thursday and was told they needed to order the battery but could have it by that afternoon, I make an appointment for 5 days later. I show up at my appointment and am told the battery isn't arriving until that day, 3 hours from then and that I can wait if I want. Guy (same guy that made my appointment) had absolutely zero empathy or sense of fault, never said 'sorry' once. It's whack they didn't have the battery but at the very least they could have called before I drove there during rush hour. I left and went to the nearby Just Tires, they didn't have the battery either but got it delivered in 30 minutes, took me without an appointment, and cost $100 less than Midas. read more

took my car in a month ago for a simple oil change and battery replacement and I ended up spending $1200 in repairs. Not only that, when I picked the car up, all the gauges were reading wrong and the "Check Engine" light was STILL on. Not to mention they had forgotten to replace a bunch of broken lights that I had already told them about. Took it back a second to fix that. Got the car returned..."Check Engine Light" was still on, and they didn't seem to care. Not only that, but the car was knocking and barely running. They quoted me ANOTHER $1200 to fix it. Screw that. Midas might be cheap, but it's just worth saving yourself the trouble and taking it somewhere else. UPDATE: Recently got a message from a user on this site accusing me of being cheap, and saying this is why I took my car here. To that user: Someone's financial situation is not dependent on how well Midas does their job. I own a Volvo. That alone says that I am actually willing to pay A LOT for manufacturer problems. HOWEVER, when I take my car for a simple battery replacement, I expect that to be done. Next time, I'll go find a monkey in the jungle. He would probably do a better job. read more

My experience with this establishment: They told me that my "outer tie rod" and "lower control arms" were broken. They said it would cost $800 dollars to repair. I wasn't ready to pay such a huge sum so I decided to get a second opinion. A relative of mine drove the car to a dealer called Davis Bros in Culver city and they checked the car out and said there was nothing wrong with the outer tie rod and lower control arms. I was shocked about the above. And so just to be on the safe side I went to yet another dealership called Pinky's Automotive. They told me exactly what Davis Bros did: The outer tie rod and lower control arms were not broken. This Midas wanted to charge me $800 dollars for two repairs that were completely made up. To say the very least: I recommend that nobody patronizes this business. And, personally, I will never give my business to a Midas again, anywhere. read more

Took my car in for a quick tire repair...picked up a nail somewhere and had a slow leak. Arrived shortly after they opened @ 8am and was done and on the road in less than 20 minutes. AWESOME! I also had a couple small white paint scuffs on the front bumper from someone backing into me the other day...the guys cleaned the white paint off my Merlot colored car! Another AWESOME! Thanks Joel! I live right up the street, so it's convenient to get my oil changed there. However, last time I went they told me that my front passenger tire hub and bearing needed to be replaced to the tune of $375. I decided to shop around. I took my car to two other places. Both places said that there were no problems with the hub and bearing and that if there were I would hear a loud grinding sound. I don't know much about cars, except for the fact that the gas is on the right, but I do know when I'm being taking advantage of. The guys at Midas are nice and that's the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars. read more

This was the shadiest most uncomfortable and most dishonest oil change I have had since I started driving 22 years ago! Do not use if you care about your car. 1) I tried to book an appt online for 5:30 pm (showed available) the next week and got a "we will send you a confirmation in 1 hour message". 3 hours later I call the guy and he says "oh yah that's not available, leave your car at lunch and we'll have you ready by end of day." Ok fine I'll put up for the Uber back to work and the shop. 2) I had a coupon from their own website for synthetic oil change and tire rotation for fifty bucks and told them on the phone. I get there and the story changes to "your car takes extra oil and you're car needs a fancier filter." OK now we are up to 82 bucks. My car is a midsize 6 cylinder sedan and no one before has told me such. 3) I show the guy the coupon I clipped into my iPhone wallet and he says "I can't accept that, you have to print it out." Dude, it gave me the option to clip it off your own website. 4) Closing time is posted at 6 pm and the guy starts leaving me threatening messages at 4:45 that if I don't pick up the car by 5:30 which is when they close they will not wait for me. I get there 5:38 freaking out with the LA traffic and Uber etc to wait for the guy with all posted times saying they close at 6 and the mechanics still working on cars. 5) I go through the trouble of printing a paper coupon at work and guy says "I can't accept this because it doesn't say it's specific for this location." I was about to blow a fuse and he finally says "I will make an exception this time." Yes, thanks a lot for doing me this huge favor, buddy. To discount me $15 compared to the dealership with all the hassle you put me through. 6) I made it a point to confirm before and after that a tire rotation is included as stated on paperwork. He said "yes" before and "they did" after. It's even marked on my inspection sheet. I get home to find the same marked tires (I had recognizable scratch marks on my front two and they have not been moved!). I needed rotation to keep my COSTCO tire warranty going. Given how dishonest this place is, I now have doubts whether they placed synthetic oil in my car or even changed the filter. How could I trust them. Never again. I'm going back to the dealership next time and paying an extra 15. Do not use this place if you care about your sanity or your car. read more

There's a reason there are multiple one-star reviews for this place. I, unfortunately, didn't heed them, and for the sake of convenience, went anyway. Do not be like me. My wife and I bought a new, 2019 Kia where we live in Florida, prior to beginning a very long trip around the U.S. with our kids. By the time we reached the L.A. area, it was time for an oil change. We were staying in Beverly Hills, close to this Midas shop on Wilshire, and -- given that Midas is a known entity -- selected them for a simple oil change and tire rotation. We filled up with gas right before heading there, and I did my usual gas-station check for leaking fluids, nails in tires, dents, scratches, etc. Not a long, involved check, but enough of a glance to pick up something obvious, I'd like to think. When we dropped off the Kia at this Midas location on a Saturday in late June, we were told it would take about 45 minutes for the oil change and rotation. My wife and I went for a walk around the area, returning about 50 minutes later. When we came back, the car was still on the lift, and the tires were not on it. We sat down in the waiting area. As if scripted by a (bad) Hollywood writer, the mechanic came in to the waiting area, whispered to the manager in front of us (making sure we noticed), and then the two walked out to look at our car, which we could see through the window in the waiting area. My hackles were raised. But what, I wondered, could they possibly invent as a problem on a brand new car? After all, anything wrong would be under warranty, and they wouldn't profit from it anyway, since we'd just take it to Kia. The manager came back and asked me to join them in the shop, where he pointed out -- surprise! -- a screw in the right rear tire (prior to rotation). The screw was just so unfortunately placed as to make it impossible to patch, I'm told. Illegal, even, in the state of California. I'm from Florida; what do I know? "I was hoping it didn't have a leak, but it does," he said with a well-rehearsed, sorrowful voice. We gazed upon the dying tire with water smeared over the screw. I looked up at him and waited for the pitch. "I don't have this size in stock, but --" and I stopped him right there. I'd read this script. He saw our Florida license plate and figured he had us over a barrel. He would either have a place to refer us to with that tire in stock (a friend, no doubt), or better yet, could sell us two (or four) new tires of some other acceptable size that he just happened to have in stock. I'll be perfectly clear: I have ZERO proof that Midas at 8537 Wilshire Blvd put a screw in my tire -- pretty much the only thing that I couldn't have had repaired under warranty by Kia. I didn't witness what happened, and when I accused them directly, they denied it. But I do have damn good intuition plus two other bits of circumstantial evidence: First, I had checked the car fewer than ten minutes before bringing it to them. When I told the manager this, I got the standard, "Well, you can pick up a screw or nail anywhere," answer. This is very true. But after driving some 3000 miles without incident across the entire country on roads of varying quality, let us reflect on the probability of picking up a screw (in an un-patchable location on the visible OUTSIDE tread edge of the tire) in the 2.3 miles between the gas station on Pico and this Midas. Here's the second thing I have to add to my body of circumstantial evidence: The "Midas Touch Courtesy Check" sheet they filled out -- which I have kept -- shows perfect tread on all four tires. It also shows 34 PSI in all four tires. Then, at the bottom, is written "nail in right rear tire". If I had an actively leaking hole from a screw (it was a screw, not a nail), how was the PSI still the same as the other three tires? Why is there a green box checked for EVERY TIRE in the "Wear Pattern/Damage" section of the Courtesy Check? Would YOU check a green box for a tire with a leaking puncture in it? Here's how it ended: I asked them to put the tires back on the car and told them I would not need them for anything else. We paid, then took the vehicle to another auto shop, which was happy to plug the tire for a reasonable price. That plug got us through nearly another 6000 MILES, from L.A. to Canada, through Yellowstone, into the Great Plains, across the Mississippi, and back to Florida. We got home last night. I wrote a review of praise earlier for the guys that plugged our tire. This is the flip side of that story. I'll repeat for clarity because I understand the strength of my accusation: I did not witness anyone at Midas at 8537 Wilshire purposefully damaging my tire, and they deny they put a screw in it. But I would bet the car itself that they did it. Stay away, especially if you have an out-of-state plate. read more

This location staff was not helpful to change the oil for me due to coupon being unprinted. I came with my children with the emailed coupon and we had to go to library for the print and when we came back he told us that they were closing. I am very unhappy about this experience. read more

I've been taking my Jeep here for years and they are the best. Always honest, always the best prices and so nice. Work very quickly and communicate honestly - they make suggestions but also share what can wait and don't try to price gouge you. Joel is great at customer service and they quote significantly cheaper than the dealership and offer better service and communication! Unacceptable customer service. Due to employee's failure to live up to a committment she made, I am now without a vehicle. It is disingenuous for Midas to post a consumer relations number on the corporate website when all the agents do is record and relay information. That isn't customer service at all: it's simply a human answering machine. UPDATE 1: I spoke personally with the OWNER of this location. He refused to answer specific questions and tried obfuscating instead of providing honest and complete answers. When that failed, he then tried deflecting responsibility. When that failed, he simply said he could "do no more." A 2017 review from another customer states all you need to know: "The owner Amos, is a disrespectful business owner with no business morals." UPDATE 2: And the saga continues. Another repair shop told me that Midas did not do an alignment after the steering rack was installed (and I was told the steering rack replacement included this necessary service) and that the newly-installed power steering pump is leaking. Avoid this shop at all costs. Additionally, I have spoken to Midas Consumer Affairs many times and now they suddenly "cannot find" documentation of my many calls. These guys are very honest. I took my car in because my back windows would not unlock and my front side mirrors would not work. I thought that I had an electrical short or mechanical problem and was expecting to pay well over a thousand dollars to repair my BMW. The gentleman at the counter looked at the window and pulled out his screwdriver. In less than two minutes, he pulled out a piece of metal trim that got lodged under the power window control device. Everything worked again. The Midas mechanic then looked at my engine and checked the transmission because I had complained about abrupt shifting from a stopping position to first gear. He took the car for a drive and said that everything was OK and that I should come back in 6 months to a year when I need to replace my oil and other fluids. He also said that my tires were fine and did not need to to be rotated just yet. Total cost, zero dollars, and the mechanic refused to take any money. My BMW repair shop would have kept my car in for days and charged me thousands. This Midas repair shop is honest. My wife has been coming here for two years and is always happy with the service and cost. I will now be coming here too. read more
