Great communication, great work, great price, speedy service. Stopped by initially 6:15 PM Friday. Though front office was empty, Clint (manager and also mechanic) was brought to the front within 30 seconds. He understood my concern right away, and asked that I report back first thing in the AM, as they had several cars to complete that evening. My concern was minor, and I was glad to be given clear information about the shop's queue. Arrived at 0715 (in the morning, I switch to military time). Clint arrived at 0721, and explained he would take a few minutes to turn on the lights / reboot his computer. At 0725, he assigned me a mechanic, and gave the fellow details of my exact concern, which we recalled from the previous evening. The actual concern was installing a rubber insulator onto a tailpipe bracket. For whatever reason, the insulator needed to be stretched to install it. Skillfully, with one mechanic using a pry bar to hold the pipe, and another installing the insulator, the job was done in a few minutes. I checked my watch. I have used Fairfax Midas for several years to replace brakes, mufflers, etc. and have always been very satisfied. This week, however, I brought my car in for major repair. I had just received an outrageous estimate from somewhere else, and I hoped Fairfax Midas could help me out. They did all the repairs and saved me $2,000. These guys STOLE my brand new Michelin tire after I went there for an oil change. They replaced my Honda's struts charged around $600 for it without even asking for my permission , which is ok but STEALING is something which is not tolerable. They were over friendly that day which should have made me suspicious .They replaced my brand new Michelin bought at Costco with a very old worn out Non-Michelin tire and I didn't realize it until after 2 weeks when my whole car Started vibrating while braking... NEVER MIDAS...NEVER AGAIN....I told all my friends, colleagues and family...None of us are going back to MIDAS ever again..SHAME ON YOU GUYS !!! Did my emissions and safety inspection here. The work was done quickly and the staff was polite in the front desk, but they just made a mess in my car. Big dirty finger print on my driver seat fabrics, and greasy black foot print mark on my driver side carpet.... now I gotta use my own time and dime to clean it. going to the Shell gas station next time... read more

I have been going to this Midas for about 6 months for routine oil changes, inspections, brake repairs, etc and have found Bill (manager) to be very personable and very focused on customer service. They do pretty good quality work and don't gouge you on the price. They will even give you a coupon credit even if you forget the coupon at home. I brought my vehicle here for an oil change and the place seemed fine so I then returned for my state safety inspection. After an excessively long wait (2+ hours) I was told that my '15 Jeep Renegade with only 32k miles failed the state inspection because the rotors were too thin. They told me the brake pads passed, but the rotors failed. This set off alarm bells in my head - why would the rotors wear out prior to the pads? They tried to sell me tires, brake pads and rotors for almost $1200. I refused and said I'd take it elsewhere for the work. They affixed a failed inspection sticker that was dated prior to the date the inspection was done on (I had to make them correct this). They then put my wheel lock key on the passenger seat, instead of in the back where it had been, and left grease all over the seat. I took the vehicle to a Meineke for a free brake inspection and was told that my brakes and rotors were fine and they could not sell me any repairs. In fact their calipers read all 4 of my rotors as near new, and they told me I probably have 20-30k more miles on them. This particular shop didn't do safety inspections so I then drove to a nearby Exxon and asked for a second safety inspection to be performed. My vehicle passed and I was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with my brakes. Avoid this dishonest shop. read more

Dropped my car off for an oil change and was told an hour and a half. Two hours later, I call THEM, only to be told they were just pulling it in and it would be another 30 minutes. 20 minutes later I show up and they haven't started, because they had a question about which oil to add. They were trying to charge an extra $50 for synthetic oil. Previous oil changes had been $5 with a coupon. Forget that. Will not be returning. read more

Worst service in years!! I have multiple issues with these guys: 1. 2015 - they tell me I need new windshield wipers ( the ones I bought and replaced a week before) 2. 2015 - they tell me they flushed the coolant and topped the fluids yet nothing is done - 3. December 2015 - came in as my windows wouldn't roll up/down - after 1.5 hour and $60 they told me that it's power window switch. It didn't sound right so I looked at it myself - and switch was fine - it was the power cable running to the switch - they didn't even bother testing as they would know no power comes in. Spoke to the manager - he told me he is not going to do anything - I feel like he told me "f..y, your problem!". I wrote to the regional manager and after 3 months of going back and forth they finally refunded me. 4. January 2017 - I decided to give them another chance - boy, was I wrong!!! - They needed to replace the bearing but in the process broke the bushing (which is hard to do). I had to wait 3 more days for the car to be fixed as part was being delivered. Manager tried to deny me the rental and tell me that there is no rental open nearby (on Saturday at 1pm?!!) -so I told him to look up the Dulles airport location forcing them to book it - even after that he didn't pay the rental in full - only insurance - so I could even get the car. Again - feel like manager is telling me " f y, your problem" I wrote to their headquarters and VPs n Florida -but I guess they don't care as I have not heard from them since - even with letters marked "Confidential" and CCing all the VPs so it doesn't get thrown away. I am definitely avoiding MIDAS like plague - It's not worth time /effort and how they treat you absolutely worst!!! read more

I will never recommend this place to anyone... may be oil change once in a while is fine but i would not trust this shop for any other car service after having ao much time loss and spending money on my brake issue ...which is still not resolved after multiple visits and spending so much money for their service read more

Expecting to wait 90 minutes to get my inspection done at shell down the street, i gave these guys a call and they said they could take me right then. I drove to Midas less than a mile away and was immediately assisted by the friendly staff there. They took my car and within 15-20 minutes it was done! Now heres the best part.. I take my wallet out to pay and they completed my inspection for FREE! I will definitely be back to Midas for my auto needs. read more

To be honest I was a little skeptical bringing my Jeep to be serviced here after reading a few reviews. I don't trust many mechanics that I haven't met before to work on my modified lifted 98 TJ. I was very impressed with this particular shop from the management down to the mechanics who worked on my Jeep several different times in the last month. The manager John is very professional and also quite easy to talk to. Built a rapport quickly with John the manager along with big John, Jeff and Dennis who do all the work on the vehicles brought in. They executed an awesome diagnostic process on my ride and fixed it accordingly. Nothing extra. I had my safety inspection done as well. Went smoothly. Was recommended a couple things to help my suspension. Parts and labor was very reasonable. Matter of fact the manager John gave me a little discount and it was my first visit ever to the place. These folks are fair with prices and don't mark up the parts you do decide to buy from them to much. And then I went in to have my alternator replaced and I've never been happier. Cost me half the price I was expecting so how can you go wrong with this shop. They have a new customer for live because of the stellar work they have performed on my Jeep. Four times I took my Jeep there in less than a month and each time I was impressed. Car was clean. No fingerprints or mess. I feel like I got a steal taking my Jeep here instead of the dealership or some mom and pop operation elsewhere. Well done fellas! I wrote to corporate headquarters and the office that sends me coupons i the mail for this Midas shop. I received no response from either. I have been having my vehicles repaired for over 30 years and this is the first time that i have experienced such total INCOMPETENCE. I took my truck to this shop after the engine light came on. I waited 5 days for them to figure out what was wrong. I finally got a call and the gaskets needed to be replaced. It took two more days to get the truck back, the excuse was the location was hard to get to. The truck did not run particularly well after the 'repair' the thing I noticed the most was the engine light was no longer on. A short time later the truck was not starting well. I suspected the starter motor, I have had to replace them before. I took it to the shop, they put in a new battery. A short time after that my truck would not start and left me stranded. Luckily for me, it happened at my work and a co-worker suggested a shop close by. The truck was towed to this location. They diagnosed the problem within a few hours and the truck was fixed and available for pickup the next day. When i drove it off the lot the engine ran strong, power resumed to close to what it was when I bought it years ago. The starter motor had been ruined by fluid leaking onto it from a bad gasket. MIDAS FAILED to repair my gaskets. MIDAS FAILURE resulted in my starter motor going bad. MIDAS FAILED to diagnose a bad starter motor, replaced a perfectly good battery. MIDAS FAILURE resulted in me having to pay another shop $1500 on top of the $1500 I had ALREADY PAID them to fix the same problem. ($230 to replace a good battery too) , did i mention they were INCOMPETENT? I cannot recommend strongly enough, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! read more

Took my Pontiac G5 to a different repair shop for a VA safety inspection which it failed for exhaust and tires. Was quoted around $1000 to fix exhaust because they couldn't do repairs only replace and another $900 for tires. Took car to Midas and glad I did. First, I ordered new tires on line and had them delivered directly to Midas for install and alignment. Also asked them to inspect exhaust, which they did and indicated they could repair for under $500 saving me $$$$. Then, counter person (Dalton) found me an online coupon saving me more $$!! Dalton also explained to me the difference between paying Midas for parts and buying them online and having Midas install only (biggest difference is warranty but parts quality can be an issue as well) and he was also able to get me 12 months same as cash on my repairs. Wait time was a little longer than I thought but that is because they didn't want to use a gasket they had in stock (looked old) and had to order a new one which came in same day. Waiting area is small but there are places to go nearby to spend time waiting. Lastly, they do not currently have a certified inspection mechanic so you cannot currently get a VA inspection done here. That should change in the near future. All in all, I had a great experience at this Midas and will bring my vehicle back here in the future.
