Took my car in for an alignment ($120 with $20 off)... They took 1 hour. when i fianlly seen them take my car off the lift, they test drove it for like 30 seconds and came back. I drove the car, which was not aligned at all, and they recommended parts so that the alignment could "hold". After they "aligned it" and charged me. I still paid unforntauly but that service was dog poop. Do not recommend. read more

Last time I went to Midas in Haverstraw, it was a good experience. Was taken, without appointment, for a car inspection. Service was quick and accommodating. Now that my wife needed her car inspected I decided to go there again. This time, even though they had no business going on at the time, I was told to make an appointment for 2 hours later so I did. When I did get it done though, the crook charged me $37 for a $10 inspection. The dummy gave me the wrong receipt and I paid cash so I didn't go back for a refund. Guess it's a weekend thing, but was nothing like when I went their last time. I was just charged $10 that time. read more

MARIO FLORES IS A NIGHTMARE OWNER - PLEASE READ - DO NOT USE! I want to start by saying that I have used Midas for 10+ years and have loved them... Until now. My girlfriend and I were driving upstate for a vacation when her car started to shake and make terrible noises. We pulled over, turned the car off and tried to turn it back on to no avail. We were towed to a garage who noticed that there was absolutely no oil in the car, which was super weird bc my girlfriend had her oil changed recently at Midas. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that when the oil was last changed, either the plug was screwed on too tight or the wrong size was put on. As a result the threading was completely striped, the plug had fallen out while we were driving, all of the oil had leaked out and it destroyed the engine. The car was then towed to a Honda for evaluation, and they came to the same conclusion. They quoted us $6500 for a new engine. We reached out to the owner, explained the situation, and he had been avoiding us ever since. Everytime my girlfriend calls, there is no answer, or he will abruptly get off of the phone saying he'd call her later. He never called back. When we speak to other people at Midas, we are told he has called us back and left messages, which is a lie (on the part of the owner). My girlfriend had back surgery coming up, with lots of pre-op appointments, and cannot be without a car now. We have had to pay hundreds out of pocket for a rental while waiting in vain for a call back. This has been an extremely difficult time for us in general, and this owner's heartlessness and complete neglect had turned this situation into an absolute nightmare. Shame on him, and anyone else, who would run a business or treat anyone like this. I implore all readers to take their business elsewhere. It is important to note that this happened at the Nyack location, but all roads lead back to Mario. He owns this location as well, so if you bring your car here and they do something to cause significant damage, Mario will leave you high and dry. Steer clear!! read more

Terrible service and not safe whatsoever! Drove 6 months with brand new tires that didn't have TPMS changed!!! Costing me $300 plus to correct at another auto repair shop... unreal - while Midas had me return for two alignments.... Ugh which ok, so the sensors didn't come with tires.. I get it but at least have the decency to educate me and allow me to repair my vehicle to be in compliance with safety standards!!!!! read more

Visited this location for an alignment after having a steering rack replaced. They must have been in a rush to get home because they completely butchered the job and somehow left my car in worse condition than when I brought it in. Went back for them to correct it a few days later and it still wasn't 100% aligned! Extremely inconvenient and overpriced. I Ultimately took it to another shop down the road to get it repaired (third time the charm ) and they properly aligned my vehicle. Take your business elsewhere! read more

I was very pleased with service and prices. The last time I bought tires (from Mavis), I had a bad experience. I thought I would try Midas this time. I was pleasantly surprised with the service. I made an appointment on line, and they called within thirty minutes to confirm, as advertised and was told to come right in. I was addressed right as I walked in the store and my car was taken back right away. I went shopping across the street and was called in no time with the results. I needed new tires. He quoted me some prices and my tires were done in no time at all. I was treated like a human and not a number. I left happy knowing I got the best deal for the tires and that I am safe now. My right rear tire on my new Subaru Outback blew out on the Palisades Interstate Parkway and could not be repaired. I managed to limp to the Midas Tire in Haverstraw on the spare and they quickly replaced both my rear tires and had us back on the road in an hour and a half. Scammy without a doubt. For a tire they said the cheapest they could do was 84 but i told them i got the front passenger replaced for 60 at mavis they said "no you didnt because theyre both worn" so i took him back and showed the tire was less than a week old and he tried saying "oh i only meant one side" -.- no you didnt. Then he quoted me 380 and change for a caliper. I got that done plus more work for 360 elsewhere. This isnt the first. Please SAVE YOUR MONEY. Theyre scammy and a crazy rip off. Avoided a major scam at Midas today. My inspection was up, so I went in to get it checked. I failed on tires (which were less than 1 year old), rear brakes (less than 2 years old), and the parking brake. Estimated repair: $919. I refused to pay, and since I failed they removed the sticker and told me the cops were out since it was the beginning of the month, so I should be careful since I was driving an uninspected vehicle. I said I was headed to hyundai and I was warned that they would find the same things and i should just take care of it now. I left and on the way out met a man who was being charged $600 due to a failed inspection. I went to my local mechanic, he did a full inspection, checked everything they claimed was wrong and said everything was fine. He charged me $10. read more

The $19.99 oil change & tire rotation is a scam. They get your car on the lift and try to sell you everything under the sun. Transmission Flush, New Brakes, New Struts, the list goes on. I was told I needed brakes with out them removing a tire! So that brings me to the fact my tires were never rotated. So if you do go make sure they rotate your tires. My wife and I have been using their service for awhile guess it's time to move on. read more

I brought my car here for an oil change about six months ago, and like the other reviewer said, they tried to sell me a lot of extra stuff, new tires, new battery, engine flush, and on and on. The man working there was very sales-y. I did buy new tires and also purchased an engine flush. For my next oil change, I went somewhere else, and they tried to sell me an engine flush, but I insisted it had already been done. Now, yesterday I brought my car to yet another business to have an oil change, and they too told me that my engine had never been flushed. NEVER BEEN FLUSHED! So, Midas took my money, and my time, but never performed the work. As an aside, I am also not happy with the tires they sold me and plan on buying new ones. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life. Avoid this place at all cost. Went in to renew my inspection and left less than 30 seconds in with 15 second of that time waiting for the receptionist to finish his phone call. Unprofessional. Asked about the wait time and got a response saying that it would take 45 min to go through the whole car for inspection purposes. Is that what I asked?!?! So I asked again but received the same answer with a whole lot of attitude. If you don't want to work then don't. I'm sure someone else would love to be doing what your doing with a smile on their face. Dude is just lucky I wasn't in a mood to waste my time with him. Best experience I have ever had at an auto repair shop! I Usually go to my personal mechanic, but saw ad for great price and decided to call. Best decision! My first time there- I called, was told to come right in, no wait, great service, car ran so smoothly when they were done! On the month of April 2014......NO STAR FOR THIS PLACE....... I am starting this review by just telling everybody to stay clear of this place...they inflate prices by 100%....there charges are 100% higher then anybody else in Rockland County NY.....I brought my car in for a simple repair and ended up with a $1200- plus bill.... the parts used were inflated by 175% this shop robs you blind...they should be closed for robbery......which is what they do in this shop.... after I left this shop I went to another shop to get an estimate and it turns out I would have saved at least $700.00 or more....if I had simple walked out of this Mavis shop located on 9W West Haverstraw NY.....Rockland County NY..... I realize that times are tough but it is not fair to have someone come in for simple repair and be charge such a high percentage over what I would I would have paid anywhere else..... My wife took our truck in to be serviced and a day later the transmission stopped working. The paperwork says they checked the transmission fluid and it was 'green' (good), but when I confronted them they deny checking it. The mechanic also tried to get my wife to pay for a 4WD fluid flush - except our truck isn't 4WD. Now he says it was just a differential flush 'same thing'. I'm only giving them one star because I can't give them zero. First of all the managers here need to go back to school and educated themselves on how to run a business. The people that work at the front desk are incompetent and very rude. Especially the manager Miguel, who tried scamming me after a fraudulent failed inspection. The vehicle was in perfect condition and it ended up passing at a different repair shop. they said my motor mounts and brakes were bad. Motor mounts aren't even in the "NYS Inspections Guidelines". By law you can only fail the safety part of the inspection when it comes to brakes when the brake pads are metal on metal with the rotors. The people that work here deliberately fail vehicles to scam you into buying unnecessary parts. This shop is a disgrace to all the oher Midas. There NYS inspection license should be revoked by the department of motor vehicles. They have new mechanics inspecting without licenses only to have the other mechanic use his own license to acquire and apply the sticker. Very unlawful service. I would never go back here again and passing on the word. read more

It is true that I previously gave them a bad review due to the up-selling they tried when I went there for the cheap oil change and tire rotation. Yes, that is their gimmick to try to make up for the lack of profit from such a cheap service. Nevertheless, I have continued to use them because, they always make time for me and do their best to get it done right and often the same day. While they seem to have a turnover of managers, all have been very good. Some of their mechanics are incredibly helpful too. Last year they diagnosed a very tricky check engine light issue. The computer gave 4 codes indicating a multitude of possible problems. They went the cheapest route first by cleaning the system, but it ended up needing an O-2 sensor. They spent a lot of time diagnosing and did not charge a lot for this process, only charging for the actual repair. Most recently, the lock cylinder went bad and I could not turn the key no matter what I tried. I had to have the car towed to them on a Saturday afternoon (after 1pm). They worked hard and fast to procure the parts and my car was ready by 5pm same day! If I had taken it to a more local mechanic, my car would have sat there over the weekend and at best would have been ready Monday afternoon. I am very grateful to Midas for always being there for me often at a moments notice. read more
