This is the best and most trustworthy auto repair in Hayward! I have been bringing my Toyota Sienna to here since 10/08/15.  Jason is so friendly, honest, reliable and professional.  Everytime I bring my car to the shop, jason always come out to greet me.  Jason will tell you what is wrong with your car, and give you options of things that should be repaired immediately, and what can wait. The choice is always yours. He is very aware of the potential dent that these repairs may make in your pocket book and appropriately triage's the most important things to tackle first. Jason does not recommend or do unnecessary work, to up charge a bill. Jason does what is needed.  If you have to wait, there is a cozy waiting area with complimentary wifi and big screen TV. I am so grateful to have found a mechanic that I believe in. I've been meaning to write a review for a while, but I like to see how my car is running first Okay, so these guys are awesome. I'm going to be honest and say that it's not always been sunshine and rainbows. I've dropped my car off and had to leave it with them for days unexpectedly without knowing when I'll get it back and that's definitely been frustrating. However, they've always done everything they can to make sure when I get my car back it runs well and they know I understand the work that's been done. They've experienced me in full blown child-like temper tantrum mode (not proud of it, but it happened) and they remained professional and helpful. I have been a customer of Midas for over 3 years. I've brought all 3 of my vehicles here for oil change and also recommended them to many of families and friends, until the most recent experience. I thought it would have been a good idea to bring my vehicle to them because it was shaking while accelerating. It was really pricey but after this the car was working fine. 2 week later, my vehicle started to make a type of vacuum noise when I drive it for longer than 30 mins. We brought it back and they changed the thermostat for $700. It seemed a bit too much but as long as the car was working I was fine. About 7 days later it started to make the same noise and more worse to drive. Couldn't last 10 mins and the noise would come back. I got a second opinion and found out that the thermostat was cheap and there was loose piper that not only caused my ac to not work, but also the noise of the vehicle. I was very disappointed not only with the experience but that I felt ripped off from, what I thought, was a trusted company. I don't choose to even come back for an oil change and will not recommend this place anymore. On the plus side, they USE to be good and lost some good coworkers who was the reason why I trusted them with my vehicles. Not anymore. read more

I decided to get an oil and filter change here because they also would rotate the wheels, and I had a coupon for $29.99 (I could go elsewhere and just get an oil/filter change for $19.99). I sent an email on Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. asking for an appt. the next afternoon between 3:30 -5:30. The site said I would receive a reply within 1 hour. As they close at 5:30 I wasn't too surprised not to hear back within the hour. However, the next day I still hadn't received a reply as late as 2:30. I had an errand to run, and it took me nearby so I dropped in. They said they could take me. I asked why I hadn't heard from them, and didn't get any kind of answer. As I was leaving the car while I went across to the mall to eat, and having no experience with this shop, I marked each of my wheels so that I could tell if the tires had been rotated. When I returned about 1 1/2 hours later, my car was sitting in a different spot outside. A quick check showed that the wheels hadn't been rotated. I went in and asked for the bill to make sure that the rotation was on it as I'd specified (it was), then quizzed the cashier whether the wheels had been done as the work order stated. She said they had (she was going by the work order) - I said, no they haven't, and explained how I knew. She then went to talk to the manager, who said they would do it if I waited. I said O.K., and watched them do the rotation. I also said you're comping me for the work. At first the manager tried to give me a coupon for a free oil change the NEXT time I came in. I said "what next time", when they'd tried to charge me for work that wasn't performed? I was not coming here again. I told him he could either comp the whole thing, or I would walk across the street and get the cop who was parked at the mall, and come back and file a fraud complaint - his choice. He then agreed to comp it all. I made sure when I got home to get under the car and see if they'd put a new filter on. They did at least do that. In short, avoid. read more

Came to get my front and rear brake pads replaced. Came at 8am, signs says they open at 730am and there were plenty of customers already. they were busy the whole time i was there. Looks like its better to make appointment. I should have made one but don't know why i didn't think to make one. Anyways waited about 3 hours, i was at Southland Mall for the last hour to kill time, which wasn't too bad. Free wifi at the place. It was my first time coming to Midas and they seemed nice, I have nothing to compare it to. nothing stood out and nothing to complain about. they seem to have many regulars here. the brake pads are came with a lifetime replacement warranty so i will be back. read more

My car completely stopped working and I had to get towed to the location and showed up unannounced when they were extremely busy on a holiday weekend. They were kind enough to check out what might have gone wrong and ultimately squeezed me in and had me back up and running in under an hour. They even came in at a price way lower than expected. I came in here to do an oil change for my 2 yr old car that has had mostly work done at the dealership, and since the money tree has not been all that fruitful lately, I decided to take my whip to a "cheap" service shop. The oil change and tire rotation that is advertised on TV and all over the internet is offered at this location, and for 20 bucks, you will not beat this deal. Now, I've made my living in sales management and training, and am all too familiar with the "gateway product." Getting you in the shop to buy a service worth at least twice that amount is good business practice. Once you get in, they will (and should) try to sell you other maintanence products for your car. I expected them to find something that I've missed since I've started doing some of my own maintenance, and I was hoping to buy the extra products and do the work at this shop. My car has 30,000 miles. They say I need a fuel injection cleaning service. My car also needs a new air filter. I say, okay, let's get 'er done. I go to leave and the service writer says, hey- my mechanic says you also need a cabin filter. By the way, how much is that? The fuel injection cleaner is 129.95, the air filter is 19.95, and the cabin filter is 79.99. I okay the services because the salesperson says that he was giving me a good deal, even gave me a coupon, and said he was not charging me for labor on any of the work except the oil change. Okay, cool. But now, he got me wondering how much these parts are really worth. So I call autozone, and find out that the fuel injection service can be done yourself for less than 5 dollars, the air filter is 5.95, and the cabin filter is 15.95. Thats a total of 27 dollars for the parts that can all be replaced inside of ten minutes. So I go back to the service writer and explain this to him, and he pretty much calls me a liar, and says that when I get to the other store that they will bait and switch me and I will end up paying more. I take my chances and cancel all of the services except the oil change and air filter since they already got the part, and I go and do the rest of their "recommended service" myself. I get to autozone in hayward and they have the parts in the back counter with my name on it, I pay 21 bucks, and the guy goes out and shows me how to do it. I finish in less than 5 minutes. Now, I'm all for salespeople selling, and businesses making a profit. If they didn't. the world would fall apart. But to charge me 220 bucks for parts worth 20 dollars retail, that's just robbery. He said he wasn't charging me for labor, but I would have rather paid for the 5 minutes labor than 1000% markup on parts. And to try and convince me that he was doing me a favor with the coupons and discounts- well that's just dishonest. Even if you need a cheap oil change, I would recommend going somewhere else. These people have absolutely ZERO integrity, and unless you're okay with that, please stay away. read more

Recently I was in the east bay visiting some friends when the tire pressure low light lit on my dashboard. I was panic stricken and went on Yelp to look up some place to get my tire patched. Midas showed up as the one the closest locations. Lucky for me, it also had great reviews!. As soon I got there, someone from the staff greeted me and asked me what I wanted to get done. He patiently listened to me as I described the problem. They said they would inspect and let me know if the puncture could be patched. They showed me the nail and went on to patch the tire. While I was there, I also asked them to do oil change as my car needed one. The technicians are knowledgeable and helpful. They gave me details on what was being done. Came here for a last minute fix. This Midas location was informative, hospitable, and honest. The staff was very polite and made sure they answered all of my questions. I've been to a lot of places where they try to do unnecessary procedures to upgrade the visit, but not at this location! As a former car enthusiast I can appreciate the service and quality this place provided. I was wondering why this place had some bad reviews and found it was because there was a change in ownership. Always take my vehicle here to the Hayward Midas. The staff here treats you very well. They even physically show what they advise you to repair next. I've been taking my Accord, Dart, and now my Honda Prelude to this Hayward Midas. Got really good prices, plus coupons found online on their website. Very quick fixes, usually drop it off in the morning, and run some errands. Then they call me in a few hours when its ready. Will be returning to be fixing a lot more on my Prelude. Highly recommend to friends and family who are looking for a mechanic. Great job! read more

This is probably my favorite oil change shop Because they are honest people and they told me exactly what my car needs. They told me the most urgent and then to watch out for the other things that need to be done on my car over time. It is less expensive and parts from recognized parts shops. Couldn't be happier with the service at this Midas. Being a female and having car issues has always been an obstacle for me when choosing an auto shop because I either feel like I can't trust the diagnosis or price. This time I had to get a full set of tires and I wanted to research some options on Yelp. I came across this Midas and the reviews looked good. This Midas I found out is under new management so I called the store up and felt an immediate sense of relief. When I arrived at the shop for my appointment I felt good, the front office staff was so friendly. The woman and I chatted for some time and she was accommodating, professional, and knowledgeable. The lobby area was very clean and an array of magazines even for women :) My car was done in the quoted time and I am so trilled with the service. I can actually feel the difference in my tires. I have had my car in here a few times, and so has my fiance'. We have now learned better. DO NOT take your car here. There is a reason why Midas has a few class action lawsuits right now and the state of CA is investigating this very location! Besides just overall poor service, a couple times they have tried to get us to do very expensive repairs for things that are not wrong. I would take my Saturn to Saturn of Fremont or Fremont Wheel & Brake and they would tell me Midas was just trying to get money out of me, and the repairs there would be a 1/3 of what they were trying to charge me at Midas. The same goes for my repairs they tried to do (mostly brake work) on my fiance's Mercury. The latest issue I had was with my oil pan. Granted, I haven't taken my car there since 2007 (after I had a bad feeling about the place) but I know this was caused from their work. It seems they use aftermarket parts for the cars they work on that are cheaper and don't fit correctly. An aftermarket plug was used on my oil pan that stripped the oil pan opening, and it started leaking. To get this fixed is now going to cost me somewhere around $700. Watchout! Instead, go to Firestone down the street. Much better group that is not ALLOWED to use aftermarket parts! read more

They did. 7:45 I got there and was greeted by Jason [i think his name was.] Gave him my keys and Gustavo helped me with the paperwork. I was on the phone talking to my boyfriend asking what oil change to get, im clueless. Gustavo explained to me the perks of the full synthetic but not pushing that option to me either. He gave me 10 dollars off before I could even pull out my Yelp discount that they have posted. Jason came back and said that everything was looking good but i needed to change my air filtee, they were recommending them to me. Probably the only Midas I will ever trust. The owner helped me out with an awesome service, I believe his name was Raymond. Of course there was the typical auto place wait but it wasn't as if I had to wait for ever. I went there for an engine check light, timing belt replacement, water pump and thermostat. I got my car in great working condition. The prices were very reasonable for being a chain. But the most important part was that the customer service. They really walked me through the entire process and made sure I understood what I need to know about what's getting fix and why it's getting fixed. Made me leave my $$ and feeling at ease there. Compared to the other Midas out there it was really good that I was recommended by an older lady to go there...haha very funny but yes I took the chance and this was my experience. *As I was waiting, the other customers waiting and coming in pretty much got a very similar service. I made an appointment for an alignment. They were about $10 - $15 cheaper than every place I called in Castro Valley and Dublin. They were very friendly and accommodating. They offer a drop off service which was awesome! I was able to drop my car off and get a ride to school. Although I would recommend they clean the courtesy ride vehicle since it was filthy. So I came here to get my A/C checked since it hasn't been working in months. I didn't have an appointment but the owner serviced my car anyways. And even though the owner said it should take about 1.5 hours to complete, they finished it sooner. I have been needing to get my Infiniti G35 serviced for quite some time now. I finally took my car over to Midas on La Playa and was very very happy with the service and quality of work. Great prices mixed with friendly attitudes and complete explanation of all items needed and why. I ended up getting my complete 90K mile services, an alignment, etc. and am super happy with the way my car is driving now. The friendly staff, great prices and comfortable environment with free coffee, free wifi and a ton of magazines made it a 5 star experience. I used to take my car to Pep boys and what a mistake that had become! My brother told me to go to Midas and so I did... I cant express enough how grateful I am that I made that change... Not only did the guys treat me like a human and not some dumb woman, they fixed everything that Pep Boys screwed up! Now when I go there they call me by name, they are incredibly friendly... They are honest. The best part is they tell me what needs to be done and they leave it at my discretion on whether or not the work can be done that day or not! I believe its Curtis, Jason and an super sweet woman that are always greeting clients and really put my mind at ease when dealing with my car!!! They never pressure me to get work done. Those dealerships will tell you anything to make sure you stay "loyal" Saturn.. hah Bottom line is Raymond was a nice sales person. They did my $19.99 oil change and did not try to upsell me. He was very polite and knowledgable. I deal with customer service and know when a person is being honest and people friendly. He understood my Dodge Charger and the limits it had. Great customer service and overall great employees to deal with. (unlike firestone). They were able to do an oil change, diagnostic on my airbag light, and replace my rotors and pads within 1 n 1/2 hours. Freaken Firestone take twice as long to just do an oil change. Midas is 1 million times better than Firestone, n the employees actually don't attempt to screw you over unlike firestone. Took my car in this past weekend. I know I've been neglecting my car for quite some time. Drove it for a few months even though my brakes were squeeking. As I drove up, Jason promptly walked up and asked us how he can help us. I told him I knew I needed an oil change, brakes changed, and possibly new tires. He said he'd inspect the tires and then let me know. Sure enough, metal was exposed on my tires. He was able to find me tires within my budget that had pretty good reviews on line. Overall a smooth experience! I was given a detailed description of the services/work done on my car and a breakdown of the costs for each. Car repair shops in general get a bad rap (and most of them rightfully so). This shop bucks that trend when it comes to quality service! Definitely will be bringing my other cars here. read more

(They only had one car being worked on) and 2 empty bays seems like they were being lazy and and didn't want to work.
