These guys take customer service TO THE NEXT LEVEL! I don't remember who helped me exactly but it was on Friday evening 11/18/2016. If your boss is reading this I wanted him/her to be able to give credit where credit is due. I called in distress at the Firestone just down the street... They wouldn't help me fix a flat tire unless the vehicle stayed overnight then would do nothing further to assist me after I told them that wasn't going to work. The gentlemen at Midas offered to help if I could get the car there.. Somehow I managed to get the car there probably 15 or 20 min before closing time. I had no sooner stepped out of my car one foot on the ground and the gentleman that I spoke to on the phone was getting my keys and getting the flat tire fixed. Sat there for about 30min while they fixed my flat. They fixed it and had me road worthy FAST. NOT only that they comped my 30 dollar bill out of the goodness of thier heart. Pure and simple. The dude was amazing. He asked for nothing in return for helping me out of a tough situation when others wouldn't. I am truly amazed and absolutely in debted to this person for having such an amazing and selfless dedication to his companies core values of unwavering customer service. My hats off to you. I had a fairly flat tire and originally went to Big O tires to get it checked. I was advised that I had a nail that was too close to the side wall to repair, and thus had to get a new tire. Figured I should get a second opinion and went to Midas. They checked my tires and said it was an easy fix. My tire is all patched up and I was not charged a single penny. Certainly appreciate their honesty or else I would be looking at a $200 bill for a new tire (yes, that was what Big O tires quoted me). Also, the guy at the counter was super nice! read more

Robert and the team at Midas have serviced my wife's car on an ongoing basis. They are trustworthy, reasonable and caring - and beyond. When the catalytic converter was stolen from my wife's car, Robert went the extra mile "because of what my wife does for a living" (she is a hospice nurse). This sort of community caring is hard to find nowadays, and it was incredibly touching and has reinforced us as a loyal customer (although we were anyways). Not good at following up with customers. Promised to order parts and get back to me when they arrived. Every time I called asking for updates they said they'd look into it and get back. Never happened, even when I gave them my phone number each time for a call back. Played that game for two weeks. Extremely rude customer service. Complained I hired a lock expert to replace broke ignition, when they only could give me a key different then the door, instead of one key. Said the manager was pissed. Accused me of driving the car into the ground. I have it serviced regularly. They knew the heater wasn't working last time I had service, why didn't they tell me that the water pump might be out. I spent thousands there over the years, bought sets of tires, oil changes, bearing, alternator. The staff this year sucks! I won't ever go back. read more

This is a duplicate review since it compares Midas and Les Schwab. Here's today's comparison of my experience at Midas in Issaquah and Les Schwab on 148th in Bellevue. First I went to Midas in Issaquah to get their estimate on getting my brakes replaced. I had them originally put on by Midas and they have a guarantee as long as you own the vehicle. The guarantee only covers the brake pads but not labor. They told me that it would be $620 to replace brakes, brake calipers, resurface 2 front brake rotors, or $690 if they added the resurface of 2 rear brake drums. That was including the "free" brake pads. They recommended resurfacing the front rotors (although it would be the last time that could be done), and resurfacing the rear drums. If they replaced the front rotors and did not resurface the rear drums, then it was about $800. I thought that was a wee bit much, to say the least. I called Les Schwab in Bellevue, and shared with Alyssa what the problems were with the brakes, talking car-speak the best I could, and she gave me a tentative quote over the phone. It was $240.35 to replace the brakes including resurfacing the front rotors, or $429.00 to replace the brakes and new rotors. I had decided that I wasn't going to do the resurfacing of the rear drums. And the Les Schwab estimate included charging for new brake pads which Midas would have been providing for free. I was a bit surprised and asked her if perhaps I might have missed sharing something since the two quotes were so different - $800 vs $429. She said no, and explained some of their standards of how they replaced / repaired the brake system. For example they always included replacing the calipers - I noticed on my past invoice that Midas did not, and had not replaced the calipers when they installed the brakes last time. So I had a confidence that I was getting an apples and apples quote. My husband and I have always had good experience working with them for tires, and the estimate seemed trustworthy, so off I called Midas back and they said my car would be ready for pick-up in 45 minutes, and then I went to Les Schwab. I was greeted at my car which was nice. At the counter, I was told that the work would take about 1-1/2 hours and it would be $240.35 or $384.45 depending on what was needed - which was lower than Alyssa had indicated - I think she guessed on what part might be needed and chose the higher priced part. That was good news - the quote was even lower. $384.45. I got "free" brake pads from Midas since that is what their guarantee said - and hoped that I could use them at Les Schwab - but that didn't work out. Which was OK - their estimate was still lower. After a while, the mechanic came out and recommended that I replace the rotors - that they were bare to the metal (is that the right way to express it?) and that they really couldn't be resurfaced any more. (To Midas' credit, they had said it would be best to replace the rotors, but they could be resurfaced one more time. Ummm. Seems penny-wise but pound-foolish.) Les Schwab also said that resurfacing on the rear drums was not necessary at all. Seemed like Midas was emphasizing doing the resurfacing of the front rotors (rather than replacement) and doing the resurfacing of the rear drums (rather than letting it go) which was the opposite of Les Schwab. I paid $384.45, just what they quoted me. That was a savings of $800-384 = $416. But remember that Midas had provided the brake pads for free in their $800 quote, and Les Schwab did not in their $384 quote - so the difference is actually much greater depending on how much brake pads would be . In other words I saved 52% or Midas would have charged me over 2x the amount... FOR THE SAME WORK. The kicker here - both shops had my car in their shop and dismantled it and provided FIRM WRITTEN QUOTES for the EXACT SAME WORK. On the same day. I will NOT be using Midas in Issaquah in the future, needless to say. I will be using Les Schwab from here on - Les Schwab was fast, polite, cheerful, helpful, professional and to me - extremely trustworthy. I got to witness how they interacted with other clients as well, and everyone got very nice polite and professional service. Thanks for a job well done - Les Schwab! It's a shame you didn't earn my business - Midas! read more

I've been coming to this Midas for almost 10 years now. I've had two vehicles over that time span and they have treated it with respect every time. I've met a handful of managers who have worked there and I have NEVER had a bad experience with any of them. Currently I've been working with John, who's been taking care of my 2012 Acura. I love my car and his team keeps it in great condition. There is a never a surprise charge or a tacked on fee. John makes sure I get the best deal by pulling any coupons that might be valid and helping me save some money. And if there's ever any repairs that might be needed, he lets me know ahead of time so I can budget them out. You sometimes think that car service places want to rip you off but I can tell you unequivocably that this place has it nailed down. It's good, efficient service that genuinely cares. I don't plan on ever using another mechanic because this location has treated me so well. If you live or work in the Issaquah area, this is hands down the best place to take care of your vehicle. I live in the south end and still make sure I bring it up to Issaquah because I trust them so much. read more

I took my car in a couple of months ago when the check engine light came on. They ran a diagnostic and told me I hadn't gotten the gas cap on tight enough. I've done that before so not a surprise. While I had it there, I figured I'd have them check a slow leak in a tire and a couple of other minor things. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with the tire. The very next day it went flat and Les Schwab said that a plug from a previous repair was leaking badly. Seems odd that they found it immediately but I suppose it could happen. The reason I give them a two is that they didn't charge me for the tire check and not much for resetting the check engine light. Unfortunately, I caught them in a lie (or two). They started stating that the car needed a transmission flush and several other things that I had just had done at another shop. So my advice? Buyer beware. Be careful when agreeing to work if you don't know for sure it needs to be done but I suppose their safe enough for an oil change or muffler job. My experience here was especially disappointing because when I lived in Chicago the last couple of years I had a great relationship with the guys at the Midas shop in my neighborhood. I had an exceptional experience at this Midas the other day and thought they deserved some recognition for it. My car battery died up the road and I was able to get a jump to bring it back here as they were open and not much else was. Immediately upon arriving a man named John single handedly revived my faith in going to the repair shop. He had the biggest grin on his face and you really felt like this guy was dropping everything to help us out. Honestly, with the customer service he gave he should be the manager of this place if he isn't already- people are going to want to come back to this shop. They didn't seem all that busy but I was told they couldn't do the work until the next day! ??? Midas was the closest place that I could think of so I drove it there and the guy behind the counter told me that he would squeeze it in if I could leave it an hour. I said great and left him the keys and headed to the Gaslamp. 20 minutes later I got a call on my cell letting me know the work was done! If I could give minus point, I would do so. I brought my own tires to this store to be mounted to the rim on my vehicle in May. The job was done in one day (with one hour overtime). I thought that they had no way to mess up the job for such simple straightforward one. I was wrong. In August, I found that Midas put a wrong wheel nut on the wheel. It was the one looking close to what I had but the nut key won't properly insert. The person doing the job forced it in by using my key and caused obvious scretches on the nut. Good thing is that my key wasn't damaged. I went back to the store and asked to find my original nut. The store manager couldn't find it and told me to buy another key by myself because "This wasn't done by us" (said by him). I told him that it wasn't done by me either because this was the only store that I visited. I understood that I had to get a new key for this nut and didn't expect any compensation considering how small the case is. However after I said "I won't be your customer in future" with big frustration (I think it's understandable), he replied "It's fine to me. Our store police doesn't allow me to insult customers...". What a rude reply from a store manager! I left without saying anything as I didn't want to waste my time on such person. It made my decision to give this store the lowest rating. I can't accept a person with such unprofessional manners becoming a store manager. It also gives me a feeling that Midas doesn't care about customers. This store might have seen some evil customers but treating me like one of those is very unfair to me. This unpleasant experience made me feel how good Costco is. I have never written a Yelp review before...but the service and people at Midas deserve major recognition. First, I called the cancel my oil change an hour before the appointment. Feeling awful, I was worried how the worker would act when I called (because who likes to have someone cancel an hour before). To my surprise, a man named John answered the phone and was one of the most sincere human beings EVER! He explained to me that it was no problem to cancel and that we could reschedule easily. A week later, I come in and met John. I wish all people could be like John. He had my paperwork organized, he was INCREDIBLY friendly, and honestly made my heart warm. I was treated like a celebrity. I was in and out in 30 minutes. While I was waiting, John answered the phone and said to a customer "okay let's get you in Monday to check out your car and make sure you're safe in your vehicle." WOW. He was so genuine, so caring, and opened my eyes to how you should act at work daily. Even if John was having the worst day ever, you could never tell. He was truly remarkable. They took what I had in quickly and efficiently welded it and charged a very nominal fee for the work. When I made the appointment they said they would have my filter. Left car. They called and said they could not get the filter. Then they called and said they weren't sure so they want to pull my filter. Pulled filter and confirmed they did not have the right one. When I picked up the car they said they didn't even know what kind of synthetic oil my car needed and that the Audi dealership would not tell them. Makes me question their competency. Just wasted an hour and a half of my life just to confirm that they did not know what they were doing. read more

I wanted to finally leave my first positive review in Yelp and decided to give it to these guys. Wife's '99 Camry would not start. These guys gave me a good price for the starter that I cross checked with my in-laws' mechanic friend. They sold it to me for about 5% markup which is generous. The service fee is also decent. The battery is priced higher than Costco but can't blame them. Gotta make the money somehow. On another occasion, I took my '15 Optima to see if my oil was truly replaced at the dealership and not topped off. I didn't trust the kid at the dealership. At Midas, instead of inspecting my oil, they just inspected if I had leaks. Told me that I had a very tiny leak and I chose not to do anything about this as I'm fully aware that I have no leaks. I didn't bother to further ask them to check what I initially came for. The inspection was quick and FREE. I don't take things for free so I paid them with a dozen donuts. Would've given them a 5 star rating if they took more time to understand why the cars are brought in to begin with. I highly recommend John. He's good to work with. read more

More than five years after trading my pickup for a car, and more than six-and-a-half years after I no longer worked at the Safeway that gave my coupons for cheap oils changes, the man at the front desk (whose name I forget - dang it!) still remembered my face and truck. Super friendly, huge smile, and very helpful. Amazing! I scheduled an appointment to have my brakes evaluated and to see if I needed a replacement. After a couple of minutes, John and one of his staff came out and said that my brakes are still in between 50-60% . This a good reassurance as Toyota kept saying the same thing for thr past year or so and I wanted a different repair shop to actually confirm my brakes' standing. They told me that my car brakes should still be good until January or even longer depending on driving conditions. I will definitely come back here again when it is time to replace my brakes! Over two years since my last review and I have moved almost three hours away from Issaquah, but I still go way out of my way to bring my 'cars with problems' to John and his team at Midas. My most recent example I had to have towed in! Perhaps that sounds crazy and I realize not realistic for most people, but when you trust and respect these guys as much as I have been give reason to over the years, you find ways to maintain that bond. I cannot say enough great things about John and his commitment to excellent customer service. I have had three separate experiences with the Midas in Issaquah, and John has gone above and beyond in each and every circumstance. The first time was for something simple; having moved to Washington and just gotten new plates, my Louisiana plates' bolts were so badly rusted to the vehicle no amount of rust remover and garage tools could get them off. They kindly assisted me and didn't charge me a dime. The second time I needed more extensive repairs, and they were extremely communicative and gave me a full written estimate via email, and they were honest about which repairs were urgent, and which could potentially wait. They did not pressure me into trying to spend unnecessary money like some other mechanics have. They professionally provided me with my options and the costs, along with their professional opinions and allowed me to make the right choice for myself. The repairs had my old car running amazingly! The third time was at the end of my 25 year old vehicle's life, and again they diagnosed the issues, and although I decided to get a new vehicle rather than make the repairs, they refused to accept my money for their time and labor.
