Ladies! I'll be sure to stay clear from this place if I have another problem with my car. I paid the diagnostic and was told the reason my car was making the sound I described was because my rotors needed to be replaced. They said, "Your brake pads are good! But your rotors are bad." And that was supposed to fix the problem. Immediately, after driving off the lot, after getting the rotors fixed and paying for the diagnostic, which cost me $1,240.48 ... IMMEDIATELY after driving off the lot, my car was still making the same sound!!! I drove right back and they told me the sound that my car was making was NOT A PROBLEM that I needed to worry about!!! And they refused to refund me the $100+ diagnostics fee. I guess they just decided they wanted to fix some rotors that week because they had my car for an ENTIRE WEEK fixing the rotors which was NOT even the problem!!! I asked if the problem could be due to an axel and they told me my axels were good. After dealing with Midas in Renton, I took my car to a different place and was quickly advised that the problem causing the sound was due to a broken axel and it was fixed in a day. I wish I had never taken my car to Midas in Renton. I don't believe they ever even did a test drive before or after they replaced the rotors. I don't even believe the rotors needed to be replaced. I came in for an oil change and was upsold to more expensive oil and told I needed a valve changed as well. They told me it would be done "within the hour". The front office person then disappeared into the garage. Two hours later I was till waiting when I saw a random guy pull up and both the mechanic and front office guy run out to look at his car for about a half hour (it must have been a friend of theirs). They have always been slow but this was ridiculous and very disrespectful to the actual customers. read more

Horrible - after a 2 hour wait they charged us $260 for a diagnose but when my husband, a mechanic opened the hood no fingerprints were even on the dusty engine. They gave us an estimate for $650 for the parts which we found at Autozone for $170 and the other parts for for $59 which they wanted to charge is $400 for. They did not even touch anything under the hood. This is the WORST customer rip off I have ever experienced. DO NOT patronize this place - EVER! read more

Extremely disappointing experience. I came in because my check engine light was on and even showed them a free diagnostic scan I got from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Despite that, they still charged me $200 for a very basic diagnostic -- and the result was exactly the same as the free scan I already had. No deeper inspection, no additional information, nothing different. Then they quoted me almost $1,000 just to replace the VVT (Variable Valve Timing) part, without properly explaining the issue or showing me any real evidence. It felt like they were just trying to upsell expensive repairs without doing real diagnostic work. On top of that, I had politely told them my turn signal light wasn't working and asked if they could simply replace the bulb. I made it clear it just needed a new bulb. Instead, they just "checked" it and told me it needed to be replaced -- exactly what I had already told them. When I asked about the actual bulb replacement, the guy at the counter rudely said, "Nothing is free." Overall, it felt like a complete waste of time and money. I would not recommend this shop to anyone looking for honest or helpful service. I will never go back there again. read more

Justin was extremely helpful I called for a new tire for my Subaru forester and Justin was able to help me with information and informed me within 10 seconds that he had it in stock and had me come in to check on my tire that was super low he filled it up for free and had me reverse slowly backwards while stopping periodically to spray it with soapy water and roll back a little more as he checked for any nails or screws in my tire. Juston took amazing care of me and my family car. I'm extremely grateful and you should be Thankful you have such an amazing employee I've not had service like this from any other tire shops ever and I have been a driver for work for 15 years. I responded to an ad for a full synthetic oil change. Paid nearly 100 dollars. Within 1 week my car reported "engine oil level low". I took it back and they refused to look at it without more money. I took it to a Subaru dealer. No leaks but only half the oil was put in the engine. Further, the oil drained out was not synthetic (different viscosity) so I paid to get it done properly. I asked for a refund and have spent hours on the phone with their customer service but no refund. Run,run,run away from Midas. Used to be a trustworthy company. I have an appointment here and I pulled into a bay to ask where to pull my car until the appointment time; I was greeted with a aggressive arms waving me out of the bay without any exchange of words as I was rolling my window down to ask a few questions (specifically, where to leave the car for the 45 minutes until the service) Complete opposite customer service than the personable ease on the phone with a rep making the appointment, the day prior. If anyone had bad experiences at this location that sucks for you My visits here have been nothing but a godsend for me, I firstly want to Dedicate BRAKE SHOP up north they destroyed my truck's braking performance and then said it was my fault for letting it get "that bad"? no bro... you suck at your job, and i know my truck that's why i came to your dumbass but never again. Then I took it to Renton Midas and they looked at what that scumbag did and they told me they forgot to put the bleeder screw fully seated in its place which caused a slow leak and caused air to get into the entire braking system. So MIdas techs replaced the bleeder screw re-bled braking system and bam 40 mins later my Escalade was back on the road and safe to drive again. When I went to do an oil flush, after a couple of hours maybe 3? I was told that they had flushed most of the lumps of slush inside the engine. Then they had told me to come back after 500 miles to do another oil change to flush out the rest of the lumps. There was professionalism and courtesy when I was discussing them including my mom. Went to this location with an issue of vibration at higher speeds and worn brake pad, they told me they were doing an inspection and found a number of issues that would sum to $2,000... After Paying, my car rolled out with a NEW issue, and the original vibration issue was not fixed. Went back one more time and they charged $100 for a "better" inspection and found they didnt tighten a suspension bolt fully, and found the actual issue behind the vibration admitting it was an oversight during the original inspection...and charged $500 to fix the real problem. Then one of the desk members tried to sell me a Midas Credit Card after telling me they missed the issue and messed up..better yet, I had airpods in and pretended to listen to music and the employee trying to sell me the card talked smack about me because i turned down the card. First off Midas is paying people to leave fake 5 star reviews!!! There is a sign in the office saying that they will pay you!!! I called in and asked if I could have the same complimentary check done on my car as they do when you have a oil change. The receptionist told me it was 31.99 if I was not having a oil change. I said ok and booked my appointment. After a quick 30 min check over I received my bill 300$! The woman said that because I had a misfire they put my car on the computer and that cost 250, plus my 32$ fee. I spoke to her in detail about how I just wanted to check so I don't know why she went ahead and did anything else. Her attitude sucked, she was rude to me, the people on the phone and the man waiting in the lobby. She kept complaining about her job and her whole attitude was horrible!!!!! I only gave two stars because the manager could see that his receptionist was incompetent and messed up. She messed up so he made it right!!! But if she hates her job so much she should be fired!!!! A coupon which specifically lists their location. Counter attendant sez "the owner refuses to accept Midas coupons". At... A MIDAS? 2.) Had to book a week in advance for an oil change. Told upon arrival that I'd have to wait 2 hours to get my car back. After 2 hours, no call from them. I show up and they haven't touched my car yet. Was told they would be finished in 45-60 minutes. 75 min later they're done. So 3.25 hours just for an oil change. The staff was gracious to me and I was gracious to them. I have an old Suzuki XL-7. This car is not as popular as other cars, so buying spare parts and repairing it was very difficult. After I brought the car to this place, MIDAS at 265 Rainier Ave S, Renton. Everyone who works here is very happy, friendly and enthusiastic. From Lori working in the office to James, the manager, and Lance, the car mechanic, they worked very thoughtfully and explained very clearly what should be done. What needs to be repaired and the reasons why it must be repaired. Everything is listed on the paperwork very clearly. They repaired the entire rear brake system of my vehicle and also the cooling system. This is a very reliable car repair place. I have taken my car to other places before but the car could not be repaired perfectly. This MIDAS Auto Repair place in Renton is very trustworthy. You'll feel secure in having your car repaired correctly and no longer have to worry like I did. read more

Originally came 1st time ever trying midas for a oil change and 1000 dollar headlight repair and they were very friendly. James particularly was a nice tech and the manager so I felt happy to have found a shop for future repairs however after the oil change nothing but problems have occured. After the oil change and leaving store My oil sensor 2 days later somehow needed replacing costing me another 100 bucks which they deny had anything to do with their oil change which I doubt. Then my engine began overheating (2016 chrystler never had problems before). They tell me it's due to "high milage" at 135k miles it was somewhat believable. Pay another 400 for them to fix my hose which is all they said needed replacing for my overheating issue. Within a hour of driving away my damn car overheated again at night!!! Had to drive it back to the shop in a overheated condition hurting my engine most likely all for them to magically find that I needed a new radiator. Another 1k later and I'm out the door with a new radiator and new headlights and despite the major issues I at least am happy about the fact my cars fixed NOPE 1 month later and BOTH my brand new 1k dollar headlights have gone out and my engine is overheating when I idle my car then goes down when I begin driving. This means they havent actually done one damn thing correctly that I've paid them over 3k to fix and paid 1k for a rental and missed work for Dropped car off yesterday for them to fix everything that they were supposed to have already fixed and still have not recieved a call at all. If it's not fixed and free due to their own shop being at fault I will be hiring a lawyer to sue It looks like I'm not alone as many recent reviews have been 1 stars for them messing up. Not good. I stopped by the Midas Location in Renton, Wa. 6/23/2023 I described issue to front desk and mechanic " ..there is a vibration in the gas pedal and also in steering" The mechanic drove my Toyota 4Runner, then placed it on a lift and I chatted with him for less than 2 minutes and was told that it appeares to need the Power Steering Rack & Pinion R&R'd. Staff was very nice, and all was good, but suddenly I was told that I owed Midas $222.59, ( for advise? ). I have had Midas in Issaquah Wa, do work on my 4Runner many times and never once was I ever charged for advise / opinion. I will however will never go back to Renton, Wa Midas. Purchased tires here about six months ago, and was originally attracted to the shop as there was a purchase three tires and the fourth is free special. The tires initially weren't available at the shop, but was told they would be in shop the next morning. They took my number and said they would call if the tires didn't arrive for any reason. Upon arrrival the next afternoon, they weren't there as of yet, and was told to come back the next day. Fine, miscommunications happen, so made a third trip the next day and managed to get the tires installed. Upon paying, we were informed the tires weren't part of the 3-4 special offer. Flash forward to this week, when we caught a nail in one of the tires. Took it into Midas again, and $44.00 later to repair a nail hole in a tire I purchased there six months prior. I had oil change scheduled. When I checked in at the front counter, prior to signing any paperwork or handing over my keys, I explained to the counter attendant, Dori, that I had a 5 pack voucher for pre-paid oil changes that I wanted to use for that visit. She explained that she wasn't sure if they would be able to honor it. I shared with her that I have used it at many Midas locations across the country with no issue, including another location in Bellevue, WA. She did not express any further concern and continued to check me in. After handing me paperwork to be signed, she explicitly stated, "I will make the price adjustments at the end of your visit." Upon checking out, she told me I owed $38. I said, that shouldn't be the case - the voucher states my oil change pack was pre-paid and I shouldn't owe anything today. She said she didn't know how to ring it in the system, so I showed her previous oil change invoices that I used the voucher on as an example of how other locations did it before. She then said she needed to get her manager. The manager, James, came out and was disrespectful off the bat. He explained that he had never seen the voucher before. I said that the manager of the location that sold it to me, put their contact information if anyone needed to confirm with them the legitimacy of the voucher. He said, he's seen all he needs to see and does not need to call anyone - despite there being a receipt of my purchase of the voucher attached. I then took the liberty to call the manager of the location where I bought the voucher and they even talked to James and said that I was in the right. James said, that they would not honor it and expected me to pay for the oil change. He accused me of the voucher being fake. He would not give me a chance to speak without cutting me off or raising his voice at me. I explained that this conversation should have happened before my car was even serviced - not after the fact. James then proceeded to question my ID after I paid. He was not willing to help me whatsoever - seemed as if he was looking to pick a fight. My 2005 Nissan Altima lost, what I fought, an alternator in November 2021. Took a car to Renton Midas for repair. I paid 700$ bucks or so for repair and that made me happy for what I fought got drivable car. Two days later, after making less than 10 miles, I lost the power completely. Had to call towing to pick me up from 405 highway. Late evening, I dropped my car to Midas again. What went wrong? The wear cable connected to alternator. Got it installed for free this time, cable cost is +20$. I spoke to James (manager) lately. He still thinks he fixed Altima' broken alternator that time. Really? He likes to speak about probability. But what chances are to have broken alternator and broken connecting cable at the same time? read more

If I could give this shop a zero, I would. AVOID AND SAVE YOURSELF FUTURE REGRETS. DO NOT TRUST THE MANAGER. I spent $850 on 4 new shocks in March, 2020 at another Midas shop (in CA). They came with Midas Life Time Warranty. Manager said "if it breaks, take it to any Midas shop and they will be replaced free of charge." I drove up to WA and started noticing metal clanking noises every time I went over a bump. I took it to another auto repair shop close to where I was staying in Capitol Hill. They said both my front shocks are damaged and need replacing. I thought, ok. I will take it to a Midas shop. This one in Renton had an opening that day. After $38 for inspection, the manager says "You must have gone over some big potholes or carried too much weight in your van because the shocks are damaged. We won't be replacing them for you BECAUSE THE SHOCKS SHOULD BREAK THIS QUICKLY." So the Midas Lifetime Warranty for shocks is only if you drive on smooth roads or better yet, just keep your car in the garage. Then it'll covered under their lifetime warranty. THE MANAGER AT THIS MIDAS SHOP WEASELED HIS WAY OUT OF REPLACING COMPONENTS THAT ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP. I am hiring a lawyer and taking this shop and the manager specifically to small claims court. $850 for garbage warranty? You think you will get away with it? See you in court. read more

My car's speedometer and gauges were not working a lot of the time so had Midas look at it. When brought it in they said could bring it in on Saturday and would find out what's wrong AND fix it. So after brought it in at the agreed time at 2:30 pm, they said it would take 1 hour to look at it. It took Midas 2 hours and said I'd have to come in again another day even though as I told them I have a difficult busy schedule. Paid Midas $59.99, although was quoted as $39.99 to get it looked at the week before. Wants to check the car still too and said would be another few hours to check it on Tuesday at 11:00 making an appointment for then. When called Midas on Monday they told me I have NO appointment. Want to do a lot more things that do not need fixing am sure. Made an appointment elsewhere. Stay clear of Midas as wants to do a lot of unnecessary things to vehicles! read more

"They rejoiced when they saw us coming" Old Jewish saying * On February 4, thieves stole our catalytic converter. The next day we got our 2007 Honda C/RV into the local Midas. We paid the $2,184.40 bill in shock at the cost, but assured that we would be protected for years. * In April, we thought the exhaust was noisy so took it to Midas and they replaced a gasket. There was no charge since their work had a 3 month warranty. * On June 27, the noise from the exhaust had been growing, and when the dash light came on we took it back in. They said that the exhaust had not been installed properly, so did some change to align the pipe to enter the converter correctly. We paid $144.46 to repair their mistake since the warranty period was expired by 3 weeks. (Did they damage the converter at this time, since in less than one month the converter was "no longer efficient." ??) * On July 21, the 'check engine' light came on again. My obc tester showed an Oxygen sensor warning of low manifold pressure. We took it back to Midas for them to check their work just three weeks before. Although the warranty on the converter was still valid, we still had to pay $214.02 for diagnosis. * On July 23, a replacement converter was installed. Although under warranty, we were required to pay $235.43 labor to install the replacement converter. So the total money Midas Mufflers of Renton, WA was able to charge for the theft of our converter was $2,778.91. We feel like we have been robbed twice. Howard Carlson read more

My headlight went out on my Jeep so I bought a bulb and went to put it in and realized it's not like the old days where you pop the hood and swap it out. This required you to solve a puzzle, do 12 jumping jacks and hold your breath for 30 seconds. I called a couple different places that quoted me $166 but when I called Midas and asked them if they could install it they said ya $55! The gentleman was so nice and said bring it on in! So I went straight there and The customer service was amazing. I then took a shot in the dark and asked if they could program my extra key fob and the gentleman said yes for $65! Super cheap because everyone else wanted $75 and above! I wish I would have gotten his name so I could brag about him but I did get Dennis' name and they both are awesome!!! This was my experience. I have a Mercedes CLK. My battery had a dead cell causing the car not to start intermittently. This place saved me money. Since changing ownership/management this place has become a racket. I was quoted $240.00 to CHANGE A HEADLIGHT. The person said that they would have to completely take off the bumper and it would take an hour and a half in order to complete all of the work needed to change a burnt out headlight. That's an absolute LIE. You do not have to take off my bumper in order to change a headlight on my car. Some quick research proved that changing a headlight in my car is as simple as in most cars; it takes just a couple of minutes, no tools required, and definitely no need to remove any unrelated parts. Just to add insult to injury, he told me that if I brought in my own headlight, they would charge me and extra $30; bringing the total cost to $270. It's so preposterous even to type out these words. And hard to believe that they would think anyone would be so stupid as to fall for a scam like that, but that's honestly what I dealt with today when I called in to Midas. I came home and easily did the installation myself in just a couple of minutes, for free. My partner and I have been loyal customers for years now. While Frank was still there I felt respected and treated fairly. It was honestly one of the only places I felt comfortable going to as a woman. Frank would always explain things to me without being condescending. But since he's left these folks are genuinely just trying to take you for a ride; especially people that they wrongly assume know nothing about cars. They lost two customers for life today trying to pull a stunt as heinous as this one.
