I had a confirmed appointment for 7:30 AM and arrived at that time . I waited nearly an hour before Paula finally arrived around 8:20 AM. When I asked what happened, her response was "life be lifing." That was the first sign that there was going to be no professionalism or accountability for the delay. Because what does that even mean?! I explained that I had a confirmed appointment at 7:30, and instead of acknowledging the mistake or apologizing, Paula immediately became dismissive and implied that I was lying about having an appointment. When I showed her the confirmation, she brushed it off and said they "just put her name there." Being accused of being dishonest when you have proof in front of you is incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. At that point I made it clear that all I wanted was a simple apology for the delay. Instead of showing any accountability, she responded by telling me that if I had the week she had, I would understand. While everyone has difficult days, that is not an excuse to treat customers poorly or dismiss their time. People make appointments because their time matters. I arrived early and ended up staying until 9:00 AM, which caused me to miss other commitments. The issue was not just the delay it was the tone, attitude, and complete lack of customer service. Being rude, dismissive, and accusing a customer of lying when they are simply asking for basic respect is unacceptable. Management should be aware of how customers are being treated here. A simple apology and professional communication would have resolved the situation quickly. Instead, the interaction was unnecessarily confrontational and disrespectful. No customer should be spoken to this way when they show up on time for a confirmed appointment. I've been a long-time customer of Midas at this location, so it's very disappointing! read more

I had a very frustrating experience with this Midas location. I ordered tires in-store using a Midas credit card because online payment wasn't available. I was told the tires would take 3+ days to arrive as they had to be ordered. That same day, a mechanic confirmed my tires didn't need replacing, so I tried to cancel--but the store was closed. The next day I attempted to go in and cancel and the salesperson who sold me the tires (apparently a floater) stopped me at the door saying there system was down but that I shouldn't have a problem canceling the order because the sale had not been finalized as 1.) they didn't have the tires yet 2.) they obviously hadn't rendered services. He also provided me the managers phone number. After over 20 phone call attempts I reached the manager Paula who said all sales are final, although this was never explained nor was it on my sales receipt. She advised she would call me the following day to see if there was anything she could do as she wasn't in the shop. The following day I went into the shop and Paula advised the tires had arrived, and was insistent on installing them. I advised I would not be picking them up nor would I allow them to install them. She provided me with a phone # and when I called it would cite thank you for calling multiple times before automatically disconnecting. I went on the Midas website and found a contact # filed a complaint and was assured it would be sent over to the store owner. I have yet to receive a response. This is very bad business. Services were not provided or rendered. Payment should have been a refundable deposit per corporate policy, not full charge. I was also charged separately for the mounting, balancing and installation and was told the alignment would be included. However my receipt showed we declined the alignment and Paula herself said that the mounting and balancing etc all was included with the purchase of new tires. It should also had been explained that all sales were final. Overall it was an awful experience. I have filed a dispute with the credit card company and will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

I will remove this review if Midas technicians are correct about the service they provided, regardless do NOT get welds done here. I called originally to get old rusted hardware removed for a small job I was going to do swapping my old exhaust system. The service writer recommended to bring in the new parts anyway since "it would cost the same amount of money to do that job", to which I agreed. I got a call from them later saying they will need to cut and re-weld the new parts I provided because the new ones didn't fit properly, and in good faith I trusted them and agreed for them to do it. I take the blame for this as well, I should have known better, just because they're good people doesn't mean they're good at what they do. I mentioned to them prior to the cutting and re-welding that this exhaust was specifically designed for this car but they assured me it wasn't. Got my car back and it was missing some pieces as they claimed it interfered and will damage the new exhaust; That's when I decided to question their integrity, and the company I bought my exhaust from. Midas didn't even tell me they intentionally left off some parts until I discovered that some thing's were missing. I reached out to Z1 Motor Sports about the exhaust I bought from them and they stated: "That is compatible with the factory cats. I have several customers with that exact set up on their car already." It was really disappointing in all honesty, they quoted me for $100-$250 for the job but then ended up charging me $310 for missing parts, missing hardware, and a really nasty weld job. The part they ruined costs me $299 itself which I went ahead and re-ordered to do the installment myself. UPDATE: I attached new photos of their weld and the new parts I had to buy because of their weld job.... I'm lost for words, haha. I was hoping I would be wrong but then again the pipes they welded needed to go, this was insane. read more

After an oil change it was recommended to get a couple things done to my vehicle. I returned to do Serpentine belt and the service was performed promptly and was called soon as it was ready. The one thing i appreciate as a female customer is having a female to speak to at the front desk. Linda was very nice and courteous. My husband brought his 2011 Hyundai Accent to this location in order to repair the purge valve. After multiple visits and over $2000 worth of recommended repairs the car was still not operating properly. He insisted that the purge valve needed replacement yet the mechanic kept saying no but offering other repairs that "might" fix the problem. They refused to replace the purge valve even after it's widely known that the make and model of car has issues with the purge valve. After rejecting the final set of repairs we brought the vehicle to another mechanic. They quickly replaced the purge valve and the car is working normally again. Midas, you not only ripped us off with unnecessary and costly repairs but you didn't listen to your customer. Unfortunately, we won't be returning or recommending this location to others. read more

This is the kind of service I know Midas is for. Personable, warm and caring people. If anyone lives or work near the Midas on I-10 and Fredericksburg, BEWARE, drive here instead. You will never get the Midas touch service from Midas in I-10, but you will definitely be completely satisfied here at their Bandera Shop. The I-10 shop look nicer and deceiving, what counts is the SERVICE and how they treat you as a customer. I just had an oil change but it was definitely a very great experience. I took my truck in to have tires mounted and balances as well as an alignment. I called ahead and was told there was no wait as they had an open bay. I dropped off the truck and was told it would be done in two hours. Three hours later I called to check status, and it had not even been started on. Four hours later they are rushing to get truck out before closing. They next day I noticed they had severely gouged up the faces on my wheels. I call and am told by Oscar (I assume is the manager) to bring it in. When I take it in, he says that they will fix the wheels, but I would have to leave the truck 3-4 days. I make a living out of my truck, so being without it is a problem. However, I was going to be working out of the state for a week. I figured that was the perfect opportunity to have wheels repairs. I let Oscar know I would be dropping it off first thing Monday. I called on Thursday to check the status. Oscar tells me that the wheels had been picked up and we're being repaired by a third party. Saturday I called again to check status, Oscar informed me that the wheels were on the truck coming back to the shop and would be installed as soon as they arrive. I got back to town late Saturday and they are closed on Sunday. Monday morning, I called to check status and I get the same answer that they are on a truck on the way to be delivered. Tuesday? You guessed it. The wheels are on a truck out to be delivered. Finally, I got my tuck back late Tuesday. So total, one day for bad work plus nine days to fix their bad work. King Midas turned everything he touched into gold. Everything Leon Valley Midas touches turns to shit. Do yourself a favor, whatever it is that your car needs, take it elsewhere. Update on my last review 3 months ago. 3 months ago I had my catalytic converters and o.t. sensors replaced. Probably unnecessarily due to Midas not knowing the correct diagnostic check. Lo and behold, my car smoked up and what do you know....Midas put the WRONG convertors in my vehicle! This is real life. They offer an oil change to " compensate " but 3 days later when we pick up our vehicle, Chris Thomas says, " oops, forgot to do the oil change. Mistakes happen". Midas is in the market for making mistakes. Please don't make the mistake of bringing your vehicle to this location. read more

ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION. I needed to get the tires on my car realigned and it quickly turned into multiple problems with a bill of about $9000. The person assisting me explained the issues but I am nowhere near knowledgeable with cars yet. This all ended up scaring me especially the stories of other drivers getting into accidents for the same issue. I had gotten a second opinion the following week and the issues were not as bad as Midas had exaggerated. The other place was able to repair the issues for about $700. Bait and switch beware...stopped by to get my car tires changed out. Asked for a quote on timing and serpentine belt $350 and $109 respectively. I said go ahead and get it done along with alignment of tires. 5 mins goes by its going to take 3hrs because it is a unquie vehicle...20 mins goes by and now out the door price jumps from $665 to a whopping $998 out the door because the vehicle is "unquie"...I had already looked around...the internet "yourmechanic" and "repairpal"the cost was going to be $600 to $900 +/- 10% I knew this going in....I though honest mechanics lower end great of the scale...what I have a problem with was the price kept changing kept getting higher price...Please front desk people represent your business...you should only have the best at the front...e.g. knowledgeable mechanic who quotes a price and stick with it...period...remember this was preventative maintenance there was nothing going on except my owners manual said change timing belt and i was going to change it...I feel sorry for uninformed customers or mechanically uninclinded who don't know or not willing to stand up and demand better...service. read more

Monday The following narration is what occurred too the letter vehicle which is factual; the conclusion is under review: On the 5th of Feb the vehicle (2005 MB CLK 500) was pick up by I and my wife from the Bandera Midas Shop , she drove the Mercedes. I follow in my vehicle behind hers in my Chevy HHR. She proceeded to get in the car-wash (Zip Car-Wash/Bandera Rd.) entryway which was we normally don for the pass two years at the same car wash that in which I have a monthly membership with. As my wife exited the car wash a slight dip with is normal when leaving the guide-tracks. Vehicle stalled, which had to be push out of the exit-way then a tow truck was called for the vehicle returned back to the Bandera Midas Shop it arrived back there after business hours'. On Tuesday the 5th after 2 pm. I notice that my MB CLK 500 was out side in the parking lot facing opposite of the car stall bays with the hood up and no one attending it. When I confronted Bubba that Wednesday and brought it too the mechanic attention (Bubba) he just nonchalantly dismissed it as being normal, it's was no problem. I fond this to be problematic with an added fear now of a dire regret why did I let this particular shop repair this vehicle; my instincts were telling me quite loudly now, there is horrible possibility of a very bad outcome for my vehicle. On Wednesday the 6th of Feb. when Bubba related this information; due to Bubba was out of the shop Tuesday, picking up supplies or out for the day on that day prior which was that Tuesday which I missed the opportunity to get all the information sooner. Also, Chris seem to me unsure about Bubba whereabouts on that Tuesday. I asked the Manager Chris if Bubba came up with a prognosis too my cars' problem he informed me according mechanic team "it was water shorted main car computer". I toll Chris in response that this was hard to believe due to the fact I running this car though this same car-wash for the pass two years without any problem. His remark was (rude & confrontational) "Are you calling my people are liars!" I did not respond: I was also informed by the manager I on that day that a new lead Technician (Chris) will arrived on Monday the 12 of Feb. to help in the in the analysis of the problem. On Tuesday 13 Feb. I was tolled by the manager Chris, Bubba was off, I then found out the he toke vacation time until the week of 19th be back. On the 15th of Feb. I talk to Chris the new lead mechanical tech, I ask for his analysis in which he give a complete detail report on what were the sequence of of event that probably took place which did shorten the main computer system on my vehicle, he relayed to me that this is so far is mutual consensus conclusion in accordance with the Mechanic Team diagnosis. How the water got there is inconclusive: Yes, I did fine this to be totally preposterous but how the water got there too short-out a 'sealed computer system"? I sill thank this is an ambiguous statement too assume; unfortunate that is what it seem be in my thoughts at the time, too be just some type of a ruse, too try to imply or suggest too convince me that it was the car wash was the source or culprit of this water damage which cause the "electrical-short too the main cars' computer". This shop history has been flagged on its dubious repair actions. I myself have seen this inquisition when a few years ago with the same vehicle it took two radiators to get it right. At that time I was inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. A special note: The Mechanic Tech Chris give the best step-by-step explanation he assured me and eased my anxiety no one in this shop did that for me, a total professional. In conclusion: it's still an item that is ongoing work in progress and though i feel incline too be on the pessimistic side on this issue, but because of the new lead tech. Chris's thorough explanation showing me exactly all the evidence that caused the the eclectically failure too the computer system in question I must find this to be factual and accurate but at the same token I feel that it this shops" responsibility too make it right without any cost too me too ratify this unfortunate situation is paramount. read more

I had a check engine light on that I got checked at auto zone. It came up as a catalytic convertor issue. Went to midas and was told I needed 2 new converters and 4 ot sensors. Total of $2,ooo. A special was written on their board for a free brake check/repair for over $500 worth of service. David refused to honor it. Said the offer had ended they just forgot to erase it. Few weeks later my check engine lights up again. I take it back to midas. They say my alternator is faulty. Ring me up an invoice for $900. David is fired and now Rick is the new Scam Boss. I ask them how they didn't catch this alternator problem the first time and they blame David, the guy who is conveniently not employed there anymore. I decide to take me vehicle to the Dodge dealership. Not only is my alternator perfectly fine - I drove to Vegas and back- I'm told the likelihood of all my converters and sensors needing to be replaced is as good as the Cleveland Browns winning a super bowl. read more

Stay as far away as possible. This location is trying to steal you blind. I had just recently moved to SA and needed an oil change on my 2015 vehicle. Had a coupon for Midas and this location was close by. I had been hearing some grinding with the brakes and even though my bro (a mechanic) had said it was probably just rust, thought I would ask them to check. I also asked if a tire rotation would be included with the oil change and they said sure, since I asked for one. OMG! These guys came back with the stupidest scam ever! Said not only did I need new brake pads all around (down to 1mm), I also needed new rotors on all four wheels. WHAT! Not thinking these guys were trying to scam me, I asked the manager what would cause this type of damage in 3 years and he said he couldn't really say, just maybe my braking habits or the climate. Well, I pushed more and asked if this could be some factory defect or something and he just wanted to keep pushing new rotors on me. Well, I left and called my dealer who had been doing maintenance on the vehicle every 6 months and they didn't find any note about rotors or brake pads getting low. We discussed the braking process of the vehicle and they said that my auto doesn't even engage the brake pads until last 15% of brake process. He definitely recommended I take to local dealer, which I did. Thank goodness I got a second opinion. My brake pads were at 7mm/8mm and the only reason I was hearing grinding was because of some rust. Not something to worry about. The dealership showed me my brake pads and it was obvious that they were fine. And by the way, Midas didn't rotate my tires as I requested. I had a slow leak in the front left tire before getting the oil change, still same tire loosing air after the oil change. I really wonder if they gave me the full synthetic oil that I paid for. Stay away from these people. They just want to rip you off! I also posted this on the Midas website, and it didn't show up in their list of reviews, so again, just scamming all around. Also, mentioned this ordeal to my sister, she said she had some questionable interactions with this Midas location also and won't go back. Shady place. read more

Agree with others - too busy, and don't count on their quoted time. I was referred by discount tire down the street for a tire alignment (which they apparently get a lot of). I got there and was quoted 1 1/2 hrs. 1 1/2 hrs later, my car hadn't even been touched. I asked the guy how much longer, and he said 30 min. 5 min later, he said he was sorry but thought that I was coming in for an oil change. At that point, I decided not to waste any more of my time, so I left having wasted 1 1/2 hrs of my life sitting there. I feel worse for the guy sitting next to me - he was actually coming in for an oil change and had been waiting TWO hrs. Unbelievable. They may do good work, but I'll never know because they weren't honest (or realistic) about how long they think the wait would be. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. I walked in on 9/12 just for an inspection on my vehicle. The lady at the front desk was talking to a customer (family friend maybe) so I waited until she was done. I had to engage the conversation with her to tell her what I needed. She said the worker just got done with another car (customer she was talking too) and he hadn't gone to lunch yet. She asked if I could wait while he ate his sandwich. Of course I said no she just said okay. I would've understood if the guy was already at lunch. The customer should come first. 5 min for a car inspection to be completed however she wanted me to wait for him to eat lunch first. Btw. They were closing in an hour. Doesn't make sense to me. Giving a 1 star is not even going to justify the dissatisfaction with this location. Not to mention the fact that their District Manager, Store Manager or whatever he claims to be, Chris Thomas does nothing to help a situation but egg the customer on to the point of anger. We have taken our vehicle to this location 4xs now for the same issue. The 1st time (November 2016) was at the direction of the body shop that worked on our vehicle, at which point Midas replaced the catalyst converters and 4 O2 Sensors on our vehicle for a price tag of over $2200 (which we agreed because we TRUSTED their judgment). In addition to the amount we paid, there was a 'special promotion" for a free brake service (front and back) with any repair of $500.00 or more. Since we were spending over $2200, i mentioned that we would like to take advantage of the special promotion, to which I was told they would only be doing the front breaks because the promotion ended by the time our part came in even though we paid when the promotion was in effect. Hence, only the front brakes were done. When I asked for proof that the catalyst converters were replaced I was told that they were immediately sent back to the location that Midas is required to send them to. Our first encounter was with David. In December 2016, we were told we were still having a catalyst converter issue and that their may have been a possible alternator issue to which they attempted to get another $900 out of us for the repair of the alternator along with an assurance that the catalyst converters were fine. In reality, all we needed was a new battery and we were told the catalyst converter was fine. On January 3, 2017, I contacted Midas again and this time I was put in touch with Chris Thomas (for the first time), I informed Chris that our check engine light was still on and giving the code of the catalyst converter and I needed to get them checked because this continues to be the issue. At this time, I also informed Chris Thomas about the fact that the special promotion was not fully complied with at my 1st visit and of the fact that we were told that we needed to get a new alternator when in reality all we needed was a battery. At this time, Chris apologized for the inconvenience, provided the back brake service per the original special promotion, confirmed that our alternator was fine and provided a credit for the fact that we needed to go elsewhere to buy a battery and confirmed that all was good with our catalyst converters (again). Now, April 8, 2017, while driving our vehicle with our 4 children, our vehicle began to start smoking and had a burning smell. We immediately took the vehicle to Auto Zone for a diagnostic check only to be told that we were again getting the same code for catalyst converter and O2 Sensors. I called Midas even though it was close to closing time and Rick stated that I could bring it in Monday morning at opening for it to be checked (again). I took the vehicle to Midas Monday at 7:30 a.m. By about noon, I was contacted and told that the converters that were placed on our vehicle were not compatible with our vehicle and that they were going to be replacing them under the warranty. Since the vehicle was already there and they were already under the hood, we asked that an oil change be done on our vehicle. On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, I was told my vehicle would be complete and ready by close of day and all would be completed. Low and behold, I get there at 6pm and am told that an oil change was not done, Chris was not aware that the oil change needed to be done - although the paperwork clearly stated oil change- and Chris' next comment was "we all make mistakes." He offered to do the oil change at 610 p.m. despite the fact that they had our vehicle for 3 days. I explained I could not wait because I needed to get home to my children and he shrugged his shoulders. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with having to bring the vehicle back multiple times for the same issue, he instead stated that it was our fault for allowing the mechanic who originally worked on it at his location to do the job. I asked Chris why he had originally told us that the catalyst converters were good on our vehicle on January 3, 2017 when he informed us that he wanted to recheck them because the manager, David that was there before was fired for all kinds of misappropriated issues at the facility. Chris' response again was We all make mistakes. At this point, I asked for the number to corporate office, to which Chris gave me the wrong number and had his employee give me the wrong last name for Chris. Once I was angry, I may have used a "curse word" that unfortunately, Chris Thomas has never heard before after being repeatedly told with shrugging shoulders that he couldn't help me. Please don't give these people your money. Their business needs to die and stop dragging the generally respectable Midas name through the dirt. PRO: staff is decently approachable CON: EVERYTHING else. The management must be on a permanent vacation. The oil line in my car was leaking, so we had to get the car towed to the nearest repair shop. Unfortunately, the Midas on Bandera near Heubner was that shop. They quoted thousands for the repair because they were trying to purchase the entire assemblage for the oil line from the manufacturer instead of diagnosing the problem and only ordering the parts they would need. When we declined the service (because it was simply too expensive) and went to load the car on a trailer to transport it home, we needed a few guys to help load the car with us. The entire staff refused and just stared at us as we attempted to load the car. Throughout the process they had be uncommunicative and impatient as staff, but I cannot forgive their heartlessness as human beings. read more
