This place is terrible. To start off, none of the employees weren't wearing any face covering at all nor gloves. I came in today to get my oil changed. It took a hour and half for the job to be done. When I got back into my car, my check engine was on. I confronted the man who worked on my car. He told me that it was already on and walked away. I knew he was lying. The other guy told me that I needed to get my car jumped because of the battery. He wanted to charge me for a diagnostic and to replaced the battery which would of cost me near $400 plus the diagnostic. I said hell no. Seems like they were running a scam. Funny thing about my check engine light is that I just got my car smog last month and I couldn't passed smog if my light was on. I also get my car maintenance regularly and have all the paper work to prove everything in my car is working properly. I advice people to do never go there unless you want your vehicle tamper with. read more

I am so relieved, because in this MIDAS location I feel that I have finally found a good and reliable location to service my brakes and my vehicle on a regular basis. My car was making a "squeaking noise" the other day, so I took it in to the dealer. The dealer quoted an astronomical amount. I decided to try MIDAS, I was welcomed by Joe and he was quick to bring in my car and walk me through and show me my brake pads. Turns out I only needed back brakes and things were taken care of that same day. I was even able to find a coupon online! My tires were also rotated, free of charge. The service was friendly and informative. It was a pleasure doing business with this group and I plan to return for regular oil changes and brake check-ups! Thanks guys! read more

I have been coming to this shop for nearly ten years. Ownership and managers have changed, but the quality of the services and the prices have remained consistent. They are probably the best mechanics on the west side of town. They have saved me a lot of money compared to what I would have paid at the dealer. They are knowledgeable and they don't push you into getting unnecessary work done. I have recommended Midas as a chain to other people who have asked me, and they were very satisfied as well. My car stays in top form by taking it there for trusted service. Their recommendations along with prices seem in-line when I have double checked their suggestions. I have not found a reason to doubt them as I might have when I first started coming to this place. I was only moved to write a review because I had such a great experience here today! When I called for a quote on an oil change, the manager Phil was so helpful and polite, inquiring my name and services and also gave me information on other questions I had. This was the only reason I decided to come in. Once there, Phil and Joe were so courteous and helpful. They noticed I had mix-matched tires and let me know I shouldn't have my tires rotated because it would make my car swurve (I didn't know that), also they were kind enough to tell me my percentages on my brake pads and even tired to read why my check engine light was on (couldn't though because it's a merecedes, dealership only). Those guys really know what they are talking about! They're honest and friendly! I guess those other 2 below me just got some info they didnt like, maybe because these guys here at Midas actually will inspect everything and simply give you honest feedback, take it or leave it. Do NOT go here! Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had work done on my car a couple of months ago and the same problem came back, so I returned expecting them to stand by their work. The mangager was immediately defensive and said it was a different problem, then had the audacity to say he would charge me $70 to diagnose the problem on top of the $300 I had paid just months earlier. When I told him this was unacceptable customer service, he launched into an expletive laden tirade. These guys really gave me a complete work-over when I brought my 1999 Saturn Wagon in for what I thought was simply adjusting a badly squeaking parking brake. The back brakes were really gone, and the front may as well have been (after all that mountain driving this summer). Guess what, it turned out I DID need all that stuff on their list - including transmission service, balding tires, and a shaky engine mount, which meant I need alignment. And my driving buddy had left the parking brake on a few times, so the drums needed reshaping, or whatever, and the brake lines were so gummed up they needed new fluid. OK that's a bunch of items. And they gave me first class service, showed me all my broken parts, I was thrilled to have a safe, reliable car again! So happy I could rely on them to give me a thorough repair job. And later, when I had to replace a tire because I nicked it doing a tight turn, I had road insurance, and thus the tire was free, and the alignment was a coupon, AND he fixed my wobbly headlamp! VERY DISHONEST. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! Went in for a 60,000 mile tune up. They told me my head gasket was blown and needed about $2,300 dollars worth of repairs then my fiance got him down to $1,475- which I thought was a very big difference and was strange. I took the car the same day to my usual guys and found out nothing was wrong with the head gasket. Just needed a tune up and front brake pads. Midas completely lied through their teeth. I am so glad a got a second opinion. read more

This place is a total rip off. Went in here to get a little thing done for my muffler as my mechanic didn't have the facility to do it. They said I needed to leave the car for a couple of hours while they checked it out. They called me a few hours later and told me it was going to be $1,100 for the job and that it would take a couple of days, but they would arrange an car rental for me. Called my mechanic back and he choked when I told him the price. He told me to go somewhere else. Took my car back, drove down the street to another spot, dropped if off, it was fixed in an hour for about $75. Avoid this place! read more

I had to change my rear breaks so I decided to choose Midas because I thought a good genuine company but after I changed my breaks my car getting very bad noises like binding breaks so I went to the Midas and I told the guy Broulio he's the one helping with me so he checked and he said something wrong with the break pads so I told him that I brought new good pads and roots from Autozone it is one of the good company that I know and I told him this sounds wasn't coming before but he was so rude and he refused to check my car and now I'm driving my car with dangerous situation . i would give them MINUS 10 stars if allowed. it was a disaster for what happened today, for several reasons: First, i ordered right side mirror replacement, they told me it could be done within two hours. it turned out after FOUR hours from 10:30am to 2:30pm, the mirror was still not replaced. they said it because of $%#. bull&*$t, i do not need cr@p explanation. if you were not sure you can do it within two hours, you should not promise it and let me wait there for FOUR hours. Oh, by the way, they wanted to put a mirror with black shell on my grey car for $119. Second, when i went to the store, they claimed they could easily beat Pepboy in price to fix other two problems, which involved about $400, you know how much their sever ice was cheaper, 3 CENT, oh, by the way, including the coupon. The major disadvantage they have is the parts price, almost 1.5 times the price Pepboys provides. For example, i replaced the brake pads, the parts price is 89.99 in Midas and 50.99 in Pepboys. So if your car needs little labor work but expensive parts, suggest you go to other places. Third, the manager who you can complaint to, a very busy man, however, could not understand problem effectively. Prepare for your explanation of the complaint, cause it will take a while for him to figure it out. I was so disappointed i had such a bad experience to fix a car problem for the first time, and I will NEVER go to midas again. Update: I just ordered the right side mirror from Amazon for only $20.99. Fortunately i did not wait for another 10 minutes for the replacement in Midas. read more

This morning I needed help fixing a light bulb and pulled into Midas without an appointment. Greg was more than happy to help me out and changed the bulb in less than 10 minutes. I had one of the most terrible experiences ever. I took my car into Midas ( X5 BMW) to fix it's brakes. That was not a good idea. I thought I'd save some money by taking it there verses the BMW shop in Santa Monica. They told me they needed to change the brake pads and that I also needed new rooters. I guess they ended up changing the brake pads, but restored the rooters. Two weeks later the car was still making noise. I took it back and they told me the pads had to be replaced. A month later I call them and tell them my car is still making some noise They take a look at my car do something to it, and a month later it's still making some noise. I finally take somewhere else James Imports (just down the street from Midas), they tell me the rooters need to be replaced. I then tell them Midas was suppose to have fixed them and they tell me that the job they did was pretty much shotty. I call Midas and they tell me they will replace the rooters , that they will do the labor for free, but that I have to pay for the parts ( they destoyed). I say no way. Then I get into an argument with the Midas Mgr. I tell him that I'd like the car fixed and would not like to come back again to deal with this situation. He then tells me that he would not like to see me car there either (That made me made mad) He tells me he'll have the District Mgr. call me. The District Mgr never calls, so I call back the following day. The Midas Mgr says "Bring the car in and we'll take a look at it". I hang up and then freak out because not only is he giving me the run a round, but I feel that if I were a man this would have never happened. So I pick up the phone and flip out on him and tell him I want the District Mgr to call me. I was sick of dealing with him not wanting to deal with the problem. Three month's of the run a round.Finally, I speak to the District Mgr. He calms me down and after a little discussing and a huge pit in my tummy, ( I hating turning into a crazy lady) he tells me they will replace the rooters and the pads. It took three months to solve this problems. Anyway, don't go to this Midas, but after dealing with the nice District Mgr, I wouldn't mind going to another one. They are Midas after all and they have to solve the problem, customer service is important to them, just not to this Mgr. read more

CHEATS AND LIARS!!!!!!!!! I took my car in because my headlights kept blowing out. James, the manager, told me that I needed a new headlight assembly and the cost for JUST the part (not labor) was $600 from the dealer of $535 aftermarket. The total repair would have been upwards of $700 so I got a 2nd and 3rd opinion (one from the dealer and one from another auto shop) and found out that all i really needed was a headlight connector, a $60 part. I specifically asked James if he was sure all i needed wasn't just a connector because i knew that was a common cause for this problem on VWs and James told me no, they checked that, which was a complete LIE. So not only did they lie about me needing a $700+ repair that I absolutely did not need, they lied about the cost of those unneeded parts ($174 versus $600). These people are scam artists and if you read the other reviews it's clear I am not the only one who had that problem with them. If you do go there, get a 2nd opinion before you give them a penny!!! They are as unscrupulous as they come. UPDATE: after reporting this franchise to Midas corporate, I got a call from James apologizing, saying he "accidentally" rang up the estimate twice, accidentally charging me double!!!!! First of all, he never wrote up an estimate, he never even asked my name. Second, I find it very hard to believe that he accidentally verbally doubled the price of the part after he faked called VW in front of me and told me the (inflated) cost of the part. CHEATS AND LIARS. And a little extra bonus, he told me that my car is really expensive to repair and that HIS cost for one vw headlight is $13-16 (versus the normal $5-6 for other cars). I walked right across the street to Autozone and bought a headlight for $6.99. Shameless! read more

I made an appointment for an oil change for today, and dropped my car off. I came back after an hour and found they hadn't gotten to it- I couldn't wait b/c I had to go and I was annoyed, but the manager gave me a voucher for a free oil change. I did my errands and ended up coming back. I waited the hour, and when I came back in, the manager had met me at the door with my keys, pet my dog, and apologized sincerely. I handed him the voucher he gave me and he told me to keep it for next time. Two free oil changes! Woohoo! I thought it was so sweet and his genuine apology and the amazing customer service made a potential 1 star review into a 5. Even though they messed up on my initial oil change, I will definitely continue to go there, even after i use my next free oil change coupon! :) read more

I went to get my shocks and struts changed, but while getting the estimate the guy with the green eyes calls me into the service area, where the vehicle is up a bit and tells me my vehicle has no oil. Procedes to try to fool me doing the oldest trick in the book, faking putting in the dip stick. I do my own oil changes so i knew it was bs. Carefull with these crooks. I took my truck to a place that changed me 300 less than them. Japanese guy. I even have the estimate they gave me as proof. Better business bureau plack right in front of the office. These guys are great. I came here for a new transmission after mine decided to stop working as I was in 4 lanes of traffic, climbing a hill. Needless to say, I was stressed. Joe and James were friendly, personable, and straight talking. I have gone back to have it checked, and a few other odds and ends fixed on my car. They treat me like a friend. Recently Joe went on a drive with my dad and I to help figure out what was wrong with my sister's car. He took the time to really make sure he was diagnosing the problem correctly. They always are nice on the phone, remember me, and make time to get me in. I couldn't ask for a better group of mechanics behind my car. They have my service today and in the future. Best of all, I trust them. Something I never thought I would say about a mechanic. If there isn't something wrong with your car, they won't tell you there is. They are a lifesaver! read more

I also have had a pretty poor experience with this Midas. I have taken my wife's car to this Midas for about a year. Joe and Phil always seemed really nice, and I felt like they were working with me to keep prices low, etc. However, they couldn't seem to fix the car and we kept spending money on things they recommended. After reading the negative yelp reviews, we tried a local automotive shop, and the difference was immediate. They fixed two things that were poorly installed, and the car is running better than it has in a year. I don't believe that the guys at Midas intentionally messed up our car, I just think that they aren't very good at fixing things. read more

The customer service at this location was simply outstanding. I interacted with the manager Greg and one of the employees Braulio. They were both pleasant and friendly the entire time I was there. Then I realized my wallet was missing when it was time to pay. They handed me the keys to my car so I could go and look for it at the library I'd just come from. They were so kind and understanding they could have easily told me that I couldn't leave until I paid, but they were completely understanding. I drove back to the library, where my wallet was, and then back to Midas to pay where they were again so friendly and understanding. I will absolutely be coming back! read more

1: roll over the star system, be realistic. There are gradations if the scale is an accurate indicator of a business' quality. 2: Yelp reviews to find brake service around Venice, LA seem hinky. Low ratings seem written by angry customers, yet 5-star ratings follow the same script structures, as if written by computer. This review is not those. 3: I know mechanics, knew my specific problem. 4: I'm a mom-and-pop guy, meaning I naturally un-gravitate from corporate anything. 5: The mom-and-pop shop I took my van to - a shop I'd been going to for smogging, other small stuff - balked at my issue: rattling under the driver's wheel at low speeds. I wanted that driver's wheel pulled and an inspection of the front pads. Pop put the vehicle on the lift for a fee, then informed me that I was looking at two new calipers, pads, discs, for $700. Baloney. I paid the van off their lift and hightailed, permanently. If they were on Yelp, I would literally end their business with the details. With a compromised (drivable) vehicle with a likely bad brake pad wiggling around, I made it over to this Midas thinking, "You know what? F' the negative reviews, I know what's wrong, I know ballpark how to fix it." Called this Midas from the parking lot of Mom/Pop. Midas says no appointment required, so I went over. When I pulled in I was dripping coolant. This was a new flow, stupidly serendipitous, but it happened. Kevin, manager, great on phone. Bring it in, I did, leaking coolant now, blah. Listened carefully, was on my same page as far as diagnosis on the brake/caliper issue. Coolant leak seemed right: water pump (a good, careful put-off for two years of 500 miles, not leaking but getting hotter and hotter...). So, same day, no appointment, biked away (bike in back of van) home a half-mile away. Kevin said they should have on the rack in an hour (racks were full when I pulled in). Took 2.5 hours to rack, but communicated. Kevin stated a same day fix POSSIBILITY, turned out to be a next day. I was right on track. Brake pad cracked, not only the pad, but the backing. Less than $200 to re-pad the front brakes, mom/pop wanted $700 to replace nothing that needed to be replaced. The water pump was bad, replaced. I recall the last words from mom/pop as I was walking out the door: "How much do you want to pay?" The answer is, "I want to pay nothing to your business." I didn't think this kind of crap could possibly exist in a real-world, competitive environment. But there it was. Midas did a routine job, quickly, and may have changed my min. Plus, their transaction counter feels like a fast-food counter. I ponder this, with the "menu" overhead. I like it, although it could be a little more specific... The fact that it's not likely lives in the distrust customers have about the history of televised rip-offs. -Going back, we're at "sixth" - Brakes fine. Replaced water pump required movement of the primary belt that runs everything - generator/alternator... everything. Paid the bill, less than $600 for front brakes AND new water pump, installed. Started the van, belt tensioner SCREAMING! Me: "Kevin, what up with this insane sound I've never heard before?! After I've paid and I want to pull out of Midas?!" Kevin goes: Kevin: "Give the tensioner a little bit of time." More to this, but indeed, 20 miles later the squealing settled out, now the entire engine is quiet. Open invite from Kevin to fix anything related to water pump replacement with no labor cost. I may take him up on that, but if it's quiet and cool, I have no issues. So, first choice mom/pop for $400 minimum to change both calipers, new pads, warped discs (very, very low estimate), or Midas for less than $200 for new pads. I have nothing to do with Midas or mom/pop, even though I'm kinda pimping Midas for these basic, obvious fixes. Open to any questions, this is what happened. read more

I would give this place 0 starts of Yelp would let me. Moving to another state, came in for a simple brake job. Was talked into WAY MORE WORK than I actually needed. However, going on a long trip I am not opposed to making sure that my car is in tip top shape. Gave them the green light to do all the work necessary (and some not so necessary work) to make sure that the car is A-OK. I told them I was going on a long trip, would not be back, and to make sure that everything worked properly. I feel take advantage of (knowing I wasn't going to be back) in that NOTHING this shop did turned out correctly. I had to stop at two other Midas' along the way on my trip because my brakes were making noises. It took a total of 5 return trips to get my car working right. The parts they put on my vehicle are now warrantied out because they never worked from the beginning. Incompetent mechanics, terrible sell you up mentality, and NO cash discount. I am beyond frustrated with this shop. DO NOT COME HERE. read more
