This place is the absolute worst. I went there last year to get my car inspected after waiting almost 2 hours. I was told that I needed to replace a back light. That was fine so I agreed. I waited at least another hour and a half and the person at the front desk told me unfortunately they can't get the light in by the end of the day. He went ahead and gave me an inspection sticker and told me for my hassle of sitting there all day. All I had to do is come back and they would order the light and put it in for free. Due to a severe illness, I was not able to come back in until a year later. I even called the night before was told no problem. We'll fix the light. I understand yes that I waited a year however, I just wanted an inspection and finally given and said please just fix the light and I'll pay. A few minutes later I was told it would be at least an hour till I got in and that it would be another hour after that. While I was waiting, I got on the phone and spoke with my sister. I complained about this place and was telling her I wasn't sure if I was gonna stay. The asshole comes out who works there and said before you start bitching about my business to your guy, did you tell him you were late for your appointment. I immediately said my conversation is private. And then went on to say how dare you assume I was talking to my guy. I said it was my sister and it was none of his business. He then went on to say, did you tell your sister you waited a year to come back. I said you have no idea why I didn't come back and again none of your business. He immediately got my keys and kicked me out and told me never to come back. Trust me not only will not come back, but I'm here to give an honest review. Not only was the guy beyond a jerk, but he went and did unethical things by listening to my conversation and assuming things, especially my illness. I left and immediately went to Meineke in Merrimack. They were absolutely wonderful. I was in and out in 30 minutes and the best part I didn't need a new light. I was greeted by Brian at the front desk when I arrived , he came from sitting at his desk in the room behind the counter wall , I was there to get a state inspection on my truck , my wife left there an hour earlier after getting her vehicle inspected and made me an appointment . After talking with Brian , the vehicle inspection should take only a half hour , I sat down and waited . After 45 minutes I noticed my truck was just being pulled into the bay . Around 30 minutes later Brian walked up to the front desk and presented me with a list of issues that he claimed failed inspection . Now I want you to know , while I was sitting in their waiting room , I decided to read reviews on this midas location , why not , they gave me ample time . The reviews showed dozens of people claiming to be scammed into having work done when it didn't need to be done . So I let Brian read off the list to me . I noticed first , they wanted to replace parts that were done recently , telling me they were old and need replacement . Then I looked at the price they wanted to charge me . Let's put it this way , their prices are ridicules along with their claims of faulty equipment . It was a $ 2800.00 estimate for the work . I told him , I'm going to get a second opinion and wanted to pay for just the inspection only . I payed and left . I made an appointment with Firestone to do a full inspection on my truck , I had to wait two days to have this done . They did a top to bottom inch by inch inspection . All of the big items that midas tried to hit me with passed the inspection , they even noticed the new parts that were installed . My truck did fail for a single o2 sensor , which I'm replacing all of them , it was only $40.00 for the four of them . So I splurged . I almost forgot to say , after Brian gave me the estimates for the work that he claimed I needed , 10 minutes later he gave me vehicle inspection report . His mechanic failed me for the single o2 sensor . None of the additional $2700.00 worth of work . So Brian is the Manager , and he likes to scam people . I'm definitely going to let everyone know . He's a scam artist . And needs to be replaced . Don't go here for anything , not even directions .. read more

Requested a quote for exhaust issues and underbody noise. On review, Corey (sp?) was correct that my exhaust was shot, but also insisted that I needed 4 new brakes, including rotors, pads and eBrake repair - he made this diagnosis based on the "sounds" my car made, and without pulling a single tire to expose the brakes. When asked for a more detailed understanding about how he came to this evaluation, he grew agitated and insisted that he wouldn't work with customers that did not trust him. He's correct. I don't trust him, and neither should you. A second evaluation with a more reputable shop identified the real issue was related to the exhaust, and had nothing to do with the brakes. Stay away. This wasn't a simple disagreement over how to repair an identified problem, it was a sham to upsell unneeded services. Stay away. read more

I went in for an inspection on my Jeep, I was one of two people in the business when I arrived, an elderly woman was waiting on her inspection too. I have been having my cars inspected for over thirty years and car inspections should take a half hour, this took two hours. They had my car put up on the lifts several times. As I waited they finally took care of the elderly woman who they told failed for several reasons. As I still waited she said "watch your wallets with these guys". I had to agree especially the longer I waited. Finally after two hours I was told the manager Corey was going to speak to me, which I knew was not good news. He proceeded to show me a shopping list of items he highlighted and ending in almost 2800.00 to pass the inspection. I knew then and there this was a cash grab. I will be taking my car elsewhere to have it re-inspected, where I am sure it will pass. I am glad that there will be no further inspections required in NH in 2026. Garages like this are sick and are why people don't trust mechanics. I will never return there nor will I ever suggest anyone else do either. read more

I came here for an inspection on my vehicle and they failed me saying my exhaust system was leaking, I didn't see the car running when they showed me where it was leaking, I took the car back to where I had the exhaust system done they had a Look at it and tested it while it was running and there is no leaks. They wanted to charge me $1500 for a new exhaust system, I will never never ever go back here and I would never recommend anybody coming here. read more

I just left here, last time I was there it was for an oil change, left with 4 brand new tires that I was told I needed and since I was aware they were low and I was taking a long trip I went ahead with this. As soon as i left the store I found same tires elsewhere $500.00 cheaper but this is on me, not them...fool me once shame on you! Today I went in for a vehicle inspection. Before they even took the car the gentleman that took more than 10 minutes to notice me, in an empty place informed me, last time I was there they suggested repairs on my very well maintained 2018 Hyundai Sonata. I said you're telling me about repairs without even looking at it. After an hour, they came back with a $1,700. 00 quote for brake work and wiper blades and other miscellaneous items. I told them wow it failed inspection for all that. Please just give me paperwork I will get it checked elsewhere. They informed me of a re-inspection fee if I bring it back to them. They brought whom I assume was the manager out, he "worked his magic" as he said, brought down the quote to $970.00 for brake work and wipers, I still said no. Proceeded to pay for the inspection and requested the failed inspection paperwork. He informed me, we left it in the car. HMMM, seems nice enough since I'm in a wheelchair and it takes me a bit to get in and out of the car. Yet I had other paperwork one more piece of paper I could have managed. I believe in integrity, face to face. So after I get into my vehicle and uplift my wheelchair I look over my "failed inspection". Everything passed, failed me for wipers not brakes. Fool me twice shame on me! You just lost a loyal customer. Two strikes and you're out! I'm sure my vehicle will pass elsewhere....my wipers are new! read more

I came into this Midas location for a state inspection on my CRV. They failed my inspection stating that the tread on my tires was too worn to pass. They immediately gave me a very high quote on four new tires. I knew that the tread was not that warn so I took it to a family-owned business down the street. They passed my inspection with no problem! They said I had some wear on my tires but there was absolutely NO reason for them to not pass state inspection. This place is AWFUL! It started with the guy at the counter. You could tell he was flustered it was a tad bit busy when I got there. I asked how long a inspection would take he said under an hour. Well 2 hours later here I am with NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED! At one point the guy who runs the front LEFT! And the front was unattended with customers waiting in line for at least 15-20 mins. You can tell this company goes OUT OF THEIR WAY to find problems with your car. They offer a $25 inspection fee with the intentions of finding random little things to charge you for. My advice to anyone reading this PLEASE SUPPORT A LOCAL GARAGE! They need your money more then these money hungry corporations. And will be far more honest with you. read more

After having my transmission fluid "accidentally"drained during my OIL change at the Mobil down the road I brought my car to Midas to verify that everything was okay with my car. It turned out that Mobil barely refilled my transmission fluid and didn't clean up oil they had spilled on the undercover of my car. Brian both cleaned the oil off and refilled my transmission fluid free of charge. I can't thank them enough for the help they were in getting me out of the mess that the Mobil left me in. read more

I was greeted by Bill whom is the new manager and most personable gentlemen I've meet in a long time. I do not doubt he will be an asset to this establishment. He was completely professional and clear with what was included with my service. Waiting room is clean and inviting which is a nice change from what I've seen in this industry as a whole. The bathroom was clean and had toilet seat covers stocked. Two techs walked me out to my car, showed me what they suspected was the issue and covered my options. I never felt any pressure whatsoever. This was the only place in the area that we could get a "quick" inspection done on one of our vehicles. Several hours later, they called to say that our car would not pass inspection, and in order for it to we would need to replace 3 parts, all totally around $1000. Needless to say, we took our car and looked elsewhere for another opinion. We did end up with a non-chain owned mechanic (the one that is voted #1 in the Hippo) that immediately said that 2 of the 3 things that we were told by Midas would not affect our inspection even if they did need replacing. As it turns out, all that was needed was a charcoal filter. The other 2 things Midas told us we "had" to replace were completely fine. I can only assume that being a chain they have very specific quotas to maintain for corporate. The business of telling customers "they need XYZ", that their car is unsafe, and won't pass inspection without these fixes are ways to help them meet bottom line, despite the fact it is dubious, to say the least! read more

This place is horrible! I've gotten tires changed there twice. The first time, they put the wrong tire on. Then, I was forced to go back to them when I got a flat tire right next to the store. This time, unknown to me, they put a discontinued tire on my car. 15 minutes after I left, the tire blew out on the highway! Only when I went back to tell them about it did they tell me it was a discontinued tire. And, because of this, they claimed they couldn't replace it either. Stay away! Only Terrible management would put discontinued tires on people's cars and not even tell them. read more

So seeing all the recent reviews, I feel mine will just get lost in the rest of the one stars. I will consider it therapy. I have actually been bringing cars here for years to get inspections, oil changes, etc... I have been fortunate that our cars have been fairly reliable, only needing basic repairs that I do not mind doing like brakes and light maintenance items. I have them do the oil just because time and hassle makes it cheaper to have someone else do it. I have always felt I was treated fairly. Until last week... Brought my daughters car in for a slow leak and asked them to look at the front end as there was a noise when going over bumps. I was worried there may be a safety issue like a ball joint or tie rod problem. got a call that the tire was done, but the noise was going to cost me $$. $1200+ for struts, sway bar links and an alignment. I was a bit speechless at the price. I wasn't questioning the diagnosis (yet anyway), but I am familiar with the cost of these parts and felt the cost was way too high. the manager did say that it wasn't a safety issue...yet. At that admission I said I would need to get back to him on the front end work. He offered to do a cheaper front end alignment (-$60)...no thanks. Offered credit card financing...no thanks. An hour later the manager called and just as a suggestion they could just try the sway bar links...that might take car of the noise. I said I'll just come get the car. Now I will say that I suspected the sway bar links before I brought it in after some googling, and if that was the first diagnosis I probably would have had Midas do it. Instead, I when to the local parts store and for $35 and 40 mins of my Saturday afternoon, I replaced them myself. it corrected the issue and more. My daughter neglected to tell me the car vibrated at 60 mph. That also no longer happens. I feel there was one of two things going on here: 1. Midas is the retail of auto repair and the local shops are pressured to up sell. Struts are an easy sell. Inexpensive (to Midas), average car owner can't replace and its a hidden part that cannot be easily verified. 2. The mechanics are not trained... they thought it was the links, but might be the struts. Just add it all and with the profit they could even fix something else and still profit. I am going with #1. Maybe this place need one of those investigative reports. ;-) I will be wary of returning for an inspection sticker for sure. read more

No thanks, I went elsewhere. Why the hell would you have me sign up for this time 3:30-5:30 PM thinking my car is going to get serviced? The dink of a worker said he called and left me a voicemail... straight up lair. Hate this place and it was my first experience. We went to Midas to have rear rotors and pads put on and a state inspection for my son's car. They informed us that his car needed a ball joint & valve gasket work in order to pass inspection. We gave them the go ahead. Keep in mind that this is a 2004 vehicle. Long story short- the manifold needed to be removed twice due to the engine not running correctly - (not their doing) - this is a 3 hr job - they didn't charge us an additional penny AND the mechanic worked on SUNDAY to take care of it! Amazing! The new management team of Cody & Cowboy is top notch. They were ethical, professional & empathetic regarding our time constraints to get our son back to college safely and on time. I sent this review in once, and they pulled it down, but the public should know. I have had service done by Midas at this shop before, and they actually did a fair job, but provided me with failed parts, and I had to come back to have a front Shock on my Acura MDX replaced within 1500 miles of the service. They were accommodating, but not cheap, and they got me in pretty fast each time. The distaste I have is on the policy they train their technicians on. I called a few days ago to get an estimate on a brake job, and they deferred to have me come in first to inspect the vehicle. I know when I need brakes, done a bunch of the jobs myself, and understand the variables that might be found once the assembly is uninstalled and inspected. That said, they refused to estimate the cost of a brake and rotor job under the pretense they want to inspect the vehicle. 1) this is not necessary to give a client a pricing guideline based on assumptions given, 2) this builds further distrust in an already distrustful field of car repair where the mechanic states additional items are in need of repair or unsafe to travel, when the job is merely to replace the brakes, not fix other items, 3) the elimination of price estimates over the phone sets Midas apart from any other competitor on the street willing to give an estimate with certain assumptions in mind. I say due to this practice, you should take your business to Pepboys, Advanced Auto, or VIP or Meineke: all reputable places that don't feed on those that don't work on their own cars and take advantage of vulnerable folks that don't know any better. Get a price estimate with assumptions, before you go. read more

Stopped by the other day to get an estimate for muffler replacement on my truck. The estimate took a little time but they had just switched over computer systems. The estimate was reasonable. The tech (Eric) was very nice. They did try to tag on a "fuel system cleaning" service for an obscene amount of money. Save your money and dump a bottle of Techron fuel cleaner into your tank. Check their website for coupons. I got $30 off. The work was done as described and looks great. read more

Unfreakin believable! I am an aircraft mechanic who takes care of his vehicles to beyond obsession. I recently brought my car in for an inspection (the one thing I can't do at home) I drove this summer only vehicle back home after easily passing. The mechanic actually said this car is pristine and needs nothing (2001) Anyway yesterday was a beautiful day for a top-down cruise. I left the house and heard a thump-thump-thump that seemed to dissipate when slowing or braking. As it turns out the mechanic who says my car needs nothing needs something. TRAINING! he left the passenger side rear wheel lugs finger tight. It's fortunate I did not drive highway speeds or you wouldn't be reading this. MIdas offered new lug nuts when I called! How about the $ back since the safety inspection left my car far less safe than when they got it! read more

Came in here for an inspection, and I was told that I needed new back brakes for $400. I wanted a second opinion before jumping in and getting my brakes done here, and I am glad that I did. I went to a reputable local tire/brake shop and they let me know that it is actually my front brakes that need replacing and not even my back brakes at all! They also were half the price of Midas. My landlady always takes her SUV to this place to get the low-priced oil change. Every time she comes back with a long list of expensive repairs that Midas says the vehicle needs. She has me check the vehicle afterwards and most of the time the repairs are not necessary. The last time it came back they said it needed a power steering rack because the rack was leaking. The estimate was for $826. The rack was not leaking. The fluid level in the reservoir was fine and it wasn't going down. There was wetness on the rack, but that was being caused by gear oil leaking from the front differential, which was being thrown onto the rack by the CV shafts going around and around. Both end seals and the pinion seal on the differential were leaking. In a case like this the first thing you check is the vent line on the differential. Sure enough the vent line had gotten pinched. I fixed that and refilled the differential. That stopped all the leaks. They also said it needed front brakes. That sounded odd because I had recently replaced the front brakes. I checked the new brakes that I had just recently installed and they were still new. So it didn't need brakes either. This place is either incompetent at best or dishonest at worst. They obviously use the low-ball oil change to lure people in so they can sell repairs. It seems like if they see someone like my landlady come in they think they can sell her a bunch of expensive repairs she doesn't need. Doing that is dishonest and it constitutes theft. Ironically if they had changed the perfectly good steering rack for $826 it wouldn't have resolved the problem with the differential leak. They didn't even have the problem properly isolated to the correct system. read more
