I have owned my 1991 S-10 Blazer for 29 years, and I have always taken it to Midas for mufflers and shocks under their generous lifetime warranty. I needed a new muffler so I made an appointment at the Olympia WA location for the following week. When I arrived there, they knew nothing of my appointment, and even though no other customers were present, it took an hour and a half for them to get around to my vehicle. During this time I noticed that the employees seemed to trickle in on no particular schedule, which probably explains why they took so long to get to my vehicle. The following week, I started noting a strange vibration noise in my vehicle which I traced to a loose exhaust pipe hanger near the muffler. I re-hung it using an extra muffler clamp, which should have been done in the first place, and then realized that the tailpipe was touching the body because the welder failed to rotate it out of contact with the body before he re-welded it. This is what had caused the vibration. On top of all of this, I discover that my Midas "Lifetime Warranty" was not a lifetime warranty anymore and had to fork over $300. Since I live an hour and a half away, I declined to spend a half day to have these people try to correct their mistakes and fixed them myself. This is not the Midas service that I remember, I used to take my vehicles there so I could forget about the problem. Sad. read more

When I had a minor problem with my car, burnt out headlights, I was able to get it fixed quickly while they at the same time showed me how to do it myself in the future. Overall a quality experience, I would definitely visit them again. read more

A group of nice guys here - managers are knowledgable and do a good job of mentoring the younger bunch that work under them (I people watch and it was fun watching their dynamics). I feel like I can trust their judgment and while I am one of those sound-effect communicators with a mechanic, I don't feel the need to haul in my dad so that I don't get ripped off. There was one instance where someone put it in the wrong size tube, but when I brought it back, they took care of it without putting me under the interrogation lights. No one is perfect so how you address your mistakes means far more to me than many things - especially with costly items. read more

These guys do a great job on my car. I see everyone complaining that they give you a estimate. No duh, that's part of their whole deal. The do the oil change and find what's wrong with your car and offer to fix it and tell you the price they can fix it for. You don't have to buy what they recommend they are just telling g you whats wrong with your car. One lady was in here with me and they showed her metal cord coming out and she refuses. So you can risk my daughter's life because you wanna drive a unsafe car. Wish it was legal for them to impound unsafe cars and most the customers rude as heck when they just doing there job. Sean was super kind to me and explained the bill and broke it down line by line. I was there when the one customer blew me came in. Her husband was super rude, told the staff to "shut the f**k up you fat f**k" when The manager was trying to explain that he took other parts off to price match her shop and thatsbwhy the bill went down. that's when he was told to leave and he said or what so he was informed the cops would be called. I like how people always try and play the victim and leave out the parts where they screamed at the staff and cussed them out, but oh he was mean and told us to leave. These guys do a good job to my truck, always have. And I'm a real customer and can provide pics of my reciept. read more

On 5/1/2014 I took my Subaru WRX into the west olympia WA Midas location for an oil change. As an after thought I mentioned some minor issue I was having with my car. When I dropped off my car in the morning the manager didn't notice me walk in and was talking to one of his parts guys. He was bragging about how since he had started managing the location that profits were up 25%. I also heard that one or more of his mechanics couldn't drive a manual well at all. I wanted to see how long it would take him to notice me sitting in the lobby. Approximately 10 minutes later when he noticed that I was there he looked very surprised. I had already known that at some point I was going to need to replace my clutch. The clutch slipping was very un noticeable and only happened if I literally put my foot to the floor. I got a phone call suggesting that I replace the clutch. They said they noticed slipping while driving it when testing for a minor issue I reported earlier. Knowing how functional the clutch was still I said I would decline for the moment. After driving my car off their parking lot it was all I could do to get my car to move 100 yards. The clutch was totally burned out. I walked back into the shop to speak with the manager. I stated that the car was not driveable and asked how I could park my car in their parking lot with 95% perceived function on my clutch and have 5-10% function driving out. The manager could not give me any meaningful explanation. It was not a professional experience... some of his words: "You brought a car with a worn out clutch in here. Did you expect it to get better?" I replied by saying of course I didn't expect it to get better but repeated my question about how my car could go from near perfect function to not driveable while in their care. The manager deflected all of my concerns and refused to acknowledge any possibility of wrong doing. Had he explained to me why I was wrong and educated me, I wouldn't be nearly as upset. After talking to him for awhile I convinced him to drive my car a little to see exactly how bad it was. While he was gone two of the mechanics came into the lobby. One of them asked if I wanted to race him (being that I drive a fairly fast car). The other mechanic said "He would destroy you. You can't drive a stick at all". I'm not necessarily accusing anyone of foul play, but I'm suspicious. I'm wondering if when they took the car out for a test run, they burned it out. Just to be clear... I was not upset about having to have the clutch replaced. I knew that was coming at some point. I was upset about the communication and attitude of those involved. EDIT: I should mention that Chuck and team were an absolute pleasure to work with when he managed things and I have absolutely zero complains about them. I'll bump this up to a 2 stars because I spoke with the owner and he was incredibly professional and offered to make the situation right for me. read more

I came here to get an overall check-up on my car so it could be reviewed so I could drive it for Uber. Well they told me there was an issue with the wheels that was not essential to fix right now but necessary to become an Uber driver. Well they gave an estimate that was too far out of my budget. Since it was not an absolute needed to be done situation I declined and stated "Well we just had to have surgery on my dog last week and get a tumor removed so this isn't really something in my budget right now." And the employee responded by stating, "Well a bullet is only $.45 cents." WRONG, just WRONG!!! Who says that?! Not okay and completely out of line. I really just wanted to write this post to show people the type of treatment I received once declining services there. My pets are like family and that comment was truly inappropriate. Update: a couple days after posting my review, I was contacted by the franchise owner of Midas. He apologized for the service I received and spoke on how that is not acceptable. What was said cannot be taken back, however, their response is appreciated knowing they acknowledged the situation. read more

I had a bad thermostat and they replaced it, flushed radiator and changed out hoses. When I took my car home it was having the same issue with not coming to temp and check engine light off and on. I have taken it back several times and they haven't made it right. I am trying to get my car fixed and they are acting like because my specific thermostat is a pain, they don't really want to have to change it out again. I even left it there for 3 days at one point, they didn't even look at it till the 3rd day. I picked my car up without a diagnosis, again. It is a pain for me to keep bringing my car back. Now the heater isn't working properly.... This has been going on for months. I am trying to get this issue resolved (since I could possibly get the thermostat replaced under warranty) I'm finding a new mechanic and won't take my car here ever again!! read more

Great integrity, service, and prices. Absolutely no sketchy up-sells that I've encountered yet. I know cars and am just too lazy to change my own oil so I always come to them (actually cheaper here than doing it myself!) Everything that they mention potentially needing repair/replacement has always been legitimate. I'm unaware of their more in depth diagnostic abilities, but from my view it's a great place for people who may have little knowledge of their vehicle and do not want to be concerned about being taken advantage of due to that. read more

Worst customer service I have ever had.. I took my car into the shop because it was over heating. They told me it was fine and then a month later it was over heating again so I brought it back in a now everything was wrong with it. I paid to get it fixed but the employee charged my card wrong. They repeatedly called my phone and also showed up at my house demanding I correct the payment! They were extremely unfriendly and rude to me. I will never go back there again. read more
