Color of my oil after Midas oil change

Update: I had my car towed to another service station on 7/15. They checked my oil and for oil that's 3-days old it came out sludge black. (See video). There were metal shavings in the oil filter. Car is inoperable and will take $$$$$$ to fix. Not saying there is a direct correlation from Midas oil change (or lack of) to my car engine blowing but it is an odd coincidence. ---------- [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went in for an Oil change and AC diagnostic and recharge on 7/12. They were friendly and responsive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They explained all the issues with the AC and recommended a recharge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was expensive but paid for it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They didn't mention anything about the oil change or the charges for the service. So I asked several times and they assured me it was done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But Sunday 7/13 after driving my check engine light came on. Not sure why. Went to check the engine and decided to check the oil. The dipstick was covered with dirty oil. Checked a couple more times and still dirty. Not sure if they just over looked it cause they were understaffed. But now not able to drive my car. Not a happy camper.

very very horrible and very backwards and can't do the bear basics of what you should be doing to be a mechanic one of my roommates paid $880 and they put us in a position where we got stranded f you guys at Midas you guys owe us a car

    car oil cap 5w-20

Why not a "no star" option? Bait & switch - I went to this place before to change my oil, used 5w-30 for my Camry 2007 LE 4 cylinder. When I went again last week, using the HEB coupon $18.00, the staff and manager would not change oil using 5w-30, only full synthetic oil because it was a "high-mileage" car - which is wasn't, just cleared 98k miles. The car oil cap clearly says 5w-20 or 0w-20 so full synthetic is optional. See attached pic. Typical bait & switch - get me in using a coupon then force me to upgrade to full synthetic. Very likely all locations operate under such smoke & mirrors. How you do anything is how you do everything. You are clowns - and liars, deceiver, thieves.

I'm new to the San Antonio area, so I just called around and I spoke with Daniel, who was so nice and helpful.

The WORST service I have ever experienced at a Valvoline…read more First and foremost I will give credit where credit is due. Even though Valvoline does not offer engine diagnostics, the lead crew member did take the time to speak with us about a minor concern we had questions about and gave us recommendations on where we could go for a diagnostic and mentioned a few things that could be causing said concern. He alone is the reason this location is not getting one star. As for the other two crew members, they were horrible. The first guy kept making derogatory and racist jokes and would not stop talking to us to start the oil change even though we were clearly trying to put an end to the one sided conversation he thought was okay. Halfway through the actual oil change, he deferred finishing it to the other crew member. She refused to finish the last step of the oil change in order to create a longer line of cars behind us and discourage more people from pulling in; this is not just me speculating or making assumptions, we heard them say this themselves. My guys, if you're going to intentionally hold up business, at least try to not make it so obvious by walking aimless circles around our car or being on your phone directly in front of us for a literal five minutes straight before closing up our hood with no further adjustments. Instead of the fifteen minute oil change Valvoline used to pride itself on, this one ended at over thirty minutes purely because of staff laziness. I've never had an issue with a Valvoline before, but if this location insists on hiring such disrespectful and unprofessional crew members, I will not return here. Go support another location or business. Your time and money are not worth it here. They made that abundantly clear.

I had been a customer and different Brake Checks locations for years, complained online and Brake Check recommended to go to this one and talk to " J", They performed an accurate one but after a month or two It would start making popping noises and wandering all over the road, on puddles it would be scary. I would bring it back and on the alignment rack it clearly showed that it was off the specs, they would realign and again after a couple of months it started again. The fourth time I mentioned that I noticed they didn't torque the bolts down, I mentioned it to them and they stated they could guesstimate the torque. The fifth time I was a little upset because I knew it was damaging my suspension components. I researched through a Certified GM Helm factory Manual and found that one was suppose to be torqued to 127Lbs and another bolt to 107lbs torque which I could see that it wasn't happening because they were barely putting tool pressure to around 60lbs torque. J asked where I got my info and I presented him with a printout on the spec of alignment and torque specs, he took a picture of my spec and went to his computer and verified that they were correct. This manager "J" took my vehicle down a side street and was driving it fast and brought it back to the bay five times to readjust the alignment I was impressed. He then told the working Alignment tech to tighten the right side bolt to 125lbs torque, but only that one, I frowned at that, but I was done with them, I went home avoiding pothole in these San Antonio streets and am doing the torque down spec with my own torque wrench. So much for service! I was looking to "update" my observation and this is when I found that my prior post wasn't found by me as I was updating, I had found out after "J" repeatedly road tested an hour later that my tilt steering wasn't working which I know that "J" broke it, so now I have an inoperative tilt steering on my Caddy. And another gaslight that "J" told me is that these cars have self adjusting Steering Centers which they don't, that are suppose to be done with a Tech 2 with Candi interface to recognize the reference of the aligned centered steering wheel. I have to say with a heavy heart that "J" is not only a gaslighter but a bald face liar. Beware and be out there to check on torque work and for them not to break anything else since that the way they pad their bottom line profit margin.
