Wow so everybody hates Midas? I came to get my tire fixed and they were very accommodating. My car needed to be towed there and they arranged a tow truck to bring my car which was very helpful because I was stressed to begin with. They even quoted me a much lower price for the tow than what I was getting everywhere else I called. They told me I'd have to wait maybe an hour and a half but it ended up being just an hour. Inside my envelope from when I came in the summer to get my car checked they put a coupon inside that knocked off 30 dollars from my total. I was in, I was out. No hassle. read more

I needed my brakes done and Firestone wanted $500+..I was going to go to Just Brakes because they'll check it out for free and give me a quote.. however they said to actually get the work done is a 4-5 hour job. What? So I happened to drive by Midas and they had a special on oil changes for $20 which I needed..so why not.. they're known for their brakes right? So the brake check was $20 but if I get the work done, they take it off the price..They were $100 less than Firestone but regardless I only had the front brakes done because they said I still had time on the back ones. They didnt try to push me on anything additional and I was in and out in an hour and a half. I was pleased. I might go back to get my brakes there if Sears doesn't beat their price. read more

Waste of money and time! Not the type to write yelp reviews but this was so disappointing and frustrating. I brought in my car because the check engine light kept turning on. Told me it would cost $2,400 to fix the transmission and so I pay and when I start driving the light turns back on so I take it back like 2 times and they keep saying they "fixed" it yet the light kept coming on. Another day I took it in again and they said it probably needed a software update from third party, so I pay. The light kept turning on. After paying almost $3,000 the light kept coming on and I kept taking it because I didn't pay that much so they wouldn't fix it! Yet the manager Daniel said it was possibly another issue that would cost me $1000 to fix. I wasn't going to waste that much money because I already wasted so much and they didn't fix nothing. They're reasoning for replacing the torque converter assembly was to "eliminate that being the possibility." Like what the heck ???! Aren't you professionals??? They don't know what they're doing. I took my car total of 6 times because they obviously had no clue what they were doing. I ended up taking my car to a dealership of its brand and they fixed it there and cheaper!!!! I took it to Midas in the first place so they would get the job done faster, but that was the worst mistake I could have made. I would leave my car the entire day and they wouldn't fix anything. Waste of my time and money! Avoid going here and save yourself a lot of money! Definitely go somewhere else for big repairs, and even oil change. Horrrrrrrible service! Bought the groupon for $18 and then was told when I arrived that they needed to use a different type of oil on my car that was $37 more. Okay fine that would have been fine... but THEN the manager, Daniel would refuse to do a tire rotation which is literally included in the regular oil change (that I'm paying for now because I'm paying the $37 difference on top of the groupon). I was heading to our trustworthy RPM services mechanic shop at the South Side since the car started shacking and not running properly. I felt like the car wouldn't make it so I had to stop at Midas to get an oil change since that's why we were heading to RPM anyways. Rick tells me. " the car is not turning on, we have to do a diagnostic." I said "well, would it tell y'all what's wrong?" Rick-"yea yea, that way we know what we have to do to make it run" The entire time I was hesitant because I didn't count with the money and because we stopped coming to this location almost 3 years ago because it was nothing but problems! So Rick tells me they have a finance option. I say Screw it! I'll do it. I'm desperate and it's going to be fixed. Rick was nice enough to give me a $20 dollar discount and THAT I do appreciate. I wait in the lobby from 12:15pm-4:30pm. Finally take off with the car. Exhausted from waiting and crying the entire time for getting into debt 500, I was finally relieved that I get to go home and eat something. THE UNTHINKABLE happens not even 5 minutes down the road.............my car shuts down and struggling to turn back on. It finally turned on and shuts off again in the middle of the road! I'm the stupid one since I knew better and knew this shit would happen. I call rick and he sends 2 gentleman who are more than nice. Daniel took the car back to the shop and took me in his car and husband rode with the other mechanic. It kept shutting down all the way to the shop. Finally it died and husband and a nice Samaritan helped him push the car til a truck pulled the car. We wait over an hour to see what the heck is wrong with the car. We get no update still. I decided to ask rick for an update. And says. It's going to be 658 bucks for them to fix the issue. I'm here like. Wtf! The diagnostics should've read the issue. Why give me a tune up when it wasn't the reason for the car to be messing up. He kept interrupting me. I am a difficult customer but definitely don't want things to be done half a****. He kept saying "excuse me, is not my fault". He said we desperately needed the spark plugs but still.. the car wasn't running. I swear I was going nuts thinking "they just got my money and I'm stuck with this." After so much arguing and Rick interrupting me, and telling me that they were going to charge me the $600 plus to fully fix it I decided to call Daniel. Because we didn't want to pay more if we already paid $510 and it still didn't work. Daniel, hands down for being patient! I was soooooooo angry and sad with the entire situation. They guy total professional and not a flinch of frustration. Ty Daniel. Back to our conversation with Daniel. He tells me they haven't done the changes but it will cost extra. Rick should be fired and so is the receptionist. Not only Rick is unprofessional, he doesn't know how to listen and/or give information. The receptionist only kept eating and eating his bill millers Nd every time I called him, he kept getting annoyed. They don't make me feel safe or have trust in them. Daniel on the other side is great! . I'm also grateful for Rick giving m a $20 discount. But get it together. What good is the diagnostics if you're not fixing what really is causing the issue!!!!!!!!!spent my entire day off here. Avoid if possible. Go to Rpm services on Commercial south side. I'd give zero stars if I could. The original service was done for my vehicle and while I am thankful for that what I don't appreciate is midas taking out double the payment from my account and saying that happens often and they'd only take one payment. That it would just be returned in a few days because and I quote "it's just money." We'll BOTH payments got taken and $852 was removed my account leaving me in the negatives. Both times I've called no one answers me call, I'm placed on hold and eventually just get the call disconnected. Now not only am I dealing with the bank trying to get my money back midas corporate refuses to take my calls about this issue. The quote I got for all my supposed "issues" for my car were atrocious. $3,000 for a bunch of things that were "wrong" when I just went in for a brake replacement. Being told I'd have an accident and potentially kill myself was unnecessary. I took my vehicle to another shop and asked for a second opinion. NONE of the issues midas claimed on the invoice that were wrong with my car were actually true. I had ZERO issues with my vehicle. Midas tried taking advantage of me and up-charge me because I'm a female. It's 2020, there is absolutely no need to treat women this way. There is no need to be shady and up charge for no apparent reason other than racism towards someone of the opposite sex. Stereotyping a gender and making wild claims on their vehicle just to take advantage is shameful, inhuman and downright pathetic. AMAZINGGGG Customer Service. I went in for an oil change right before Christmas. They were slammed busy and I got stuck waiting for over an hour, understandably so. Once my car was complete the guy called me up and told me that my car was ready and that the service was covered for the day because I had waited so long. They definitely didnt need to give me the service for FREE because they were uncontrollably busy however they went above and beyond to provide that excellent service. Went in for an oil change because their price was cheaper than buying the oil/filter and doing it myself. During their courtesy inspection, they told me I needed an inner tie rod replaced. After getting home and getting my car on jackstands, all i had was a loose nut, so after tightening that my car drove just like it did before i went into midas. Also, they put the completely wrong date and mileage on my oil change reminder sticker. I've never seen anyone get that wrong before, so i just replaced it with a fill-in your own sticker from O'Reilly's. My conclusion is they either misdiagnosed a loose nut as a failed tie rod end, or they loosened the nut themselves and then lied to me about it. Either way, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone under any circumstance. read more

I went in for a oil change during the first part of May at about 1:30pm. They later did the sales pitch about what was wrong with my car, I felt everything was too expensive but I settled on them fixing the leaking shaft valve. I say valve singular, this was after they claimed that I had 2 leaking and when I asked for them to raise the car up so I could see for myself, there was only one leaking. This was my first sign that I should have quit right there and then but dumb me did not. At 5pm, I asked where was my car? Daniel Argenal, the manager, stated that they ordered a couple of parts but they were the wrong ones and that they had to wait 2 days for the right one. Meanwhile they had taken off the seal, which was broken off even more and they could not put it back on.....SO I had to WAIT 2 days to get my car back from just going in for a oil change! The district manager, Marc Lascano, asked me, when I called him to complain, what did I want him to do about it? Further stated several times through the next couple of days that my car was sitting in there costing them money! So I went back 2 days later, after I called and told them I was coming, and Daniel said I should have waited for them to call. Anyway through my getting on them to call about my part, the part did not come in till around 4:30pm. What did they do to try to make a disgruntled FIRST time customer happy?.......NOTHING!......claimed I had gotten a $20 discount off a $200+ bill, which was not true because it was only $10 less than the original quote. I would just like to mention that service desk guy, Marcus Madrigal was quite helpful and the other manager Matt Keffover was more helpful than Daniel. Finally I checked the oil and fluids, they did not even top off the fluids! This was my first and last visit! Do not waste your time and money, I should have stuck with Walmart! read more

I took my car in for an oil check and when finished they told me that my tires needed to be replaced immediately because the tread was 2/32. They pushed their tire promotion in my face but I decided to get a second opinion before making a decision. Took my car to discount tire, found out my tires were actually 6/32 and are totally fine. This has been the worst experience. So starting back end of March, took my car in to get worked on since front (what my fiancee and I thought thought were my brakes) squeaking. They look at it and say the brakes are fine and that its a different issue. So $1000+ later, think my car is fine. So took it in to get inspected 2 weeks later for my tags. All the sudden my brakes are "metal on metal". Wtf! So back at midas now. 2 hours just to look at the car and figure out the brakes situation (seriosly?)....another 2 hours to fix it. Yay, thats great, cause no one needs to go to work or anything. But their giving a "discount" on labor. Should have been done right the first time so not wasting a day, being late for work, and I'm starting to think that $1000 issue wasnt an actual issue...that it was in fact my brakes like had went there for to begin with! I went just the Other day and they test drove my car without even me being aware about it until I asked where my car was the guy said he's still out test driving it "til he feels the problem". 40 min later the man was asking me questions on how my car was driving (I went in because my brake light went on) and I asked him well didn't you feel it you were driving it for over 30 min? He surprisingly didn't feel it! As soon as I got home (cause I dropped it off after it was taking too long) called me back w an estimate of $908 I said no I won't do it I'll go get my car. CAUTION! This shop took in my truck for an alignment. They then told me I needed an entire rack and pinion and the bill was $1400.00. They had already took steps to secure me financing and tried to pressure me to have it done. THEY BILLED MY CREDIT CARD FOR THE ALIGNMENT- the manager told me it was a mistake but I have attempted numerous times to get it credited with NO SUCCESS. this is a terrible place to take your car. they replaced my serpentine belt and didn't reassemble anything in my car along with unplugging my coolant tank and other things, when I returned to see what was causing my car to over heat, they quoted me $600 to replace the coolant tank, thermostat, and water heater. after towing my car to another local mechanic, I paid $300 including the towing to have my car repaired. repairs necessary were a new thermostat and headlight installation. read more

Went there at lunch time figuring I may be able to get in and out. I read the review on here about finding everything and I thought twice....but did it anyways. I told the manager I had 50 minutes left on my lunch break and I need and oil change and could he get me in and out in that time...answer "yes." They get my truck in the bay and put it in the air and begin walking around under it with a flasjlight...then that guy steps out from under the truck and starts shooting the breeze with some other guy and smoking a cigarette. After an extended conversation and several guys doing nothing they .then lowered it and got the suggestted tire pressure off of the door and then back up in the air the truck goes. Now 25 minutes has gone by and NOTHING has been done on the oil change but my vehicle is the only one in the shop...and still lots of guys doing nothing but smoking. I the manager I am getting stressed and told him all that I have written here and said "I have got to be back at work soon" ...he went into the bay and told them to get the oil changed and just the oil changed. At that point they finally started doing things to get it done. The manager came out and said three seals are blown and one if leaking.....I just looked away from the guy and I think he got the idea that I didn't want to hear it...I read the previous review before I went there and expected at least something to be wrong..........so he walked away and said "well, I'll have to write it on your sheet" They got me out in time to get back to work.....but I won't go back there.....having several guys walking around doing nothing but smoking when I need to get out of there was not a good first impression for me.....you be the judge. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. For starters, we left our car right before Christmas.. we were told that the part we needed would take "3 to 5 business days give or take a few days due to the holidays"... in that time they had my car for a month.. no sign of the part. My husband and I had to continuously call to get updates on the parts delivery, we were told "it'll be in Friday" "it'll be in Saturday" "it'll be in NEXT Saturday" and finally "it'll take 12 days for the part to come in". In that time, NO ONE made contact with us to let us know the status of my vehicle or part. My husband and I decided to just pick up my car and get a refund for everything we prepaid.. that's when we were told they couldn't cancel the order for the part that clearly hadn't even been shipped yet.. so we decided to get refunded for the labor and take it somewhere more competent and customer service savvy once my part came in. My husband was told the refund would have to be in check form which is ridiculous! The manager, Matt, called to speak to me about my problems and tried to make things right telling me he himself would check the status of my part and asked if he could give me a call the next day to update me, which for a moment diffused the situation.. but Matt never called me back.. or my husband. My part came in and no one made us aware.. my husband found out the day AFTER it came in ONLY because he called to check. As for the check for our refund.. we've been waiting 2 and a half weeks for it... we were told "it should be ready" by tomorrow... not holding my breath but I will be taking this complaint to the BBB and make everyone else aware of this location... read more

This will likely turn into a novel. I do not recommend this location. Go somewhere else. With so many options of where to take your vehicle, do not take it here. I brought a used car in Feb 2016. Check engine light came on shortly after buying the veh but it was currently driving with no problems. Waited about two weeks before I took it in, and ZERO driving problems whole time. I took it into this Midas and they advised had a bad catalytic converter. They quoted a replacement at over $1,000; I said cannot do this and they said a universal fit converter would be $650. I still said no as money was tight and wanted to plan it out. Starting as soon as I left before I got home, I started experiencing very sporadic random issues at different times. Lose engine power, power steering, speedometer stop working, lights stop working, some other random electrical problems. All of these problems started as soon as I left Midas that day. I lived with those issues for a week or two as they only happened sporadically. I took to a different repair shop and they agreed I needed a new catalytic converter but also a new computer for the engine. So at this point I replaced the computer and put off the catalytic converter. Fast forward a few months, and no other new problems, the car is running fine check engine light is on still from the converter. Starting Friday, the temperature is slightly going up so I take the car elsewhere for a normal oil change on Saturday and fluid top up. All the fluids were at an acceptable range. That Sat the car actually started overheating hitting the red temp gauge. I figured it was the converter finally dead and needed replacing. I take the veh into Midas on Monday 6/20. They said the cause of the overheating was a bad water pump, they showed me it leaking (A LOT of leakage). When asked why the fluids were fine on Saturday and not low they did not have an answer for me. I agreed to the water pump, finally fix the converter (which was now a lot cheaper for the universal fit, so do they charge whatever they want? It was around 450). Had some odds and ends to replace a belt here a thermostat there related to the water pump and converter. I wanted them to look at my right taillight assembly as the brake light and turning signal was not working and also buy a new tire from a nail they couldn't fix. I mentioned the light many many times. They did fix the turn sign but not the brake light, its still not working after they said it was done( I was done with them mentally so I'll have someone else fix that). Left it there Monday and they said expect it done around 1ish on Tuesday. Started calling around then and I didn't get the car back till 15 mins before they close at 6. They did not fix the brake light and left my trunk messy with the tire change equipment. I drove two mins down the road and it's almost in the red still overheating. Drove to get my wife a few mins away and it did overheat and stranded my wife, my 7 year old, and I at a Wal-Mart for hours. After it cooled down we drove home and just made it before it overheated again. I dropped the veh off the next day as soon as they opened at 730. They now say I had a clogged radiator and it had to be replaced and couldn't be flushed. I didn't get the veh back till around 530 on Wednesday. It's now Friday and driving decent but with a slight lose belt sounding noise. Their front desk employee named Chris was very rude to us and other customers while on the phone. They left nasty oily rags in my car. They left my trunk is disarray. I'm really curious if the water pump was even bad since it didn't appear to be leaking until they showed me the massive leak (litterly water POURING out of the engine). I'm really curious since back in Feb the problems related to the computer didn't show up until after I left and it started that very same day. Their prices for a catalytic converter changed 3 times over 1000, 600, 450. Do they just make up whatever the want? UPDATE A few weeks after getting these repairs done I took the vehicle on the highway for the first time, and it overheated. The themostat did not regester it as overheating but the coolent overflowing the overflow tank and pooling underneath my car did. So Im worried and confused as to why it overheated then and didnt resigter on the thermostat till I took it on the hwy. Has been almost overheating driving on the normal roads? I will be taking it back to Midas tomorrow as I was able to take a day off work. Ill update this post after that. read more

I went here yesterday because I saw the big sign outside for a 19.99 dollar oil change. After the guy at the register got my car information he told me it was going to cost around 30 dollars. I told him about the sign outside and he said that was for conventional oil and my car needed synthetic but for me he will take off 5 dollars. I said fine and then he told me he'll have me out in 45 minutes. An hour went by and I was still waiting, so I asked how much longer it would be and the guy just told me that whenever the guys working on it bring back the clipboard he'll have me out the door. 10 minutes later they called me inside to talk about my car. He told me that he couldn't do an oil change because the drain plug needed to be replaced which was going to cost 12.99 and then he told me that my serpentine belts were terribly cracked and needed replacement immediately bringing my total to 300 dollars. I told him I didn't have that much money at the time so he suggested I do a payment plan but they would only take checks. I didn't have time or money for all this right now because I had to get to work, so I told them to just do the oil change and I'll worry about the belts the following day. I went back inside the waiting room to wait, and I noticed the "5 dollar discount" was being given to everyone - but they really make it sound like they are doing it for just you. I also noticed that everyone there was called in for suggestions on what other services their car needed. Now, an hour and a half went by and I asked the guy how much longer again and he said the same thing "whenever they bring back the clipboard I will have you out the door" so I said can you not just go ask and find out because I had been there for an hour and a half now. He finally went to ask and he came back and told me that they went to the auto shop to get the drain plug but they brought the wrong one so they had to get another one. I think that was a complete BS story. I told him he should have at least informed me on what was going on, so I would be able to at least let work know I would be late. To that he told me I should have came earlier in the day......WTF?!? I'm not sure why an auto shop was not able to find the right drain plug - this is their job, they should know what they are doing. When I looked into the garage most of the workers were just standing around and no one was working on my car. I would never ever go back to this place again, they have terrible service and definitely give you a laundry list of things to do to your car that you don't need done. I went to get a second opinion on my serpentine belts and I was told that there was nothing wrong with them. I also noticed on my paper that they gave me when I left Midas that I needed to replace my left front tire (I just replaced all 4 tires a year ago). When I got my oil change just a couple months ago somewhere else, I wasn't told about any additional work that needed work and if the belts were in that bad of shape I would think that it would have been spotted last time.
