OOOH IF I COULD GIVE A 0 I WOULD. I've been here twice because of their $19 oil change Groupon and I honestly wished both times I would have just gone somewhere else. The first time I came was to change the oil in my car. The person at the desk was condescending when I was talking to them about my car specs, as if I didn't know anything about cars. The oil change was quick but they had left a bad taste in my mouth and I knew I probably wasn't going to come back. But then my girlfriend's needed an oil change and we are strapped for cash right now, so I mentioned the Groupon and she bought it. She made a appointment request through their website that is linked on the Groupon and it had said someone would call her within 30 business minutes and I waited because I wanted the appointment for the next day. I never got a call. So I called the next day, inquiring about why I didn't get a call when the website said I would get one within 30 minutes and that I requested an appointment for 11am. She told me that she went through all of her online requests and she booked them all, as if I was just making this up. Then she found my request and said I had "made it during [her] lunch and the other guy who works here is really bad at doing these." I asked if I could come in that day and she said they were booked. So I asked about the next day- booked. She told me I could come in Sunday and set an appointment for 11a and they wouldn't charge me weekend rates. I was already annoyed by this interaction that I was dreading bringing my car in. Fast forward to today: SUNDAY. I bring my car in at 11a and tell the front desk that I have an appointment at 11a. He's having trouble finding it so I tell him the whole story about what happened with his colleague not booking my appointment correctly in the first place and that could be why. Instead of apologizing or offering any sort of supportive conversation regarding that terrible interaction I'd had, he tells me "you should call instead of using our online system. We don't really use that system and you should just call." UM IT DOESNT SAY TO CALL ON THE GROUPON. IT DOESNT SAY TO CALL ON THEIR APPOINTMENT REQUESTS SITE. What it does say on the Groupon is to click this link to make an appointment. What it does say on the website is to input your information to request an appointment and that I would get a call back in 30 minutes. It doesn't say TO CALL. This person was rude and condescending and I honestly couldn't believe what this dude was telling me. After more standard talk about getting the oil change, he tells me I have to wait for my car to be serviced because they didn't have any room in their garage right now. I get that sometimes things can get behind but I made an appointment, I expect to not be waiting for more than 25 minutes to have my car serviced. He didn't offer an apology on the delay or mention it when I got in. I'm usually pretty understanding when it comes to mixups and even sometimes bad attitudes but this was just too much for me. I shouldn't be talked to like a child who doesn't know what I'm doing because of their mixups and I shouldn't be subjected to such terrible customer service because of their mixups. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. I'll pay $30+ for an oil change somewhere else if it means never having to deal with this awful Midas again. read more

Great experience overall. Impeccable costumer service, I was immediately greeted and my car was seen right away. They checked out everything that my car needed and gave me a great deal due to the multiple repairs to my car. They explained each aspect of the repair in detail and recycled any parts they could to help lower the cost. Very honest and competitive prices for the services I received. Very friendly and respectable staff which is awesome because it was great way to pass the time while the car was under repair. I went there for Full synthetic oil change, tire rotation and 45 point inspection (groupon deal). Looks they did all (in the receipt, tire rotation was mentioned), but when I checked the car, realizing that they did not do tire rotation. When I told them, they apologized and kept the car for 30 minutes and did tire rotation. Why didn't they rotate the tire in the first place? How can I trust them that they really did oil change and 45 point inspection. Completely disappointed. Never recommended. read more

The Midas Group Performance was Outstanding!

Unfortunately, I read all the negative reviews while I was waiting 2+ hours for them to do a simple oil change. I declined the free tire rotation because I saw this as their way to inspect and recommend the inevitable upsell. (1) They said that they checked the tire pressure and it was normal. In reality one tire was dangerously, and obviously low on pressure. I pointed this out and they appologized profusely with a lame excuse (what other things did they "check" but not really) (2) The morning after - nearly every engine warning light I have is now on. My 4Runner has run perfectly for 8+ years, and now a day after the "Midas Touch" - I've got major problems. These guys should be a target of a local news investigation. read more

Made an appointment on a Monday for an oil change. They told me to come in at 12pm on Saturday. Due to my work schedule, my wife had to take the car with our 5 month old baby. These guys are real crooks! They gave me a estimation of $3000+ for a work that was done in other place for $450!!! I had a problem with the brakes, where the brake pedal was going all the way to the floor and I was not getting any pressure. This started happening a few days after I had done a break fluid change at a small mechanic auto shop. When I took my car back to the same mechanic, he said the master cylinder needed a replacement and he gave a quote of $450. I wanted to get a second opinion, so I took it to wheel works and they again tried changing brake fluid, but it didn't fix the problem and they asked me to take it to the dealers. Instead, I thought of getting a opinion at Midas Sunnyvale, which was a bad decision! The mechanic at this Midas shop said that I had a "bad" brake fluid in the car which has ruined the entire brake system and I need to replace every part of the brake system!!! They didn't even bothered to do any diagnosis, but charged me $20 and gave me a quote for $3000+ I went back to the small shop mechanic who replaced the cylinder for 450 and the problem got fixed. Terrible service and an outrageous estimate. Was quoted $1,400 for rotors and pads. Ordered myself from Chevrolet dealership and did the repair myself. Less than $500 for factory parts. I would give it a five but I have only had one great experience I will up that review based upon future services. I mistakingly drove to the wrong Midas after making an appointment online. I am glad I did. My entire experience was beyond what I would ever expect from any auto services. Like most people I am leery about the service industry but Midas of Sunnyvale changed my mindset. My car is getting older and is going to require additional maintenance and I will only being going back to Midas of Sunnyvale. Great service, they are very busy, so make sure to get an appointment. I needed an oil change and tire rotation before a trip to LA last weekend. I contacted them for an appointment and while they were very busy and fully booked that day, they where able to accommodate me on Thursday (I contacted them on Tuesday) at noon. When I got there Thursday, the staff were very friendly and courteous. They said my car would be ready in about an hour, so I went to one of the nearby restaurants for lunch. When I got back, the car was ready to go as advertised and the trip to LA was smooth and without incident. I will definitely be back, great service and good prices. read more

I wasn't gonna write a review about this place but after reading everybody else's I thought..hmmm, this can't be a coincidence. Not one decent review for this business...they are definitely doing something wrong. Well, I took my car to this shop on a tuesday morning appointment for a brake job. They guarranteed that i'd have my car back within 2 hours. well, after 2 hours noone called me back, so i called. They then tell me that it will be another hour. I was mad but I figured that i'll let them finish the job. After another hour, someone calls me to say "we are sorry, your car will not be ready today, can you leave it and pick it up tomorrow?" I ask why should a brake job take 24 hours?!!! They tell me that "the brakes did not come in as ordered, we thought they would arrive by latest 10 a.m but the are not here yet", this they tell me 4 hours into my appointment. Long story short, this was a dishonest business and they wasted my time and I still had bad brakes at the end of the day. luckily for me I resisted the $860 worth quote of other jobs they had recommended for my car and had wanted to start in the 2 hour window they had alloted. They need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau by all of they're unsatisfied, ripped-off former customers like me. read more

Armando is the man. He is honest, responsive, and knowledgeable. He tried to keep my costs down, and tried to save me money by resurfacing the rotors of the breaks, but alas, I had to change them. Overall, I got my brake pads and brake rotors changed out, and I got $50 off for a special going on until April 30th! so hurry in for break work! Armando demonstrated the utmost professionalism, showed me how the rotors and pads needed a change. Additionally, his background and experience helped solve additional car problems I had. Ok, I'm taking away all my stars. Wish I could give them a zero. I went for my "free oil change". There were two people in line ahead of me, and one of them was for a pick up. I was told to wait for my turn, which I did...took them 15 minutes to help me. After I tell them, I'm here for my free oil change, I'm told it will take them 1.5 hours to get to my car....there's only one car ahead of me. There are 4-5 employees there while only two are working on one car. The others are eating...and I cant believe smoking Inside the workshop! I gritted my teeth, waited thru the hour and a half and got my verdict. In their included "free inspection" they told me my struts need to be replaced for 1400 bucks, same with the serpentine belt...another 160 bucks.... What a rip off - never going here again. The total cost for service for just the front brakes $477.37. That is 528% increase in price for this part. Do not go there!!!!! They wanted $89 to change a burnt out light bulb in my tail light!!!! I'd been to this place on a Saturday morning. The service was okay and I gave my car for an oil change. I was asked to collect it at 4. I wnt back at 4 and had to wait for more than an hour. The courtesy check that they did showed my car had all possible faults including battery, belts and what not. Surprising fact is that the earlier owner of my car had got the same check done few months back and it seemed to be fine. (The person had asked if we were there for the 1st time.) I had new brake pads put on here for $90 for a 95 corolla (just the rear). The service was quick and they seem to work efficiently. The brakes feel fine. A little hard to understand them on the phone since they talk a little fast. They tried to make me pay ~$600 for extra services that they could barely explain over the phone. For $20, they changed my oil and rotated my tires while providing superb customer service! Waited about 30 minutes, which is 15 minutes less than the time they promised so I'm giving them a 4 stars for the price, knowledgable staff, and thoroughness. They also let you rent a car if needed -- at their expense and will allow you to defer payments to work around you financially. I'd go back! read more

Got my brakes done here a while back and as I left and pulled out onto El Camino I realized I had no brakes. Its a scary fucking feeling to have no brakes. Had to use the emergency. Somehow I got back and told them in a calm slightly flustered manner "hey, I just got my brakes done here and there are no brakes!!" The guy tells me there are brakes cause they tested them. I ask how is that possible, you can't stop in the car. The guy reluctantly tells me they will adjust them for my preference....you know so that when you press them they stop the fucking car. RUDEASS SERVICE. I came in yesterday asking about their 24F battery for my car. The battery itself is $84 plus $103 for installation which makes it almost $200. Then I came in today asking for the battery and the same guy I talked to the day before gave me some snobby behavior and tone of voice. He was very vague with his answers. $100 just to install a damn battery is ridiculous. You CANNOT purchase the battery itself. The whole oil change and inspection took about an hour just as expected. I am new to the Bay Area and was not looking forward to looking for a new mechanic. Coming from SoCal, I was really dissapointed and surprised when I needed my car serviced and was quoted 100$+ more than what I would have paid back home. The owners are a husband and wife who are sensitive to people's financial hardships and will do their best to accommodate you in any way possible. Being that I'm a young female, most auto shops try to take advantage and charge me an arm and leg for their services. Luckily, I know a little about cars and always ask the mechanics to show me the parts that are damaged and get second, or even third quotes, before I commit. Without even asking, the mechanics at Midas took me out to my car to show me exactly what the problem was. They broke it down for me so I had a clear understanding, and this I really appreciated. The wife even drove me back to work so they could get the job done the same day. If you want honest people with whom you can form a great relationship with, this is the place to go. My brakes were squeaking on my truck so I brought it into Midas to have them checked out. They inspected all brake pads and told me one was cracked. When I asked to look at the cracked one he showed it to me and I saw no crack. The guy then told me it takes a "trained eye" to see the crack. This did not sound correct to me so I verified with my trusted mechanic. My mechanic said the brake pads are fine and do not need to be replaced. I believe these guys were trying to sell me something I did not need and therefor they should not be trusted. Otherwise bring a fat wallet.
