This place certainly has its rough spots when it comes to getting service done. Fortunately my vehicles have usually had low miles on them when I sent them into this shop, so I haven't needed major services like brakes, struts, shocks, timing belt, and the like. The only semi-major repair that they've suggested for me was for a new battery in my RAV4. I decided against having it fixed, but about a month later my battery started giving me fits, so at least I know they were honest about that. My issues with this shop come from consistently finishing my cars after they said it would be finished. If something is going to take 3 hours, just let me know 3 hours. Don't tell me 3 hours, and then wait until I call you to let me know it'll take 4 hours. I've been to this shop 3 times, and it's always been that way. And what's more annoying, is they consistently ask that I set up an appointment and let them know what kind of work I need. You know all I need is an oil change, so slot me into a time slot where you can get that done in under an hour. It's not that hard. The other annoyance with this shop is that the management seems to change every time I'm there. Business, especially as it relates to cars, is all about building relationships and trust, and you can't that done here when the management is always different. read more

I took my 2006 Cadillac to Midas on April 23rd for 3 problems Brake noise Occasional car stalling and check engine light on I left it there and came back and talked to Vic who is the main mechanic he told me I needed front brakes and that would fix the brake noise he said I needed O2 sensors and that would fix the stalling problem and maybe fix the check engine light Vic said it could be something else causing the light to be on so he tokd me we will try one at à time I picked up the car the next day and paid $1.151.03 probably 10 days latter the brake noise came back and the car started stalling AGAIN and the following, week the engine light came back on so I took the car back in on a Thursday 2 weeks latter and told Vic what was going on he asked me if I got it smoged because he had said drive it 200 miles and get it smoged I told him I had not because I was waiting for a pay check he said he asked me how many miles have I driven since the car was worked on I mistakenly told him 800 miles Vic said tou were suppossed to take it in after 200 miles hen I checked the odometer again latter it was 400 miles I guess I was wrong in thinking after spending over à thousand dollars that the problem was fixed I didn't think it was a 200 mile fix. So Vic reset the engine light and tokd me drive 200 miles and take it in and ask the guy at thé smog place to check the monitors to see if they are ready for smog check after 200 miles of driving I drive away and after 40 MILES of driving rhe Check engine is ON AGAIN. Bottom line after spending over à thousand dollars I STILL have the same 3 problems. Espically the brake problem and stalling problem after Vic told me these repairs will fix these 2 problems. Don't take your car to this Midas for your car repairs they either lied to me or they don't know how to diagnoisis à car problem. read more

I had a headlight issue that I just couldn't seem to fix myself. I brought in a replacement bulb on a rainy Saturday morning and was able to be seen right away by Israr and Baljit. I wish I can choose negative star... NEVER buy Groupon Voucher for this store, they would ask for extra money when you try to use it. They have $19, $29, and $44 voucher for oil change on Groupon. I purchased $29 one, and bring to store. The guy in counter insist that my car need to use a better oil, and I have to pay $15 extra to do the oil change. I said I don't need the better oil, Synthetic-Blend Oil is good enough for my car. They just don't accept the Voucher at all. And during this time, a guy has already open the hood and check something inside. I said I don't want to do the oil change here. The guy didn't close the hood properly and said everything is good, and let me go. I didn't know it's not closed until I drove some miles. read more

If I can rate this place .5 of 1 star I would. I called in to make an appointment for a 12:30. Oil changes shouldn't take no more than 30 minutes as someone who does their own from time to time it takes me about 15 minutes. I get there and do all the paper work and they say they'll get to my car next. I come back and see that they took a car that came after me for service. And then I wait and they take another one after that one. So they completely forgot about mine and my appointment. They wasted over an hour of my day so I refused to give them my service at this point. I asked for my keys and I left. I didn't not even get an apology for wasting my time. I do not recommend anyone to come to this place. Very unprofessional and not apologetic when they mess up on their end. I loved the service at this Midas. It turns out the old manager was a piece of work, and the new manager is really nice. He was working really hard for another lady's car while I was there. He also told me only good news and saved me money in the long run! I certainly plan to return to this Midas. The service was great and they were speedy. Not happy with the price, never coming back to this Midas on El Camino in Sunnyvale and no more Midas for me. Ridiculous expensive and I know they are taking advantage of you. I was there today for an oil change only. I used synthetic oil and I know is more pricey than the regular oil, but this people were trying to charge me $ 92 dollars and that includes a $ 10 off dollars discount. I told the person, no thank you I can get a cheaper oil change than this. He was trying to tell me that it was because of the oil filer , I went to the auto parts , found out the oil filter is only $ 18 dollars. Never coming back here again, I don't recommend it to anyone. A while back I brought my car here for an exhaust examination, since I had some exhaust leaks, and I wanted to know what I might need to replace. Well, they examined it, and I figured out what I needed to replace. When it came time to pay, they told me not to worry about it, and they ended up examining it for free. Normally this service is $30, so I was very happy about that. Happy with the service I received, I called back the same day and asked how much it would cost to install an after-market cat-back exhaust, and I was told that it depended on how much modification needed to be done to the exhaust in order to make it fit. I was told that it would be about $120, depending if the exhaust was bolt-on or not. I thought that was a fair price, and again, I was already happy with their service. A few weeks later, I got my new exhaust, and I made an appointment. Well, they put my car on the lift, and then mock-fitted the exhaust to see if they needed to modify anything. "Hmmm, it looks like it's going to take two hours, so that's going to be $250." This is double the price I was quoted over the phone, and I knew for a fact that my system was a direct bolt-on. I mentioned that this was double the price I was quoted, but I was told that since they're installing 3-pieces (the x-pipe, and 2 axle-backs) it would take two hours. Obvious BS, but I didn't have time to deal with it, so I went ahead and OK'ed it. Now, when they were putting the exhaust on, they had to remove 2 tow hooks that were in the way of making it fit 100%, so I OK'ed to get those removed. I was told it would be "like an extra 10 bucks" and the proceeded to get charged $12.50 to remove a total 12 bolts. After I got the exhaust installed I was very happy with how it sounded and how it looked, but when I examined it when I got home, the flanges between the x-pipe and the passenger axle-back weren't squared. Needless to say I'm not very happy because a) I got charged double the price I was quoted, and b) the quality of the job they did definitely wasn't worth $125/hr. I've come here twice for basic service (oil change, tire rotation) and have had pleasant experiences both times. It's a particularly good value when you have the $20 for both services coupon that floats about on the backs of grocery store receipts or in their mailers. This last iteration, I made my appointment online and they were slower to respond than the website suggested, but I don't know how much of that is on the shop and how much is on the site itself. Took my 4Runner in because I got a coupon in the mail for an oil change deal with free tire rotation. Tires weren't rotated and still looked low when I picked it up. I talked to the worker and he said he absolutely rotated and filled the tires each to 33psi. Took it to Goodyear and had them check. Midas didn't do anything and all tires were like at 16psi. I'm going to have Goodyear check on the rest of the stuff they said they did. Calling the BBB tomorrow. Lied to my face. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Went to this place and had an unpleasant experience. We had some ignition problem and they 'tested' the car. For no reason one of the coils got replaced with an incompatible one (with a small cross on it). We tried to ask about what was going on and how they tested the car, they lied to us twice and couldn't explain what actually happened when we found it was suspicious. It felt like they wanted your money too badly and didn't care anything about your car. If you want to go home safely, in a good mood and to spend a reasonable amount of money, don't go to this place. read more

When I did the research about the car maintenance / repair providers in Sunnyvale, I was very frustrated before getting Midas Sunnyvale. Midas was the only one picking up my phone and providing the clear info and the fair quote. Other car care/repair providers either did not reply my e-mail or kept my call on hold for 10+ mins. Midas staff was very friendly and even told me where to find their coupons to save money. During the service, they provided the clear information and alternatives. The technician checked the car situation and came to talk to me in the waiting room when needed. He even showed me the parts of my car and taught me some car knowledge. He also told me which parts no need to change to save my money. I felt my money spent on the parts/service worthy. When I was kind of worried about the budget of the car maintenance, they found my car needed the maintenance and gave me a fair quote which is 1/4 of the price provided by the local dealer. And, again, Midas gave me a coupon price. So, with Midas, I got the same service in good quality but in lower price. I appreciate the attitude of the staff/technician in Midas Sunnyvale. They provide the clear info and show customers the real situation to help the customers make the decisions. Their work/service is in good quality. Midas did a good job on my car. I went to this Midas in June 2017 to get my brakes done before a road trip and got suckered into getting my shocks done, which made my wait even longer. Also I was told a screw in my tire was all tweaked so they charged me for that replacement and repair, but I think they are the ones that tweaked it! And my brakes have still squeaked since then. I have an appointment at 11.30am ISRAR the gentlemen at the counter greet me. The job was supposed done in 1 hour but I didn't get out until 3.50pm. I came to Midas in Sunnyvale to get all 4 brake pads replaced on my BMW as the car sensor suggested to replace the brake pads. Israr Refai was fantastic, very knowledgeable and assisted in presenting various options including labor only or parts and labor. That's a first you hear from a repair shop. Jose, the service technician inspected the brake pads and suggested that I don't replace the front brake pads as they were not worn and only replaced and charged for the rear brake pads. Such honesty and open communication is hard to find. They went above and beyond and I am glad visited them and will bring my car for service here the next time. Kudos on a great job. read more

Here comes my first review on Yelp.. All I needed was an oil change. I got a Groupon and naiively thought all of the negative reviews here were far from me. At the reception, the guy was actually pretty nice; he got my keys and said roughly an hour. I wandered around for two hours and checked back, only to learn that my car was parked at the same spot untouched. When questioned, there was a lot of finger pointing: it's those technicians' fault, manager said she doesn't use/know Groupon, they thought my appointment was a drop-off, etc. I wasted no time before leaving, then got a refund from Groupon. I've been going to Midas(in different cities) for my regular service and oil change needs for the past 6 years. I've generally had a very good experience but this 2 star review is only for my most recent experience at this location. After driving my car home I found that there were grease marks at various locations inside the car. What was worse is that they put the wheel lock near the radiator for whatever reason. Seriously you hung up twice and they tell me try again. You have to leave your car here all day for an oil change, why don't you Uber? frustratingly dishonest, if you can't hear a call say so.
