I've always taken my care to Midas. I understand these are franchised This one particular, I will never go to again. Had my car done for full service oils change where supposed to top off liquid and check everything. I ended up driving and couple hours later my check coolant messages comes on. I get to my destination and my coolant is dam near empty. When they sent me a report saying everything was good. Also the never reset my oil light my car is still saying I need a change. I'd call to let them know about each issue and the guy was like well he checks everything. WTH ‍ no he didn't and I will never go there again!! Ever I paid 140 I might as well took my car to the dealership for the extra 50 and got it done right with a peace of mind. read more

This business did not take responsibility for damaging my vehicle. In January 2025, I took my vehicle to this shop for an oil change and a tire rotation. When I took my car to the dealership for new brakes in October of the same year, I was charged $200 for labor. This was needed to get one of the back wheels off because the stud had been stripped. Prior to this, Midas was the last place to perform any work. When I reached out to Midas for compensation I received an immediate "no". In response to a review of this situation that I posted on Google Maps, I received a response from the shop owner saying that they take these things seriously and asking me to contact him to discuss the matter further. When I, again, reached out to the shop I was immediately shut down a second time. I was told that "the owner will not compensate you". I do not recommend taking your vehicle to this location for any type of work since they are careless and will not take responsibility for the damage they caused. read more

Ever wanted to have JUST front brake pads and paid more than expected? This happen to me today because I didn't ask to get pre-approval of costs before actual repair work. OOPS! According to Repairpal.com, the basic cost for front brake pads and installation should be around $290. Cost vary and can be higher but s/b generally close to this price for front pads and installation only. Instead however, my bill for brake pads at Midas was $591. WHY? Their cost included front rotor repairs ( BTW- this cost was not approved before the work was done nor necessary in my situation). Rotors are important but due to the age of the car and infrequent trips with it I deserved a chance to check the rotors out and decide for myself whether or not to add cost to my automobile. read more

I come here to get a full diagnostic to find out what i need to do to fix my check engine light. First the manager is super arrogant doesnt listen to anything you have to say. He was very condescending talking like he's the only person that knows about cars. So i leave my car for a few hour to let them do what they needed. I come back and he gives me a run down on all the "problems" with my car. I pay the 129 for a bs diagnostic. I get a second opinion and half the "problems" he said weren't there. One of the worst pleaces ive gone to for an alignment, ive had so much trouble here, guys scratched my brand new $3500 wheels when they where brand new, then (kind of aligned my truck) they gave me a 3 month warranty on the alignment, been trying to go back to get it re aligned manager said said rack was broken so then (chris) sends me to another location where they pretty much tell me they are not working on my truck for free, (waste of my time) now the first manager at vista location (paul) acts mad and says he doesnt want to work on my truck, and that hes not giving me my money back either, even tho im suppose to have 3 month warranty, what a scam, burn yourself for $80 alignment, not worth it in my opinion. Made an online appointment for 0930-1130, arriving a little after 10am. They had no record of my appointment in their system. So they said it would be 90mins for an oil change & tire rotation. After 2 and a half hours, the tech said he couldn't find the wheel socket that unlocks the tire. I left it in the cup holder, but it was not there. We searched hi & lo for it - it was found by another tech ON THE TIRE. So I've been waiting all this time for his simple mistake. It does not make me confident in their service quality. I met with Paul, the manager, about checking out a used car I was purchasing for my granddaughter. He responded as if he were buying for 'his' daughter. He had everything inspected, showed me the results, and explained what needed to be done and what could wait. Most repair shops would have taken advantage, but Paul did not. Horrible service. We're stuck coming here because we have our pads warrantied. The manager is extremely condescending and kept rolling his eyes directly at me (not my husband) when I mentioned my concerns - we're in today to get our brake pads changed for the 3rd time in 3 years (normal average driving), but they insist it has nothing to do with their installation or pads. When we brought it up, the manager got all defensive and said it was normal for 30,000 miles in 14 months. We told him there was no way that we drove that much and with the waiting room full of people he said that no, he had it right in front of him and we were wrong. (I pulled the paperwork after we got the car back and it had only been 17,000 miles - a big difference when you're talking life of parts. I took the paperwork in and confronted him and he seemed surprised, even though he was "sure" before....) They quoted us for full labor and parts on the pads even though I repeatedly told them we had the pads changed and warrantied (lifetime) about a year ago. If I wouldn't have mentioned it AGAIN and asked him to take it off, they would've tried to charge us for parts and labor. We had the same level of service last time we were here, they lie and the manager's extremely aggressive - we're never coming back and I'm telling anyone I can never to go here. read more

My car had been making a slight noise when pressing on the brakes for a few months now. Midas states that my car was in very bad condition and that I needed my front brake pads and rotors, and rear brake shoes and drums replaced. I was a little skeptical about this since I had just had certain items already replaced. If my car had been as bad as they said it was, it would have been making more noise than just a slight screech. Someone I know that is familiar with cars reviewed what they had done and looked at the old parts that I asked them to keep and verified that none of the services they had done were necessary. I had still meat on my brake pads, my rotors were okay. This bill ended up being over $800 for services I did not need...at all. What is even more upsetting is the person that was stating that I needed all this done told us "I wouldn't drive anywhere with the condition her car is in". Will never go here for services again and I will be contacting the BBB read more

Took two cars in for an oil change on june 8th. I was told when I was dropping off the 1st car that they were short two employees so I was immediately iffy on leaving my vehicle. Later that evening i was driving home to orange county and before I could even get to the freeway my car began smoking from under the hood. I immediately pulled over, popped the hood and there was oil splattered all over the side of my engine. I immediately suspected that either the oil filter wasn't screwed on tight enough or they had spilled oil over my engine. When I took my car in the next morning to have Midas look at it, the guy who was running the front counter immediately blew me off without even looking at the dip stick saying, "this isn't from our work, this is leaking from one of your gaskets." Pretty interesting how my gasket leaked that fast and sprayed all over my engine. If he had bothered to do his job and inspect the dip stick he would have seen that it was actually slightly over the maximum fill level so it obviously didn't leak from my gaskets. Absolutely terrible costumer service, if your workers are going to make mistakes, do your part and correct them. Luckily I have an honest family mechanic who inspected my car, and told me exactly what happened. read more

Paul is amazing! He's super upfront about what's going on with your car and is very personable. He doesn't try to upsell you on anything and gives you the recommendations he would personally use. Smart man! He takes his time with each car which I think is a plus. I'd rather wait to have things done right than speed through an appointment just to return shortly after for a redo. read more

I wish Yelp would allow zero stars or negative ratings! This place definitely deserves it. I took my car to this Midas location for a break job. While I was checking in, the manager threw in a free oil-change. (How nice of him, right?) When I got home I noticed that the car was leaking water. At first I did not think much of it. It is just water... The car still continued to leak the very next day. Again, I did not think too much of it. My car was not leaking before my visit to Midas. How is it leaking now? I called Midas advising them of my observations. They told me to bring the car in. After the technician briefly looked at my car, he found the leaking came from the water pump. The only way to stop the leaking was to replace it. That was news to me. I have never had a problem before. Again, the only things wrong with my car were the two back breaks. I reiterated my concerns to the manager. All I got from him was: things happen; maybe it was just time, etc. They quoted me $469 to replace the water pump. I was also told I would need to leave my car overnight. WHAT THE HECK?!?! How do I bring my car in for a break job, get a free "oil change" and leave with a broken water pump? That does not sound like "things just happening". I was pissed! There was no way I was going to leave my car with them. Who knows what else would need to be fixed later. I called Econo Lube in Oceanside and was quoted $175 for the repair AND it would only be a three-hour job. Seven months later... As my family and I were driving, one of our tires pop. We take car into Wal-Mart (the closest store to us). We were told at Wal-Mart that our two back tires were bad because the breaks were bad. How could that be? I had just gotten the replaced 7 months ago. Breaks last longer than that. After Wal-Mart, I drove to Econo Lube for them to check it out. The guys at Econo Lube confirmed my back breaks were bad. I was livid! I spent over $500 on breaks at Midas just 7 months ago. To top things off, I know they broke my water pump! I did call Midas and pretty much told the manager off! He was apologetic. He tried to get me to bring my car back there so he can personally check things out himself. I passed up on his offer. I did not want anything else happening to my car. read more

We all trying to get by... I get it and what fair is fair - but this is not cool... not honoring their end of the deal... I got my oil change here yesterday. It was the worst experience in my life. First of all, after they checked my car they rudely stated that they found more issues with my car and will fix it for 700$ not even asking me if I can afford it and I said no thank you. Then they start changing my oil and broke the housing cup for the oil filter. I had to go to Escondido and buy a new par which costed me another $50 by their fault. The asian man was so rude and didn't admit that it was their fault. They said the part got broken inside. Today we are changing the spark plugs and found out that they got oil into my spark plug whole. The place is a disaster! While I have been sitting there for 2.5 hours and waiting, all people who came in there to change their oil were told that something else is wrong with their cars. And they were giving estimates for around $600-$700 to each person. What a scam! I would never be back to this place again! read more

Wow, what a scam they have going here! Here's what they do, they did it to me and I saw them hustling a little old lady while I was there. You take you car in and about an hour later they tell you that there's a lot wrong. Then they bring you to the garage (past the yellow line that says do not cross due to insurance purposes), show you some random stuff underneath your car and convince you they're showing you what's wrong. Then try to sell you insane parts and labor. They wanted $900 from me and it needed to be done asap! I took it to my guy and he couldn't believe what they were trying to sell me. $30 later he replaced my oil cap and put an additive in my oil.. that's only $870 difference! The guy almost had this elderly lady in tears. I feel bag for anyone who falls for these guys. Stay away! read more

Came on to write a review and was shocked to see 4 stars for this place. I can't speak on the quality of the work they do because I never felt confident leaving my car there and it was primarily due to how cocky, unprofessional and defensive they get. Not to mention they start talking down other Midas locations and even mentioning manager's names at those locations - I never want people like that working on my car. I hope at least the mechanics are truly skilled, the guy at the front desk was almost shoving their certifications in my face. Also, I am a bit perplexed on the whole "we open 7 days a week". When my fiancee dropped off the car on Saturday, the guy said that they are open 7 days a week, yet when they called us back later that day, they left a message saying they have yet to find a problem and that they are closed tomorrow and will resume on Monday. I would really like an explanation. Never again will I be going there or advising other people to go there. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. 1 star! read more

Took my car in for it's 150,000 preventive maintenance and got taken for a ride. After skimming over the prescribed services and saying most of the items had already been done somewhere else (not), the manager proceeded to tell me I needed 4 new tires. (I was very surprised and not expecting to purchase 4 tires. The tread depth was 6/32 on all 4 tires). I was unfamiliar with what depth is safe and should have whipped out my iPhone and researched what is acceptable tread depth, but I didn't. I was skeptical but was assured that there was wear pattern damage and one tire was separating (from what?). These tires had only 37,000 miles on them. But because I was about to embark on a road trip, I agreed. When I got home and looked up tread depths 6/32 is perfectly acceptable for a safe ride. So my 150,000 preventive maintenance consisted of an oil change, a transmission fluid exchange and 4 new tires for a total of $901.07. I have to accept responsibility for not being informed and for not having them take the car down off the rack and taking it somewhere else for a second opinion. Had I not been setting out on a long trip, I probably would have waited. Don't go there! read more
