Today pulled up for change oil on a Saturday at 3:33pm a tech after 5 minutes waited in my car says these are the last cars for the day pointing to the cars in service center. Hours of operation says close at 5pm. Tech said his boss said this the last cars for today since only 2 of us left. Unbelievable make your own hours then don't post hours if you close whenever you like. What kind of a business is this? Staffing shortage? I heard it all they post closed on Sunday maybe they going be open? read more

I have gone to this shop many times and provide excellent customer service and fixed my car property. One day I went in because Waipio Tony Service Center told me I had an oil leak. The mechanics at Midas said there was no leak. They could have easily done it and charged me. But they didn't. From then they earned my respect. I will not go anywhere else. read more

A friend recommended Midas Waipahu. I went in on Saturday morning and the ladies immediately greeted me with friendly customer service. All workers behind the desk wore a mask and the place was very neat and clean. She pointed out the hand sanitizer for my use. After the initial inspection the mechanic went over the repair estimate and showed me the problem area. Very easy to understand, patient, and he answered my questions. One problem, though. He couldn't find the part to repair my car. He said he would keep calling around and get back to me. I went home and around 1:00pm received a call. He found the part. Hurray! Took my Aunties car to this Midas and received great service from the cashier to the Head Mechanic named Robert B. They showed me what the car needed and the cost of everything. We was going to take the car to the "Kia dealership here in Waipahu" but they didn't have any openings till end of March 2018 but honestly I feel Kia couldn't come close to Midas w/customer service and professional workers. I came here today for a safety check. They do safety checks until 4pm. The lady at the front was very nice and the service was quick. I think it was less than 15 min. They had a small waiting area with vending machines and lots of seats. Bring your insurance card and registration inside with you. The cost was right around $20. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T GO HERE! We went to this location for new breaks based off Yelp reviews and it almost cost my family their lives. We needed to replace the brakes on our 2008 4Runner. We were quoted in the ballpark of $600 for everything. I then received a call that there was a lot of rust damage and that basically the entire front brake system needed to be replaced. My total was then $1044. Today, less then 2 weeks later - the 4Runner's brakes went out when my husband was trying to stop at an intersection, he drove right into oncoming traffic with our 4 year old in the back seat. Just please go somewhere else for your brakes. Midas towed our car back to the shop where it currently is at and they said they will look at it in the morning because they were already done for the day. ---NEXT DAY UPDATE 8/8/13---- I received a call telling me the car was ready, when I asked what had happened they blamed a faulty part and that they were going to process a claim with NAPA. I told them that the answer they were giving me was unacceptable because whether it was Napa or not THEY were responsible for not checking the part and putting in my car, resulting in our brakes going out. The Assistant Manager agreed and said he would talk to the GM about a refund. Here is where the story becomes surreal.... The GM (Jimmy, he actually refused to give his last name) is an arrogant, entitled, piece of work. My husband went to pick up the car straight from training. My husband is Navy Active Duty Chief (Select) as soon as my husband showed up he was told by other employees to hold his ground because what happened to us was wrong. As soon as the GM came out and saw my husband was military he instantly threw out that he was a "full bird Colonel" and instantly tried to pull irrelevant rank on my husband threatening to call his command, disrespectfully calling him a lower rank than he was and even threatening to get physical when my husband refused to leave with without proof that they worked on our car. Yup, the GM wouldn't hand over any proof that they had actually FIXED our car until the cops showed up and was forced to. What's even scarier is that the GM changed the story and said that they brakes just needs to be flushed - which is such a basic and mandatory step to changing breaks. The irresponsible behavior and disregard for safety is astounding and scary. One of the employees was kind enough to give us the owners name (Robert "Bob" and Diane Pereira) so I will be making an attempt to contact them. Bottom line: LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE AND STAY AWAY! They don't care about the safety of their customers or the vehicles they put on the road and they are NOT military friendly. UPDATE: Owners issued a full refund and apology. read more

If anyone is suspicious of mechanics, it's me! I've ALWAYS taken my car to Mom and Pop places for repairs. Oil/filter changes are usually done by my husband, and he's always done a good job. I didn't want to mess around with my brakes though. My brakes were squeaking and I knew it wasn't good. I walked into Midas telling myself that I needed new brakes and I just had to deal with it. The lady at the desk was more like an old friend than anything. She called me "sweetie" and was beyond polite. I waited, what I had deemed too long, and asked the front desk lady about my car. She immediately checked on it and had them look at it. She apologized for the wait and told me my car would be attended to shortly. Soon after, the guy came into the waiting area and asked for me. He led me to my car and showed me the brakes. He told me they were fine and would last at least another 6 months. Someone who could've told me how right I was and how terrible my brakes were, actually showed me the" damage" and told me my brakes were fine!!!!! Not only did they show me my brakes were fine, they never even charged me for the inspection! read more

Had my two young boys with me and Auntie Lisa cheered them up, put cartoons on the TV for them, and brightened my day. Called for an appointment for a brake job (pads and rotors) and the guy asked if we could come in that day! Shopped around, and decided that Midas would be our best option and took our car in on a Monday at 2:45 PM. In just over an hour we were in and out of there. The vehicle was inspected and the brakes were changed and we were able to participate in a warranty program offered for the brakes for the life of the vehicle. Lex Brodie's wanted our car for the whole day! While they are the local "go-to", broaden your horizons. I'm glad we did! We didn't save any money, but we saved time and TIME IS MONEY! read more

Time of operations is from 7:00am to 5:00pm. My father goes there to change our car battery at 4:45 cause our car wouldn't start but apparently what we were told is that they close at 4:00pm. Why would you put that you close at 5:00pm here on yelp, on your website, and in front of your door, if you told us that you close at 4:00pm? Bad business. Took my truck to Midas due to hearing positive reviews from friends and reading the online reviews. I have to admit, service was outstanding! Pricing was good, as they do offer discounts. Here's the thing. This review is new, but it's actually old. The thing about this place may have changed, so anyone looking to go give it a shot. However, about 13 years ago, we took our old 1991 Camry here to have the clutch changed as it was totaled by my brother just months after he started driving. They changed the clutch out and we left, but less than a three days later the electrical system failed entirely. We took it back and they did some work on it and we left again. Less than a week later we returned with another issue, this time the windshield fluid container wasn't working. Another week went by and the clutch failed, the one they had just replaced. They said they would change it out again, but my father, fed up with constant issues, took the car to the military base on Pearl Harbor and had them do a full inspection to be sure there were no other issues. They fixed a few minor things they noted that were unusual, like the air filter was damaged and the battery was loose, as well as the new clutch. They fixed everything and my father went back to this Midas to explain what he found and told them they had lost his business. We haven't been back since, thus I assume perhaps they don't "fix" cars to return for more business. Every time I take one of my cars to my mechanic to get it fixed, I remember the headache that was this place. Perhaps it's changed, but I can't help but remember the series of issues our car had in such a short period of time. Everyone knows the old Toyota's are much more reliable than that. At 250k + miles now, that car is still going. read more

There were 5 people in line in front of me and the inspector was moving so fast and seemed like he was still very thorough with the safety check. He had 2 vehicles that had issues and did not pass and he was able to get the issue cleared up very quickly with the customers. Overall I had a good experience! My wife went here to get her brakes replaced about a year ago everything seemed fine until we moved back to the mainlands and the car was shipped here. Her car brakes were again making the same grinding noise and we called Midas to set up a time for them to look at it. Midas were all booked up that day but we decided not to wait and took it to a different place. The mechanics there told us that the brakes were bad and the rotors were also bad so we had to pay to get new brakes and rotors which was about 600 dollars out of pocket. We called Midas a few days ago and they told us that they would reimburse my wife for the brakes. She was supposed to get back 500 dollars back but after waiting a LONG time for them to give us an answer we finally called back today and told us she would only be getting not even half of that. She said okay because something was better than nothing. Mind you we waited a month for corporate to call us back after they said they would which they never did. We called them. Now this Midas Hawaii called my wife today and told her that she would not be getting any money because we took it to a different shop and it was our decision to take it there. We only took it to a different shop because Midas was all booked up and we were not gonna wait for things to get worse with the car. The guy who called us said he was corporate but we never got a name. We called the actual Midas corporate number and they told us that the man that called us from Hawaii was not corporate. Now I don't know what's true but I would like if someone got back to me on this. read more

I always come here for safety check and they were always good to me. Went Thursday to do my satety check. All checked out good on my car but I just needed to return for my current registration. But when I came in today gave them my renewed registration. Guy came back 10 minutes later and tell me the person whos doing the safety check didn't go lunch yet and they short handed so going be 2hrs wait or come back Monday. Just wondering why 2 hrs wait when only going take a few minutes to put the sticker on when everything checks out and all just needed was my renewed registration for which I gave the person. read more

I brought my 2003 Honda Accord V6 to have the ac diagnosed. Robert, the customer service, was prompt, respectful, and thorough in explaining that the ac will be diagnosed and will be refilled with refrigerant at $149 inclusive. Godo, the ac specialist, looked at the car, tested, retested, and said that the ac is fine and nothing is wrong, still pumping out cold blast of air at 50 degrees. Love coming here for service. Fast and crew are very friendly. Change oil and safety check. However, my past visit caused me a little inconvenience. Went there in the morning for my oil change, I warned them that My shifter was locked for months now. When they check up the car they told me that my brake lights wasn't working that's why my shifter locked. They fixed it however, they forgot to do something and for some reason my brake lights won't turn off even my car is off. I have been running around doing errands all day till mid day and noticed it. it was probably draining my battery. So I had to go back and they said that whoever did my car forgot to lock or or close something but they fixed it. So before leaving make sure everything works out fine. Nice, hardworking young men. Welcoming staff. My car goes immediately into a stall for oil chsnge. So, what could be the problem? Young man tells me my car must have synthetic oil, brcause all the new cars require it. I had my owners manual in my hand, so i show him where that is not a requirement. He then tells me they go by the oil cap, which says s.a.e. i lose it laughing and stop him. He then says they dont have the weight i needed. I advised him that as a young man, he might not realize that lying to customers will make them go elsewhere. He confessed that the boss makes him push synthetic and if he doesn't, he loses his job.
