Ed! Went here for a safety check. I am very meticulous & careful with my vehicle so when my brake light didn't come on I was confused. Ed took the time to see why it wasn't working correctly & I had shared with him that earlier in the day I had removed my spare. He noticed the wires weren't connected properly (from the place I just left) allowed me to reconnect so I wouldn't "fail" inspection & have to take another day to come back to redo it. So grateful to Ed! I get free safety checks thru the dealership but to me it's worth paying to get in & out instead of having to drop off my vehicle for the day. Totally worth the extra low cost. Review for Safety Check only - The shop opens at 7am and it is a very popular location to get your safety done. My suggestion, if you're in a hurry in the morning, you're better off coming at 530am to be at the front of the line. I arrived at around 630am and I was the 5th car in line waiting. I waited till about 845am before it was my turn. So if you're thinking it'll go by quickly...it does not. So dedicating a good portion of your early morning to get your safety check done is a must. There's only one guy who's able to do the safety checks so being patient will go a long way. I believe the only days they don't do safety checks are Wednesday's and Sunday's. As long as that one uncle is in working, they're able to do it. Been going to this location for years and have no complaints about this specific service. $26 and they take both cash and card. Also please be aware of the curb in front of Hi Runner's next to Oil Changers. I seen a few people drive over it and scrape the underneath of their car lol. read more

No signs anywhere telling customers where to go. Employees are mean and impatient. They literally tell you hurry up and it's them that are taking forever. I thought this would be a good spot but I was wrong. Only fill your oil halfway and then ask for a tip later. read more

Not sure how this location could be more organized but I called ahead because I wasn't sure what the process was. All I needed was an oil change. The guy on the phone said to pull into any one of the bays so I pulled into the last one (bay 4). I'm sitting there with my windows down. I happen to see a guy waving at me who was in his car, in a line, in front of the Oil Changers building. He was nice but said hey we are all in line. I felt horrible because it was an honest mistake. Didn't know that lane was for safety inspections. Be prepared if this is your first time. The system they use is not great and you could be refused service, skipped, or someone could go in front of you. I guess since we are all from here, that we should know what line is what but I didn't. Bigger signs would definitely help, or having someone come out to ask people what they are there for. I asked one of the guys in the bay and he wasn't too friendly that I had a question. The guys should definitely be greeting their customers when they see them pull in, but no one did. Trust me, I did not want to piss anyone off. I genuinely had no idea what or where I was suppose to be. But once I was in, the process was smooth. Took about an hour from the time I pulled into Oil changers, til they were complete. I stayed in my car which I liked. The same guy that wasn't happy I asked a question earlier, ended up being friendly. He didn't force upgrades, just suggested them. I took one of the suggestions. He showed me how dirty my oil was before he cleaned it. Then showed me what it looked like after. I really appreciate that. My total bill was only $62 dollars which included a $7 dollar coupon. I usually go to the Oil Changers in Kapolei and Wahiawa for my Jeep's oil changes and safety inspections, but my engine light suddenly came on while in Waipahu last Sunday. Dashboard lights indicated hot temperature, so I drove to this Oil Changers behind Costco. Pryor was SO helpful and explained everything to me. Went to get a oil change yesterday. I been there a couple times and noticed that the employee Gene or Glen in Bay 1 always seems frustrated, but yesterday he was quite upset. I was in another bay and while waiting heard him complaining in front of myself and another customer about how many cars were waiting. He kept complaining and doing heavy sighs. Another car would pull up and he would complain to the other employee! "Brah! I just like one break already!"' He answered the phone couple times and complained about people calling to the other employee. I understand you might be getting swamped, but don't complain in front of the customers. Complain after work or on your break. The other employee was good tho. He never complained and just let the other guy Gene vent while he went about doing his job. Also another employee, bigger guy with long hair. He's good! That's why I would always come back cuz he was on it with helping and letting you know that you can come and top off instead of changing your oil sooner. I understand some people may have bad days, but it seems every-time I go there Gene is always mad and complaining. And if he doesn't like his job. If your doing your oil change on any car you can just pull up into one of there garage stalls and wait in your car or truck no need to wait in the lobby and step out. My maintenance light had been flashing for a few days when I finally stopped by to get an oil change. This Oil Changers location is located near Costco in Waipio. This is one of those spots that you can come by without an appointment and stay in your car as they service it. When I lived on the mainland I frequented a oil changing spot like this- so I was used to the concept. When I first pulled up, I went into one of four lines. One line is specifically for safety checks, and the rest are service lines. I played a bit of musical cars, switching from one line to another and then being advised again to move into another line. Maybe it's the fact that I came in during my lunch hour and hadn't ate ... but this inconvenience really gave me a headache. From the moment I pulled up to driving away, it was 55 minutes... Maybe I'm just used to an oil change taking 15-20 minutes tops but I was not ready for it to take that long. I wish I could have dropped my car off and been able to grab something to eat nearby or maybe do some grocery shopping at Costco. I do admit that a decent amount of time was wasted because the card reader wasn't working, and they had to get another portable card reader before my transaction went through. There was also a prompt (with verbal instruction) on tipping for an oil change. I did a quick google search on tipping for an oil change because I've never been prompted to do so before. I ended up paying $130 and then texted my dad "Is it normal to pay $130+ for an oil change and new AC filter"? I did get the dad stamp of approval saying that it is a bit pricey but in the normal range. read more

I am a Waipio resident and a at least a decade's-long customer. This Veteran-owned business was always one I recommended even during previous visits wherein it seemed the technicians had an 'off' day ...but - as of Fri, 13 June 2025 - I will not be going back to this location Oil Changers touts itself as a '1st-come-1st-serve' business, but I - and another patron - were serviced following other customers whom arrived AFTER she and I I arrived while vehicles were being serviced in bays 1-3 and was primarily there for a safety check inspection. In the past, the sign saying 'No Safey Check Inspections Today' was out if the safety check tech was out/gone for the day. I drove past Oil Changers en-route home, and I saw the safety check tech conducting an inspection in bay 4 at ~10:30a. I returned to Oil Changers at ~11:15a and because bays 1-3 were occupied with oil changes, I pulled into bay 4. After sitting in place for ~10 minutes, I saw the safety check tech hop into a Tacoma and drive off... Unsure of what was going on - and because no other tech approached my vehicle to ask why I was there [as done in the past] - I continued to wait. In the meantime, 2 other vehicles approached lanes 2 and 3 and both drivers got out and spoke to the techs already servicing vehicles in those bays. When the other 2 vehicles I watched pull up then pulled INTO bays 2 and 3, without still having had a tech approach my vehicle, I got out and spoke to a tech. I asked about the safety check I was initially there to get, and I was told the tech was not in at all that day [untrue based on my earlier drive by and what I saw in the time I sat waiting] I then asked about the lack of 'No safety check' signage, and I was told there are "several signs and [they are] always changing". When I asked about the '1st-come-1st-serve' rule and said if I couldn't get my safety check done, I'd like my oil changed - stating I was in-place well before the other 2 customers who'd exited their vehicles to talk to the techs - I was told I could pull into lane 2 behind a customer that arrived after me. Because I had already been there for ~35 minutes, I pulled into lane 2 behind the customer I arrived before. There were still cars/customers in the bays to my left and right [lanes 1 and 3], as well as in line with me. I pulled into bay 2 while the vehicles to my left and right were still in the bays being serviced The customer in bay 1 had parked and exited his vehicle while he and 2 of the 3 techs chatted about what I gathered was a female manager whom worked nearby that they saw across the street; there was at least 10 minutes of inappropriate chatter from the "psuedo-customer" and the 2 techs about hanging out and women. Only after the psuedo-customer left was my tech focused enough to begin my oil change and - by that time - other customers had walked into the bays to ask the techs about safety checks...1 even asking "how much extra" to pass a vehicle with illegal tint. The same tech who'd begun my oil change said, "$25" before 'dapping up' the inquiring customer and sending him on his way With my oil change finally under way and the chatty walk-ins and psuedo-customers gone, the 2nd of the 2 techs turned his attention to the customer in bay 1. At this point, the customer in bay 3 [whom arrived after me but before the bay 1 driver], began to protest the bay 1 car being serviced before hers She [bay 3] was told by both techs that the bay 1 car arrived before her. She continued to protest and turned to me for verbal confirmation which I provided. The techs continued to argue their perspective and went so far as to check the security camera footage, returning to the bays to say the bay 1 car arrived BEFORE the bay 3 customer. The bay 3 customer then exited her vehicle and went into the service office to review the footage herself. She returned her vehicle, stating that the tech had lied about the footage, and that - in fact - bay 1's car had arrived AFTER her The tech who'd been working on my car asked the other servicing tech if the oil in her [bay 3] car had already been drained, to which he replied it had. The tech working on my vehicle told the other they "should have told her to get the f***k out" because "she's the one who needed the oil change"... Between watching the safety check tech drive off before safety check hours were up, to not being serviced in the order I arrived; to the inappropriate exchange between techs and the psuedo-customer; the "extra $25" to pass illegal tint; the lies about camera footage and the disparaging comments about a customer whom was in-the-right, I will not return to Oil Changers Waipio, nor will I continue to recommend this business read more

Don't bother coming here for a safety check unless you have a lot of time to kill. Honestly it is the slowest service I've ever had for one. It took me over 2 hours (6th in line). I questioned an employee because I saw maybe 6 other cars (cutting in line?). I was told quite rudely those were customers who needed to return to complete their safety checks. The line for safety inspections are in the bay furthest to the right. The workers are friendly and inviting. The operation is clean and supplies neatly organized. It might just be the situations of the cars in front of me, but it takes so long to complete the inspections. It takes like 30mins per car. I've been in line for about an hour and a half and there are still three cars ahead of me. So if you have time to spare, you can plan on waiting about two hours if there are several vehicles in front of you. For safety inspections, their hours are 7-1pm everyday except Sundays and Wednesdays I believe. read more

Please do not go to Oil Changers, especially not this location (I have been to the 'Aiea location once and they were kind to me there). I was driving to work and my car started shaking, the engine making weird noises. I got very worried and so I pulled into Oil Changers and asked like hey do you offer services to fix what might be happening, are you able to diagnose my car, or do you have any suggestions of a nearby mechanic? The guys (I don't know his name, but he was a young local guy) said yes of course we can fix your car here. I told him about how my engine started shaking, he took a look and seemed genuinely interested in helping me. Mind you, I don't know much about cars, so of course I was trusting this guy. He said okay, x is the problem and if I do x and x, it will fix your car and you'll be good to go. I said oh yay that's great, thanks so much for your help. He performed the three tasks that he said he would, I paid $350, and then right when I drove out of the Oil Changers my car was doing the EXACT same thing, as if nothing had been done at all. I pulled back around to the guy and said hey, it doesn't seem like what you did fixed anything. He said oh yea no we can't fix it here and I was like WHAT? I just paid $350 for what then?? And he said how about you talk to my manager, you signed and so that's your bad. I was furious and felt EXTREMELY taken advantage of. I get it, you are a business trying to make money, but this is definitely not the way to do it, especially not in Hawai'i. The manager was not available in person at the time, and I came back in to try and talk to the manager four more times after my first visit, and there was 'no manager available' EVERY TIME. I asked for the manager's phone number, left a bunch of messages throughout the next couple of weeks, and finally got a return call. I re-explained the situation for like the 15th time and the manager said oh, yea there's nothing we can do. I can offer you a free oil change. How ridiculous! I was so frustrated to have finally gotten contact from a manager and that is 'all they can do'. I expressed my frustration and disappointment and he said well he can try and call corporate, please leave your information. It has been about 3 months since the incident and I still have not heard ANYTHING back. Safety check service is not the same!!!! Been trying to get a safety check for the past TWO weeks. Monday through Friday safety check hours are 7:30am to 2pm. Saturdays safety check ends at 12pm. These hours are so INCONSISTENT!!!! Either the inspector called in sick or the inspector has a meeting or the inspector has to leave. WTH!!! Best to go somewhere else because this location comes up with all kinds of LAME excuses to not service customers who need a safety check. AVOID THIS LOCATION!!!! read more

The annual service of Safety Check is something I loathe having to take care of as many places has one guy that does it and is usually unavailable and/or appointment is required...omg! Drove by and noticed they do safety check and decided to see if I could have it done..."sure!" Drove to the designated area and waited as the vehicle in front was having it done as well. With the current pandemic situation we do remain in our vehicle and are told to open the window down half way and listen for instructions to show all devices is working properly m, then show them required info and you're done super fast and the easiest ever!!
