These guys went above and beyond the call of duty for me and I wholeheartedly recommend them! I had my brakes done here on our VW Touareg and since it's a 4x4, the job was going to be a biggie, I did some investigating and found out that their prices were quite competitive. I also heard good things about Midas so I figured I was in good hands. Had my brakes done, all good and the squeak went away. 2 weeks later, I brought the same truck to the VW dealer for a 30k mile service and they came back saying that my brakes had about half their original life left! I explained to them that I just had the brakes done and asked them to recheck. They did and told me the brakes only had 6-7mm left (new ones are about 10-11mm). Naturally, I brought my truck to Midas thinking I had received different brakes. They assured me that they used the EXACT brakes the dealer would use and they spent ONE HOUR with me - taking the tires off, pulling out each brake and measuring each of them in front of me, showing me exactly that the brakes were about 9 to 10 mm, not 6-7! I can't believe that the owner and 2 other technicians worked on my car to ensure that I was satisfied with the results of the investigation. Now that's service and people that stand behind what they do! I will no longer go to the local VW dealer and will bring all my business to this Midas! read more

Sam, the owner is truly a nice guy! He didn't try to upsell me on anything, he was straight to the point on everything. My car was purchased in March from Nissan, just had a new transmission put in in May due to a recall, I had been noticing a horrible vibration since.. Dealership kept assuring it was fine, Sam and his guys determined during an oil change today that 3 of the bolts holding the transmission in were almost out and my transmission was barely hanging on... I will NEVER go anywhere else to have my oil changed. Jessica is hilarious and super knowledgeable. Word of advice; don't trust dealerships 100% Midas is on point. read more

Can't get any better service than Rick at Midas. They really take care of you at their shop, friendly staff, knowledgable and honest. Went in for Uber inspection. Rather than quickly telling me tires were too bald to pass, charged me for inspection and wanted to charge again when I come back with new tires, and acted like they were doing me a favor by saying they'd sign off on it for free after I get the new tires. I realized I also needed a Lyft inspection, and they said they "have" to charge twice even though just one inspection. Called the Concord Midas, and they do both for the $19.99. Not only that, they said they do indeed make it a practice to quickly check tires and obvious things before going through with inspection and charging so you have the opportunity to go fix them and come back to avoid paying twice. Furthermore, Concord location does both inspections free if getting an oil change. Sam in Walnut Creek isn't getting the whole service the customer for long term business. Skip his shop and go to Fadi in Concord! read more

Came here in the morning because my tire pressure light was on. I was greeted by an employee with a clipboard that was used to get all the necessary information needed about the car and what the problem was. I told them that the tire pressure was low on the back right tire and that I tried to put in more pressure at the gas station but it seemed to be leaking pressure as I was putting it in. He told me that they would take a look and see if they could fix it without changing the tire and let me know how long it would take for the two different outcomes which was very nice. I waited in the lobby and could see them working on my car through the big glass window. It only took about 15-20 minutes and they kept me updated about the car which was also very nice of them to do. Finally, the employee at the front (I presume he was the manager) let me know that they just needed to replace a valve and won't be charging me anything. They definitely could have charged me for the parts and the labor but they didn't. Instead they said "if you need anything else in the future make sure you stop by again!" with a smile. read more

They replaced a seat belt for $350.00; work was fine but they charged more than I felt they should have, as they charged me $140.00 for the seat belt and according to the Dodge dealer my retail price would have been $71.00. read more

**** DISHONEST SERVICE******This place does not do what you paid to have done!!! Not impressed at all with this place. I paid for the most expensive total service oil change of $85 ( which was with a coupon). Included was inspecting everything, topping off fluids, and even vacuuming. They did not vacuum and the light came on for low window fluid! I called and was told to come back in to have things fixed. They filled the fluid but didn't vacuum. I had to remind them again that this was what was suppose to be included. I should have gone done the road to have a $20 oil change and bought window washing fluid and vacuumed myself to have save time and not money and not reminding people to do their job correctly! Who knows if they even really checked other fluids or the other things that were suppose to be checked. read more

They did a supurb job of installing a new muffler and shocks on my 77 MG Midget, at a reasonable price. Not an easy task. Zach in particular takes pride in his work in installing mufflers. I used to love this place. Since it changed hands about 2 years ago, it's not been the same. The oil change service is just ok and the extras their coupons say they'll do, they don't - and when asked, they're done sloppy. The great customer service is just flat out gone and so is the attention to detail. I wouldn't have extra services done on your vehicle - you're better off going to you car dealership for any real issues. I had quite a disagreement with the owner on services and charges, and she refused to refund me for the issues that reoccurred. Sorry, but they get a big minus for that! The owner of this establishment, Carlo, is nothing but professional. He's prompt and has great communication skills with customers. He stands behind his work too. I've been going to him since he took over ownership. I've had major and minor work done on my car here including a brand new radiator, new belts, 4 new tires, 3 oil changes rotors and brakes for all 4 tires and a tune up. All of the work is done in a timely manner. I was never without a car for more than a day or two for the major work. His prices are competitive and fair and the work is quality. Some other customers in the reviews complained that they were given a "to do" list of things that needed to be fixed on their car. I don't mind having a list of things that need to be worked on. I couldn't afford to have all of it done, so I asked Carlo to prioritize it for me so I can slowly get things fixed in the safest order. I have recommended him to many of my friends and co-workers and they are all happy with the work done here too! read more

I stopped in here with a headlight going out on my Lexus. It was towards the end of the day and I stopped in to get pricing and make an appointment. Instead the guy that helped me was so nice he put the car up on the lift and ascertained that the light needed adjustment not replacement, all while having the bays full of cars being worked on. Tried to really rip me off. I stopped by for an oil change and was told it would be about 30-40 minutes. After an hour waiting, they came and got me and told me that my U joint on the front of my drive shaft was loose. They also told me I was leaking oil and that my power steering pump was leaking. Funny, never had any fluid on the garage floor where I park everyday. They did up an estimate on two of the supposedly needed repairs. $777.18 and that didn't include the supposed oil leak. They were supposed to call me with that estimate later that day, as I told them I needed to go since they had taken 30 minutes longer than I was told. I never got that estimate. However, that night was the first time I had any oil on my garage floor. I took my car to a trusted mechanic who had worked on my vehicle in the past. He put the car up and said, that my oil filter O ring wasn't tight and that is why I was now leaking oil. He said if he hadn't tightened it I could have ruined my engine. However, my drive shaft was fine and there weren't any problems with the power steering pump. I walked away paying him $20 for his time. He kept the car all day just to be sure that nothing was leaking. Funny, still a clean garage floor, except for the leak the night after going to Midas for an oil change. These guys were trying to rip off a blond female. Avoid them. read more

Had an appointment on a Saturday using a coupon. Said it was good for $10 off on a synthetic Oil change. Waited 90 minutes to get this done...owner kept taking on new customers which backed him up even more. Besides the delays (after paying $90), does not re set the oil lite, no sticker indicating when oil needs to be changed and no vacuming, topping off the fluids etc. I had another car scheduled but canceled as the service was terrible and they did not deliver as advertised. Never will go back again. High price for poor service is a bad combination. read more

I went to Midas to have the oil changed on a 2005 Honda Accord. This was my 2nd time going to this place and I had a coupon for a $18.99 oil change. I went in the morning and they took me in right away. It took about an hour for them to service the car, which is longer than I thought it should take. They were pretty busy and since they took me in right away, I figure I don't have much of a complaint. Once the service was completed, they did a good job of explaining the systems they checked. The staff was polite and they didn't try to sell me on any extra services, which made the experience all the better. As far as oil changes are concerned, I would recommend this Midas location. read more

I had a pretty nice experience a year ago when replacing my brakes so I didn't hesitate to take it back when my car started to pulsate when breaking on the highway. Midas determined that the back rotors needed replacement and replaced them under warranty. They also "cleaned up" the front brakes and charged me for labor only. The next day, I was on the highway and it felt like the entire back end of the car was dragging. A key bolt had broken and my car was stuck at Midas for another day and a half while they waited for the parts to come in. When I picked my car up, the manager informed me that he still felt the pulsating but also, there wasn't much they could do. They felt that the brakes were in good working order and they had replaced the back rotors once again after the bolt debacle. I then took my car to another mechanic nearby whom was recommended by my neighbor. They immediately identified and fixed the problem - it was the front rotors that were warped. I called Midas and they were pretty unapologetic. I was informed that they did not replace the front rotors and nothing was under warranty. I was not even refunded for the labor costs that they charged to clean up the brakes. I would not recommend this shop now for these reasons. My experience was costly, time consuming and frustrating. read more

Bait and switch! I called set up an appointment for an oil change they asked for my car information, (year, make model, etc.) I told them that I had a coupon they said "yes that no problem". I got there the next day, the guy at the counter says you need the full syntactic oil change (double the price) and this coupon does not apply to that. I told him I have always put in the conventional oil in this car and I used to take it to the dealer they always put in conventional motor oil. The guy started arguing with me. I told him I would show him that the car took conventional oil in the owner's manual. He said he does not make a difference he will not honor the coupon and do a normal oil change. When I said no I don't believe him he kept trying to scare me in to getting the more expensive syntactic oil change. Its clear Bait and switch these guys are completely scammers! read more

Yesterday was Good Friday in more ways than one! We received the most courteous, "Speedee" service, and random act of kindness that I could ever imagine. When my brother, Andy, came to pick me up from my chemotherapy appt at Kaiser, Walnut Creek, he pulled into the parking lot and saw steam coming out from under the hood of the car. He located the nearest Midas/SpeeDee shop on his phn and gave them a call. He explained the problem and that I was ill and he needed to get me home safely.We stopped at an auto parts store for antifreeze and discovered in the process that there was actually a broken part and were able to purchase it. When we arrived at SpeeDee, Sam Khoury greeted us and had his mechanic, Afa, take a look under the hood, verify that the problem had been correctly ldentified, and install then new part. Afa worked quickly and efficiently to replace the broken part and get us on our way and when he was finished, Sam said we were "good to go!" Andy asked how much we owed, and Sam told him nothing, it was taken care of! How kind and unexpected this was during a difficult time for us! Thank you, thank you! read more

The people at the front desk of this Midas branch have no business being there. They might be good mechanics but their customer relations leaves much to be desired. A guy named Shawn attended to me and was truly inattentive and bordered on being condescending. The worst part was that another customer, who did not even have an appointment (as she herself indicated to me) got in and out a full 45 minutes ahead of me who came in on the appointed time! They do not seem to be well organized back there and simply take in whatever car happens to be closest to a work area. When I indicated that I had been waiting long, that was the only time they acknowledged that I even existed and that yes, my car had been waiting for me at the very far end of the parking lot. They did not drive the car to the front of the store, as they had done for the two other customers who left before me and instead left me to back out of their narrow and busy work area. Finally, this employee Shawn was truly condescending and almost rude when he processed my papers as I was leaving. He entertained calls while talking to me and paid almost no attention to what he was doing. My experience at this North Main St. Midas in Walnut Creek was extremely disappointing. I found the people I dealt with very unprofessional and seemingly disorganized. If you ever go there, just leave your car at the closest work station (closest to the office) as they seem to work on those cars faster, no matter what time you get there and whether you had an appointment or not. The farther away you are from the office, they probably figure they can forget about you and therefore make you wait longer than is necessary. Jiffy Lube takes only 30 minutes or less and the people are professional and courteous and not surly, condescending and unprofessional like Shawn and his cohorts in Midas of North Main Street in Walnut Creek. read more

Let me start by saying I've been taking my car to this location for about seven years now for my regular oil changes. I've always been very happy, been through different owner changes and it never impated the service. Last week I showed up for my appointment and found that there is new management. It was a disaster! I decided to leave before they even touched my car because they were so out of touch with basic service. They tried to convert me to synthetic oil when all along I've been using regular. Why would I suddenly want to do that? It must be a better profit margin for them, that's the only reason I can think of. I tried to tell them I wanted whatever they've been doing in the past but they just wouldn't listen to me so I left. I saw the new owner in the parking lot on my way out and I told him that I was leaving and he shrugged his shoulders and could care less. It's really disappointing because I've been going there for years and the location was so convenient. Service is everything Midas!! read more

I trusted the old owner. New one, not so much. I went in with a noise coming from the center of the vehicle, pretty much under the front seats. I described the noise and voiced my concern about a U joint failure that could cause a severe accident at freeway speed. I left the Jeep with them all day. They never called to let me know what the estimate was or anything. I finally called at 4:00 to find out what they found. I had a list of leaks (which I knew about, it's a 20 year old Jeep, it leaks) and a front wheel bearing was bad. No estimate for the wheel bearing, they said 1 side and wrote the other side on the checklist. I questioned the U joint again, and did they put it on the lift and listen to the noise. I was assured that yes, they put it on the lift and listened for the noise, and it was not coming from U joint. Luckily I was not comfortable driving it so stayed off the freeway for the next week. Once my husband had time to look at it he determined that the wheel bearings were fine and the noise was coming from the U Joint at the front of the drive shaft. He removed it and the noise stopped, so pretty obvious where the failure was. If it had failed on the freeway it could have been catastrophic and they fact that they ignored my specific request for a safety check is why I won't go back. read more

I'm really disappointed in my service. I have never reviewed on Yelp before and I went out of my way to create an account just so I could submit this one review... I called and scheduled an appointment for an oil change at 3. When I showed up I was told it was going to be a 30-minute wait and that the lady who walked in literally just before me was going to be put through first even though I had an appointment. 30 minutes later I was told they were *just* putting the lady's car in and that it'd be at least 40 minutes before they got to me. They told me I was welcome to come back in an hour and they'd get me in. So I came back an hour later, was told it'd be just a few minutes before my car got in (but ended up waiting ANOTHER 30 minutes in an overheated and poorly ventilated waiting room (it was cooler outside)), and was told that the coupon I brought in would only save me $10 because my car requires full synthetic oil. According to their pricing, the coupon saved $15 off a regular oil change, but only $10 off a full synthetic oil change? How is it that I save less money on something that's three times as expensive? This is an outrage and I haven't even gotten to the results of their treatment of my car... They didn't use any slip covers for my carseats--which will have to be thrown out because I can't get the oil stains washed--and left massive oil smears all over my car door, door handles, door jam, steering wheel, gear shift, e-brake, and window/lock buttons. I paid for the "17-point inspection" that includes the air filter replacement, tire rotation, vacuuming, and window cleaning...**NONE** OF WHICH WERE DONE...AND MY CAR WAS DIRTIER WHEN I GOT IT BACK!!!! They wiped off the front window and didn't even bother to lift the wipers and thought it was appropriate to claim on the receipt that the wipers left smudges...yet they didn't even turn them on! I'll be calling the district manager in the morning and demanding a refund for this. This kind of service is completely inexcusable. If I could rate less than 1 star, I would. read more

Midas on North Main St. in Walnut Creek is fantastic! It's the only place I ever take my cars to have the oil changed. I went in today because I noticed some issues with my oil level and let me tell you, yet again they provided me with outstanding service. I had no more than parked and stepped out of my car when I was greeted by a representative Shaun (sp) a younger man full beard. I explained to him my dilemma and without having to clear it with 20 managers he had my car on the rack in 5 min and had the problem identified. He had the problem fixed in another 3 min and had me back in my car before I could even offer him my thanks. I spoke to Rick (the Manager, another fantastic employee, always personable and thorough) and let him know what a wonderful customer service experience I enjoyed today. Another great plus about this service station is that it is directly accross the street from Masses, a wonderful sports bar and grill. I often have lunch there and then return for my car when I am having any type of service done. Thanks again to Rick and Shaun for the exceptional service, I wont soon forget it. This morning I took my car into Big O tires to get my brakes inspected and the assumption was that I needed new brake pads on the front, but not the back. Two hours after I dropped off the car, they finally called me back and gave me a unbelievably high estimate and told me i needed to have new brake pads and rotors for all four tires. I almost let them do the work on the front tires, but decided to call around just to compare prices. I called Midas in Walnut Creek and was pleasantly surprised when I got an estimate over the phone for the same work at $150 less (for the front brakes and rotors). Plus after they inspected the brakes, (for free) they told me that the back brakes and rotors were far from needing to be replaced. As well, they stood by their original estimate from over the phone. I am so pleased with the customer service, the honesty and the prices. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more
