I brought Mark & Jason my 2001 Special Edition Miata that had an uncommanded brake application issue that the Mazda dealer couldn't diagnose or repair. The dealer kept blaming the problem on the installation of Wilwood Brake calipers. I thanked them for looking at the issue and had my car towed to "N Service, at the recommendation of my usual Miata shop, Frank and Paul's Auto Repair, who didn't have an appointment available and felt N Service was better qualified for this issue. At N Service, after a couple of days of exploration, they discovered that the master cylinder had developed crystals, probably from sitting all winter without driving. They replaced the master cylinder and the brake problem was resolved. I was so pleased with their work, communication, and paperwork that I subsequently commissioned them to perform an extensive pro-active maintenance event to celebrate my car's 25th birthday. Although the car only had 27,000 miles on it, I decide to do a thorough maintenance overview and to address future upcoming issues, i.e. Timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley, & water pump. They replaced the transmission and rear differential oil, fuel filter, and coolant. My highest respect for Mark and Jason. They kept me informed of their progress and when the job was finished, their documentation was superior to what I have experienced at most independent shops. N Service has been my go-to for a couple years now. We tend to be a Honda/Acura family so fortunately as long as you don't abuse your car, regular check ups are usually all you need. They are located off of Mt Diablo Blvd, less than a mile from the shopping district in Downtown Walnut Creek. They often have time available and are very good with communication and transparency with pricing. One really cool experience I had with N Service regarded a flat tire. They don't fix flats and with Coronavirus, many tire shops were closed. Jason found a place, and got my tire fixed free of charge. Wow. Not sure I've ever seen that before. Open Mondays to Thursdays usually, so keep that in mind. They definitely make it a relatively stress free experience. read more

This repair shop was referred to me by my mechanic when it comes to repairing my A/C, and as you can see on my 5-star rating, my experience was excellent! My main and only contact during my A/C repair was Matt, and he was knowledgeable and informative. He checked the issue, provided options and price range, and best of all did not pressure me about the needed repairs. I did opt to have my car A/C repaired, and with it they also provided some perks of checking and informing me of other things my car may need in the future. In addition, the repair was done within a day after I dropped it off the night prior to the scheduled appointment. The place is tucked and a bit hidden at the end of the street. Parking is plenty. The owners are really nice and the shop does excellent work. They let me know one of the problems I brought my vehicle in for was a recall and would be fixed by the dealership for free. They could have just fixed it and charged me and I never would have known. I always feel they give me a fair deal and they give rides to BART (and I am assuming they would pick you up, but I don't know this for a fact)! It had two 5 star ratings so I thought I'd try them out... and wasn't impressed at all. The co-owner (front desk person) wasn't that welcoming... even after asking if I had been there before, ie, knowing I'm a first time customer. One would think she would have tried a little to be more helpful or kind... something, but I felt like just another number. The work done seems to be ok (a few engine belts changed - by one of their employees.) One of my tests of their level of customer service was to see if they'd clean the battery connection - you know where the cable connects to the battery and there's a build up of... powdery stuff. Well, they didn't clean it and made no effort to show me they cared about my business, not even after I mentioned hearing about them from Yelp! They didn't seem to care much about ratings on Yelp... which indicated to me... another not-so-interested business owner. Need I say... I won't be going back to their shop and hope to find a good mechanic who shows a little interest in my car. read more

DO NOT USE THIS VEHICLE REPAIR PLACE. It's a big deal trying to speak to one of the mechanics. You need to go through the woman at the counter to relay all your concerns. She acts like she is doing you a favor by accepting your car. She never can give you an estimate when your vehicle will be ready. A minor tune up can run several days even if you don't have any major issues that turn up. She acts like your needing your car is somehow insulting to her. She takes days to let you give you a simple phone call with the status. read more

No way! They seem really crooked. They're also doing business as "Walnut Creek Service Center" for American cars too. Called them to make an appointment and get a price quote on a simple fluid change. They asked year/make/model and would call me back. Took them 2hrs to call back, only to insist that they would not do the job as requested, but would only do a service "package" like the dealer at minor/intermediate/major intervals of 15/30/60/90k miles. Even after I had many of the services in the package already done recently! So they want me to pay them to redo work that was just done...What a scam! They want to filter out customers who actually know enough about cars to not get ripped off. They prefer to only take naive customers like little old ladies from Rossmoor, or 16-yr-old first time drivers who don't know any better...stay away! Crooks! read more

After quoting me the price to fix it and seeing how concerned I was, he told me we could at least close it, and then if I wanted to fix it another time I could. Ugh - worst of the worst. These guys are pathetic. Brought car in for routine 60,000 mile servicing, it came out making raucous noises that weren't there before. Brought it right back in, they spent an hour trying to find the problem. They didn't succeed but tried to charge me for their time. Suggested it might be worn-out struts and tried to sell me new ones (even though there were no noises when I brought it in). I have been taking my Japanese cars to N-Service since they were in their original location. I get friendly, personal service, and I know they won't do anything that doesn't need doing. It's really nice to be able to trust one's car mechanic! I've had the N-Service folks repair and maintain several of my cars over the years: my 1978 Honda Civic, a couple of Nissan Sentras, and my current Toyota Matrix (best car ever). My cars last for a really long time, despite all the city driving, cross country journeys, and mountain driving on dirt roads at high altitude. what do we fear most when we bring our car in for service? that it's going to cost more than what we thought and/or the job that was done was not done very well or not at all ! i'm here to say that n-service has been my "go to" mechanic for the past 20 years. i get an estimate of the work to be performed before i leave, i always get a call if something unexpected pops up , explanations are always volunteered and easy to understand and have been referred on a couple of occasions to the dealer because it was going to save me some money. these guys and debbie are the real deal. honest, professional, experienced and customer service oriented...what more can you ask for. read more
